Catherine (Cathy) Hapka has written more than one hundred books for children and adults, as a ghostwriter for series as well as original titles, including the Romantic Comedies Something Borrowed, The Twelve Date of Christmas, and Love on Cue. She lives in Pennsylvania.
I honestly did not think I was going to like this one. It’s predecessor wasn’t very believable toward the end, and therefore, not very good. This one nearly used a recycled school story line; the one where someone may be moving away. Despite that, the author also gave this a bit of a new spin, so it doesn’t lose a star for that.
There’s a spirit dance coming up; Sadie Hawkins dance, where the girl asks the guy. I don’t have the desire to scream ‘homophobia’. If you’re not straight, consider it a ‘take a friend of the opposite sex’ dance. Anyway, Gabriella wants to ask Troy, but gets this advice from Sharpay to take it slow with the asking as a way to get him eating out of her hand.
Troy on the other hand really wants her to ask him and is surprised when she doesn’t. Chad gets asked by this new Taylor girl that I don’t remember from the movies, and when he doesn’t answer with any kind of affirmative, it starts a little argument between the two of them.
Meanwhile, Sharpay is pulling Ryan along on a string for every special day of the week: pajama day, twin day, hat day (I don’t think there were more than three before the dance).
When you're having a difficult time, what do you do? You read something cosy, comforting, and nostalgic. So, that's what I've done today. I have a very strong memory attached to this book. One that may seem inconsequential but, looking back... not really. It's nothing major, just sitting in the car, reading this book, on the way to Pizza Hut with my family. So much has changed since then. That Pizza Hut's no longer there, and one of us is no longer here, on this earth. I take comfort in imagining her in the arms of our Father, safe and happy. So, this memory is bittersweet. It's innocent and candid, seemingly insignificant, a mere moment of happiness, a moment that can never be recaptured. Reading this book took me back to that place in time, and I think I sorely needed it. The world can get heavy and our minds aren't always the nicest places to be, so, sometimes, reading something a little more childish or sentimental can help. I enjoyed reuniting with these characters, both in the book and in my memory. It was easy on my mind and, unlike so many books that are being pedalled out to young readers nowadays, it was clean, simple, and entertaining. If you need something refreshing, something easier for your mind, something that takes you back to happier, simpler times, I recommend this book. You're never too old for a childhood book.

I wasn't a huge fan of Battle of the Bands (High School Musical: Stories from East High, #1), so it's fair to say my expectations for Wildcat Spirit (why the title on here doesn't follow the same conventions as for the first I do not know) were low. This book was easily worse than the first. Music takes a huge backseat and instead we have our characters all trying to show their school spirit, whilst Gabriella does the typical Gabriella thing and mopes around. It's a frustrating read because these characters seemingly never make smart decisions (despite the films making a rather big deal about Gabriella being a brainiac). Again, I'm not the target audience, but the films are so good and these books so far have been so bad.
This book is a funny and exciting book. It's spirit week at East High, and everyone is psyched.there will be dress-up days,a pep rally, and finally, the crowning of the spirit king and queen. But the best part of all is the sadie hawkins dance:the girls get to ask the boys!Troy is fending off invitations left and right, and wondering why Gabriella haven't asked him yet. He'll have to be patient ,though; Gabriella has alot on her mind. She overheard something her mother said on the phone, and is too devasted to even think about the dance.Could it be they're moving again?Gabriella is so happy at East High.Would her mother really take her away from all her friends?I loved it. READ TO FIND OUT THE ENDING.
It is all about spirit before "the" dance at East High as the wildcats prepare for spirit(including Ryan and Sharpay). Also Sharpay is still lying in this series to get troy to her side and will Gabriella leave East High to New York?I learned that it will not pay to be keeping everything to yourself.
This book is about SPIRIT WEEK and what the East HIGH students did during the week,it is very FUNNY for what they did. Read the book to find out what happens during the week!
This was a great book! You need to read the first book first. I read this book during my volleyball games, and it help my show my team spirit! Great Book!
