Waking on the edge of the lake, out beyond the perimeter wall, Brie has to think fast.
She’s lost, alone, and surrounded by toxic mist. And soon enough, she’ll have other threats to contend with too.
Needing to get back to the city fast, she sets her sights on the High Tower, the beacon that calls her home. And eventually, it’s right to the summit that she needs to go.
But first, she’s got other business to attend to, business that will take her from the core of Inner Haven to the northern reaches of the underlands.
And as a new enemy is revealed, Brie realises that her already impossible mission has just got that little bit harder.
And the clock is starting to tick faster…
Note: This book ends on a cliffhanger
Books in the Enhanced Series:
The Enhanced (Book One) Hyprid (Book Two) Nameless (Book Three) Assassin (Book Four - Coming soon)
This is quickly becoming one of my very favorite dystopian series. I loved the first two books, but I'd have to say that this one is even better. I was on the edge of my seat more than once when Brie was putting herself in harm's way and worrying that her secrets would all come to light. Mr. Edge has an awesome writing style that draws the reader in and won't let go. I can't wait to read the next book int this fantastic series.
The best so far. I adore Adryan. I absolutely adore him. Still don't trust Orlando or Zander...just feel offput by them. I don't know. The grammatical errors in the book take away from the story a bit.
This series has a good story, and I liked the characters. My only issue, and this continued through all 10 books, is the repetitiveness of all the statements. I can only read "I hate him" (in different words or the same, doesn't matter) so many times before I am sick of hearing it. So, in the later books, I found that I could spot another paragraph that would summarize the same feelings again and I was skipping paragraphs because it was just text with nothing actually happening. The character's inner dialogue was not that important in the story... which brings me to think that this might be nit-picky and maybe this was just a younger reading level (a teen might need these things spelled out for them). However, I would not want my young child reading about the wars, because of the (very well done) descriptions of blood and gore. So, good reads, they drew me in and kept me reading, but I could have used less repetition over the known info and known feelings.
I have the omnibus edition of this series so will just say that book three sees Brie further involved with her mission, getting to grips with her powers and determined to right the wrongs of the system.
It has a great writing style though it needs some corrections in grammar particularly. I do like the mix of action, thoughts and feelings, and there are some brilliant descriptions that give a wonderful sense of place.
Good character development and an intriguing plot.
I think the trope is really interesting. I would love to know what happens, but I feel like the story is too stretched out over too many books. I got to like the 4th book I’m the series until I got tired of the stringing me along. I really like the characters and all that, but after the first two books it seems like nothing is really happening, cliffhangers and all that jazz. I still want to know what happens; might continue later on.
A good book with clear plot development and good characters. The exploration of prejudice and overcoming it is intresting. As well as the basic politics which affect all the characters in various ways. A good book examining what it is to be human and what may be lost in our endless pursuit for perfection.
The story changes and gives a good view of all the sections of the city and the environment. At one point the story was so on edge...the tension...where is this is story leading you too...will she be found out. It is a very nerve wrecking story and I had to read until the end of how the story will end. You won't be disappointing with all this plot twists.
I really liked this book because of the different twists and turns, I did notice many grammar and spelling errors though. I feel this book and the series as a whole are all really slow. Otherwise, I would have reviewed as a 5 star. I enjoy the world that has been created and want to commend the author for his (I think it’s a guy 🤔) imagination.
I love this series. There are moments where I get frustrated or suspicious. The author makes readers feel the story, live the story. The detail when describing visual scenes makes you feel that you can see it yourself. I don't trust the Nameless, or her brother - they just seem very emotionless Savant.
And still, the grammatical errors - it's dessert (sweet, after dinner treat), not desert ( dry, barren land), and she was "hopping" on and off the conveyor, not hoping.... those are just a few. But again, just pay attention and the story is really good.
I just like dystopian fiction and this one fits the bill. Nice, easy read with decent characters. I like the setting and the sense of control throughout the book. Yea, there are holes yet they're not too distracting.
The story continues with SME fairy hairy situations. But Brie's character is growing as is Adryan's, and Zander's. We fall more in live with each character as the danger mounts.
Just finished the third book pressures and I can honestly say they maelstrom g better. The characters are interesting and engaging g, the story wallpaper and exciting. I a.m. Looking forward tightened book!
3.5 stars. Not bad, just not as engaging as the first novel in the series. Good book to read at work in between customers. I'll continue to read this author in the future.
The story continues, this is a nice easy to read entertaining story. I like the concise size of the books and as there are 10 in the series, it does not seem like a daunting task to complete the saga.
The book was pretty good. While the concept i still find exciting the book felt a little rushed. I still plan on reading the next book in series to see what happens.
This is a fantastic series. The world building and character building was awesome. This would make a wonderful movie or tv series!! I can't wait to delve into the other books by this Author.
I am glad I had the trilogy to read it was great to not have to wait to get to this point in the story. The author has done a fine job with the characters in the story I could hardly wait for the time to read more. They now are in the back of my mind waiting to continue their lives. The story is advertised as YA story and I am far from that in age but it held together well in my opinion. The main character has had to overcome her lack of knowledge of her hidden ability and find how to put them to use. She has to work her way through skills, obstacles and foes to reach her goals. In book three she has reached an important step in her goal disputed the many roadblocks encountered. The story has lead the reader to a good point in the total tale to take a break and allow the readers mind to think through the past adventures and attempt "read ahead" of the authors story and guess what is in store for the the characters that were brought to life so far. I have enjoyed all three books and can't wait to begin the next book.
Oh I wrote the review in the title block. I don'n know how one can copy the title block and transfer it to the proper location.
Another great read in the series! Just as good as the first two! This third installment is not as fast-paced as the previous two as it focuses more on Brie learning to use her new found abilities. The characterizations continue to be strong and there are some plot twist that keep the reader fully engaged until the end. I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Brie is a strong sometimes reckless person driven by her emotions in a world that lacks imagination or colour. Gifted as she is her mission is dangerous and seemingly impossible. The relationship between Brie and her savant boyfriend is interesting as they both discover why they are fighting the system. Will Brie be able to survive in Inner Haven without going crazy, away from her friends and home. I am certainly going to find out and I want to see if those fledgling feelings they have for each other will blossom in time. Brie's time is quickly running out yet I do hope she will succeed as Inner Haven needs a dose of reality and Brie is just the right person to give it to them
