These adventures were told to me in the old days by Arsene Lupin, as though they had happened to a friend of his, named Prince Renine. As for me, considering the way in which they were conducted, the actions, the behaviour and the very character of the hero, I find it very difficult not to identify the two friends as one and the same person. Arsene Lupin is gifted with a powerful imagination and is quite capable of attributing to himself adventures which are not his at all and of disowning those which are really his. Maurice Leblanc (1864 - 1941) was a French novelist, best known as the creator of gentleman thief (later detective) Arsène Lupin.

Leblanc began as a journalist, until he was asked to write a short story filler, and created, more gallant and dashing than English counterpart Sherlock Holmes.

Arsene Lupin is like a detective here who solves mysteries and he doesn’t even use his own name. Where is the lupin everyone knows and loves? A bit of a dissapointing read to be honest.

aAAA i LOVEd it
It was basically a small collections of dates Lupin had :D It was nice because Hortense, his companion in a book was really bored with her life, wanting to do something *adventurous*. And I know its a Lupin book, but he actually does good deeds here. Helping lovers, bringing justice to the innocent people, solving funny lil mysteries and at the same time falling in *love*. I really enjoy the way Leblanc wrote him realizing he's feeling something more for Hortense and vice versa. It was all written with respect and the female character actually behaved like a human?? AAAh it was basically like a long fluff fanfic, definitely one of my favs from the whole series.

في هذه المرة، لا تقابل أرسين لوبين اللص الظريف الذي اعتدناه، بل تكتشف وجهًا آخر له: أرسين لوبين المحقق، الذي يذكّرك بشيرلوك هولمز، لكن في هيئة الأمير رنين.

أما الترجمة، فهي تتأرجح بين المقبولة والجيدة، لكنها لا تبلغ حد الروعة. فالإبداع في الترجمة لا يكمن في نقل الكلمات، بل في إيصال الأحاسيس والمشاعر التي أراد الكاتب أن يُشعرك بها.

Е, в повечето случаи.

Βαρετό και αδιάφορο. Οι ιστορίες παραείναι αναχρονιστικές ακόμα και για την εποχή που γράφτηκαν. Ο Άρσέν Λουπέν, χαλαρά τραμπουκίζει ψυχολογικά το κόσμο και ξερογλείφεται σαν λιγούρι μπροστά στη γοητευτική Όρτάνς, τερματίζει το αντιπαθητικόμετρο. Επόμενη γραμμή...

It's with great sadness that I must report this book was yet another flop. I don't know where the real Arsene Lupin has gone but this imposter is pitiful.

With that said I will have to take a break in my quest to finish the entire series. I hope to continue this journey again soon and desire the future book to be better

كتاب فرنسي من سلسلة الشخصية المغامرة الذكية أرسين لوبين. للأمانة القصه كانت ممتعه وفي وقتها، من بعد انقطاع شهر كامل عن قراءة الكتب. كتاب روائي طفولي يتكلم عن شخصية تخاطر في كل لحظات ويحالفها الحظ والفوز دائما، جميع الأحداث والشخصيات تنصب في صالح الشخصيه الرئيسية للكتاب. الكتاب عبارة عن ٨ فصول، ولكل فصل رحله جديدة بين الشخصية الرئيسية وصديقتة الجديدة أورتنس.

انا اعيد وأكرر كلمة الشخصية الرئيسية والسبب اسم "أرسين لوبين" فقط في عنوان الكتاب والمقدمه. شخصية الكتاب الرئيسية الامير رنين. ما عجبتني هذي الحركه، فقط في صفحه النهايه كاتبين ان الاسم المستعار ا ارسين لوبين هو الامير رنين (ليش احتجت أقرأ غلاف الكتاب علشان اعرف الرابط بين الامير رنين وارسين لوبين) !!!!

فكرة الروايه جدا جميله ، الإطار العام للروايه وفكرة القصه جميله جدا. لكن الاحداث والتحقيق ومجرى القصه عبيييط وخارج عن المألوف!
بشكل عام، احترت بالتقييم (هل ٣ او ٣.٥!!!) ادري ان الكتاب مو قويه بالحبكه وترتيب الاحداث والطرح لكن استمتعت بالقراءه واعتقد هذا الأهم، أقيم الكتاب ٣.٥

ملاحظة ايجابية:
- أول مره أقرأ عن شخصية أرسين لوبين أو بالأحرى الأمير رنين
- لا تقرأ الكتاب متقطع! أقرأ كل فصل (٣٠ صفحه) بروحه.

ملاحظة سلبيه:
- الاحداث تصب في مصلحه الشخصيه الرئيسيه
- النهاية سيئه

تمر أورتِينس دانيال "ذات 26 عام" بظروف سيئة حيث بدد زوجها الكونت أيجليروش "الرجل الخفيف العقل وشبه مجنون" مهرها وعمها الكونت المسؤول الأول بهذا الزواج وهو الآن لا يرغب بتحمل المسئولية سوء اختيار الزوج، ولكونها لا تستطيع الطلاق منه لذا وعلى إثر مشادة بينها وبين عمها الكونت تقرر أورتينس الهرب مع السيد روسيني، ولكن الأمير سيرج رنين يثقب إطار السيارة لمنعها من باب الواجب حيث كان الأمير رِنين ضيفاً لدى عمها منذ ثلاثة أيام وسمع مشادتهم.
يتوجه رنين و أورتينس لقلعة آلينجرالمهجورة من 20 عاماً لقضاء بعض الوقت وللتفكير، في أحد القاعات القصر يجدان ساعدة بندولية تدق ومن ثم تدق ثماني دقات، الساعة ذات الآلية البسيطة يمكنها العمل لاسبوع فقط، ومن ثم يجدان تلسكوب مخفي في الساعة، يتوجها للأعلى، وهناك يشاهدان من خلال التلسكوب جثتا رجل وامرأة يبدو انهما ماتا و بقيا هكذا إلى أن أكلت الغربان لحمهما.
يترك روسيني الأمتعة ومعها رسالة وداع ورحيل غاضبة، يخبر رنين الكونت بما شاهداه في قلعة بعد صعودهما البرج وعلى حافة البرج الآخر جثتين لرجل وامرأة هناك منذ اغتيالهما، مما يجعل الكونت يست��رب التخمين المباشر للإغتيال، وينفي إن سمع جريمة قتل أو اختفاء.
يبدأ الامير رنين بسرد الأدلة والفرضيات عن مقتل الشخصين التي يعترف بإرتكابها الكونت كونه المجرم الحقيقي لقتله زوجته و صديقها وبالمقاب�� يطلب منه رنين بإعادة ممتلكات أورتنس و دفن القتيلين بشكل لائق لقاء صمته.
يعرض رنين على أورتينس مرافقته في المغامرات الثماني على عدد دقات ساعة القصر.
• المغامرة الثانية كانت حل قضية وإنقاذ حياة جاك أوبريو المحكوم عليه اعدام بالمقصلة وهو بريئ من الجريمة المنسوبة إليه.
• حل لغز مقتل السيد جاك دامبرفال والذي وجد مقتولات في مقصورته مطعوناً بمنتصف ظهره.
• حل قضية إختطاف الفنانة روز آندريه.
• حل قضية جان لويس.
• حل قضية السيدة ذات الفأس.
• آثار على الثلج.
• الإلة عُطارد.

~ مراجعتي،،
مجموعة قصص جيدة إلى حد ما ولكنها ليست كجمال وروعة تحقيق شارلوك هولمز و مسيو بوارو ، وحتى بيري ميسن الأمريكي! أغلب الظن إنني لن أقرأ المزيد عن المحقق أرسين. لم يعجبني الأسلوب ولا طريقة التحقيق والحل السريع للقضايا التي هي غير مشوقة أساساً.

Always fun reading another Lupin.

This one has eight adventures/cases. Three of which I had previously read.

But in these his detective side is in charge, which is fine with me.
As much as I enjoy his gentleman thief persona, these stories are all about him helping others and getting nothing tangible in return.

He is, obviously, not using his true(?) identity.

There is, of course, a woman he’s infatuated with that he’s trying (successfully) to impress.
And he does outsmart all the police detectives who think the answer is obvious, and are ready to send the suspect to the guillotine.

Lupin’s way is more of the Sherlock deductive reasoning style. Sit back and think until the answers appear before him.

And making the detectives look bad makes him look good, which is always a plus with the ladies.

It was a great book, and I really liked it because all the short stories were excellent and weren’t becoming dreary. The only downside of this was that some of the stories were cut short, making me a but irritated.
the stories were exciting, as Arsene Lupin pulls off the the most clever tricks and disguises and leaves the police and detectives in the dust. It was so fun to see how those tricks worked and I really enjoyed it, especially on the parts where Lupin leaves a note mocking the police after a theft.

Vcelku zajímavé povídky, i když občas trochu překombinované (kupříkladu povídka o Hortensiině sestře). Prvních šest se mi ale docela líbilo. Problém jsem měla s postavou samotné Hortensie v posledních dvou, protože najednou Rénina nechtěla, ale vlastně chtěla, ale ne tak docela, ale přitom ano, ale možná ne, ale... Velmi rychle mi to začalo jít na nervy. Proto jenom tři hvězdičky.

Arsene Lupin, un gentleman desavarsit, ii promite 8 mistere pe care le va rezolva impreuna cu ea, astfel incat viata dansei sa fie mult mai palpitanta, fara a cere nimic in schimb.😁

Daca reuseste, intr-o perioada de 3 luni, sa rezolve cele 8 mistere, Arsene nu castiga nimic…nimic, doar zambetele femeii iubite, nimic, doar increderea ei, nimic, doar…inima ei?!

O carte la care am stat pana la 1 noaptea sa citesc, avand in vedere ca ma culc, de obicei, la 10-11.

Da, recomand 102%!

Mai este si 17 azi, recomand cu atat mai mult!

I loved this one. They are the little short stories explaining some adventures of Arsene Lupin, even dough he's not called that. This book reads more like a detective story, similar to Sherlock Holmes's ones, the stories themselves are amusing and incredibly interesting.
Overall, I was expecting all the stories to be much like this one or the first one, Arsene Lupin managing to do incredible things and doing theft, etc.

Riddled with reminders of the time period in which they were written, these stories are not without flaws. Setting that aside, the clever twisty mysteries shine! Unlike some other collections, this one has an overarching narrative uniting them - which for me was a fun touch.

Avoid the audiobook version narrated by Cate Barratt. Her inflection is odd and the audio quality is not great.

The author of this series continues to try new things with it, which I appreciate in an author of a popular series; he doesn't feel constrained to reproduce the thing everyone liked last time, which inevitably means some fans will be displeased. In Neil Gaiman's terminology, he's an otter, not a dolphin; he does a different trick each time.

This time, we see Lupin operating under one of his many aliases - the introductory note from the author claims that Lupin told these stories to him in the third person, but that he's sure the hero was Lupin himself. It's a nice way to trade on the popularity of an existing character while writing about, in a way, a different character. Because this is not Lupin the criminal (although he doesn't always stay within the law); we see "Prince Renine" acting as a freelance troubleshooter, ferreting out problems and injustices and solving them for people with Lupin's inimitable mix of brilliant insight, confident bluff and ready resourcefulness. He may prevent more crimes than he commits in this book, I think.

Part of his goal, aside from the inherent value of helping people and righting wrongs, is to impress and excite a young woman who he meets in the first of the eight linked stories. While Lupin is repeatedly unlucky in his loves through the series, he remains ever optimistic, and he's always at his moral best when there's a woman in the picture.

Unfortunately, the women, including this one, remain largely passive, acting more as an admiring audience than as effective characters with agency (though they occasionally do something important to assist him, it's usually a one-off). This woman has an opportunity to break out of this mould, but she muffs it, and Lupin has to step in and resolve the situation after all.

The problems are varied and the resolutions ingenious, and I continue to enjoy the series, though this isn't one of the best for me.

Естествено тук историята е разказана по романтичния и семпъл начин на Морис и в тона на епохата в която е писана, но въпреки това в нея прозира силата и оригиналността на идеята. За пореден път се убеждавам, че от Морис Лоблан и Артър Конан Дойл започват почти всички клишета в криминалетата и трилърите.

Arsène Lupin é um caçador de aventuras. Com uma inteligência acima da média, possui o dom nato de solucionar pequenos mistérios que, para ele, são “óbvios e triviais”. Diferente de Sherlock Homes, que é um homem da lei, Arsène Lupin é apenas um aventureiro e bon vivant.
O livro envolve dois personagens principais: Hortense Daniel, uma plebeia que iria casar a desgosto com um pedante conde Francês e o príncipe Rénine, que é a própria personificação de Arsène Lupin. Dividido em oito capítulos, cada qual com um mistério, o príncipe, ao salvar Hortense de um infeliz casamento, prometeu devolver-lhe uma presilha de corpete furtada de há anos. Caso ele consiga solucionar este último mistério até a oitava pancada do relógio, e um ano após sua primeira aventura juntos, ela concederá a sua mão em casamento. O livro, entretanto, peca pela edição e tradução. No mais, ele é um bom entretenimento.

Um livro divertido de ler, com histórias intrigantes, mas que revelam um problema grave desse tipo de história.

Esse livro conta a história da tentativa de Lupin em conseguir o amor de Hortense. Basicamente são oito tramas, que ele precisa resolver, enquanto Hortense segue ele. As tramas são relativamente simples, e mostram que Lupin não é ético, tão pouco possui escrúpulos, para conseguir o que quer, e no geral ele quer que sua vontade seja feita em todas as situações.

Meu problema com a história: tudo parece que sempre dá certo, a labia de Lupin que resolve os casos no fim, e sempre que alguns coincidência acontece, depois é revelado que ele já tinha planejado aquilo. A gente chama isso de plot-armor, ou poder do protagonista, mas a verdade é que isso as vezes deixa tudo meio previsível. Você sempre sabe que no fim vai dar certo.

Ainda assim, existem algumas surpresas no livro, algumas coisas inesperadas que dão certa qualidade ao livro.

A series of adventures undertaken by Lupin and his beloved, in his attempt to win her over and give her the experience and thrill of solving mysteries. Each chapter brings on a new puzzle for Lupin to solve and overall it was quite compelling. It was a bit confusing towards the end in terms of Hortense's feelings for Lupin, but I put that down to there being a male author. I'm not entirely sure if this would chronologically fall as the last in the Lupin series, as it seems like "The Teeth of the Tiger" would naturally be the finale, but I could see this being a sort of epilogue of a love story that happened somewhere along the way in the progress, perhaps even earlier on than "813." It is easy to read and entertaining to see how he solves each mystery.
