1. I think the book is about a kid who is on his way to go see his dad on a biyplane in canadian forest when sudenly the planes pilot has heartattack and dies know one else on the plane is alive only a 13 year old boy as he is panicking the plane is slowly descending but luckely the young boy lands the plane on the open lake but he is not left hameless he is sick frim swalowing the a lot of water on his way up and the only thing that he can salvige is a " Hatchet" that his mother gave him at the airport but i mosly think the book is about memories how you realise all you donne wrong when your about to die.

2.Yes I do believe that the book fufilled my expectations because it kept me at the end of my seat not able to put that book down alwys wanting more because it was detailed and had a lot of actions.

3. Yes I enjoyed the book because you dont get a lot of books the differences is this one alwys suprises its none stop a brick wall on every turn not noing how you will jump it this time the why I like this book.

4. I would have to rate this book a 8 1/2 because it neve seems to let me down but I the way this book could of been better was if the action of the charecter where realalistique not an 13 year old boy with know flying experience can land a plane aon trick territory.

5. well I do believe i can relate to some of the traits well where both 13 year old boys who live in canada im also facinated in the wild that is one of the reasone i believe that this was a good choice for me because I can relate to a lot of his traits.

6. I think my favorite part of this book is when the kid is placed in a life or death sittuation placed to land a bye plane on his own with know experienced help on his side I say this is my favorite part because it shows that anything can be donne if you put your mind to it.

7. yes I believe my least favorite part of the book was when the ending their wasint enough excitment

8. yes i believe i would recommend this book to some of my close friends because they like the same book I like.

9. well i think the book ended with not enough excitment so I would have to say know.

11. No I dont believe so everything i read I alredy new but this book was really help full because it always kept me on the edge of the seat.

12. Well if the book ahd been taken in a different place the book wouldnt of been good bye the way I imagine it because they way it was played out is was perfvect in every way.

13.well the main charecter I do not remember his name was really realistick i wuold like to have friend like him so yes I can sya that I like him.

14.My favorite part of the book is when the kid is put in to a sittuation to land the plan on his own with know help on his side I say without lying that thid is my favorite part because it shows that you can do anything if you just put your mind to it.

15. yes I believe my least favorite part of the book was when the ending their wasint enough excitment

Hatchet by Gary Paulsen is a story of a 13 year old New York City city-kid named Brian Robeson. At the beginning of the story, Brian intended on going to visit his father in Canada. His father was in Canada because his parents had just gotten divorced. But before he leaves for his trip, his mother gives him a bag full of things he will need, one of them being a hatchet. So when he gets in the small biplane with the pilot, he fastens his seat belt and waits to arrive in Canada. What Brian wasn't expecting was something with the pilot going horribly wrong: "And now a jolt took him like a hammer blow, so forcefully that he seemed to crush back into the seat, and Brian reached for him, could not understand at first what it was, could not know. And then he knew. Brian knew. The pilot's mouth went rigid, he swore and jerked a short series of slams into the seat, holding his shoulder now. Swore and hissed, 'Chest! Oh God, my chest is coming apart!' Brian knew now. The pilot was having a heart attack" (Paulsen 10-11). As the pilot lost control of the plane and eventually his life, Brian had to make a decision: help the pilot, or steer the plane into safety. But before he could make one, it was too late. The plane crashes into a Canadian lake in a Canadian forest, and Brian is all alone. No food, no medical supplies, no friends, no family, no problem for Brian.
The boyscout begins his attempt to fight against the wild, doing anything and everything he has to in order to survive. From eating poisonous berries to fighting one on one with a moose, Brian pulls through. But his hatchet becomes practically another limb for Brian in the forest. For what he discovers after throwing his hatchet at a wall in his cave in frustration could make his survival that much easier: "-he threw the hatchet at the porcupine in the cave and missed and hit the stone wall it had showered with sparks in the dark, as golden with fire as the sun was now" (Paulsen 86). And with a little more timber and with a little more air, Brian discovers fire.
Overall, I personally loved reading this story. It includes hardships, life lessons, and reasons to appreciate how great your life is right now compared to what happened to Brian in the forest.
If you enjoy reading adventure books and if you would like to find out if Brian ever meets his dad, then Hatchet by Gary Paulsen is the book for you.

This book in my opinion was pretty good. Its a story about a 13 year old boy from NYC named Brian who goes to see his father by plane. Unfortunately, there was a terrible accident along the way. The pilot began to have a very intense heart attack but, Brian did not realize it at the time. As a result, the plane became unoperated and crashed in the middle of a forest. Brian was then forced into living in the wild fighting animals, hunger, weather and storms. By the end of the book, he was rescued and all was well.

The book Hatchet is about a kid named Brian going to see his father in Canada. When he was on the plane he got to fly it a little bit when out of nowhere the pilot had a heart attack and then crashed the plane in a lake. Brian successfully escaped the plane and made it up to shore and had to survive 54 days almost two months in the wilderness with no one but him and a hatchet. Somebody eventually found him and helped him out of the wilderness. Brian had lost 17% of his body fat.

The Hatchet is a suspenseful story of a thirteen your old boy named Brian who's plan crashed. He is the only survivor and is forced to spend 54 days in the wilderness until he is rescued. Brian uses a hatchet his mom gave him to help him build shelter and hunt. Brian’s will to survive keeps you on edge. This is a great book for middle school to high school students. I still recall reading this book when I was in middle school.

This book was good! It kept me guessing the whole time. But the ending. Not going to spoil it but it really was frustrating. With such an intense buildup the ending was kind of an after thought.

Brian is the main character of this book. He was on a plane headed to spend the summer with his father at the oil fields in Canada. While he was on his way he and the plane had crashed. The plane crashed into a lake and Brian had to find out how to survive one his own. He was injured during the middle of the night of his first night of survival and has not a lot of food to eat.

when the plane crashed with Brian in it the pilot had been killed in the accident. Brian had a huge problem because he was hurt and didn't have anybody to help. And Brian had to figure out his plan he had learned how to make a fire. He was able to build a shelter before he got attacked by a porcupine. But one day Brian had recovered and another pilot had seen the crashed plane. BRIAN WAS RESCUED!

I loved this book i have read it 4 times. I loved how the book showed how Brian had to learn how to survive on his own. I thought this book is a really good book for other people to read. And there are new books that are about Brians life and i have read them all and there really good like this one.

The Hatchet is an exciting novel written by Gary Paulsen. The book talks about a young boy named Brian which his parents are divorced. One day, his mother sends him in a private airport where he will be sent in a private plane to the oil fields in Cana to see his father. Before they start, the pilot shows Brian the basic control movements and buttons of the plane. On the way, the pilots are having the heart attack, Brian doesn't realize it directly. When he understands that the pilot died, he tries to take control of the plane and ride it until make it goes down in a lake. Some time later he sees an L-shaped lake he does down and the plane flows down. Now Brian has only himself and a hatchet. He has with him a radio but doesn't know how it works. The life in wildlife is very hard for him. After several weeks, he finally sees that the radio is an emergency call radio and turns it on to call to rescue him.

The main character of the book is Brian. He changes a lot throughout the story, at the beginning, Brian was a normal boy without important experiences in the wild life by his own, but after what happened he is now independent and a young mature adult. From the action of Brian, the reader can tell that life can turn to the opposite of your êrfect life in less than an hour, and you will just have to deal with it. All of this makes the plot of the story, even though the path seems dangerous and scary, you can actually learn from it and become stronger.

The first most exciting part of the story is when the pilot gets a heart attack because you don’t know what would happen next if Brian will die or survive. The second most exciting part of the novel is the end because it is a cliffhanger, we will never know if the rescue came, if Brian met his dad, or if Brian’s life will come back as normal or will have more adventures now that Brian has experienced the living in the wildlife. I would recommend this book from 5th to 8th grade because it is a beautiful book appropriate for those ages

The book Hatchet (written by Gary Paulsen) is about a young teenage boy named Brian who went on a plane to go to his father's house for the summer. During the plane ride the pilot had a deadly accident concluding in a plane crash that left Brian stranded to fend for himself out in the wild. I chose to read this book because it made me think of how anything could happen.

The book to me was such a realistic situation that could happen to anybody and it happened to a 13 year old boy. Throughout the book, I wanted to know if someone with so little knowledge of the world could actually survive alone and learn to be about themselves. All I really want is to have enough knowledge to be able to be happy and fend for myself at a young age so this book was the perfect book for me.

This book kind of reminded me of The Hunger Games but I feel like the book Hatchet has a much different and deeper meaning to it. I think anyone who has a wandering imagination or a curious mindset would love reading this book. It truly is a bestselling classic (as said at the bottom of the front cover of the book in italic white).

The Hatchet follows young and somewhat obnoxious Brian who becomes stranded in the wilderness after a freak accident. Brian has a lot of growing up to do and he learns exactly how rough life can be when you are really on your own, in the wild. He must learn to fight and fend for himself. As he does he comes to respect himself and his way of life. He comes to love his home and his animal friends. All of this learning starts with his hatchet, the only tool he had with him, to save and protect him.

This is a fantastic story of change, and redemption, work and success. The book is great for young and older audiences. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the out doors. This book is a great example of what hard work and a lot of personal time can do to change someone. There are many ways that Brian is changed I think Gar Paulsen focuses on this more as he continues with the series but The Hatchet is a great and exciting start.

Read this as a kid back in middle school and I remember absolutely devouring it and then immediately after starting a re-read. This was my favorite among the few "boy in the wilderness" books I was into at the time, such as My Side of the Mountain and all of Hatchets sequels including The Return.

I recently did a re-read of these as an adult and I enjoyed it every bit as much. I can attest all of the sequels are just as good as well, especially The Return, where Brian makes the decision to go back to the wilderness.

Recommend to anyone looking for a wilderness/survival adventure story that's not too long and is very easy to get into and read.

5/5 for these fun, easy to read books :)
