This is not a fair review for the author, but I write these so I remember not to get the book again from library! Actually I love to collect cookbooks but prefer to get at library first to read, sample recipes and decide worth buying. This book is not for me! Not for one recipe. This is unfortunate because I want more low carb dinners in my diet! Will look into other books. NEGATIVE I only found one recipe that I WANTED to make! POSITIVE but that one recipe The Buffalo Chicken Casserole is delish! Also the book is beautifully photographed!
Our library has an exceptional collection of keto cookbooks. I've been slowly but steadily checking them out and reviewing them by reading them, then trying several of the recipes within. I acquired this one most recently. And it's going back very soon.
These recipes sound quite delicious but they are waaaay too much work for me. The ingredients are a bit too "fancy" as well. I'm not even up to trying one of these to see if they're any good. I feel overwhelmed by the whole book - I'm too busy and my three year old wouldn't touch most of what's found here. After sitting for a half hour flipping pages with a post it pad in hand, not one of them intrigued me enough to flag and try. I'm not a shy cook... I just came up empty. This is a hefty book and full of lots of great photos but I'm going to pass on this one and move on.
I just received this book a few days ago, and right away started making the cheddar biscuits and gravy. These biscuits were extremely easy to make, and tasted JUST LIKE the ones from Red Lobster! I was so thrilled, as I have tried other Keto biscuits and had to throw them away. I own Maria's Keto Restaurant Favorites book and enjoy that one as well (my favorite keto cookbook), and my husband loves all the recipes I make! If you are starting eating Keto, and bored of alot of recipes, definitely look into this book to recreate some of you favorite recipes.
I like that Maria Emmerich focuses on eating whole, unprocessed foods as much as possible and includes sweeteners for the occasional meals rather than in the day-to-day recipes. I really like that she offers alternatives for dairy free, nut free, and egg free options. There are a lot of delicious looking recipes in this book! I love the colorful pictures!
Many of these recipes are fairly complicated. And some of them have a bit of a learning curve where you can do some thing wrong and waste expensive ingredients. I also dislike recipes that have dependencies on other recipes in the book. I found a few good ones and will probably try them out but overall I can’t rate it very high for the number of dependent recipes and odd ingredients.
A couple good recipes so far and at least 2 game-changing cooking tips so for me this is a good one to have on hand. I do think a person would want to be comfortable with low-carb and sugar free cooking since it does taste a bit different. The Chipotle Lime Steak soup was pretty good and the Pulled Pork was excellent.
I absolutely love Maria and the way she helps people. I was really hoping to find simpler recipes as it is targeting those new to this way of eating. I found that most were time consuming or different foods than I'm familiar with.
All the food in this book looked awesome, but with the specific ingredients for some of the recipes it might be a little much to try to make these yourself unless you are really getting into the Keto diet. But a great cook book with a nice array of recipes and pictures.
Can't wait to try some of these comfort foods! My husband is a type 2 diabetic and hopefully these recipes will help him to jump on the hero bandwagon! Also pleasantly surprised to find the author is a fellow Wisconsinite! Go Pack Go!
What a beautifully done cookbook. I can’t say enough on how well organized and clearly presented this book is. Thank you for all the hard work that clearly went into each and every page.
I have so many earmarked to try and made my first recipe today. And actually, the one I made was a combo of 2...the red-eye gravy and ham with keto grits. So yummy! Can’t wait to try all the other recipes!
The desserts looked good? Good use of various indexes and strong description of specialty aspects of keto cooking. But. I picked zero recipes to record/try from it. (I would have done desserts, but I don't need those ) Would definitely recommend to someone not as picky as I am though.
I don't have a sweet tooth so a lot of the recipes weren't really for me. That said, there is enough savoury here to keep me occupied for a while. And there is no denying that the photos are gorgeous.
Beautiful pictures, and the recipes sounded wonderful, but this book was one big advertisement for Swerve. I am trying to break my addition to chemical sweeteners (Good Bye Diet Pepsi) and have no interest in using products made with erythritol as they cause gastric upset.
This is by far my FAVORITE keto cookbook yet! Oh my gosh! The recipes in this are fantastic! I have made and remade so many recipes and they are so good.
This is a beautiful cookbook. In have tried many of the recipes and most were very good. The only thing I didn’t like were some of the ingredients are hard to find in my area.
