“I’ve learned the hard way that even when I’ve been desperate it’s not a good idea to make a deal with the devil.” I study each person on the council. “It’s hard to know who to trust out here and you don’t know us at all but we’re the deal. We know what we’re talking about.”
This amazing series has won my heart. I will forever be comparing future zombie reads to this one. It has the bar raised high, so they will definitely have some work to do before I would consider them good or not. I am going to miss Alex and Wyatt so very much. My heart is just so heavy that it is all over and done with. Or is it? Hmmm….
I was hoping at the end of the last book that they would have it easy from here on out. But that wasn’t the case. Alex, Wyatt and their friends that survived the last battle will be in for yet another fight for their lives. What’s new right? There does seem to be of more of an urgency this time around though. Seriously, how much more can a person take? My head was spinning and I was so caught up in the story and everything that goes down. Deceit, love, rebellion...this book covered it all.
I’m not sure what else there is left to say at this point. Here we are are 6 books into a 6 book series. We are finished and done. So what’s left to say that I haven’t already said? I do know I have loved every second of this wonderful journey and hope like heck that Lawson does continue on with a spin off. I need more of this beautiful and decaying world. I want to see certain people’s stories get told. I want to see the world built back up from the ashes of the Eaters, Hybrids, and the evil humans who only wanted to rule. And most of all, I want to see the future that Alex and her friends fought so hard for.
One word I have said over and over in my reviews for this series is amazing. And each book has been just that. Amazing. I am so very happy I read this series and loved the uniqueness of each book. They each offered something that was special and had me feeling emotions I haven’t felt in a long time with a book. Lawson, I adore your work and look forward to anything else you dream up. 5 Amazing Stars!
My two-star rating is not for this book but for the series as a whole. The story was very good (except for the very abrupt ending), but I cannot in good conscience ever recommend these books to anyone. Lawson, you seriously need to get someone to edit your books. This series contains an EMBARRASSING amount of typos. Seriously, PLEASE get someone to edit your books. If someone already is, get someone else.
Sometimes I just get in the mood to read a really great apocalyptic zombie (like) series! This one was amazing and I tore into the 6 of them like they were chocolate cake. I'm afraid that I've turned into the walking dead after getting too little sleep over the last couple of weeks while staying up to read them. That adrenaline rush makes it hard to calm down and sleep! The characters were so well drawn that as they got into situations and had to make tough decisions, I was right there with them. I think it's because they started out as very ordinary people in an extraordinary time. When they started they were "Every Man (or teenage girl)" and it was moving to see how they changed over the course of their fight for survival. I am looking forward to revisiting some of these characters in the promised spin off books! There are a million stories still begging to be told from this universe.
There was a point somewhere in this book when I realised that I would be sad to see this series finish. I had got very comfortable with the main character's voice. The spin-off book mentioned in the end notes will be certainly on my to-read list.
Each of the parts of this series feels complete. The breaks between the books give the feeling of the passing of time or other elements which enhance and enrich the series, none of the parts appear unfinished, although there may be a cliffhanger or two or an unexpected plot-twist to finish on.
Book 6 avoids repetition of previous events, although there are references and reminders, it ties up the story but nothing is ever as straightforward as it seems, the pacing is good and it is a page-turner right until the end.
This is Angel Lawson's strongest book series so far, by far.
This last book made me sad, I didn’t want to say goodbye to this series and these characters. But it was a great wrap up for the series, I loved how it all payed out and I’m hoping there will be a follow up or spin off for Cole. I was a fan of Angel Lawson’s work before but after this series I will be reading everything she writes!
I love this series! Alex & Wyatt are my favorites but I was glad to see Parker and Davis back. I love how the author wrapped up the series but now I can't wait to read the spinoff series with Cole that she mentioned in the back of the book.
We know we haven't seen the last of Alex and Wyatt. We are glad they get a taste of the normal life. Thank you very much for an amazing series, Danny and Debbie Scott.
After avidly reading the first 5 books in this apocalyptic series, I couldn't wait to jump into the final book. It didn't disappoint! Angel Lawson rocks the zombie 🌎 !
I am saddened to see this story has run its course but I am happy with the end. It did not give you the flowery "they all lived happily ever after" but you don't feel cheated either. The series ran its course and I'm glad I found them.
