NAO AND TAIGA ARE TOO CUTE FOR WORDS!!!!!
The conflict with their friend gets resolved in this volume, and I like how it was handled, because it feels so indicative of who these 2 are.
This volume takes a big focus on the other 2 friends of this couple. They see the relationship that Nao and Taiga have, and find themselves wanting the same thing. They each strive for it in their own ways, and it will be interesting to see what comes of it in the future volumes.

So precious!! I really like the side characters in this series! Sometimes the side characters are annoying but not so in Honey, So Sweet. I felt so bad for Yashiro when we got a glimpse into her childhood. I’m so glad she is starting to open up a bit. And Misaki is adorable!!! I love how he is realizing his feelings. I really enjoyed this volume. Onward!!

omg onise and kogure are sickeningly adorable. I love misaki and yashiro so much and omg. I'm glad I got up to this volume cause its going to be a few weeks before I can get the final 4 and this stops at a nice, wrapped up place. Can't wait to continue when I can though!!

EXCELLENT volume!

Now that the "drama" that Futami started is over, I am DEEPLY relieved. (Onise really is a great guy.) While I don't feel it's bad drama, I just love this couple so much and wanted nothing to come between them. And while nothing technically did, WOW! That conversation they had near the beginning was total a "game changer" in their relationship was absolutely AMAZING! I know in my last review of the previous volume I said that these characters were full of surprises, but honestly, I just admire their love and faithfulness to one another. I haven't read manga where one cheated on the other in a relationship (and you will NOT find any of that here!), but a huge reason why I used drama in quotes is because this manga seems so realistic when it comes to REAL relationships. It's refreshing and incredibly sweet and just inspiring.

Talk about inspiring, look at Misaki growing up!!! I was SUPER impressed with him in this volume and really excited to see where things go from here! Even Yashiro was surprising! I really loved how we got to see more into her life in this volume and while I get angry at Misaki's mouth at times, this was a time I was really thankful for his bluntness. It was so needed and glad he called out a certain someone even if I was having some internal nervous laughter because I didn't know what would happen next.

As always, I really really really Kogure a lot. She is such a beautiful young and strong woman. <3

Can't wait to read the next volume!

"Misaki, you're in love with Yashiro."

Yay for the secondary cast!!! xD

Futami realizes that Nao and Onise are committed to each other and hopefully, this is the last time he'll try to hit on Nao.

And things start to get interesting when Mr. Tsundere Misaki realizes he cares a little more than he thought about Yashiro, a very quiet girl he's always bickering with.

I really liked this set up because now that we have the main couple established, it's time to see how it'll play out for the other two. Also, we get to learn more about the side cast and they're pretty neat.

*I own all the manga I read/review and don't support scans

the love rival in this volume pissed me OFF i just could not get myself to finish😭 it wasn’t dragged out but it was very unnecessary! sadly, the couple is not cute enough for me to want to continue and get past all the drama. maybe one day i will continue reading but that is not today¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(This is a review of volumes 3 and 4)

Last summer I read the first two volumes of Honey So Sweet as they were the only ones available at the time, and now that more English translations have since been published I went ahead and got them through my library to read, as I'm really liking the series now.

The third volume in the Honey So Sweet series is cute and funny just like the first two. Volume three also had more pacing and was a lot more interesting compared to the prior volumes. The third volume also brings in conflict, introducing the feeling of jealousy between a character and Nao, as a guy, Futami, is basically trying to be Mr. Steal Yo Girl.

Other things I really liked about the third volume were the random doodles on the margins, the bonus short story of Nao and Sou at the end, and this sentence from the manga: "Just because you're friends doesn't mean you get to know everything about someone".

As for volume four, it opens with Futami, who I like to call Mr. Steal Yo Girl, realizing that he cannot steal Nao from Onsie no matter what he does and says. To quote Futami, "Being liked by someone is joyful and painful". Indeed it is. Another memorable quote from this volume is "Loving someone who feels the same way about you must be a miracle of sorts". This volume also had what I feel to be a bit more of a darker tone to it, for example Nao's friend Yashiro didn't mind that her boyfriend was caught cheating on her. SERIOUSLY?

Also in volume four I learned what an Asunaro hug is and I also laughed really hard at the very short special story at the end of volume four. It exclaims "The end to a pointless story!" and I found that pretty funny. There's also a funny line in this volume: "Will you go out with me....yes or yes?!" There's also small bonus manga at the end too, "Honey So Sweet: A Tale of a Small Love".

I'd say that so far volume four is my favourite. There's more twists and the characters are developed more as you see their feelings and hidden sides. Plus it was less kissy-kissy, which was refreshing to me. I don't mind romance, but I felt that the earlier volumes were overdoing it a little bit.

Volume five is now out, and I am currently waiting for my library to get a copy of it so I can read it.

Since this is such a short series, I'm trying my best to save my rave for vol. 8. But I have to shout out a few scenes:

-After the field day relay, Onise catches up to Nao, who is blushing furiously upon having to express her true feelings (i.e. "I love you/that other guy doesn't matter" moment). And upon finding her so flushed/flustered, Onise grazes her cheek and goes "Hey, now we match!" Aww!
-Shinning on our Side Characters/Whoa, This is Heavy
*We get sad insight into Misaki and Yashiro's home lives (Misaki's family depends on him too much while Yashiro's been neglected/satiated with cash from ultra rich parents). How their parents treat them greatly affects their personal lives:
1.Because Yashiro has never been paid attention to, she ends up in an emotionally abusive relationship with Onise's former bully of all people (he's the guy who actually caused Nao and Onise's first "meeting", by beating him up so badly, Nao felt obligated to leave band-aids/an umbrella for Onise). Yashiro admits she's accepted his poor treatment by both showing (we get some very sad panels of Yashiro detachedly pulling on her clothes after a tryst as her now former B.F's phone buzzes with another booty call) and "straight up" telling (quotes because she internally laments upon it).
2.Misaki has a hard time making/maintaining all kinds of relationships because he believes on some level that no one genuinely want him around; his family treats him like a housekeeper/chauffer, instilling the feeling that his life is superficial/even the ones who are supposed to love him don't. What hope is there that Yashiro will be different?

I'm now halfway through and my lack of star is from what I assume will be Nao's uncle's side story... yeah, that felt really clunky.

I really enjoyed this volume~ This volume kind of "wraps up" the love triangle arc (feels a bit weird calling it that for shojo mangas xD) and shifts the focus to Kayo-chan, and also the development between Kayo-chan and Ayumu-kun.

I just love how Nao-chan and Taiga-kun are both so honest and trusting with one another. They were so, so cute in a moment they shared; I literally wondered if one can get diabetes from their cuteness and sweetness. xD

I am enjoying this series. I am now officially more than halfway through and I can say that it is super cute and I don't think that this series will have anything problematic in it like blackmail etc prevalent in other mangas because this series is so cute and innocent. This volume wraps up the plotline of Futami and then the later chapters focus on the side characters and their potential romance. I enjoyed that plot line because we got to see more development and emotional growth from characters which we only saw on the surface level. Overall, I did enjoy this volume but I also felt like nothing happened but things did happen. I think I'll end up forgetting about this volume in a few months time but that does not mean that this was a bad book. I really enjoyed it but the plot is taking more of a back seat and now the series is focusing on character development.

Y'all this series really continues to be cute and wholesome and fuwa fuwa .

First off, I think it was good of Meguro-sensei to be able to wrap off the Futami storyline nicely. It was good to see how Futami understood that Nao genuinely loved Onise and vice versa. I also liked the fact that they still remained friends. I really hope that Futami finds someone else too someday. :)

Next, I also like how this volume gave importance to both Yashiro and Misaki. So far they have really been treated as complete sides so it was nice to see them get some "screen time" this volume. I think it would also be a cute development to see them on later on the series.

Anyway, allow me to praise again how cute the art is in this manga! I truly believe that a big reason why I'm continuing this series is also because of how cute the art is. Looking forward for their shenanigans next volume :)

What a fire volume! It ends the Ayaha arc and completes a Yashiro-centri arc. Both arcs are handled extremely well. The Ayaha stuff continues to be really well written. Chapter 17 is standout in the story and the art department. The Yashiro arc was amazing. Oit of all of the four of the MC's friend group we know about Yashiro the least. I really enjoyed how the arc really fleshed her out. The arc is sad and melancholic which was a nice change in tone from the longing and fluffier arcs of the past.
The art feels very well developed. There are still personal irks about the arc but it feels at its best in this volume.

Yay, we're getting to know the other characters a bit more. Wow, I really didn't see where the Kayo storyline would go. She's quite a complex girl...but then Misaki hints at a certain complexity to his life as well, so yay again for growth and change and deepening of love.

The Nao/Tai relationship is still going strong. The 'settling' into the relationship feels slightly foreboding, which means there is likely something coming that they will have to endure. The fact that the author has the ability to surprise me makes me look forward to the other volumes eagerly. I can't wait to see what happens next!

During the school festival Futami confesses to Nao but she turns him down because she loves Onise. Afterwards the festival finally comes to an end and Nao begins to call Onise by a nickname, Tai. Later on more is discovered about Yashiro and that she has a college boyfriend, Ikumi.

This was a great volume that started to develop the secondary characters more. I am looking forward to where these revelations will lead the story in the future.

I received this advanced copy from VIZ Media through Edelweiss in exchange for my honest review.

A nice resolution to the Nao/Taiga/Ayaha situation. This couple is so sweet and pure, seriously. It’s a bit unreal but nice at the same time.

Kayo! I’ve liked you from the beginning, but I had no idea your backstory was so sad! T___T Usually storylines where young girls have relationships with older men make me upset, and while that still true here I like that it shows that Ikumi does have some affection for Kayo (despite his cheating ways). I love that Misaki totally calls him out for all of it because that’s how I feel too!

This series gets better as it goes on. She keeps adding more and more layers to the love story, and it's quite interesting. It's still really cheesy tbh, but I still enjoyed it. Overall, a developing storyline and romance that makes for a satisfying story.

W finally get some backstory on Yashiro! I really like her character and her romantic relationship was a great juxtaposition of Tai and Nao's. I loved seeing Misaki become more assertive and showing that he cares about her rather than blowing her off. Also, their teasing banter is adorable, they are so meant for each other.

Misaki's and Yashiro's relationship is much more interesting than Nao's and Onise's, who are both overbearingly kind and sweet. Their kindness-at-all-costs attitude is not really a message I agree with--you really shouldn't be friends with people who vow to break up your relationship. The relationships develop too fast for my liking.

Volume 4 was much better. We finally got a back story for Yashiro, who I always thought could be a fascinating character, so you understand her a little more now. Nao and Onise relationship has gotten stronger and Misaki is still Misaki.

I continue to enjoy this series and the characters. We mostly have growth for the supporting characters in this volume, but that is not a bad thing.
I liked the pacing and I really enjoy the bonus manga that are included. The artwork is also really cute.

I liked learning more about Yashiro, and I'm happy that Misaki finally admitted his feelings! They're all kind of ridiculous, but I think that's why I like them so much. I just want to adopt all of them and hug them and feed them, they make my practically non-existent motherly instincts kick in.

The character developments are great! Even when I think I know where it’s going sometimes they just switch it up. I also really enjoy our side characters and the fact that they are getting to know each other better.
