VIDEO REVIEW HERE: https://youtu.be/ZPA4zZqPkRA

I am officially all in with this manga!!

I feel it's probably one of the most dramatic series I've read because what I thought was a love triangle, isn't really. Lots of feelings all around, but it's fascinating to see how sometimes between two characters they can be SO opposite in their drives and motivations!

As a result, can't say I'm super fond of Momo. I feel it's hard to really like him with how much Nino wants to see him and seeing her pain from not being able to.

Yuzu on the other hand, he is so fun to read about! Though his backstory was so sad and can definitely understand Nino and the decisions she mad after finding out. BUT! I loved the near ending of this manga and how it does seem they are growing closer as friends.

I have been surprised how much I like Miou. While her and Nino haven't become BFFs, I do like how despite things that have taken place, Miou is "supporting" Nino. It was refreshing to see how their "friendship" is not what I anticipated it would be.

This was a really really good volume and very happy I decided to start this series!

Nino Arisugawa grew up with Momo at her side. They held hands and he came when she called. When he suddenly disappears with his family she is crushed. When she meets Yuzu singing his music soothes her soul. Suddenly he leaves her a goodbye in the sand. Because their connection is through music she sings her heart out everyday so that in the future she can find them again.

This is a review of volumes 1-2 which I read together back to back. See the plot section for my thoughts on the individual volumes.

The Premise

Nino is a flighty girl who doesn't really pay attention. Not to worry because her friend Momo is always at her side. Until one day he isn't. GAHHHH I was totally ripped for Nino. I had to read this section a second time but when I did it totally captured my heart. I can see why Nino felt invincible at Momo's side... because it was clear he felt invincible at her side too. This kind of childhood friend... losing them suddenly... yeah it brought on panic attacks. Should a girl feel panicked because the stable person in their life is gone?

Probably not, but its hard not to relate.

She clings desperately to what he told her... one day they would meet again through the beacon that is her singing. In the midst of despair she meet another boy, Yuzu, a burgeoning music composer. He develops a crush and she can breathe again. Until he does a vanishing act too! For all of this back story that is built up in Anonymous Noise vol 1-2 we quickly move on to the present where our protagonists meet again!! Yes, and its dramatic, full of angst and topped up with the full range of high school emotions.

The Buzz

I really loved that Yuzu had used his feelings for Nino, the Nino he knew was desperate for her missing neighbor boy to form a band! Yes, the young composer plowed all his love into songs for In No Hurry To Shout. I love the turn that the story took when the band was introduced. This is ultimately about unrequited love (isn't that what high school is really about?!) and I really felt for Yuzu and the situation with his band failing.

Then we have Momo! What a rotten situation to be in... He was quite blessed to turn his composing into a lucrative career for his family. This is all very angst filled but I am intrigued with how their relationships as teens are developing. They aren't going quite where you expect but at the same time its in line with what we've learned about them through Anonymous Noise vol 1-2.

The Feels

Yuzu and Nino are in a bit of an emotional dilemma in Anonymous Noise vol 1-2... Their feelings are unrequited. They have opportunities but it will put them in situations that will be emotionally draining but also potentially soothing too. I really felt for both Yuzu and Momo. They seem to have a very, very slow burn bromance going on that is quite exciting to me.

I typically feel really strongly about the protagonists in any manga I read. And I do really like Yuzu and Momo. I do feel for Nino. The plot was hard to follow at times. I wasn't sure what was happening or what was concluded. I want to bond more with Nino and feel more what she is feeling in the present circumstances. It's there but I felt at a distance from it.

The Visuals

TBH the art was hard to follow in Anonymous Noise vol 1-2. It is what caused me to struggle with a manga that really has great relationships and tons of drama. Look at the covers... GORGEOUS! This is one of those times when I feel like COLOR would have clarified a lot. This may be a time when I have to re-read volumes (that really helped me click with the back history in vol 1) or even go for the anime.

I'm planning on struggling forward. I really love the unusual direction the relationships are taking and the character designs are gorgeous! I just want to be able to understand more. To connect deeper. If I can get into the story's rhythm better I hope to achieve that with vol 3-4.

Anonymous Noise vol 1-2 is all about unrequited love. Why are these relationships not taken to the next level?! For many reasons that differ for each person. As we follow Nino and her friendship with Yuzu and her reuniting with Momo we'll get to feel all the drama, angst and emotions of high school once again.

This is a multi-volume series and there may be references to the plot of those volumes... SO READ WITH CARE! Here is my review of 1 | 2 |

This series is really starting to grow on me. Volume 1 had me intrigued, and volume 2 has gotten me invested. I'm rooting for Arisugawa. Admittedly, I don't care too much about the love triangle that is going to form (Arisugawa doesn't seem to have romantic feelings for either guy at the moment, but that is bound to change eventually), but I guess depending on how they play their cards, I might end up liking it.

I read volume one way back, (it took me forever to get my hands on the second) and I really enjoyed it. My review of book one was 4 stars (really 4.5) because I thought the character introductions, mainly the parts about Nino's childhood with Momo and Yuzu were very lengthy, and I would've liked to have seen those parts split up here and there throughout the series...kind of like little reveals.
Now, reading volume two, I can completely understand why all of that exposition was added in so early on, especially in Momo's case. Without having that there, it wouldn't have given either of the boys equal footing when it comes to Nino, and wouldn't have allowed for the big reveals in the second volumes! Of course, I won't give any spoilers...but I'm looking forward to completing this series, and I wish Yuzu all the luck in the world while collecting his milk points...since I too was a short high schooler...and I stayed short lol.

Ara ara ... This volume was a HUUUUUUUGE improvement from volume 1!!!! Wowza! Volume 1's pacing was really off and honestly I could have stopped then and there but I'm so glad I decided to read on for one more volume! The story-writing and the pacing here improved IMMENSELY and now I honestly CANNOT wait to read the next volume! WOWZERS! I really hope the pacing and the storywriting continues like this/improves more.

Not really any better than the first volume. I definitely don't like Momo. Also not a big fan of the art style--all huge eyes and huge mouths. I dunno, I'm definitely not feeling invested, but I'll most likely read a couple more volumes, if only because I'm way behind on my reading goal and these are short!

Better than the first one, I think! The plot is getting a little deeper, and one of the things that bothered me before doesn't look like it's going to be a big deal.

Not the love triangle, though. (I mean, it's sort of a love triangle...maybe?) That's definitely part of the story. Still waiting to pass judgement on that...

At least there's music! 💕

I can’t decide if I want to continue with this series or not. Usually I try to read up to at least vol 3 or 4 before deciding if I will continue with a series or not, but for this one I’m in no rush to get to vol 3...

I had high expectations for this manga, but sadly it’s not delivering yet. I’m getting sick of hearing the heroine go on and on about Momo. You’ve got something good in front of you, someone who genuinely cares about you and you sit there whining about mOmO. 🙄

Hoping this gets better because this is just pathetic at this point. *yawn*

After Miou says Nino’s voice is the bottom of the barrel, Nino decides to practice every day and read books on vocal training so she can one day reach Momo. Yuzu, meanwhile, starts writing blockbuster songs again and can’t work up the courage to ask Nino to be the Alice/lead singer of In No Hurry to Shout. One day, Nino sees the name of another songwriter on an audition sheet, and the first name is Momo. Can it be the same Momo she’s been searching for for the last seven years? She decides to audition for the music company and hopes that she can meet this Momo, but Yuzu can't stomach the thought of Nino singing lead for someone else's band!

I like that this story is bucking the tradition (slightly) of having everyone be naturally amazing. Nino is putting in work in this volume to better herself and become a stronger singer. She has natural talent, but no one is born an absolutely perfect singer. Meanwhile, there's Yuzu and other songwriters being perfect and writing hits even though they're still in high school and they've had no formal training in composition. There are times when the narrative is a little hard to follow because so much of it is happening within the thoughts of characters. The characters are in school, but the focus is definitely not on any sort of scholarly achievement or studying, which is slightly refreshing and different from most high-school aged manga set in a real world.

I was very enthusiastic about this series after reading volume 1, but now I'm on the fence whether I want to continue reading more of this story.

What I did like from this volume: Knowing Momo's backstory from when he moved out to the present, and why he's being so shady about even showing himself to Nino. I mean, the two of them go to the same high school?! Nino, how hard would it be to stalk and find this person you've been searching for for the last six years, girl? I also really liked Miou's character development-- she seems to be the only person in this entire series who is level-headed and candid enough to actually see what's going on and to speak her mind about it.

What I didn't like: sorry but not sorry, I don't like Nino. She's stubborn and doesn't listen to anybody except when they say something she wants to hear--which I know is a typical trait of many anime/manga characters--but there's only so much repeatedly going around in circles that a reader can take. It's come to the point that I don't feel bad for her anymore when she's rejected by the Boy because it's essentially been broadcasted two chapters ago that she's going to be rejected.

I am glad I came across this beautiful book. I am just wondering my life when I have gone through the same stage as Alice a.k.a Nino. I love Yuzu he is so warm heart and somewhere I feel he loves Nino. I want Yuzu to express his feelings for Nino but I also want Nino to forget Momo because he is a crap, a heartless fellow.

This story has so much to offer and some unanswered questions which I have currently in my mind. why did Momo left ??

Yuzu the handsome guy who sees his voice in Alice and adores her singing, does he love her??

Will Nino choose Momo over Yuzu??

Will Yuzu be able to recover from the illness??

I am overwhelmed with this beautiful manga. The melody, characters, storyline is just so intense. I have been reading so many manga's but this one just pierced my heart with feeling which most of them I have gone through and I totally understand the pain of Nino. I hope she eventually finds who is made and best for her. This is beautiful and a lyrical manga I have read so far. Totally recommended.

While Nino is still trying to find Momo, she is being recruited by the Yuzu's band to replace their lead singer. When she sees an audition being judged by a songwriter named Momo Kiryuu, she puts two and two together (Kiryuu is his mother's maiden name) and jumps on the chance to audition just so that she can finally meet him. Nino, however, is still rough around the edges with her vocal skills, so Miou helps her out (I do hope these girls become besties soon! It would be so nice to not have the jealous friend trope); Yuzu meanwhile is torn about having her in the group - he is in love with her, but she is in love with Momo, and there's a lot of angst about that, okay, which is just right up my alley. What I also loved in this volume was that we finally get a glimpse into the boys' lives during those 6 years and what was the reason for their respective reactions to knowing Nino now. I love how the emotions of their love for music is portrayed, and the themes of 'voices' and how each affects the others'. Oh, and I am so excited for the new band and their adventures!

Great sequel to the Annoymous Noise series! A plot of such young devotion and heartache...it's all good though. Nino's character (and artwork!) is a lovely lead female and now she's finding her voice (literally, yes, that's a pun) and a new start in this book.
She's been mislead by broken promises so I was glad to see her stand up for herself in this volume.
The 4 person band "In No Hurry to Shout" is such a COOL idea, with all the band mates hiding their identities!
Can't wait to read Volume 3.

Momo is ashamed of being a 'sell-out' leading to angst. Angst ridden teenage singers and composers! More at 11.

It's weird how Momo's career is automatically taken to be a bad thing, being a sellout, as opposed to being seen as a success. It could be brilliant: "Look at what I accomplished by being inspired by you; I hoped that you would hear these songs and somehow know they were for you," etc... I'm glad that there isn't simply the basic catty love triangle fight with the girls, but a different type of rivalry. The whole thing still seems off though.

WOW. How did the second installment of this manga series grip me even more than the second?! And the fact that there are approximately 15+ more installments in this series to go, this series can only go from strength to strength! The art is simply breathtaking; the characters are simply lovable in their own right; their dilemmas are no where near simple but yet, is conveyed in a manner that simply has me engrossed in the story- this manga series simply has my heart, okay?! I hope to get my hands on the third manga soon!

"After hiding our true feelings from each other, that was the day we showed our hands... and joined them together."

This series is already so good! I think it's gonna be addictive.

Volume 2 connects the dots on a few things that didn't make much sense in Volume 1. I'm loving the main character, Nino/Alice, who is more spunk than smarts - but is also all heart. Can't wait to see where things go now that she's joining the band. I also really like Yuzu. I think I'll cheer for him. Rockin' on to volume 3!

I read volumes 2-4 right after each other so they all blur together.

Nino finds out that there's a composer named Momo that might be her Momo. She tries to land an audition so she can meet him. Miou--In No Hurry To Shout's vocalist--quits the band and suggests Nino as her replacement. She's realized that Nino is the Alice that Yuzu has been writing for. She also tries for an audition with Momo.

Yuzu wants to help Nino but also have her but also not admit to her that he wants her. This goes on for a while.

Finally we start to get into the story more and we get to know some of the characters beyond Nino and Momo. Yuzu is fast becoming my favorite in this triangle with Momo being more annoying than anything. Miou though surprised me - do I sense frenemy vibes?

Right now I'm curious to see what happens next. Nino is so raw and untrained in her singing. Does she have potential or will she only ever just sing at the top of her lungs to try and reach Momo from rooftops and beaches?

backstory reveal confirms: every character in this story is an overdramatic teenie

(except for miou, she's being pretty rational)

(i feel like momo needs more friends so that somebody can tell him how silly he's being)

(maybe yuzu will if they continue getting to know each other better?)

Anonymous Noise Vol. 2

In this volume, Nino is becoming a better singer thanks to her friendship with the gang in the Pop Music Club. What she doesn't realize is that Yuzu and company are really the Pop group, In No Hurry to Shout. Nino also winds up in the same high school as her childhood friend, Momo. But he doesn't want to see her, so he keeps away.

What will happen next?

Ah, the plot thickens! I must say I love that Yuzu and Momo have become friends before knowing anything because... you know they’re all gonna be aware of this triangle soon. But really, it’s nice that they’re bonding and relate to each other. I really don’t like triangles with cheap shots and petty fights between the boys >___<

That audition though. Ah, my heart! Why must I have a soft spot for tsundere boys?!
