Reading as part of a boxed set. This should not be viewed as a standalone - there are too many outstanding questions that need to be answered at the end.
Well edited.
Megan and her friends, Jo and Abigail, go on vacation in Maine. While visiting a lighthouse, a mysterious fog swallows Megan and transports her to 1811 Maine. There, she runs into Everett Quinn, reformed pirate and supply (read blockade) runner. They run afoul of Zachariah Donovan, also a supply runner and the town tyrant. Poor Zachariah's wife has run off, and while searching he happens upon Megan and Everett. Zachariah decides he wants Megan, nevermind his missing wife. Competition ensues. Ships are burned. Some are wrecked. Megan and Everett find themselves in a fight for their lives. Will they survive? How and why did Megan end up in 1811? Will Everett believe her tale of the future?
So many questions - what is the purpose of Megan's time travel? What happened to Isabelle, Zachariah's wife? What happened to Megan's friends, Jo and Abigail? For that matter, what happens to Everett's friends, Nathan and Luke? And what about poor Meeshoe - swept away in a shipwreck? What exactly is going on in this sleepy little town? An easy read, but be prepared to read all three books if you want the full story. Enjoy.
