Another Tommy & Tuppence short story from the book Partners in Crime. A gentleman has a crush on a young lady who he has a bet with that he can break her alibi of being two places at once. Mr. Jones hires Tommy & Tuppence in their role as owner of the Blount Detective Agency. so it ends up being their job to prove which of the alibis was really her and which is the false alibi. Sounds simple but after going over every detail and interviewing many, many people this mystery-solving duo are stumped. Until Tommy unwittingly says something that lets Tuppence sleep on it and she figure out exactly how the this mystery was pulled off.

I knew the solution to this story as soon as the problem was presented. I was tickled that finally I understood where Agatha Christie was leading her readers. Unfortunately, I skipped over the vital detail that Tommy mentioned that sent Tuppence on the right track. I still feel I did a great job of detecting. This story was short, but I really enjoyed the whole 15 minutes it took to read it.

Another rollicking Tommy and Tuppence story. In this case they need to decide which alibi is correct. What ai did enjoy about this Agatha Christie story is that it enabled you to not only follow the plot but try to figure out the answer.

Not a bad story but not one of her best. No crime involved here, just a bit of a riddle to solve. I had it solved very early on, just had to wait for Tommy & Tuppence to catch up.

There was no mystery in this story the unbreakable alibi turned out to be just two different people!! The title make you expect too much of an average story.
