Katie de Long writes steamy and dark New York Times and USA Today bestselling romances. She publishes paranormal romance as K. de Long, flirty, daring contemporaries as Lila Vega, and dark, sensuous romantic thrillers and dark romance as Tiger Tarantino. Her books blend the bloody punch-to-the-gut spectacle and wit of a David Fincher movie with kink, chemistry, and edgy, angsty romance.
Katie lives in the Pacific northwest, realizing her dream of being a crazy cat-lady. As a kid, she flagged the fade-to-blacks in every adult book she encountered, and when she began writing, she vowed to use cutaways sparingly. After all, that’s when the good stuff happens. And on a kindle, no one asks why there’s so many bookmarks in her library.

Ok so let me start out by apologizing for my first review. Ugh! I should've known not to review negatively because the authors had no control. Slowly but surely, I have been losing faith in Amazon. It's been getting really bad this past year. Maybe they are growing so fast that they don't value the customer anymore? Idk. I'm thinking of not renewing my prime membership. They have just sank to a new low. Well, guess I better watch what I say on here since they might remove this. I'll just say, if anyone reads this That is having trouble with all the books not being in the set, it's Amazon's doing. I never noticed it until I read the TOC, like I always do. It says to sign up to mailing list and click on instafreebie to get rest. Amazon is the reason for this. You can push the rest of the books through your device. The authors are working on this and probably already have it fixed. Amazon is so unprofessional for treating the authors this way. I am so sorry guys for all the work this is causing you. And especially Rebecca because they have her name in big letters right before it says to sign up for her newsletter. Well, guess I should stop ranting. I know you guys worked so hard on all these books and deserve more than the price, especially after what you went through to get it to people.
I'm writing this based on the books in this set. You can't get much better than these authors. If you love Urban Fantasy, witches, vampires and wolves, then this is the set for you. And it's a real steal. So totally worth it.

Review for Watcher

I love how different Steffanie Holmes stories tend to be from the rest out there. There are always plenty of twists and unique characters that really stay with you long after you are finished.

Watcher has a young woman struggling to keep up her business after her ex took off with her money. She meets Cole and is introduced to a whole new world of shifters. Cole is tied to his owner and is trying to escape and have his own future. He didn't expect to meet a woman like Belinda. Their attraction is immediate and is dangerous to both of them.

This book ends with a major cliff-hanger so be prepared to need to wait for the next one to see what is in store for this couple. It will definitely hook you and make you eager for the second part. I really liked the characters. I had a lot of respect for Belinda trying to make it work on her own. She has a lot of pride and is not afraid of hard work. Cole has not been close to others for a long time and is really changing as the story continues. They make a great couple.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

After being told by the police to stay out of the investigation of the accident they found papers inside a box in there parents office. Kalissa had to check it out .
Ayden had to go pick up Kalissa after she was ran off the road believing the accident was on purpose. He did not want to since she broke his heart when they were 17. As divinities they were finding out they had a job to do. The quest took them through a lot and a lot of emotions. As they continue on the quest they get stronger in there powers and learn more about each other. Lia Davis has a way of spinning her books I could not put the book down.

There are some great stories in this set, written my some terrific authors. The one I started out with is Laxmi Hariharan's "Awakened"; it's how the world in her series, Many Lives, begins. It has so much going on you don't dare put it down till you finish. It's the story of a young girl, Ruby, who as a child wanted only to be loved, something she never felt from her parents, especially her mother. Due to this absence of love, she commits a horrific act and runs away. Now a young woman, she miraculously lives through an attempt on her life and is forever changed. She can see on her body the physical changes and the pain it causes her when she seems to be in danger. But there are more changes that she will not know till later (and I'm not telling). This also bring into her life a protector, Vik, a policeman; only she's not sure what his real goal is, nor what her true feelings for him are. Then her mother comes back into her life causing death and destruction to make a so-called better world. Ruby's story is very powerful, magical one and how this story ends, well it's the end of life as she knew it and the beginning of a new one for mankind.

1. Forgotten Visions (The Divinities #1) by Lia Davis Not Interested

2. London (Allie's War Early Years #8.5) by JC Andrijeski *1 DNF Star
Something about a super special seer called a Bridge. Her name is Allie and she's kind of a jerk. Her best friend is Cassie, whom she doesn't really like....she sleeps with Jaden repeatedly, even though she doesn't know why...and despite liking her brother Jon, she is also a jerk to him. And Revik was also a jerk, who also has a drinking problem. This was not a pair that I wanted to read more about.

3. The Deepest Black by Rainy Kaye *1 DNF Star
A girl goes around killing evil fae...because she can see them for no reason. She runs into a fae she has seen before and they decide to team up. This is very long winded and it makes no sense...the characters are flat and I gave up a little more than halfway through.

4. Awakened by Laxmi Hariharan *1 DNF Star
This had zero world building, hardly any story...it was like seeing the main scene in a movie with zero context. Just not for me.

5. Highlander's Sword (Clan Matheson #3) by JoAnne Wadsworth Not Interested

6. Angel Blood (Ryan Chronicles #4) b J.E. Taylor Not Interested
This was in the Fall Into Magic Anthology, which I thought was interesting for book 4 in a series. Especially because it obviously assumed you read the first three...which I did not.

7. Watcher (Crookshollow Ravens #1) by Steffanie Holmes *1 Star-Not Interested
Belinda is struggling to make ends meet after her ex ran off with all of her possessions. A biker walks into her bakery and says "you can get me off with those pretty lips, if you like" and our sweet Belinda is not in the least bit outraged. Quite the opposite, she finds this exceedingly charming. And that was when I knew this book just was not for me.

8. Witches of Dark Root (Daughters of Dark Root #1) by April Aasheim Not Interested
read the first few chapters and can only tell you that a girl left her home town with some creep to start a cult.

9. Weapon by K. DeLong *1 DNF Star
This was really weird. A girl is killed by her psycho ex and she is taken to be a reaper...or something like that. But she has a hole in her head and needs to always concentrate to make herself look normal for some reason. About halfway through nothing made sense at all so I gave up.

10. Fire: The Elementals Book 1 by L.B. Gilbert ***3 Stars
Diana is a fire elemental, she and her sisters work for the Mother keeping the balance between good and evil. When a child goes missing for a second time she takes it personally and takes on the mission to find her. She reluctantly accepts the help of vampire prince Alec who is also looking for a missing child. The two become close as they uncover a disturbing group of dark magic users. Alec wants to continue this closeness but Diana is wary of just about everyone.

The rest of the books were available through instafreebie but I wasn't in love with this anthology anyway.

This is an anthology of books and I am just reviewing one for now and will come back to update it when I read the rest.

London by J C Andrijeski

This is the prequel to her Allie's War series and sets some of the scene for what and why some things happen in the first book of the series.

Revik is in London and has a place to live and a job working as a consultant. He is hiding in plain sight as people will know who he is and what he has done. As part of his penance for being a traitor he is there to watch and protect Allie who is in San Francisco from a safe distance.

Allie has no idea what she is and that anyone is watching her, so has a normal life working in a cafe, coping with her alcoholic mother, her crazy best friend Cass whist being protected when he can by her older brother Jon. She meets a guy called Jaden who is an IT guy by day and in a band by night and they start dating.

Can Revik keep her safe without going to far to protect her, and can he keep the detachment he needs to do his job properly?

I loved this book. It sets the scene very nicely and it would be very easy for new readers to start reading the first book in the series after reading this. Having read the series I found it nice to read about before and maybe join a few dots together in my head about when things were that way and how it started.

Fire by L.B. Gilbert

The four elements are all women who are tasked to bring back order to the world by finding those that are in danger of or have tipped the balance and either correcting their path or destroying them to neutralise the threat. This means they are all strong and powerful and use their own element to achieve their aim - this is a book about the Fire element (Diana).

Diana is tired and jaded - she is frustrated with her focus on the bad guys (either correcting or destroying) and not in helping the innocents that have been affected (and most of the time are already dead).

A child from a previous case has gone missing and Diana has decided she will find her - only to find out another child has also gone missing. The Mother that controls the elements wants her to bring down the coven of back witches that has taken them whist doing another job. She then meets an unlikely helper and that turns into a friendship as part of the adventure.

I love the premise of this series of books - it is so nice to see women being the powerful ones and able to take on the bad guys. I could feel empathy for Diana at times and there was a lot of action involving her battles to take bad people down. It was well written and everything was well described. The book finished with me wanting to know more and eager to read the next book in the series.

This review is for London by JC Andrijeski since it is the one one I've read so far. In other realities very similar to ours, the is another race on earth, the seers. In JC Andrijeski's Quentin Black series, the seers are hiding in plain sight, and hardly anyone knows they exist. In The book London, the majority, or at least the humans think it is the majority, of seers are owned by humans and literally kept on a tight leash, or collar. Humans have long talked about the energy surrounding a human, seers have energy or light surrounding them in spades. Everything is in their light: their emotions, their hates, fears and dreams, and their sex drive which is very strong. Their light is so strong, they can control humans and read their minds. That's why seers wear collars: they prevent the seer from accessing their light and keep humans safe.
Allie, our female lead, has always felt different from everyone else, and all of the required blood tests show her as human. She was an abandoned baby, so the authorities can't check her parents, but the indications are that she is human. Revik, our male lead, is a unique seer in that he is not owned. He lives in the open and does work for the government so he is consider a "safe" seer and is not collared. Revik is also to watch over Allie, not as a bodyguard, but to let her live her life and keep tabs on her.
The first part of the book we learn about both Allie and Revik. We learn enough of Allie's backstory to understand how she got to where she is. When she meets Jaden in the bar, her actions are understandable. Remember the whole sex drive thing and her thinking she was human? And since Revik has come to love her as he watches her, his reactions are understandable too. It's what happens to Revik next that may confuse or upset readers. Seers have to share their light. If they hold their light too close, then they can't function. In Revik's case, all the love, hate, anger, fear, desire, guilt are rolling around inside him. His superiors have tried everything they can think of to get him to open up. When none of that works, they turn him over to Torek. Even Torek isn't succeeding until he mentions the ultimate humiliation in Revik's mind of being a sex slave to a human. Only then can Revik finally open up and start to heal.
This book isn't for everyone. It isn't a feel good story. It's about opening up to people who want to help, about finding the right time for things to happen, about knowing no matter what we want, we can't control everything.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Never mind Fall into Magic - it's more like FALL INTO MY HEART!

While I haven't yet read this all, this book stood out to me and I wanted to share my thoughts right away!

What Lies Within Us by Kiki Howell & Gina Kincade

Can’t tell you how truly magical that sounds. 5 GOLD HEARTS

Beauty stole her already shallow breath. While that is an abbreviated quote/line from the story, it so aptly summed up my reaction & feelings to this story! I have read stories by both Gina & Kiki on their own, but this is my first time reading a magical/paranormal/occult/gothic romance collaboration between these two authors and it blew me away! Blew me away right into this beautifully amazing & magically dark World where I was transported into the unknown, completely captivated & riveted, living it, experiencing it all as if I was actually there, as if I was Kyna!! I wouldn't trade that for anything! Especially the hunk o'man part! Wink This is a somewhat deep, intense kind of read, but in a good way! The detailed descriptions of everything from the storm to the magical objects and spells brings this whole new dynamic to the story, enriching it, adding depth, bringing to life every single part of the story, no matter how big, small or even how inconsequential it *may* seem. It truly is What Lies Within Us that makes this story the magical gem that it is! I know just how tremendously talented Gina & Kiki both are, but when you combine that talent... and then add in their genuine gift for crafting stories you can’t put down, characters that you love (or hate), storylines that keep you reading well into the night and have you actually living the story with & as the characters...WOW!! Just WOW! You get one phenomenal powerhouse of talent in epic proportions and a book that you wish was 1,000 pages longer!! Other stories, no matter how fantastic they are, seem pale in comparison to Kyna's story. It truly is “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." All I can say is that I hope they plan on writing a lot more books together because I am as addicted as one fangirl can possibly be!! I have been caught in their spells, charmed, enchanted mind, body, spirit and soul.

*So far, this review is only for Fire by L.B. Gilbert* *More to come soon*

This was so awesome!!! I loved it!! Diana is a fire elemental, which means she is totally badass! She is so strong and kicks major butt! Diana is 1 of 4 elementals that are tasked with taking down evil doers by Mother. The 4 elementals each have an affinity, there is Fire, Earth, Air, and Water, and all of them are pretty much indestructible, and each of them have the ability to use each of their elements, such as Diana can produce and control fire. This book focuses on Diana, but we do get a bit of some of the other elementals. Diana is after a circle of black witches that has kidnapped 2 children for nefarious reasons, so Mother has tasks Diana with bring this circle down, and she is also tasked with taking down a corrupt corporation. Along the way, Diana meets vampire, Alec, who has a connection to 1 of the kidnapped children, so he and Diana team up to find and destroy the black circle. Fire has chapter POV's from both Diana and Alec, and I loved that because I liked getting a deeper insight into each characters psyche. This whole book was absolutely entertaining and wonderful, and the writing really flowed; I loved the world building. I enjoyed the mystery of finding out who was involved in the circle and what their plans are, and I was entertained as the characters hunt for clues to find the black witches, and I loved that the characters travel to different places; I especially love when books go to New Orleans! There are also some awesome action scenes, and it was great to read strong, confident, smart women! Diana and Alec are adorably sweet with each other, and I liked the slow build to their relationship; it's nice that they have time to build a strong connection, and I liked the little quirks to both Alec and Diana. I loved that Diana has a bit of a sense of humor, and I loved that Alec is a scholar, but he is still badass as well! This whole book was very entertaining for me; even the slow parts of this story were interesting and enjoyable! I will definitely read the next book in the series! And check out more from L.B. Gilbert!

I am so excited about this box set and have every intention of reading every story page by page. I did however complete Laxmi Hariharan's Awaken. This is the prequel to the Many Live Series and about Ruby and Vik *deep sigh* and the start/finish of something big. There is plenty of excitement and although both of them have many secrets the fire/passion between the two, while not consummated it is definitely real. Vik continues to pop up when needed makes you wonder if his secrets are the reason why. When Dr B shows up it looks like Ruby's secrets wont be secret for long. An amazing read answering a lot of questions about Ruby.

Fire L.B. Gilbert: Diana is a kick butt and take no prisoner type of gal. And she is bad to the bone that is until she meets Alex and thru their friendship they find love. The story is good and so is the plot. Lots of action and because of this and the way the love happens I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see how the series evolves from here, this is a great start.

I can't wait to finish the rest of the box set!!

Crow's Caw at Nightmoon Creek BY Calinda B
This was My first book by this author but wow what a powerful book. I really enjoyed it.
It's part of the woodland creek series (an awesome series in its self) but don't worry about being lost or what book to read first. Each book can be read in any order or all by it's self. They just take place in the same town.

This one is about Mercedes and she is a crow shifter and as a crow she does her part to usher the dead to the other side. In the very beginning of the book she finds out her best friend is dead and it's her job to free her friends soul by helping to find out who killed her.
The mystery in this is awesome and I feel Calinda B pulled my imagination to a new high with this story wow. The characters are wonderful and so easy to connect to. The mystery part? I never guest who it was! Yea shifter fans are going to love it. I thought it was fantastic,

I like anthologies and boxsets for catching up with favorite authors and for meeting new ones.

This review is for Forgotten Visions by Lia Davis:
I enjoyed the first book in this series which features magical folk (magickin) each with a special "talent" or power, called Divinites, magical creatures, and goddesses. Kalissa is a witch and a Divinity who is searching for reasons why her parents were killed, and who might have done it. Ayden is an old friend and fellow Divinity who joins her on her quest. Magic and mayhem and murder ensues as they get closer to the truth. Will they survive their quest? What about the feelings they have for each other? Are they destined to be together? Read this book and answer these questions for yourself. *I voluntarily reviewed and advanced copy and my opinions are my own.*

There are 20 excellent paranormal romance/urban fantasy stories in this collection. Every single one of them is well-written by great authors. Laxmi Hariharan's writing always makes you feel as if you are there inside the story. Rebecca Hamilton and Conner Kressley...I cannot understand how two different writers can write a story that totally sucks you in, leaving you wanting to read more from them. L. B. Gilbert's clear writing showed me a totally new world built around a tale of the elements. Calinda B wrote a story with so many twists and turns you won't figure it out until the end. These are just a few of the writers and their stories. I love seeing my favorite authors in this collection, and have also added new favorite authors to my list. You'll love every single story in this collection.

What Lies Within Us by Kiki Howell - I was really impressed with the depth of this book. Kyna and Aedan are match fit for each other in all ways. Darcryn is a bit strange and a lot crazy. Saoirse is quite evasive, mysterious, and a touch crazy. Kyna is confused most of the story and not sure what to make of everything that is being told to her. I couldn't imagine going to a foreign land to discover that my whole life was orchestrated in a way that I could never imagine. Kyna is brave and courageous in the ways that count and was raised to face life head on. Aedan is HOT, very caring, and protective. Kiki Howell did a great job bringing this book alive with her characters and descriptions, as well as the story line. I am anxious to find out what happens next.

More to come...

This was an awesome box set! I love when they publish these box sets, because we get to "taste" new authors that we might otherwise overlook. Already a huge fan of Noree Cosper, Laxmi Hariharan and a host of the others, I was new to L.B. Gilbert and am so glad I found them. FIRE, first book in the Elementals, blew me away, and I can't wait to read about the next element in the series! AWAKENED, by Laxmi Hariharan, just reinforced my love for this lady's writing. She can hook you with a twist like M. Night! I recommend this great collection to everyone!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book.

Belinda is barely holding on to her bakery after her ex left her and took everything. She goes for a walk in the park and rescues an injured raven. She plans to take the raven to the local vet, but the raven turns into a man, and not just any man, he is the biker the was in her bakery. Belinda and Cole are instantly attracted to each other, but they both have to overcome some obstacles in order to even think about having a relationship. Sexy and exciting, fantastic book.

J.C. Andrijeski- London

Err..ok....well? I'm confused, angry, frustrated and hurt for both Revik and Allie.

This is the first book of this series i have read, so I think it's understandable I'm a little confused. But it also makes me want to start the series properly. I really want to see this couple progress.

Seers??? What?? I don't think I completely like some of the decisions they made. It's all for the greater good  blah blah blah. What they let Allie go through as what? Some kind of lesson in pain but still keeping her humanity? After something like that she is obviously going to be closed off. Any idiot would know that. Then poor Revik :( all he wanted to do was protect her and they stopped that. Then what he was put through aswel? Well let's hope they are happy with the results. To me he is broken  my now and has just given up his fight.

Maybe once I've read the other books I might be more understanding, but for now SEERS SUCKS!

Also of what I can see from this the Seers are mistreated cause of who they are. And once again the worse of humanity comes out. HUMANS SUCK!

Man this book and the people got under my skin. I absolutely loved the book and can't wait to catch up on the series properly. I really want to see how Revik and Allie do.

Good

For the most part all the stories were good with the exception of two or three that were nothing more than soft porn.
