Three months have passed since Alexandra traveled through the wasted death fields to reach her sister, Jane. There’s no resemblance to her former life. No college. No best friend. Her mother is dead. Her father and her friend, Cole, toil away in the labs of her sister’s research facility, working to create a vaccine for the virus that ravages the living.
Hope for a cure is dampened by the growing society Jane has developed. Armed troops fill The Fort, and the only way Alex knows how to keep an eye on her sister is by joining the elite Fighter army led by Wyatt, a mercenary and deadly soldier. Some days, Alex considers him a friend. The rest of the time, she’s unsure where his loyalties lie. The truth is, Alex isn’t always sure about herself, either.
All Alex wants is to right the wrongs of her sister’s dangerous meddling, but Jane has bigger plans than vaccinating the survivors. Alex and her allies quickly learn that rabid cannibals are not the biggest problems facing mankind, but at what lengths will they have to go to save the world?
“I think everyone needs to be careful. It may feel like the world is gone, but it’s not. We’re in a battle for the future and right now we have the leverage, the vaccine. But that also means it’s a liability. It means we will have enemies coming for it. For us.”
I couldn’t wait to start this book. And it seemed like forever and a day before I could crack it open. But once I started I couldn’t put it down and I finished reading it the very next day. Then I immediately started book 3. I did, however, wanted to take a few minutes to show my love for this book before I get back to reading. THE GIRL WHO PUNCHED BACK is incredible, gruesome and has me so very obsessed. It’s one of those series you never want to stop reading.
I am totally team Wyatt. And also a bit team Cole. I love them both for many different reasons. But my heart of hearts wants Alex to end up with Wyatt. And if you are saying “Sigh. A love triangle?”…no, not really. But the author did do a surprisingly good job giving us options with the romance, without having it feel like we had to choose. When I read a book, even about zombies, I need a good romance to go with it. I feel that even if the world was withering away, people still need something like romance to tether them back to their former selves before they become completely lost to the death and destruction all around them. And I feel Lawson did that with this series.
This book did drive me insane in a entirely wonderful way. I would read and try to figure out how they would get out the current mess they were in...and they found themselves in a lot of messes. There was also the whole trust issue. Alex and her new friends had to figure out who in this new world they could trust. It ends up being a very small circle. But all this intrigue and mystery was what I loved about the book. It kept me going and my interest piqued.
THE GIRL WHO PUNCHED BACK was absolutely amazing, perfectly paced, action packed and even pulled at my emotions so many times throughout. Like I mentioned earlier, I had to start THE GIRL WHO KICKED A** immediately. So obviously this series is addictive. Now go read this series if you haven’t yet and let me get back to book 3. And then book 4 and so on. 5 Obsessed Stars!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I absolutely adored the first book in this series and i genuinely thought it i couldnt get any better, thought it couldn't be filled with any more action and this book came along and blew that opinion away! This book is amazing and i would definitely highly recommend this to everyone!!! I am dying for the next book already and the last few chapters will blow you away!!!!
Thos story really is so imaginative and so action packed it just makes your imagination latch onto it and you want to immerse yourself in it. You just can't help but keep turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next, there are so many surprises and unknowns throughout this whole book that it really does keep you on the edge of your seat!!!
I have to say that favourite character definitely has to be Wyatt! i love that we see bit of his personality and his past in this book, letting us get to know him a bit better! He is still very secretive and there is a lot about him that we don't know but he definitely keeps the action going!
This book is well deserving of the five stars i have given it and it is a compelling must read!!!
It took me a quite a few days to get through the first book in this series I bought the 1-3 box set and I finished the entire three of them this Memorial Day weekend! I just love the story line! I fell in love with end of the world sagas when I read Stephen kings the stand! I have searched high and low for another series to grip me the same way and I think I found it in this series!
I thought the next book couldn't get any better, but it did. Absolutely fantastic with adventure in every page. Alexandra is looking for her sister and three months have passed. The story moves along at a quick pace that has you wanting more. Loved reviewing this ARC
This was a fantastic book. Alex is suspicious her sister has much darker motives than saving the world. Alex is an easy character to route for, and she finds herself a crew of people who want to help her. The dynamics between her and Wyatt heat up and she finds she has a strong ally in him. I enjoyed the plot immensely and am excited to read the next book at the end of March. Great series!
Family dysfunction brought to a whole new level! When a scientific genius engaged in a new biological warfare meant to control the world everything that could go wrong does. So like any mad scientist instead of fixing the mass destruction they created they see it as a way to control how the new world will emerge and who gets to be in it. Definitely twisted with a lot of action.
This series is amazing, I’ve only just finished book two and I’m in complete awe. I seriously HAVE to know what happens next, there are so many twists and turns, surprises and entanglements that I couldn’t put the darn book down! What will happen to Alex and her group now? Will she see Wyatt again? Why won’t she just admit she loves Wyatt as much as Cole and #WhyChoose this situation?!? Damn, I have to go read book three now! I mean like this second and it’s midnight here!
In all honesty I only made it to chapter 4 of this book. That is because It brought all the worst of the cheese from the last book and had me rolling my eyes. It still has yet to explain how her sister, who didn’t even graduate college, magically because the CEO of this huge company. Also, she so very quickly hates her and it is hardly even thought through at all. Her fathers with her sister and no one care that her mom died and I don’t care about this book anymore.
Am I the only person here who is seriously confused as to how Jane became this crazy person and head of this company.... who was still in college....... I mean.... what?! That is so very confusing... I really hope that is explained better... The reat os the books goes a long fine... the story moves along at a good pace. The writing is also good. But my 3 stars is because of the big ol' wth with the sister and father... umm ya I'm gonna need a wee bit more on that one.

Wow, wow, wow! Our girl kicks so e major ass in this one. I always suspected Wyatt is attracted to her and falling in love. It is sort of confirmed even though she is still playing girl friend too the lab guy. Her sister is totally crazy and totally committed to destroying the world. Great follow up! Highly recommended!
This sequel did not disappoint. If anything the story just got better. It definitely avoided the second book slump of most series. The main character is even more kickass after training and who can't help but love a villain who thinks they're doing the right thing. Still in love with this series!
Thoroughly engrossing and entertaining. There are some errors, like characters being called by wrong names (one nurse has three names). Looking forward to the rest of the series and discovering more by the author
Don't they remember that she has a tracking chip in? No where she can hide or be alone! The plot thickens with more deceit and lies from family and friends.
I like this this book a lot more compared to the first one. Still has some cheese eye rolling moments and isn’t told in the best way. But overall it is a good book.
I didn’t think the first book could be beat. But, these books just keep getting better and better. The author really has an imagination. Going for book three.
Wow. What a great book 2. It starts out 3 months after book 1 ended and I had to keep reading until I finished it. Alex keeps hoping that her sister Jane is not really crazy but it does not look good. We get to learn some more of Jane's plans for the future. At least Alex is not fighting for her life every minute out in the wild and tries to fit in but Alex finds it hard to figure out who of her "friends" are. I love the twists and surprises. Cannot wait for book 3.
This book was as good as the first. Great storyline and a fantastic author telling it. Don't hold your breath, you are going to need it, The Author takes you on a wild ride.
Following on 6 months from the ending of book one, Alex is still fighting off the eaters. It's not an easy life, but she's relatively safe, has regular food, and a roof over her head. She's also in a relationship with Cole (I totally ship her with Wyatt), and is wary who she trusts.
Let's be honest, I don't blame her. after a few revelations at the end of book 1, I'd say her choices are justified.
The pace is just as fast the first, but it's all set at the same time. No jumping between Alex's present day and the lead up to it. I kind of missed that, but her back story has been told and all that's left is her journey forward.
We meet a few new characters in book two who really add to the story and help Alex on her fight against the eaters and in her quest to find out the truth. We also meet up with some old characters who I both liked and disliked. Although this book has a much larger cast, it never feels overcrowded and each character is pivotal to certain parts of the story. Lawson manages to individualise each and every one of them.
I loved book one so the bar was set high for this book and Ms. Lawson did it again. I loved it as much as book 1. I really like Cole but I am still a Wyatt fan. I am still holding out for him to win her heart but both guys are good guys. As for Paul, I am still not sure whether I like him or not. I miss Chloe because let's face it, she isn't Chloe any more. I wasn't surprised about Alex's sister. I am anxious to know what happens next. I am fast becoming a fan of this author.
This picks up 3 months after book 1 ends. Action packed and I couldn't put it down. I love the world that Angel Lawson has created and all of the details in this series. So much is going on and I don't want to spoil things for anyone. Alex, Wyatt, Cole and his sister are all still together for now. I mean it is the end of the world. Alex finds someone she thought she would never see again. There is a vaccine but there is also something else going on and Alex wants to figure out what.
Can't wait to read book 3! Personally I am hoping that Alex ends up with Wyatt. Cole is sweet, but I am not sure they belong together.
