Eagle Harbor #4

Love's Eternal Breath

Rate this book
The bestselling Eagle Harbor Series continues with Book 4, Love’s Eternal Breath.

Lindy Marsden once dreamed of having a husband, a house, some children, and maybe even a sewing machine. But since she grew ill five years ago, those dreams have become too much to hope for. Now she just wants to provide for herself and help the abandoned children she found living in the woods until their father returns… and avoid doctors for the rest of her life. Their medicine never leads to any good, and she has the scars to prove it.

Seth Harrington loves being a doctor, but treating patients in the small town of Eagle Harbor is nothing like working at a prestigious Boston hospital, especially with the other doctor in town trying to steal Seth's patients. When he's called to treat a reluctant woman, Seth finds Lindy Marsden's fiery dislike for him rather insulting. He has the ability to help her, but she wants nothing to do with him. Until she shows up on his doorstep one night...

When the plight of a young abandoned boy brings Seth and Lindy irrevocably together, Seth finds himself in the most difficult situation of his career. His expertise can help him heal the sick, but will his love be enough to soothe Lindy's wounded soul?

Come visit the rugged yet beautiful coast of Lake Superior and the remote historical town of Eagle Harbor that readers can’t get enough of.

Naomi Rawlings is the author of historical Christian novels, including the Amazon bestselling Eagle Harbor Series. While she'd love to claim she spends her days huddled in front of her computer vigorously typing, in reality, she spends her time homeschooling, cleaning, picking up, and pretending like her house isn't in a constant state of chaos. She lives with her husband and three children in Michigan's rugged Upper Peninsula, along the southern shore of Lake Superior where they get 200 inches of snow every year, and where people still grow their own vegetables and cut down their own firewood--just like in the historical novels she writes.

Love's Eternal Breath is a wonderful marriage of convenience story full of heart and themes of compassion, mortality, and faith. Lindy had been a minor character in the previous books, so I loved learning her full story, even though it's heartbreaking. She seems to have lost all hope in her dreams, yet is using whatever energy she has to earn money to help feed an impoverished family hiding deep in the woods. Seth shares her characteristic of being selfless in the service of others with his passion for doctoring. I loved his earnestness even though he has had some experiences in his past that jaded him. When the reasons for Lindy's phobia of doctors comes to light, Seth does all in his power to earn her trust and eventually her love. There are some difficult obstacles, including internal ones, but the strength of Lindy and Seth shines as they turn to God and each other for support. I loved the setting and could really get a feeling for the era and the harsh conditions, as well as the beauty of the wilderness. Highly recommend this book and the entire Eagle Harbor series!

I have been reading the Eagle Harbor Series novels from the beginning. The stories are deep, thinking romances with characters that are relatable and encouraging; the small town setting enables the reader to settle in and get to know both the town and its inhabitants from book to book, but each has a different focus.

This particular novel is Seth’s story, and because of his profession, there is a wealth of historical detail pertaining to medicine and treatment of sick individuals. Tuberculosis, asthma, ambitious splints for broken bones, prenatal care, quarantines, tracheotomies, and even quackery make their appearance within these pages. It makes me thankful that medicine has made such strides since then and appreciative of the doctors through the years who have helped to advance it.

Lindy is a terrified young woman who I didn’t even realize I related to until the latter chapters of the book. At first she seems to be skittish, then resigned, but as time went on, I could see she was petrified to truly live life because she was scared of pain and loss. It’s strange how reading about a fictional character’s journey can speak into my own life and give me clarity about situations I am facing; that is exactly what my experience was, however, and I feel refreshed and energized with a reaffirmed knowledge that God is good and He has a plan for my life.

The romance between Seth and Lindy is a beautiful one to watch develop. The inevitable hard times threaten to tear them from each other, misunderstandings get in the way, but the dance between the two is sweet and endearing as the novel progresses. Unconditional love is demonstrated through prayer, patience and doing the hard things to see that the loved one’s needs are met, even when it isn’t convenient for the other.

Throughout the entire story is a theme of trusting God with both the big and small details of our life. Suffering is also prevalent, but I loved how the author turned it into something that can give glory to God, even in the most difficult of circumstances. It doesn’t take pain away, but it does give it a purpose and encourages those who may be facing hardship.

The best word I can think of to describe this novel is real. The pain, the hesitations, the desire to protect those we love from suffering even as we acknowledge God is the only one who completely holds life and death in His hands. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy historical romance, who have an interest in historical medicine, or even someone going through a difficult time, if they are wondering how God could possibly use their own situation. This isn’t an easy read by any stretch, but it is a beautiful tribute to living life to the full as long as God gives us breath.

I received a free copy of this book from the author but no compensation for this review. I was not required to write a favorable one and the opinions expressed are both honest and my own.

When I was first introduced to Seth Harrington in previous books, I was excited to read his story. Talk about being unlucky in love! I was eagerly anticipating his love match. Funny enough, I didn't imagine it would have been Lindy. It was brilliant of Naomi to pair these two together and that's one of the reasons I love her writing. She has a way of crafting such real stories and making you fall in love with characters and rooting for them wholeheartedly.

I often found myself with constricted airways whether from being empathetic to Lindy or the chemistry between Seth and Lindy. Pure and sweet love.

Characters from previous books make healthy appearances, which I always love, minus Rebekah and Gilbert (my fave Eagle Harbor couple), but I digress. I was still plenty happy revisiting old friends and looking forward to the next book in the series.

*My Thoughts*

Ever since I joined Naomi Rawling's influencer team, I've looked forward to a book I know I won't be able to put down. Her writing style and story telling abilities are so captivating, I often re-read the story the moment I finish it.

A big part of her storytelling magic is her ability to create a relatable character. Lindy's fear of doctors is so palpable I found myself shaking right along with her as she tried to overcome her struggles. Naomi does a marvelous job of slowly unraveling the story to keep the reader engaged. I found myself feeling Seth's frustration and pumping my fist at each victory.

All in all, Love's Eternal Breath is without a doubt in this year's top ten and is most definitely one of the best marriage of convenience stories I have ever read.

Love's Eternal Breath, written by Naomi Rawlings, is the fourth book in the Eagle Harbor Series.
What a wonderful addition to the Eagle Harbor series! I just loved it...Rawlings brought us the story of Lindy. We start the story out in 1883 with Lindy having been diagnosed with a disease that would ultimately cause her death sooner than later. I just loved that she had a "One Day" list where she had some wonderful things on it...much like a bucket list of today. Unfortunately, she decided to give up on that list and because of her diagnosis. This lovely story takes us through her life as she knew it, struggling for every breath when in comes Dr. Seth Harrington who takes her breath away! Lindy has so many struggles and seems to focus on why why why she has to struggle with so many difficult things in life. I loved the way that Love's Eternal Breath brought into focus how much the struggles of our lives are not so much about us but bringing glory to God. A wonderful love story of what Christ means to us through the examples of the lives of the characters of Seth and Lindy in this book.
If you love historical Christian romances, you'll love this book. I was given this book by the author. all thoughts and comments are my own.

The Eagle Harbor series is one of my very favorites! Love’s Eternal Breath is another wonderful addition to this series. Once again, the author made me feel as if I was back in time. I was completely immersed in this story which is set in a small, rugged town on the coast of Lake Superior.

The author did a superb job of communicating the fear that Lindy felt toward doctors. I felt so sorry for her and all that she suffered through earlier in her life. The frustration that Dr. Seth Harrington felt as he tried to help Lindy, and others in the community, was palpable. It was hard to watch as people were willing to believe gossip and misinformation, even when it was detrimental to their survival!

The romance was beautiful and the characters had such great romantic tension in their scenes. Love’s Eternal Breath was one of those stories that I had trouble setting down. I am extremely happy that there are future books planned for this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Ahhh it was so nice to be back in Eagle Harbor!! I took a break from the series and picked back up on book 4. I was sucked right back into this town and I remember why I love this series! Seth is the absolute sweetest and I loved seeing both him and Lindy find love. The story had a lot of layers and I never got bored!

TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL THINE HEART

The fourth book in the Eagle Harbor series will come with so many emotions, including fear, heartache, loss, and new beginnings. Not everyone has faith in doctors, and the medical profession and not every doctor practices medicine the same way. For Lindy Marsden, her dealings with doctors have her fearing them and rightly so, but Dr. Seth Harrington is different, more forward thinking and stays up-to-date on procedures, cleanliness, and sterilization. The story’s message is as relevant today as it was in the eighteen hundred about God’s love, His word, and His desires for His children.

The town of Eagle Harbor has two doctors, but both with different views and methods. Dr. Greeley is archaic in his beliefs and Dr. Harrington, being younger, more recent to medical school, takes his Hippocratic Oath of ‘do no harm,’ seriously. He has proven he can set a compound fracture and save a limb where Greeley would rather amputate. There will be several incidences that will have these two butting heads.

For Lindy, she has watched her mother’s illness with her lungs and diagnosis of tuberculosis until she died, then Lindy’s own lung problems came with doctors who would bleed her until they nearly killed her. Her hopes in life were to be a teacher, have a husband who loved her, and has children, but she doesn’t believe that will ever happen, she has decided she is dying. But until that happens, she helps a young family of children that are hidden in a shack in the woods.

The plot will have an accident bring Dr. Harrington to help Lindy when she breaks a bone and then working to help her with her asthma. When she brings a young child with a high fever and seizures to him, they will be found together at his office late at night, but their reputations will have been harmed. “Maybe God wants you to heal both her soul and her body.” Marriage should clear up the nasty rumors, but his practice is still suffering. “We both know you did nothing wrong, and we both know God could have stopped this rumor from spreading, or from even starting in the first place, but He didn’t. Maybe He’s trying to teach you to have patience, or to have joy when things aren’t going your way.”

The town of Eagle Harbor will face several life and death situations, and not everyone can be saved, but Dr. Harrington will save more lives than will be lost. God will work in the hearts of several people during their darkest hours. “I suppose, if nothing else, all the suffering on earth gives us reason to hope for heaven. No suffering there, no pain or sorrow. We just have to endure the earth part first.” “We’re trusting God for our future. There was a reason he put us together.”

Medical historical fiction

With having several siblings with asthma, the treatment and ignorance surrounding the disease was fascinating along with following the budding romance in the story. I enjoyed it.

Lindy Marsden is convinced her days are numbered. She has the same breathing ailment that killed her mother so making plans for any kind of future is not something she will even consider. Her fear of doctors is almost legendary. Even the thought of being in the same room with a doctor is enough to send her into a panic attack. She figures if she’s going to die anyway, why does she need a doctor to experiment on her causing even more pain than she’s already enduring?

The handwork she does for the local seamstress pays the few bills she has with just enough left over to help the four orphaned children she found living in a shack in the woods. When she breaks her pinky finger, her frantic terror of either of the local doctors nearly undoes her. Her panic-induced asthma attack causes her to black out and she awakens in Dr. Seth Harrington’s sick room with her finger in a splint. How can she convince these people that she’s fine – she doesn’t need a doctor, in spite of her badly broken finger?

Seth Harrington is the new doctor in town and the more he sees and hears about the old doctor, Doc Greely, the more convinced he is that Eagle Harbor, MI needs him. Doc Greely is more quack than physician so when Seth arrives on the scene of Lindy’s finger-breaking fall to hear Doc Greely insist that her finger must be amputated, Seth steps in to say he can set the break. Seeing Lindy’s fear, he assumes it stems from Doc Greely’s pronouncement. When he sees some of her scars, he realizes that some doctor somewhere terrorized Lindy over a long period of time. Can he win her trust if he can’t even get her to talk to him?

When Lindy is forced to ask Seth for help for one of the orphans and her reputation is compromised, can she get over her fear to see the man God is placing in her life? Will she let Seth help her by using his gifts as a physician to improve her breathing? Can she look to the future when she has been convinced for so long that she had none?

Until Love’s Eternal Breath, I think I’d only read one other book by Naomi Rawlings – a Love Inspired Historical. This book captured my imagination from the first page and I fell in love with the quirks and foibles of her characters. Seth followed his dream and became a doctor in spite of being dumped by three fiancées because of it and in spite of his family’s desire for him to enter the family business. Lindy presses on and keeps doing the next thing even though she fully expects to die any day. Victoria takes care of everyone in town, following up on doctor’s visits to make sure families are cared for even though her stutter makes her feel inadequate. So many others are introduced and given life that I felt like I could step out of the pages and into the town. I also loved that the book is set in Michigan’s UP, a place my husband and I fell in love with last summer. Maybe we’ll have to go look up Eagle Harbor on our next foray into the wilds of the UP (since Naomi points out in her notes that it’s a real place not one she made up!) I absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys historic fiction. I had a hard time putting it down so I could go to sleep at night and I felt like I learned quite a lot about medical practices “way back when.” Loved this!!

When you were a young girl, did you ever make a list of your dreams for the future? Lindy Marsden has a very specific one; get married, have a house, children, and buy a sewing machine. That may look a bit different than what your list had, and Lindy figures she'll never have these things due to the illness she thinks will take her life. The same illness that took her mother will surely take her too! And how does one trust a doctor when so many have done terrible things in the name of “medicine”? None of their methods over the years have made a shred of difference, just drained their pocketbook! So when the newer doctor—Seth Harrington—enters the picture, she wants nothing to do with him, and rightly so! Sparks fly, tempers rise & trust is not easily built between these two....what will it take for them to see eye to eye?

I really enjoyed getting to know Seth! I got a glimpse of him from the last book when he first moved to town to set up his practice. He brings with him new ideas and methods of doctoring. You can see he really cares about the people of Eagle Harbor, his compassionate nature & gentle bedside manner soon win the townspeople over. He also has a hard time convincing Lindy that she won't die from her lung illness due to her mistrust of all doctors! It's going to take a miracle for these two to ever see eye to eye & that's where God can work it all out! I really enjoyed this story and revisiting the town of Eagle Harbor. There were many twists and turns that kept my interest throughout the book. I especially enjoyed seeing Seth's faith keep him grounded & able to minister to Lindy. Seeing her finally trust the Father for her life was the highlight for me! I also loved seeing the romance develop between these two in spite of all the heartache they've went through. What a wonderful addition to the series & I certainly can't wait for the next installment. This author knows how to hold her readers captive page by page!

Love's Eternal Breath, the fourth book in the Eagle Harbor Series is as well done as the other three books in the series! I enjoyed following up on the other characters from the other books. This book was solely about Lindy and Dr. Seth Harrington.

Lindy has a lung ailment in which she feels like she is going to die...soon. So she has a "One Day" list. Don't we all have a list? One day, I want this, one day I want to do this? Just like Lindy, she has hopes and dreams. Because of bad medical advice from doctors that were probably not doctors, she has a fear of them. Then walks in Dr. Seth who literally takes her breath away but she pushes away in chances of a relationship with him. But they don't have a choice - they either have to marry or lose everything they hold dear.

This story was a gem! It held so many lessons in which I held dearly. I especially loved the fact that in all things, no matter what happens in our lives, whether we are suffering from cancer, chronic illness, pain, finances, broken relationships, or whatever we are facing in this life - we need to Glorify God! This story is one that will long be in my heart and I remember how Lindy suffers with an illness that was so easily manageable by the right doctor - and how we too can go to Jesus with all of our cares and sufferings because He is our Physician.

In the Eagle Harbor Series, families from previous novels are interwoven throughout each new novel. These books become a story of life connections in the small town of Eagle Harbor. Lindy Marsden is a featured character in this story. Very well described, Lindy is compassionate and shares her love and life with a family of four abandoned children. Her health restricts her, but the author portrays her situation with sensitivity and sincerity in spite of her affliction.

Seth Harrington is the new doctor in town, and struggles with his practice as the old doc in Eagle Harbor has taken care of the town's residents for years. Seth is having a hard time making his way. The author has done a wonderful job of creating a very dedicated young man whose main focus in life is doctoring. As friends mingle through one anothers' lives, Seth's skills become a necessity, and particularly to Lindy as she struggles to breathe. She's convinced she is dying. Seth does his best to convince her otherwise but her past fears of doctors make treating her nearly impossible until he earns her trust.

I have enjoyed every novel in this series, and Love's Eternal Breath is as well written as its prequels. I love that the author has brought so many familiar characters together. After reading the entire series to date, I feel as much a part of the series as the residents of Eagle Harbor. Being a Michigan native contributes to a warm and welcome feeling, as I've been there, and can relate to the life and surroundings of the area. I'm excited to read the next book from Naomi Rawlings. I find myself wrapped up in life in the northern upper peninsula of Michigan, along the shores of Lake Superior.

Love’s Eternal Breath : Historical Christian Romance ( Eagle Harbor-Book 4 )
By: Naomi Rawlings
Love’s Eternal Breath is the fourth book in Eagle Harbor series by Naomi Rawlings. Wow , What an addition to the Eagle Harbor series. I absolutely loved this story, and the characters were likable and so real. Love’s Eternal Breath is one of those books that when you start reading it you do not want to put it down till the end and then you want more. Rawlings weaves us a good clean historical romance that will leave you breathless. There was several times that I had tears in my eyes and could not read fast enough to see what was going to happen next. Lindy a young lady who has watched her mother suffer and die ,and she has a health problem herself. She is afraid of doctors and does not want one touching her. Dr. Seth Harrington left his practice in a large city to come to Eagle Harbor where he could help the people. Lindy has always dreamed of having a home , family , children, and a sewing machine. This is her bucket list. Lindy sews for a friend and it helps her out ,and also she can help some abandon children she has found. Seth and Lindy comes together through a medical problem , but will she let him touch her? What will Seth do if he can not examine her? Can he help her?
I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I loved this addition to the Eagle Harbor Series! The story of Lindy Marsden, selfless, kind hearted, giving and caring for others despite her poor health. And Dr. Seth Harrington, the newer doctor in town, treats patients with much more care, concern and modern techniques than old Doc Greely. Seth still wishes he could provide better care for the residents of small town Eagle Harbor.
I won't repeat the synopsis of the book. I will say, I felt as if Lindy was a friend I desperately wanted to help, to tell her she would be alright and her "one-day" list can come true. She just needs to trust Seth and God. I was so proud of Dr. Harrington for standing up for Lindy the way he did, despite what the town gossips misunderstood and spread around. I was proud of him when he stood up to Doc Greely when attending a high-risk birth. There are so many twists and turns, disasters and even death in this book. But it is the sweetness of a chance at love and watching that love grow that really touched my heart. The strength of friendship, family, and faith are strong elements in the book as well.
Naomi Rawlings certainly has a gift for storytelling. I loved visiting Eagle Harbor again and look forward to visiting the town and the lakeshore again soon.
I will say that if you have not read the previous books in the series, don't let that deter you from reading this one but you will want to read the others.

Lindy Marsden is a young woman. She's got her whole life ahead of her, except that she's sick with the same disease that killed her mom.
Her dreams are like all other women...
One day, I'll be a teacher like my mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.
One day, I'll have a husband to love me.
One day, I'll have children.

But she doesn't hold hope that those will come true. She's resigned herself that she'll have to settle in watching other people fall in love, have children and watch their children grow.

Seth Harrington is the new, young, dashingly handsome doctor. I absolutely loved Seth... he was so sweet!

Seems like a good match, except Lindy absolutely hates dr's. She doesn't trust them after years and years of watching dr after dr try and treat her and her mom.

This is Naomi's 4th book in her Eagle Harbor series. I loved that she had her previous couples in the book, you got to keep up with them and see where life has taken them, but also left it where it was Lindy and Seth's story completely. She did a beautiful job in writing and portraying Lindy's fears and struggles.

I highly recommend this book! BUT, you do need to read the previous ones first in my opinion... if not you'll be pretty spoiled. :)

I've read all the Eagle Harbor series books and enjoyed each one. This one will hold a special place in my mind. The characters Lindy and Seth and the way they interacted with one another from the beginning. The medical community and how patients ents were treated and advancements made from then to now is something to rejoice over. Learning more of the history of the medical field and what patients and doctors went through is mind boggling. Lindy has been through so much due to mis-diagnosis. Seth has been through a lot because of his choice to become a doctor and not what others chose for him. Their lives collide with the care abandoned children and God's divine intervention. I love the way the author included the main character, Lindy, to have a chronic illness. Not many books have that included in their books. And Seth as her doctor and her husband must learn to cope with it in a God-honoring way. Just a beautiful story, even though it is filled with much sadness and reality of the times. Many familiar characters are revisited in Eagle Harbor.

Love's Eternal Breath was a wonderful story about people's misconceptions about health and one woman's struggle with her health throughout the story. During the time period, the way people thought about health issues or marriage or life in general is different than the way we would go about it now. You invest yourself with the characters in previous books and you are rooting for them. You get mad when they make foolish choices and you get happy when they make good choices. I love this author and she is always putting twists and turns in her books. I also like that she mentions God and when the characters seem to give their situations to God, it is much better for them. I would highly recommend this book. I received a free copy and I voluntarily chose to review it. It is my honest and fair opinion.

I have read some of the other books in the Eagle Harbor series by Naomi Rawlings, but this is my favorite so far. Set against the backdrop of the Lake Superior in the town of Eagle Harbor, this story came alive and captured my interest from the first page. The carefully crafted characters are so engaging and realistic that I could see them in my mind. The premise of the story is original and captivating, and it's obvious that the author has done much research on the setting, history, and time period. The story kept my interest and played on my emotions to the end. The message of faith and hope was woven seamlessly into the story action. Although this book is part of a series, it can also be read as a stand alone. I would recommend this story to those who enjoy Christian historical fiction.

Love's Eternal Breath is the fourth book in the Eagle Harbor series by Naomi Rawlings. I enjoyed the story and reading about the main characters, as well as the other citizens of the town. I loved that the book was dedicated to her readers, especially those who are sick and suffering. Lindy seemed a very strong and determined young woman, despite her poor health and suffering for many years at the hands of quacks who cared for her in the name of medicine. As you can imagine, she has a great fear of doctors. Seth is a very caring and intelligent doctor who believes he can help Lindy. If only she would allow him to treat her! Add into this mix a family of orphans that Lindy has come to care for and a compromising situation and you are set for a great story!

Because Lindy has been badly mistreated by doctors, she refuses to have anything to do with them, regardless of the fact that her health is bad and she believes she is dying. Seth is a great doctor who wants to help anyone who is ill. Even Lindy. But can he reach her and help to heal her inner hurts, as well as her physical illness?
Author Naomi Rawlings skillfully crafts a story that you not only can’t put down, but causes you to want to turn to the last page to see how it ends! Every time I thought the story was resolving we went on another roller coaster ride of emotions. Definitely a great addition to the Eagle Harbor Series.

Love's Eternal Breath by Naomi Rawlings is a wonderful addition to the Eagle Harbor Book series! The story of Lindy and Seth was worth the wait. Caught in what looked like a compromising situation the girl who hates doctors ends up marrying one. Can there be romance? There is, and life threatening dangers too. You also get to read about our other favorite people from the previous books. Great read, love Naomi's writing style. Love's Eternal Breath is a true story of love and devotion. Lindy feels that her life is set and certain things will never be meant for her. Her compassionate heart and caring ways allow her to help others. Seth has his own direction for life. The relationship between Lindy and Seth has ups and downs. Through tragedy, sickness and more, these two people deal with life struggles separately and then, together. This story will bring tears to the reader and also, bring joy to the reader. The author tells the story with great details and descriptions. I enjoyed this story very much. I received a copy of this story from the author and this is my personal opinion.

With each Eagle Harbor story I read, I fall a little more in love with this remote coastal town. Another wonderful addition to the series, Love’s Eternal Breath is possibly my favorite yet!

Naomi Rawlings paints beautiful pictures with her words and transports readers to the rugged shoreline of Lake Superior. Seth Harrington and Lindy Marsden are complex characters brought together through unexpected circumstances. There is hurt and heartache in their journey, yet love and hope abound. I loved this touching and tender tale and eagerly await my next visit to Eagle Harbor!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. No review was required, and all thoughts expressed are my own.

Wow! another awesome book in the Eagle Harbor series. I found it difficult to put down. I was rooting for both Lindy and Seth and kept wondering if they would ever be able to love and trust each other. The characters were so well developed and who couldn't help but love the orphan children. The faith thread throughout the book was great and indeed sometimes God does allow bad things to happen in order to bring glory to God. This book resonated with me. I can't wait to read more books in this series.

I love the Eagle Harbor series and this one did not let me down. I did not want to put this down. Lindy was such a wonderful character. She was very brave even with her lung problems and what she had been through as a younger child. She learned trust in this story. I loved the romance in this story and the little bit of intrigue. Keep these books coming to us to read. I received this book from the author and I have given a fair and honest review of my own free will.

What happens when you have an overwhelming fear of Doctors? Lindy has been ill for 5 years and this story is a touching story of her helping others and a healing that happens when you open your heart and mind to true friends around you. Eagle Harbor is a place of family, friendship, faith and I can't hardly wait to see how the next couple will overcome!

This fourth book in Naomi Rawlings Eagle Harbor series created another fascinating story with charming characters joining the others in the Eagle Harbor community. I enjoyed the slow growing romance and the spiritual lessons included. None of the authors' romance stories are typical or boring which I appreciate. I couldn't stop reading this series and kept getting the next one. It's that good!

Love's Eternal Breath by Naomi Rawlings is the most delightful Christian historical romance. It is the fourth book in the Eagle Harbor series but can be read as a stand-alone. For me, it was wonderful to catch up with familiar faces who feel more like old friends than characters in a book.
The year is 1883, it is a time of innovation in medical procedures. The novel shows the clash between the old and the new practices. Practices that saves lives versus the old order. At times it is like banging ones head against a brick wall as people resist change.
Love's Eternal Breath shows how we all experience trials and sufferings. We think life as a Christian should be easy but that is not what we are promised - in this world we will have trials but Jesus walks alongside us always. Looking back, we can see God's hand on our lives. Our trials can be used to glorify God.
The novel has the theme of trust. "He needed to do a better job of trusting." We need to trust God and we need to trust others. Our lives were not meant to be lived in isolation. We need to live in community both giving and accepting help.
Gossip is dangerous. We are never to gossip. We are never to judge. We are never to jump to conclusions. We need to know the facts and resist the urge to spread rumours.
The novel is about hope. This hope is linked to heaven. "All the suffering on earth gives us reason to hope for heaven." We can have this hope because of Jesus.
Fear is another theme. We fear the unknown. Fear is the opposite of faith. If we put our faith, hope and trust in God we need not fear.
The novel is about dreams. Dreams can spur us on. We are never too old to dream.
Love permeates the novel. Love motivates us. Love for one another. We are called to love like Jesus. Love is the reason to get up in the morning. Love helps us to reach out to others. Love links to the theme of taking care of the widows and orphans. The novel shows that the characters give what they have to help others. They give out of their riches or poverty and they give of their time.
I absolutely love all the characters in this Eagle Harbor series. They are warm and welcoming. They are richly drawn and they find their way into your heart and soul.
If you have not read the Eagle Harbor series yet, why not? You are missing a real treat. I am hunting out book five now.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
