I’ve read a few different books trying to help my anxiety and this one has been the best by far. I really really recommend it!!

Self help books are so subjective to the person reading it. But I found this one really helped me - at no point did I feel over whelmed or did I call Caroline out for bullshitting. It was so good to explain in human terms what’s happening with me, the science behind it and how do I approach how I’m feeling or this situation right now. It reassured me I wasn’t crazy and that everything that my body is reacting to, there is a scientific reason, and it’s not as ‘emotional’ as I had built it up to be - the way I work out, my sleep issues and my moments. It’s a really handy book to have! Highly recommend giving it a go.

Abban is segít, hogy megtaláljuk, mit tehetünk most azonnal magunkért, illetve merre érdemes elindulni a további úton.

Ugyanígy a jógával, a mindfulness-szel.

I found this book was really useful in helping me understand my anxiety and behaviour when I am bad. It helps you understand the science of it without being confusing. It helps you understand that you are not alone with your feelings and easy ways to help manage it including how to get others to support me.
It is a book to dip in and out of though I did read it in one go. Am going to keep this book so I can dip in and out of it when I need it and also get my partner to read it so he can understand it more. Definitely a book I would recommend. X

I appreciated reading this book. It is written in easy to understand language and the author doesn't use technical terms that only psychologists could understand. I took my time reading this and I will keep the book near me to dip in and out of as my anxiety presents itself. This book finally helped me understand I'm not alone in feeling anxiety and hopefully I'll be able to "Own It" with some work.

Although not entirely 'bullshit free,' it was a good read and does provide helpful coping techniques and a refreshing reminder that what you may be experiencing is not at all unique.
However, if you are going to write a book that includes the word 'bullshit' every second page, spelling it with the asterisk becomes redundant.

My wife suffers from anxiety and she had read this book. I wanted to read it to get a better understanding of what anxiety can be like to live with. I still have a lot to learn but this book certainly helped with my understanding it.

'The hardest lesson and most important I learned was that embracing your anxiety is the key to recovering from it and living a life where it doesn't define you. Don't get me wrong; I still have shitty, stressful days at work, or days when I feel a little below par (one time I was particularly exhausted, ratty and hormonal and I cried because my boyfriend ate my last chicken nugget. I'm 28, I know) - but that, dear friend, is the human experience. What I have now, however, is confidence in myself to pull through whatever life throws at me, thanks to the invisible arsenal of effective tools I keep tucked under my arm.' - Caroline Foran

As someone who recently experienced a rather traumatic experience with my own anxiety I did what I do best, I reached out to google and typed in "Books to help me with Anxiety" and to be honest I did not expect to find a book so incredibly helpful off the bat. So helpful in fact that I have just completed it for the second time round.

As far as self-help books go, this one is incredible. While it won't cure you of your anxiety, it will give you a deeper understanding of the physiological and psychological elements of anxiety and panic attacks and will encourage you to seek the help that may really be needed.

What struck me most is the easy way in which Caroline breaks down the physical elements of anxiety, explaining the way in which the body presents symptoms and what is scientifically happening with the body, hormones and chemical balances during periods of acute anxiety. For someone who likes to understand as much as possible, this was a game changer. It enabled me to rationalise the physical symptoms of panic attacks which in turn has helped them to be less severe.

The book delves into the topics of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the controversial topic of medication, exercise, meditation, nutrition and sleep to name a few. These topics are explained and analysed with humour, honesty and in a totally Bullsh*t free way.

Caroline enlists the help and advice from various specialists within specific fields and topics in a very easy to understand and follow way. The book also includes many exercises developed and researched by psychologists and specialists alike and for me personally, they were incredible in helping to break down and analyse certain elements of my own personality and struggles.

This really is an incredibly well rounded book for those early on in recovery who really don't know where to start. It is simple, informative and really easy to read. It really is somewhat of an Anxiety Bible, one I will be returning to time and time again.

This book was well written(as in accessible, plain language) and provides a solid basis of techniques and research on how to handle anxiety.
The first thing to acknowledge is that it cannot be cured, there are no shortcuts and a wide variety of options are explored.
If there was one issue I would take with this book is the emphasis on CBT.
As anyone looking for help.in dealing with anxiety knows, the first step in seeking help is usually the G.P who 9 times out of 10 prescribes/recommends anti depressants/SSRI's.
It makes it appear that getting CBT is straightforward but there is a huge waiting list,CBT often has a years long wait by which time people can end up in crisis or medicating.
There are definitely helpful insights in here and the knowledge that other people are coping with anxiety issues using these tips for help and there are lots of things you can do to help yourself

As self-help books go, it doesn't get any better than this. Not a book you have to read cover to cover but the writing style is so casual it feels less like you're reading and more like you're talking to an old friend. I was struck by how many moments I found myself thinking 'I thought I was the only one' and I can't even begin to explain how helpful the practical exercises inside have been for me. I carry it with me wherever I go in case I feel myself panicking and it has completely changed my outlook on my anxiety. I'd recommend it for anyone who feels like they should 'just calm down' and can't for the life of them work out why that isn't as simple as it sounds. Got a feeling I'll be dipping in and out of the chapters and exercises for a long time!

Just Listen To The Podcast.

I'm always reluctant to buy a book from someone who has an excellent Podcast as it's likely to have all been said but i succumbed.

I was disappointed as the book goes nowhere as deep as her amazing Podcast and yes as i guessed most of it's in the podcast.

I bought this on audio and knowing that Caroline narrates this herself further encouraged me to buy it.

For me the book is shallow, nowhere near the big guns Poppy Jamie and Dr Soph's unique books on anxiety.

I highly recommend Caroline's amazing podcast!

Really enjoyed this. Narrator was great too.
I feel like I’m already familiar with some of the ideas in this book - but always nice for a refresher.
I also liked the authors own stories (not too many of them - just enough! Sometimes these type of books turn into memoir instead of self help! Which I am not a fan of)
I definitely feel that I’ll revisit this audio book over the coming years.

Such a disappointment. I listened to the author’s second book, The Confidence Kit yesterday, and got a lot from it, so thought I’d give her first book a listen too.

Oh dear. I guess it started off fairly well, and has its good points, but the warm embrace it gives to pseudoscience, especially towards the end, ruined it for me. It undermined all the good in this, and her second, book.

Such a travesty for a “bullsh*t free guide” to end up shoulder deep in a cesspit of bullsh*t.

After listening to Caroline’s podcasts for months I was so excited to finally get my hands on this toolbox for anxiety! Listening to the podcasts had really soothed me so seeing it all in paper I was able to read it in her voice which honestly made me all that much more calmer. The book addresses all aspects of anxiety in (mostly...I did get a little lost with a few technical explanations!) easy to digest chapters. Definitely a must read for anxiety sufferers like myself!

I stumbled upon the author's podcast and decided to purchase this book because of it. Although Foran has a smooth and fast-paced writing style which I really enjoyed, she often seems to skim through the material. The book does offer some good tools that will help you in your search for a way to deal with your anxiety, but there is a certain depth missing to it. Definitely a step in the right direction for someone quite new to experiencing anxiety though...!

It is extremely helpful and easy to understand and is full of useful information. I would recommend this book to anyone suffering with anxiety.

They need sum attention.

Read this book in about a week, couldn’t put it down.
Absolutely brilliant book, very easy to read the wording is so casual.
Lots of useful exercises, tips and resources included.
5/5 would recommend to anyone, with or without anxiety as it really helps you to understand it more in depth and doesn’t promise to “cure” you

While it felt a bit self serving at times, it really is an overview of coping with anxiety from Caroline's own experience. It mixes experience, evidence and broader recommendations, doesn't shy away from the use of medication or eastern medicine and could be really useful for someone who just cannot see a way out of their head.

I’m usually very skeptical when it comes to “self help” books, but this was the one book on anxiety that I actually related it and didn’t offer a “cure” or a “quick fix” to situations and offered a positive spin on it. Some of the exercises weren’t applicable to me right now but I definitely would come back to it again.
