Deception in Emeralds by Laura Landon is an absolutely must read Regency romance! Book 4 in "Ransomed Jewels", but can be read as a stand alone.
Danger, intrigue, revenge, secrets, and love brings these two strong, and brave characters together. Barnaby Linscott, works for the Crown and is trying to capture a traitor. Lady Millicant Chandler, has lost everything, her parents, her brother, her sister and her beloved ancestral home, due to arson. Fire destroyed all she loved. And she will sacifice everything for revenge. Noth Barnaby and Millicant think they know who is responsible and he may be a traitor, all may not be as it appears.
"Deception of Emeralds" offers readers so much, as well as, deception, passion, friendship, spies, treason, and heart-pounding adventure. A near death experience, brings this exciting story to a dramatic ending. Captured my heart from the first page and continued throughout this journey of thrilling danger with twists and turns and a few surprises. An absolute delight for fans of spies, treason, danger, intrigue and finding healing, peace, love and HEA. Whew, I loved this fast paced, danger filled Regency read! Ms. Landon brought this mesmerizing story to a terrifying and amazing ending. Well done, indeed, Laura Landon!! Highly recommended!

Darn, I have to say Lady Laura Landon and you do deserve such title, you wrenched every emotion out of me with that last chapter, hats off to you, now where do I begin, first off, this story started with an exciting and thrilling run. It was well orchestrated and absolutely well written, I personally didn’t find the emeralds played a big role but the characters were awesome, Barnaby, Radburn, and Millicent, the key players and all the others, well done. Although the romance part was great the snippets of action, mystery, betrayal tinged with a little jealousy made this book into the masterful work of art it is.

Deception in Emeralds: Ransomed Jewels is by Laura Landon. This is an adventure, a mystery, and a romance all combined in one novel. It is delightful to read and doesn’t take too long. It is the fourth book in the series and I definitely should have read the others first. However, it can be read alone although I think it makes more sense if read in order. The book is well written and the characterization and plot are well thought out and realistic.
Barnaby Linscott works for the British government and is on a mission instead of being in the townhouse of his brother- Alexander Linscott, marquess of Halverston. He has only a vague idea of his mission and has no idea who he will be working with. He is on his way to a safe house when he is shot. He makes it to the house and then is asleep for three days. He is cared for by Sophie and Lady Millicent. Luckily, he is where he is supposed to be. Will Griffin, Sophie’s husband, explains his mission. He is to locate a hidden ammunition supply and destroy it. He is also to capture, if possible, the person who has hidden it. If the person is killed, that is OK as he is a traitor to England. What Barnaby doesn’t like is the inclusion of Lady Millicent in the action.
Why is Lady Millicent involved in this action? Something is going on that Barnaby doesn’t know about and he is determined to find out what it is. Meanwhile, he intends to enjoy her company.

The fourth book in this serious and one of Laura Landons best mysteries yet. Millicent teams up with a Government agent to bring down the man that set her families house on fire killing her entire family. She is so devastated by her lost that the dangers associated with this assignment mean nothing, she just wants this evil man captured or killed. That is until she starts having feelings for the undercover agent Barnaby. There are a lot of exciting twists and turns in this book that will keep you up long past bedtime....A Good Read!

A n adult beverage required
Fairy tales are about good overcoming evil, right? If that is the criteria, this Laura Landon book is an adult fairy tale. Be warned, this tale comes with so many twists and turns it's best to arm yourself with an adult beverage. It is extremely difficult to put this book down. can we have some more stories in this series. Kept me hooked. Love the storylines and the families intermingled. Also the love, secrecy, spying and the murder all twisted into a brilliant plot. Recommend highly.

A great story with twists and turns
This my first book by this author. I enjoyed her development of her characters. Her story line kept you entertained and the twists in the plot kept you interest piqued.
I was just disappointed I started with the 4th book.

Excellent plot is there a book for Thomas's story
I enjoy reading a series. The characters were great and believable. I actually got mad at Isobel when she would let Alex see his son.

Jewel of a romance!
Exciting read, characters were delightful. Unexpected twist and turns not counting the caves, and hidden rooms. I not certain that I would have finished the book the way the author did concerning Marcus' mother.

Great read
Another great book by Laura Landon. Have always enjoyed her stories.
I would recommend this and all her other books to anyone who hasn't read her yet.
This story had unexpected twists ,edge of your seat actions, and heart wrenching moments. A great book.
Hopefully Thomas has his story next.
