Another splendiferous offering featuring everybody's favourite Supernatural P.I., Jack Nightingale. Out of all the short stories I've read so far, this was by far the creepiest.
Jack Nightingale has to be one of my favourite characters. Even though the super natural genre is one I don't read much of I have to say I love this series and these short stories are great for quick fixes.
For a short story the author manages to cram the whole super natural element in there which had me on the edge of my seat ready to hide behind the cushions.
One of my favourite of the short stories that the author has written.
Latest addition to the Jack Nightingale collection, and takes off where the last one left off. Jack is following up some gruesome murders with satanic overtures. While the lead up to the finale is classic Nightingale, the last third just feels rushed, and the whole conclusion is a little too cliched. It's not the best Nightingale story I've read, it's not going to stop me waiting for the next novel where hopefully he'll have a little more space to tell the story
Despite it being a short story, Stephen always seems to manage to still pack in enough detail to give the desired effect. Really creepy, but very enjoyable. Brilliant, thanks Stephen!
This was okay. I completed this book in about 40 minutes.
I don't know. Not sure if I am just not a short story kind of person. I don't feel we get enough behind the story.
It was about an elderly couple, where 2 dark eyed children, showed up at their doorstep knocking on their door in the middle of a snow storm. Jack Nightingale was called in to investigate the matter and the children. When he got to town he ran into other incidences with the 2 dark eyed children.
This book is very dark and the closer it gets to the end of the story it got darker. It was not for me, BUT with that being said, if you like dark, this book may be for you.
The author did give you a great world building in the short length of time of reading this novel.
