Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

I’m very surprised that I’m not tired of reading the same two stories out of this over and over and over. My C3PO and Vader voices are pretty good now! Working on my Obi-Wan.

These stories are a perfect length for just before bedtime, giving readers little scenes from the films. Each story was a pleasant revisit for the adult reading the stories (makes me want to watch the films right now) and a fun introduction to the Star Wars universe for the young child being read to. The smallest member of the household has requested more Star Wars 5-minute stories, so I'll be on the hunt for more books!

... While reading this collection, I might have censored a particular scene in Cloud City: I just casually covered the text with my hand subtle-like, and changed a few words as I read aloud. The audience didn't notice. Trying to preserve the reveal! haha

I love these short re-tellings of different adventures in the Star Wars movies. This particular volume covered every film out so far, except Rogue One. The book included some great artwork depicting scenes from the films in vibrant colors. My kids really enjoyed this one as it is perfect for the attention span of young children, by including great illustrations and simply story telling.

The Star Wars Saga in micro cosim... Really cool actually. My daughter picked this up and thought of me. Each chapter corresponds to one of the movies in summery so that one might tell your 5 year old the entire Star Wars story line(?) minus any major violence of course... But, not without the famous impromptu romantic line. . . "I know" in there. Fun.

The illustrations are great. This collection includes stories from Episodes 1 - 8. Many of the stories are altered to make sense as a single story or to be more kid-friendly, and they certainly make no attempt to tell the "whole stories" from each film.

Dad read this book to me! It has some really hard words but I’m sure I’ll understand them when I can start watching the movies. It’s hard to imagine all of the different worlds right now because I’m still getting to know this world!

2nd in a series of children’s books covering select scenes from the films. A great intro for younger kids to the worlds of Star Wars. And a great nostalgic trip for adults. The illustrations are well-done, and the stories stick to the plots/scripts of the films.

This is scenes for star Wars written for kids. It has all the main moves of the time (it was written right before Rise of Skywalker came out so everything prior to that point). It seems that it needed at least 1 story for each movie, and it does just that for the prequels, and is rather heavy on sequel stories. I read the first few stories to my nephew, using vocal impression of the characters. The stories chosen have action in them, with some of the most violent elements toned down in some cases, but they often aren't the most interesting scenes, but that might be because as I understand, there were other books in this series that covered those. They are in chronological order but each could be read independently, so there are often character introductions of characters we have already seen if reading all the way through. It does include my favorite sequel character DJ, but that is in a scene I don't care for and doesn't really include his betrayal, but a lot was cut for space and to not make too complicated for kids.

3 Stars. The illustrations are great. The stories are pretty good. Could be written better and wish it had less big spoilers though. Almost don’t want to read it to my kid cuz it would ruin the big reveals in the movies. Also missing the final movie so there’s no real conclusion. But it was still pretty enjoyable.
