In this volume we finally get to see what all the fuss is about on the island. We learn about the history of exorcists and their true goal, while continuing the question of who exactly is Rokuro. He is definitely connected with Abe no Seimei, and I'm intensely curious about the "hows." (Also, love the fact that Seimei is a teenage girl who is the most powerful exorcist in all of history.)
Rokuro heads to the island and gets some big lore dumps about how useless he is and what the actual plot of Twin Star Exorcists is supposed to be (while Benio sits around crying because nobody likes her especially not the author). We get shown a bunch of the Twelve Guardian families, how they differ and fight and hate Rokuro in their own special unique ways. Art is alright, some neat sequences here that are much better than what we've seen in the series so far.
The way Magano is set up reminds me of dungeon-crawler RPGs from this era, Etrian Odyssey specifically.
The King of the Kegare looks like a cool JRPG final boss.
I was really sleepy and mildly drunk when I read the first half of this volume, so I don't remember it too well. I guess we're trying to do some political drama like the HxH Election Arc? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I really liked this volume. We get to know more about the island and the families on the island. i also like how the love that Rokuro has for Benio makes him do certain things. i'm really excited for the next volume
I don't mind there being a large amount of assholes in a series. I understand not everyone is going to be saccharine sweet and having assholes is necessary because some people are straight-up assholes.
HOWEVER.
That does not mean that you have to overload a series with assholes and the only way to top those assholes is to make BIGGER assholes. And no, just because there is a viable reason for their dickish behavior doesn't stop them from being one-dimensional assholes who only serve the plot by being assholes. Have I gotten my point across?
I'm not going to bother going into detail because I'd be here all day and I can't muster the energy to rant that long. The abridged version is that a lot of the Twelve Guardian families don't like Rokuro because he's a mainland exorcist and his partner is Benio, who's name has been sullied by Yuto. The ONLY THING I want to discuss here is the growing trend of exorcists believing that Rokuro and Benio shouldn't fight because that's not their "job". Their "job" is to create and give birth to the child who will end the war. What I want to discuss is how insulting this concept is, and yet it is steeped in sound logic. You have to imagine that Benio and Rokuro have been training their asses off so that can take down Yuto and bring peace so that their child doesn't have to. Makes sense and is honestly very mature, I like it. HOWEVER, the opposing side has a point, too. What happens if one or both die? Then the other exorcists have to wait for who knows how long for another twin star pair when if they had simply protected Benio and Rokuro that wouldn't be a problem. It's an interesting moral argument that makes this series more interesting. For what it's worth, I'm totes on Benio and Rokuro's side.
Despite my frustrations, this was a solid volume and I loved the fight scenes. The Twelve Guardians are not to be fucked with (despite most of them being PAINFULLY generic personality wise). Still enjoying this series, but sometimes the series doesn't make it easy.
This one was a little slower, but provided good background to the twelve families! I like how they put Rokuro in his place, but that he also found out about the shikigami and Benio's family. And why did he say mother when he discovered Abeno Seimei? Isn't the 1,000 years old while Roku's 16? Or maybe all Twin Star Exorcists are her 'children'?
