Another cute one! This one is about lowercase numbers. Same rhyming format and great illustrations. Halfway through this one, I realized there was a ladybug hidden on every page. Of course I had to go back and find them all and then I went back to the first book and found them there too! 😁😁

Through the peas, we learn all about different professions and roles. Colourful with giant alphabets in lower case letters and peas depicted as various occasions.

Genre: Fiction, Picture Book
Theme: alphabet, learning the ABC's
Grade level: PreK-3rd
Awards: N/A

Summary- This alphabet book is directed towards young learners, but could be used for developed learners too. This story is about Pea's that do different task related to a letter in the alphabet. It give s a story of a Pea's life using all of the letter in the alphabet. It provides pictures of the Pea's completing the task, along with a picture of the letter too. At the end is says,"So many possibli-Pea's" on how to use words from the alphabet.

Personal Response- Personally, I thought this book was super cute and I will have it in my future classroom. I like how it just doesn't show the letter and give a word to match it. There are simple word, but challenging words too which makes it good for a variety of grade levels. The pictures int he book are also what drawled my attention too.

Other Info-This is a very appropriate book for introducing words relatable in the alphabet. It gives many different words choices and provided a descriptive word to describe the word related to the letters presented in the story. This could be used for a wide variety of grade levels.

Reader Response/Classroom Connection-
Using the alphabet, the students could pick a letter and find a word that starts with the letter they choice. Once they pic a word related to the letter, they will have to drawl a picture of how they would sue the word or describe the word.

Another creative way is having all of the different Pea's and each student will get a Pea with a letter. When I am reading the story, the student will have to place their Pea on the board that has the letter. For example, if I am reading about the letter C, then the student that has a Pea Character with the letter C on the back will come up to the board and place the C after the letter B Pea.

Baker, Keith. LMNO Pea-quel, PICTURE BOOK. Beach Lane Books, 2017. $17.99.

Those wild alphabet peas are at it again. Follow them through the abcs as they talk about their jobs, hobbies, and adventures, and each letter gets its own spotlight. As with all the alphabet peas books, this one has really great illustrations and unique words (like ichthyologists). Readers will love studying every picture to see what all of the peas are doing in each one.

In this sequel to "LMNO Peas" we readers can have adventures while discovering the lowercase alphabet.

WHAT IS THERE TO LEARN HERE? YOU KIDDING?

Life is full of such wonderful opportunities, I can't wait to grow up!

Hey, I'm already grown up. Pretty much. At 75.

Yet I've never before seen such delightful -- and delightfully pictured -- occupations.

FOR EXAMPLE

Feast your eyes on the i page:

We're ichthyologists --
we study fish! --
and we're
ice-cream scoopers.

Such a combo!

WOTTA WORLD.

Thanks to irrepressibly fun-loving Keith Baker, now I can enjoy this world more than ever.

FIVE STARS of gratitude.

See what kinds of jobs, hobbies, and past-times the peas embrace.

This is almost an alphabetical survey of a variety of careers BUT one of the J's is jailbirds and the N is newborns and Q is for Queen, so it is more a guide to the types of people that can make up a country. You could definitely still use it for a career day read as there are some fantastic ones in here not often covered (like icthyologists, hair dressers, and locksmiths). Also a unique alphabet read as per norm for the LMNO peas. And of course, the illustrations are lots of fun.

Summary:
In this story we explore the alphabet through jobs and activities the peas do, including the oh so difficult X. It is a great way for showing children an introduction to the alphabet or reinforcing current understanding of the letters.

Activity:
Using the first letter of their names, have students find a job that begins with the same letter (this can be as in depth as wanted) the students can then draw a picture of a pea doing said job.

I do like the Peas series. They are great books for both storytimes and one-on-one reads. I love the bright colorful illustrations and all the little details. There are so many clever things the peas are up to, it's almost like a Where's Waldo, Hide & Seek sort of book - part of why these are such fun one-on-one reads! This one didn't have the chorus to repeat, compared to some of the other books, but the kids know their alphabet, so there's still participation potential. Would be a good addition to alphabet storytimes, or a theme on jobs.

Another entry to stretch on Baker's Peas series, this one listing alliterative occupations for each letter of the alphabet. I prefer "Hap-Pea All Year" as a more successful execution of the peas' exploits, especially since some of the occupations chosen are pretty complicated to explain if you are reading with a small companion. The author's illustrations of pea lives are always charming and uplifting.

I am seeing a pattern here, I love rhyming books!
Summary: This book is the ABC's by naming jobs that people have that start with each letter
Connections: For S, it mentions that we are students which is exactly what I am right now, a student!
How you would use it: I would use this for a preschool or kindergarten class when we are first learning or going over the alphabet

Latest adventures of the Pea squad, this time it is the lower case letters giving young kids another lesson in the alphabet. The author Keith Baker has a winning way of putting words and pictures together. Does a great job of explaining why you need Upper and Lower case letters.

What will the Peas and their ladybug friend tackle next? Can't wait.

Another cute pea-themed book from Keith Baker. This one goes through various occupations, jobs, and hobbies for each lower case letter.

Fun illustrations and soothing rhyme scheme. This is a very creative work. Nice book for kids who enjoy letters and the alphabet. A good follow up to the original.

Peas work together to tell the alphabet. I enjoyed this alphabet book because it had a bigger vocabulary and my kindergartener learned some new jobs because the peas were all at work; for example, some of the peas were botanists for letter B. It made him ask questions and made him curious about other jobs people do.

What a cute book taking readers through the lowercase alphabet in a fun and creative way. I think this book is geared towards Pre-K-1st grade--readers who are getting to know the alphabet. This is a fun book and will appeal to readers who like to learn about different types of careers and hobbies people can have.

Jack and I got a library card for our new library in Canal Winchester, and this is one of the first books we borrowed. He had read the original book before and I didn’t realize how much he enjoyed it. But he recognized the peas and was excited to read this one. He picked it out of the stack tonight, laughed at the peas’ funny antics, read his letters, and had me read it twice. Big success.

This book is just like LMNO Peas, except that each page has different things associated with the letter presented. If you liked the first one, you'll like this, but there isn't anything out of the ordinary in this one as you compare the two.

A followup to LMNO, but this time focusing on the lower case letters of the alphabet. The high energy pea-ple are again busy with a wide range of A - Z activities. A clever rhyming picture book that will be easy to read and share.

I love the pea series, the illustrations are amazing. All those little peas crack me up and there is so much going on. I was surprised to see a return to the alphabet, this time with lowercase letters, but it is fun, if not as original as the first.
