FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid Rogan is back from her honeymoon and eager to be returning to work but somewhat wary of the new bureau chief, Rachel Vaughn. She was right to be concerned as Vaughn doesn’t trust her and makes that clear to not only Lucy but the entire San Antonio office, relegating her to desk work despite their shortage in agents. Meanwhile, RCK frontman and founding partner J. T. Caruso is having a personal crisis. His sister Bella works for a private agency dedicated to finding missing underage girls who are suspected of being trafficked. She’s deeply undercover but is now in trouble when the police officer who was helping her is murdered and Bella is out of contact. When the FBI takes this on as a case, the Assistant Director requests Lucy for his task force, deepening the divide between her and Vaughn.
Despite my admiration for Lucy and her exceptional skills, I understood Rachel Vaughn’s concerns about her from a manager’s perspective. However, her methods in dealing with the situation bordered on outrageous and petty, stoking dissension throughout the office and causing cases suffer. This storyline was as compelling as the race to locate and extract Bella. We get Bella’s point of view, which raised the tension level to great heights as the players she was dealing with were dangerous, resourceful and ruthless. Discovery of her identity would also put her at risk because of her relationship to J. T. and her being a former policewoman.
Human trafficking is insidious and this story offers an inside view of the horrors experienced by these young girls and women. The author doesn’t hold back, making this an uncomfortable but insightful reading experience at times. The conflict between Lucy and her new manager was highly interesting, especially as I could empathize with both sides and hoped for an outcome that would leave both of them whole. The narrator delivered another great performance, adding distinctions to the many voices crucial in the story. She made a suspenseful and thrilling experience even more exciting, reinforcing my commitment to listening to this series.

Former police officer Bella Caruso has been searching for fourteen-year-old Hope Anderson who was sold to a group of human traffickers by her stepfather. Bella has infiltrated a group that is expanding their territory east and things are getting dicey for her. When her brother, J.T. Caruso, finds out that Bella's police contact was killed by the group, he asks for help from the FBI, DEA, and his own security company. FBI Special Agent Lucy Kincaid is assigned to a task force to rescue Bella and stop the traffickers. Finding Bella will not be easy, especially when Bella says she won't quit until she finds Hope.
This is the 13th book in the Lucy Kincaid series. Lucy has been doing "busy work" assigned by her new boss who doesn't seem to like Lucy at all. Even though she has not complained about any assignment, Lucy can't seem to win over her new supervisor. I liked this storyline. Though the new supervisor, Rachel Vaughn, has some reason to be upset with Lucy, she is over-the-top in her methods of dealing with it. When the FBI's top brass assigns Lucy to the task force without consulting Rachel, it looks like their relationship will never recover.
A lot of the story is about Bella and the group she has infiltrated. I thought she took too many dumb chances. She had the chance to be rescued early in the book; but turned it down thinking she would get more information about Hope. That drove me a bit crazy. My rating: 4 Stars.

BREAKING POINT is the second book I have read by Allison Brennan and the first solo Lucy Kincaid book. The book I read previously was SHATTERED in the Max Revere series, but Lucy Kincaid had a big role in the book as well. And, I know after reading SHATTERED that I needed to read more books by Allison Brennan. So, I was very pleased to get the latest Lucy Kincaid book.

I started this book and then had to put it aside for a time. Human trafficking and serial killers are my two least favorite tropes, and I just wasn't in the right mind to finish this book when I started it. I'm glad that I picked it up again because it is a fantastic book. I love the Lucy Kincaid Series and find Lucy to be an amazing character. In "Breaking Point" we see Lucy do what she does best with the added burden of a boss who just doesn't trust her and how Lucy handles that all too real work situation while saving the world.
RCK stands for Kane Rogan, JT Caruso, Jack Kincaid. They are partners in a private security investigation firm and have added other family as needed. Of them all we know the least about JT Caruso and now his sister, Bella, is in deep trouble and needs everyone to help get her out. Bella is deep undercover with a brutal human trafficking ring that also traffics young girls. Bella survived that experience as a 14-year-old and is committed to finding a missing girl, Hope. For a year she has searched for her, saving the girls she can along the way. Her life experience and being a former cop have helped her survive, but time is running out.
Alerted that Bella is in danger, JT Caruso and RCK begin to unravel the ring and desperately try to find Bella. But Bella isn't leaving until she finds Hope and could very well end up dead if her cover as "Doc" is blown. When JT reaches out for help, even the Assistant Director of the FBI, Rick Stockton is all in to help. Lucy is committed to helping, even knowing she could lose her job, or at the very least, make a bad work situation worse. Sean works his magic and is all comes down to if they can reach Bella before she is killed.

After a bit of a slow start with the set up, this turned out to be one of the more enjoyable books in the series. The rest of the book was pretty fast-paced and switching back and forth between the various main players in this book was done very well to keep the tension up.
Bella, a character who hadn't appeared in previous books, was an interesting character and after about half of the book I felt like she was a member of the group from the beginning.
I liked the fact that Lucy had to face some friction with her new boss. Sometimes it feels like everyone automatically likes her and it was refreshing to see someone call her out for not completely following the rules -- even though I totally get why she stretches the rules sometimes.
This is a series that I continue to enjoy. It hasn't become stale and the stories haven't become repetitive. I like the fact that even though it's the "Lucy Kincaid" series many other recurring characters are featured in these books. Characters I have become just as attached to as Lucy and Sean. Their involvement helps keeps these stories fresh, especially considering some of the dark subject matter in the cases they work on.

I've read a few books by Allison Brennan, including a couple in the series featuring Lucy Kincaid. I was a little worried coming in part way through after not having read the last few... however, that was actually not my biggest stumbling block when I first started this book.
It was more the 'other' players and their backstories. I really did feel like I'd inadvertently walked into someone else's party and didn't know anyone and kept missing the 'in' jokes. Names were being thrown around and I had NFI who anyone was. And I almost, almost.... ditched the book. But I'm very glad I didn't. Because, I may not have completely worked out who was who and what they all did, but I certainly became riveted by this story about two engaging and strong women: Lucy Kincaid and Bella Caruso.
The book kicks off with Bella's backstory. I'm not sure if she's previously featured in any of the novels in the series but her brother, JT, is a member of RCK (Rogan Caruso Kincaid) Protective Services and rescued her after her stepfather 'sold' her to a pimp when she was in her early teens.
When we next meet her (when the novel proper starts) she's infiltrated a prostitution ring (as a doctor to the girls and the various thugs hired to protect the boss and keep the girls and subcontracting madams in line). We learn however, that she's been a cop and fallen out with her brother in intervening years over her choice of employer.
Meanwhile, Lucy's grappling with a new boss who seems OTT harsh on her - a result of some recent unauthorised exploits I gather. But she's informally (then formally) pulled into the investigation of the prostitution ring. And for me the story picked up A LOT at that point. I enjoyed the tussle between Lucy and her new boss... the way her boss's lack of approval concerned her, her eagerness to please and play by the rules - despite being a natural rule-breaker.
And then of course there were the team of ex military types involving a plethora of Kincaids and Carusos. (Well one or two of each anyway!)
Cutting a long story short... when things get out of hand Bella has a chance to walk away from her undercover gig, but refuses until she locates the girl she came to find; and hoping to get enough on the major players to take them down and prevent more underage girls being coerced or sold into the life she escaped. Of course there's a race against time as it seems Bella's cover is close to being blown and we already know the men she works with have no problems getting rid of loose ends.
What started as a bit of a chore for me became really gripping and I couldn't get through the second half (or third) quickly enough, flicking through electronic page after electronic page to discover everyone's fate.
I'm not quite sure how the many players and organisations (from Bella and Declan to Simon Egan to Genesis Road [Adam and Laura] to RCK [JT, Jack, Kane and Sean] to Lucy and her colleagues) could be better explained or encapsulated succinctly; but my confusion (and lack of initial engagement) was probably the weakest part of this for me. Of course, if I'd read other books in the series this probably would not be an issue and I liked the various characters enough to want to get to know them better.

Allison Brennan writes a great series with Lucy Kincaid. Lucy has been relegated to desk duty for the past couple of months because she lied to her new boss, who also seems to have another agenda where Lucy is concerned. Lucy has apologized to her boss (Rachel Grant), but to no avail. When RCK starts an investigation in to what is a big human trafficking business that has a couple of undercover cops and a civilian involved. They ask Lucy to be a part of this case - Lucy explains to them (one of which is her husband), that she is in the unforeseeable doghouse that only the FBI's AD can spring her from.
Human trafficking is big business for some really nasty players, and it seems to be a recurring theme amongst writers. I did enjoy this book, and highly recommend this series to others!

Breaking Point combines the Kincaids, Rogans and RCK Protective Services into a thrilling story about human trafficking.
Even though this is technically a Lucy Kincaid series – the main heroine of this book is Bella Caruso. She is JT Caruso's younger sister. JT has been a secondary character throughout many books.
When Bella was a teenager she was sold into sexual slavery by her father. Her brother JT, who had been away serving in the Marines was the one to rescue her when he found out what their father had done. Since then she has been a cop and now works for a private organization who mission is to rescue under age girls from sex trafficking. Bella has been undercover in a dangerous prostitution ring. She has been trying to save as many girls as she can. She managed to save two but there is one missing girl she wants to find before she leaves. Her mission is admirable but by staying to long she has put herself at even greater risk.
FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid has a new boss and the two don't play well together. Lucy is initially asked to help find Bella by JT but soon after the body of a dead of a police officer is linked to the prostitution ring the FBI is pulled in officially.
This was a good book but it did IMO suffer from way to many characters/groups/organizations/bad guys – it was almost impossible to keep up with them all. But Bella's story – past, present and her present after its all over – was heartbreaking and one emotional ride.

This was my first book by Allison Brennan and also book 13 (yes, thirteen) in the Lucy Kincaid series. I think with how long the series is it read fine as a standalone. I didn't feel like I was missing a lot of information. So if you're thinking about jumping into this one but are hesitant because it's so far into a series, there's no need to worry!

Despite her extensive background and experience in hunting down human traffickers, Kincaid has discovered this will be her most difficult case yet. Bella is on a mission to find this missing girl - not only is she in too deep, but she doesn't want to be found.
This book definitely falls under the category of romance suspense. I didn't realize it was in that genre until I began reading (and after I went and found it on release day in the romance section of the book store!). So this has that guilty pleasure vibe to it while still being a great thriller. I really liked Bella and Lucy. Two great female leads that will stop at nothing to protect other women from having to experience abuse and to help them escape human trafficking.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I would definitely go back and read the beginning of the series to get to know Lucy Kincaid a little better!

JT Caruso’s little sister, Bella, has gone deep undercover to save a young girl from a dangerous prostitution ring. He has decided to take matters into his own hands and asks FBI Special Agent Lucy Kincaid to help get her out.
Bella Caruso reminds me a lot of Lucy. She has gone through a very similar ordeal as Lucy did and her mindset to save other young women is just as strong as Lucy’s. She’s also extremely stubborn. She knows she’s in too deep and knows that she should get out, but continues to hold out hope that she will find that one girl she is looking for. Bella is determined, loyal and honest (at least with the girls), just a great character.
There are some pretty rough characters in this book. Ruthless and sadistic characters. The subject matter is just as heartbreaking as the other books in this series, but this book gives the reader a more detailed experience with Bella.
Boy, Lucy has her work cut out for her with her new boss. This women is bound and determined to keep Lucy in her place and obedient. She has a lot to learn. They may have come to a mutual understanding toward the end, but I see more conflict in the future.
Bella Caruso reminds me a lot of Lucy. She has gone through a very similar ordeal as Lucy did and her mindset to save other young women is just as strong as Lucy’s. She’s also extremely stubborn. She knows she’s in too deep and knows that she should get out, but continues to hold out hope that she will find that one girl she is looking for. Bella is determined, loyal and honest (at least with the girls), just a great character.
There are some pretty rough characters in this book. Ruthless and sadistic characters. The subject matter is just as heartbreaking as the other books in this series, but this book gives the reader a more detailed experience with Bella.

Breaking Point by Allison Brennan tackles a difficult subject--the sex trade, especially involving underage girls. Brennan manages to illustrate this despicable practice in a way that clearly illustrates the horrific abuse without making it titillating.
Bella Caruso is undercover with a trafficking ring, trying to locate one particular girl. During the rescue of two underage girls, a policeman is murdered, and Bella's position becomes even more dangerous.
Bella's brother JT Caruso turns to Special Agent Lucy Kincaid for help, but Lucy is in a difficult situation with her immediate boss. Nevertheless, Lucy gets involved and gives all her energy to rescuing Bella...and hopefully, the young girl for whom Bella has been searching.
Good characterization of a plenitude of characters gives this suspenseful novel the depth it needs. Although there is a lot of backstory referring to events in previous books, these are seamlessly worked in and do not feel like information dumps.
I've only read one other novel by Brennan and the same combination of well-developed characters and suspense applied. This was one of those books that was difficult to put down, the pace is fast, and I couldn't believe how quickly I read through it.

Started off well but then it slowed down and dragged. I felt like there were too many characters running around, all of them had some kind of problems and issues to solve. I wanted to follow Bella: how she can dodge bad guys while trying to find and rescue Hope and other girls. But instead we get to read that Lucy's new boss is a bitch, there's lots of information from previous books that didn't feel relevant to current storyline. Sadly this series isn't one of those that have books that can be read as a standalones -- in order to understand the relationships between the characters you should have read previous books in LK's series or be confused. I haven't, so it was my mistake to jump in later. But I've started to hate this kind of series because when you read a lot, then its quite impossible to keep track of all those characters, relationships and plots. I am also getting tired of prostitution and human trafficking plots and sadly this one sounded like the same type of story line I've already read numerous times before. The narration starts out strong and intense, Bella was sold by her step father and with the abuse she endured, the manipulation of her identity, she feared that she would loose her life and those that she loved. It was dangerous for her to care about anyone. Close to a breaking a point she eventually was rescued by her brother former navy seal turned private investigator.
With what Bella went thru, she now is on mission to stop the billion dollar industry, one cell at time, rescuing one girl at a time. She is in deep going under cover as doctor with a group of traffickers that are planning to grow their operation. Bella is looking for a girl, much like herself and she is determined to help her. Rescue her and any others without breaking her cover.
Bella's brother JT is working with his sister in the undercover operation and asks for Lucy Kincaid FBI agent's help. With their resources, they need to determine where the operation is going and who is supplying. The intensity grows as Bella stays in character while bringing some very bad men to justice.
With more people aware of human trafficking, it can still be incredulous that this can happen. It is amazing how this industry is works thru bogus business and the manipulation of women using fear and cutting them down. It does happen. The characters are strong in Breaking Point and are driven to help these women recover and to expose those that abuse them. Slavery is real. I thought the book brought some sobering details to light. The recovery of the women rescued and how the victims are moved and manipulated. My kind of thriller, informative and engaging.

We get to meet Bella, JT Caruso's younger sister in this. At 13, she was sold by her stepfather to a prostitution ring whilst JT was deployed overseas as a Navy SEAL. It took him over a year to find and rescue her. Now, she's a retired police detective and working undercover privately to find a young girl who's been sold. When the cop helping her was killed, JT knows Bella is in trouble and enlisted Lucy's aid.
But Lucy is having her own trouble at work with her new boss Rachel, who believes she's been given too much leeway by FBI Assistant Director Rick Stockton (who was a SEAL teammate of JT). Lucy has been benched to review cold cases. When Rick put Lucy in charge of the taskforce to rescue Bella, Rachel is livid and refused to allow Lucy any assistance from her office and team.
Apparently the antipathy Rachel had against Lucy arose because Lucy lied about going back to San Diego to investigate her nephew's cold case after her honeymoon. It turned out there's another book Shattered which is a crossover with Brennan's Max Revere series in which Lucy and Max worked the case together. It would have been nice to have read that before this to get more of a sense of Rachel's antagonistic attitude towards Lucy and the extraordinary lengths she went to keep track of Lucy's movements.
Essentially the book is three-pronged. We have Bella's undercover situation, JT's desperate rescue operation and Lucy's investigation into the prostitution ring. Pretty much everyone gets involved. But I did find it strange that Noah is MIA for most of it. I think there might be an explanation that I've missed.
This series has really grown on me and I'm now really invested in all the Rogans, Kincaids and now the Carusos!

The name of the author of this book, Breaking Point is Allison Brennan. This is a story in her Lucy Kincaid series. That's all I needed to see to know that by picking up this book I was about to have a very exciting, very suspenseful adventure.
As expected this story has a very well-thought-out. well-developed plot with lots of surprises and suspense. As well as being a story about one of my favorite characters, Lucy Kincaid and the various other personalities that are usually featured in the Lucy Kincaid series this story also highlights Bella Caruso, sister to J.T. Caruso of RCK, Rogan-Caruso-Kincaid Protective Services. In this book Bella Caruso, pretending to be a doctor, is deep undercover with a prostitution/human trafficking ring. Bella is such a complex character yet Allison Brennan brings her to life in such a way that the reader can empathisize with her as well as stress with her about the part she plays in assisting such despicable characters. I found myself rooting loudly for Bella's cause and success. I'm sure readers will enjoy following Bella through her trials and successes in this story.
A story about prostitution/human trafficking and all the ugliness that surrounds this is a hard story to write I'm sure. It's a hard story to read at times because the plight of these victims is heart-wrenching. Add in the fact that this story highlights the trafficking of young girls and that makes it even tougher to read or even think about. I appreciate though that this author has the courage to bring this major scar on the face of humanity into the light of day. Allison Brennan does an excellent job of bringing the poignancy and tragedy of this to the reader's attention. I commend her for how well she has researched this tragedy and her excellent skill in writing about this while telling such a suspenseful tale.
This is a masterfully written suspense story and I highly recommend this book!

This is the first Lucy Kincaid book I read, and I now see that it is #13 in the series, so I am sure that I missed a bit. Most of the book sucked me in, but the ending seemed so overly dramatic that I found it hard to believe, as though it was meant to be a Hollywood movie.
I liked that there were lots of strong woman characters. I also liked the depiction of a workplace where men and women worked together closely and respectfully without any romance. There were lots of friendships and platonic loving feelings between men and women, men and men, and siblings. The show of other sorts of love besides romantic love was refreshing.
I have a daughter around the age of many of the women abducted and abused, so it was painful to listen to parts of the book. It probably would have been better if I had read the text so I could more easily skim the worst parts.

Some of the hardest books to read emotionally for me are the best. This one is no different. The fight against human trafficking, which is a difficult thing to even contemplate, is the topic of this book and it's consequences. But the other part is what it does to families and how each react.
Bella lived it and is now fighting it as hard as she can. She is trying to find Hope and the is will she find her before she is killed. Her brother JT is a partner in RCK and when he gets a message from her partner that she's in trouble he vows to bring her home.
Lucy and her new boss are having problems but she never would have thought her boss would be following her. When she finds out how though will she be able to hold it together? Will she be on this case?
This book is Amazing! And I love it.

Another good story in the Lucy Kincaid series. I had to go back and read this one as I skipped over it. This was less about Lucy and more about Bella. Lots happened and Bella's story isn't over so I hope we hear more about her in upcoming books.
Subject matter of this book definitely makes you think about the questions "what would you do to survive? " How far would you cross the line to survive". I'm really thankful not to be in that position.

Good harsh story. I was not into it at first because if it was doing too much involving too many different people that were closely related to Lucy and her family and extended family but I’m glad I did not put the book down, after I got past that I could not put the book down. She goes over the top a little but she brought a harsh reality that makes us realize what goes on in the “underworld“.

The story was great. However, I listened to this as an audiobook. The voice of the narrator was awful. There is no way that Bella or Lucy have a breathless, weak, tentative voice. If it wasn’t for the fact that I was on a long drive and bored, I would have given up.

After her brother rescued her from that nightmare, she went on to become a police officer, then into private security, so that she could help others that ended up in the same situation as she had.
When the grandparents of a young teenage girl contacted her boss about their granddaughter missing, they found out that the step-father had sold her to a human trafficking/prostitution ring. Bella was sent in undercover to find the missing girl, but instead it became so much more than she bargained for. When one of their rescues went bad, things heated up quickly on all sides, including her partner contacting J.T., who in turn brought in the FBI, which included Lucy Kincaid-Rogan.
With many unexpected twists and turns, danger all around, and everyone constantly on the move, Bella was still determined to find the missing girl, even at the cost of her own life. Now with it being an official investigation, more resources were utilized, and they were able to narrow down where Bella was, but there was a player who no one expected to be involved, which might just be Bella's downfall. Can the FBI, RCK, and the many other officers involved find and rescue Bella before it's too late? Will they be able to track down the missing girl that started her on this extremely dangerous journey? This is definitely a story that you won't want to miss!

Brennan's No Evil Trilogy first introduced the Kincaid family, (which was absolutely amazing and definitely a must read) and from there the Lucy Kincaid series was created. This series has included all of the members of both the Kincaid and Rogan families, and now has brought more of the Caruso family. All three families are linked to the Rogan Caruso Kincaid security firm, aka RCK, which has been involved in numerous investigations with Lucy and the FBI.
Although each book in the series could be read as a stand alone, it might be difficult to keep up with the numerous characters, families, etc., if you haven't read any of the previous books. I would strongly suggest that you start from the beginning of the series, and if you want even more background on the Kincaid family, I highly recommend the No Evil Trilogy prior to that. Every book by Brennan is fantastic, and you won't be disappointed!

In a series as long as the Lucy Kincaid series, it's sometimes important to make the protagonist of the series exist in the background – to a certain extent. In this particular novel, the focus is on Bella Caruso, or Dr. Isabella Carter if you're going by her well-detailed alias. Bella lived through a horror similar to Lucy's past, but much longer. She was sold into a prostitution ring by her own father to pay a debt, but luckily her brother, J.T. – a member of RCK Protective Services – found her after she had been in deep for fifteen months. Now Bella has made it her mission to help other girls like her: ones forced into prostitution against their will who have yet to reach their breaking point, and still waiting to be rescued.
Lucy, on the other hand, is having a never-ending problem with her new supervisor, Rachel Vaughn. Due to being on her honeymoon, Lucy wasn't in the office when Rachel took over for SSA Armstrong, and felt as though she was playing catch up in her work and relationship with Rachel. But Rachel never trusted her, and let that be known, so when – in the last book – Lucy went to work on a cold case with investigative reporter Maxine Revere in San Diego, she lied to her boss, who found out. Now Rachel is pulling a lot of bordering-on-illegal moves in order to keep tabs on Lucy. But she quickly discovers that this isn't going to work because not only does Lucy have friends in high places, but she is overqualified for her job.

Due to being on her honeymoon, Lucy wasn't in the office when Rachel took over for SSA Armstrong, and felt as though she was playing catch up in her work and relationship with Rachel. But Rachel never trusted her, and let that be known, so when – in the last book – Lucy went to work on a cold case with investigative reporter Maxine Revere in San Diego, she lied to her boss, who found out. Now Rachel is pulling a lot of bordering-on-illegal moves in order to keep tabs on Lucy. But she quickly discovers that this isn't going to work because not only does Lucy have friends in high places, but she is overqualified for her job.
Assistant Director Rick Stockton assists J.T. Caruso and the rest of RCK in their plan to extract Bella from her stint as an undercover doctor in a prostitution ring. Stockton calls to have Lucy put on his task force, undermining Vaughn's authority. But what Lucy manages to pull off despite the roadblocks that Vaughn puts before her, is nothing short of incredible. Lucy, her team, and the FBI manage to make history because of the level of methodical planning, caring, and desire to rescue these girls from a life that they, nor anyone, would ever want.
