After volume 1, this was quite a let down. Too much narration was used to keep the story moving, and not enough dialogue. I think they just tried to cram too much into one volume.

A visual masterpiece. If you've read the book, you'll love the graphic novel. Barker's work translates amazingly well to this format. Chris Ryall and Gabriel Rodriguez were obviously the right team for this project. A big thank you to whoever put them together with Clive Barker!

The story is about a man's journey to discover the secret world he senses is just out of reach. Bits and pieces of the puzzle come his way and he discovers an ambition in himself he never knew he had. To learn the secret, read this book!

I did not rate this higher because, for a graphic novel, it can get a bit verbose at times. This slowed down the pace for me as a reader at times. Having said that, this is a very rich work with much depth. It is a tale of a battle between good and evil forces and those folks who get caught up in the battle. And it all starts in a dead letters section of a post office (or so it seems).

Readers who have enjoyed works by Stephen King, such as The Stand, and the more recent series by Hill, Lockey & Key, which I have read, will probably enjoy this. The art, which is pretty good, did remind me of the style you see later in Locke & Key. This is a graphic novel adaptation that you need to take the time to read, but it is a good, entertaining read. I would be curious to see if other books in the Books of the Art series have been given the graphic novel treatment as well. I am curious to read the rest of the series at some point, see how things turn out. This kind of novel does lend itself to adaptation. So, a nice read, but for me, it could be a bit slow. Still, if you like Clive Barker or similar writers, you will probably enjoy it.

It was fun to get reacquainted with this work of Mr. Barker's through this medium. The writer and artist did a fine job of interpreting the source material and making it a beautiful thing to behold.

I always love taking trips into Clive's worlds, they always fascinate me as they make me think, all the while entertaining me as well.

An interesting story, I enjoyed reading it, but it was rather confusing. I feel like there must be something I'm missing that would cause the story to make sense.

The story is somewhat washed to make it available for all kinds of public, that's just fine, but the drawing is too cartoonish to depict the real horror and wonder of the original novel

If you liked the novel you should seriously check this out. The artwork alone is pretty crazy.

Read this one a long time ago. Probably close to 20 years. Barker has always been a favorite of mine, ever since I devoured his Damnation Game. His imagination is as vast as it is twisted, creating interesting characters and landscapes that most people couldn't imagine. Great read.
