A good, easy read for young readers (my grandson). Although, he informed me, “I already know about Martin Luther King.” So, I read it out loud to him. 😉

Martin Luther King Jr. A Peaceful Leader is a great book for children to read and learning about him from. It is a simple book for developing readers that is full of great information. The story uses simple paragraphs that students can read as new readers. It could be used for younger or older readers, especially young new readers.

This is a great early reader biography of the great Martin Luther King, Jr. A simplified account of his life and his work that still manages to get the message across to a young audience and hopefully will make them seek out more titles about him.

Includes a timeline and additional informational sections with historical photographs.

A simple retelling about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in beginning reader format. Albee pulls no punches as she describes what growing up was like for him and includes several incidents of racial discrimination and discusses his work for civil rights. A timeline and family photographs are appended at the end of the book.

Artwork by Chin Ko is at times cartoony and others a bit more realistic in nature, always supporting the text.

Very useful for youngsters who want to read an introduction to Dr. King and his work.

A children's biography of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of our last planned homeschool readings for Black History Month . . .

I would consider this book to be a biography and a memoir because it is written by someone else about Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and why he is such an influential part of our history. This book is aimed towards ages 4 through 8.

I paired "Martin Luther King Jr.: A Peaceful Leader" with the fiction book called "We March"
by Shane W. Evans. This book talks about an African American family getting ready to march in a history event. I think these two books go together because the fiction book will help students see the impact that Martin Luther King Jr. had on families and why it was important for these people to stand up for what they believe in. The fiction book is a good way for these students to get an idea of the things that happened during the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
