I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I have to say thank you Rebecca for letting me read Love, Lies & The D.A. It was one great book! This one goes to the top shelf, my favorite book of all time. Rebecca is one of my closest friends, and I love her writing style from both books. She puts a lot of cities and landscaping through the whole book, which will make you jump to your computer just to see the images. She creates a perfect world, as for the scenery, but the characters do all the hard work.

I won’t give spoilers, or little treats as I call them, it will ruin the book for you. Let me just say that both main characters Jada and Jonathan are a piece of work. They are both strong, independent, mature, they don’t whine and it’s hard to find a book where the girl doesn't’t cry all the time about everything and anything. They have smart remarks and devilish in a kind of way, but you are going to laugh until your stomach hurts. I connected with Jada instantly; I loved the way she reacted and thinks, the way she fought to get where she is.

Anyway, this story isn’t just full with romance, which you read in every book these days. Yes, it has passion that will make you crave for that type of man, but at the same time, it will make you cry with sobs and hiccups. It broke my heart into tiny pieces and I couldn't believe what I was reading. It has many twists and plots that will make you stay put, and don’t move a muscle, because believe me; you are not going to know what happens next. You won’t have a chance to get bored! I loved it entirely! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a brilliant story!

“Why’d you have to be the bloody District Attorney?” I whisper.

“And why’d you have to be a murder suspect?” he responds”

Well, ok, so this wasn't a typical read for me. It was kind of outside of my norm. So many different ways to go on this one. Right out of the gate, there's a bunch of stuff coming at you, sex, lies, betrayal, intrigue, lust, more sex...I was hooked pretty quickly.

Jada McLean has led a privileged life. She's a wealthy business owner who thinks that she's got life pretty much mapped out. She is just days from her wedding. Life is just beginning and things are good. That is until she walks in to her own condo only to find her fiancé in a very compromising and not to mention, engagement eliminating, position. Jada is shocked, hurt, outraged. She flees to a vacation home in Lake Tahoe to get away. While there, she makes the acquaintance of a very hot, yet very arrogantly obnoxious district attorney, Johnathan Kole. The two run into each other a few times and undoubtedly do their best job of bringing out the worst in each other. Though they would never admit it, they cannot deny the strong attraction and pull that they have towards one another. Shortly following Jada's return, she learns that her ex-fiancé has been brutally murdered and that she is now the main suspect.

My Castings:

 photo image_zpsfd44dd9c.jpg

Love, Lies, & the DA was a mix of mystery and romance which I liked. The mystery component in the book is decent and will keep you guessing until the end. There are some twists and turns that continue to build, especially towards the end of the book.

Hmm... this book was pretty good. Was it great? No. Why 3 stars? Well, I found this book to be unnecessarily long. And don't get me wrong. I LOVE a long book! But, when it's long for a reason. This book felt overly verbose and just contained detail about a lot of inconsequential, every day things that in the end, in no part contributed to the overall story. I found myself skimming through a lot of these areas because I was completely getting bored and losing interest. I feel like a lot of this could've been edited out and the book would've been so much better for it. That is just my opinion though, and others may not agree. But to me, the book carried on in this pattern of peaks and lulls. It would be really good, edge of your seat, exciting, one minute and the next minute, I was twiddling my thumbs.

I would recommend this book if you are looking for a mystery that also has romance in it. It was a pretty good blend of those two genres. The writing was actually not bad. I liked it but I didn't love it. I just think the book needed a second trip to the editor before being published (for wordiness not for grammar).

I will say that they last 10% or so of the book totally kept me on the edge of my seat and had my heart about to jump out of my chest! This ending was everything I wanted it to be. Scary, exciting, suspenseful, dramatic, and of course, romantic. :)

This book was not what I expected…it was so much better. It was filled with lies, betrayal, kidnapping, murder, forbidden love…and the list could go on. Love, Lies & the D.A. sucks you in from the very beginning and keeps you wondering and questioning everything that is happening page after page. Just when you think you have something figured out Rebecca Rohman goes and adds another twist to the story and keeps you asking yourself: What in the heck is going on?

After a few chance meetings Johnathan wants nothing more than to get to know the beautiful Jada better. However, his job as the D.A. and Jada’s new list of crimes being pinned against her are preventing them from really exploring what it is going on between them.

Over 450 pages and I never once found myself getting bored or wishing the story would move along faster.

After Jada McLean finds her fiancé and her best friend having sex on her desk in her home office she calls off the wedding and decides to take a vacation. Her so called vacation turns into a few of the worst possible months of her life and has her questioning everything she thought she knew about her life and herself.

Her only saving grace comes in the form of a rude, cocky, arrogant and entitled D.A. named Johnathan Kole. People don’t talk back or argue (unless it’s in the courtroom) to Johnathan Kole…at least until Jada’s self-assured, independent and smart mouthed self comes strutting into the hotel lobby. Johnathon can’t help but be annoyed and turned on all at the same time.

This book takes you on one crazy adventure after another. Just when you think things can’t get worse…they do.

This was the first book I have read from Rebecca Rohman and definitely will not be the last. Her writing will hold you captive from the very first until the very last page. She has an amazing ability to make you feel involved with the characters and awake every emotion in you through her writing.

Next time you are looking for a book mixing a little business with pleasure be sure to read Love, Lies & the D.A. You will not be disappointed.

I was excited alongside the characters right from the beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple perspectives shown throughout this novel. The story flips back and forth without the character headings that tend to break the story’s forward flow, yet at the same time everything is quite clear and enticing. The main character was so easy to identify with emotionally that it made the story very approachable. This is one of those books that you can picture living through. It’s emotionally raw and vividly real. I felt like I was watching a drama unfold rather than simply reading a novel.

The female lead in this novel is so interesting. I love that she’s self-made rather than from old money. It shines through everything that she does. It’s really nice to see a character who cares about more than just herself or her relationship. Not only that, but she is also so real. I appreciate how strong she is, yet still able to depend on others and ask them for help. It’s the best of both worlds. Because of the shifting perspectives and the fact that the story is written in the 1st person, present tense you really get a feel for who she is and how she appears to others. This story is so personal. The monologues from each character give you an in-depth look, understanding, and feel for who they are. I really love the random thoughts that flit through; it makes everyone seem so real. Even though these individuals are about as dissimilar from me as they come I could still feel for and identify with them.

The fact that Rohman writes this story in the 1st person, present solidifies the urgency present throughout the story. This story had my heart tied in knots and my mind racing a million miles an hour. Rohman has taken the romantic suspense genre and given it a bit of a twist to produce something eloquent and unforgettable. This isn’t a quick, flippant romance novel. It’s about real life and unimaginable, yet real, situations and was intensely thought provoking. Rohman’s well written, flowing descriptions illuminate the entire story. Even her romantic and erotic scenes are written in a very unique manner. They aren’t just fluff or page filler.

This novel was a rollercoaster that took me through a gamut of emotions. It had me on edge, made me laugh, brought tears to my eyes, and made me want to live a little. I didn’t read it all in 1 sitting, there just aren’t enough hours in a day, but I definitely couldn’t stop thinking about it and was dying to get back to it. It was a trip that I’d definitely recommend, and read again.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

For Jada McLean life is great - her business is incredibly successful and she is getting married imminently - that is until she walks in on her fiancé and her best friend doing the dirty in her home and on her desk. She immediately cancels the wedding and cuts both of them out of her life, before escaping the media spot light to the beautiful, scenic Lake Tahoe.

It is here that she meets the arrogant District Attorney, Jonathan Kole, and sparks ensue as they clash and Jada puts him firmly in his place. Jonathan is drawn to Jada's fearlessness and independence and is determined to get closer, just as Jada is determined to keep him away whilst she licks her wounds.

Unfortunately for Jada her life is about to take a turn for the worse as her now ex-fiance, Richard, turns up dead with a bullet in his head. The police believe that Jada is responsible for his death and Jonathan and Jada could end up on opposite sides of the courtroom, with Jonathan's father defending her.

This is an action packed story, with Jada being set up to take the fall for Richard's murder and the plotters stopping at nothing to make this happen. In amongst this is the developing relationship between Jada and Jonathan. Sparks fly constantly as two strong, independent people try to find their feet in their new relationship. Jada and Jonathan are two fantastic, strong characters, who draw you into the story. It makes an interesting dynamic having both the characters so strong but it works so well here.

'Love, Lies & the D.A' is a perfect blend of romance and suspense, with lots of twists and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat trying to work out what was going to happen next and who was behind the plot. There are frustrating moments when you sit screaming at the characters as they bumble their way through their relationship trying to protect each other and there are sad, poignant moments. This is a brilliant read and one you won't be able to put down once you start reading it until the last twist has been revealed.

★5 AMAZiNG STARS★

Okay so let me start off by saying I went into this book without reading a blurb, synopsis, review, anything! And it seriously was the best thing ever. I didn't know what to expect all I knew about it was the title. And I freaaaaking lovvvved it I had the hardest time putting this book down, it's a page turner It kept me on my toes the entire time.

I really don't want to give too much away because there is just SO MUCH. And in a good way. I never felt like the story was dragged on, the main female, Jada, didn't get on my nerves, and to add to it, it was all about solving a crime. ( ;

So it starts out Jada is due to get married in like 9 days. She catches her fiancé up to no good. She decides she needs to get out of San Francisco for a breather. She runs into Jonathan Kole AKA Mr. Asshole. He is the DA of SF. So many huge things happen. Their life's intertwine with eachother and they have to deal with each other a lot more than not.

You will feel sooooo many emotions with this book. Happy, anger, suspense, sad, heartbroken, Joy,
I can honestly say five stars isn't enough. I fell in love with this whole story. I laughed, cried, screamed, everything. It was beautifully written. The words just went perfectly together. It was a beautiful story. I was so sad when it was over. I wasn't ready to finish the story.
Do me a favor. Pick this book up as soon as it's released and read it. I need someone to scream, and awe with me about this book.

Holy shit! Rebecca has completely blown me away with her writing. I had no idea what to expect going into this book and I am completely floored. This is honestly one of the best books I have read in a while. Rebecca is seriously one talented writer.

The storyline of Love, Lies and the D.A. cannot be summed up briefly in a few lines. So many things happen in this story and it is truly amazing. Love, Lies and The D.A. has it ALL. And I mean ALL. This book is SO well written. I am seriously impressed by Rebecca’s talent. The plot and story have depth and are so well developed; this is not a fluffy story at all. There are so many twists and turns and holy shit moments. There’s suspense, action and drama. There’s also emotional, tender, touching moments between the characters that tug at your heart. The interaction between Jada and Jonathan as they get to know each other and let each other in is beautiful. And the sex scenes are hot as fuck.

Told in alternating POVs between Jada and Jonathan, it grabbed me and I couldn’t put this book down. I love getting inside each character’s mind and Rebecca nailed that on the head.

Love, Lies and The D.A. is long but don’t let that turn you off. I loved every single minute of it and didn’t want it to end. There are a lot of details in it- of people, places and things- so be prepared to pay attention and get lost in a fabulous, fabulous story! I will be hounding Rebecca until her next book comes out so she has been warned!! FANTASTIC job Rebecca!!

This book was given to me as an E-ARC

in exchange for an honest review.

Jada is on her way home, picked up the wedding dress, finishing up last minute details of her wedding in just over a week when she walks in on her fiance' and ... well....

The wedding is off... let's just say that...

Jada decides to take some "Me Time"

and get her mind righted considering she is the owner of a major hotel chain... lol

Jada ends up in an unseen encounter with Jonathan Kole!

OMG HOT HOT HOT

Grey Eyes, very in charge and determined in everything he does... :)
mmmmmm

Okay so this book isn't out yet, so I will

keep the spoilers out of it :)

There are sections in this book that are so HIGH action followed immediately by periods of solace...

But the intermission is definitely needed in there!!

Murder, Scandals, Embezzlement, Corrupt Law Politicians, and a very amazingly relate-able cast in this book!

I loved that nothing was as easy as it seemed even if everyone thought it was going to be... Normally with romance(and I have read a couple books that weren't easy peasy, but not very many) guy meets girl, instant attraction, girl falls for guy, guy is strangely in love *SHOCK*

Insert Hearts and flowers

This book went as far as to have me feeling like I was right there!!

OH! And Micky and Maggie!!

**Tears approaching again*

I found it hard to put this book down to be able to do other things and then...... When it was finished....

With enough twists and turns and unforgettable heart wrenching moments and a surprise ending.!!!

This book is NOT for fluffy romance lovers,  fluffy and super happy and only have minor hiccups along the way....

BUT... if you like a book that'll keep you on your toes all the way to the end with amazing character chemistry, mystery, and some seriously tear jerking moments, then you should pick this book up and dive right in as soon as you can!!

I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!!

I LOVED this book! Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite genres and this one is at the top.

Jada McLean is a successful hotel chain owner living in San Francisco. She's brilliant, beautiful and is about to marry a man she considers the love of her life. Until she walks into her home a week before her wedding to find her him and her best friend in a rather compromising position.

Cancelling everyting, she flees to the sactuary of picturesque Lake Tahoe, where she rents a house over looking the lake. Being secluded, away from work and well-meaning friends is just what she needs to mourn her failed relationship with Richard AND her best friend.

Until she meets Jonathan Kole. Tall, sexy, arrogant. He screams sex and the promise of sin. He's also the District Attorney of San Francisco.

A chance encounter in a restaurant leaves a bitter taste in Jada's mouth about Jonathan, but leaves Jonathan intrigued about Jada. He wants to get to know her. She wants nothing to do with him. Trying to put her life back together, she starts to heal. Until she receives news that her ex-fiance has been murdered and SHE'S the prime suspect.

What follows is a story of set-up, betrayal, passion, love and loss. This book was gripping, edge of my seat drama that had me trying to guess what was happening next, with every turn of the page. There is one plot twist that literally had me screaming NO! and gasping for breath.

This is the first book of Rebecca's that I've read, and I will be her fan for life. If you love Romantic Suspense, this is a MUST READ!

Love, Lies & The D.A. by Rebecca Rohman, was a nicely written, suspenseful story, filled with humor, danger, and romantic moments. The story was well paced, easy to follow, and held my attention from beginning to end

Jonathan and Jada were very realistically written characters, their relationship slow building in trust, and romance, the chemistry was strong, smoldering and romantic. The primary secondary characters, the H/h family members were well written, had good presence in the story and were all very likable, especially Jada's brother Bobby. Needless to say the bad guys...were bad guys.

There were several "oh no" moments in the book for me, some making me very sad, while other just made me cheer. A few of my issues with the story were the repetitive info that would come up in conversations between Jonathan & Jada, and Jonathan, treating Jada as such a fragile person, when she was, such a strong woman for all she had been thru - both emotionally and physically.

This was my first book by Rebecca Rohman, but I was so satisfied with this book, that I ran out and got her other book Uncorked, and will move it closer to the top of my mountainous TBR stack. I hope the author continues to write, hot sexy, suspenseful stories like this one.

I received a arc copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

I found the book wonderfully written. I found myself not really liking Jada at first- I thought she was kind of a snobby b-word. But as the story progressed and I got to know her more.. Turns out she isn't so bad.. I misjudged her. Goes to show you that you can not always judge a book by it's cover.. In this story there is plenty of Love, Suspense, and some fun.. to keep you interested and wanting to read more. The timeline of events is realistic. The character's intriguing. I think I watched Jada grow some during the story and I don't think the ending could have happened any other way, very good. I could not put it down once I got into it and must say I was disappointed when I came to the end.. I wanted more.. Not that the ending did not satisfy me but I had come to feel like I knew the character's and well I kinda miss them now. Rebecca did a great job and I look forward to hopefully checking out more of her work.

3 Mysterious Stars!

I enjoyed the last 25% of the story the most. It was gripping and I couldn't wait to get to the end.

I had a hard time connecting with Jada and Jonathan. Because of that, I had a hard time focusing on the story and I have to admit it took me longer to read this than it should.

I liked the overall storyline and found it entertaining and the suspense and mystery added to the reading experience.

I did however found the book to be a bit unnecessarily long. There were parts that could have been cut out. If the story was shorter and more condense, it would bump up my rating to a four stars.

Love Lies and the DA is more than just a romance, it's a mysterious and suspenseful! I recommend this to anyone looking for something a little different, something that will keep you guessing until the end. : )

ARC received by the author in exchange for an honest review

As you know, I am not a writer myself, but I wholeheartedly believe that one of the most difficult genres to write must be romantic suspense. You have to do a whole lot of research, keep your reader interested in solving the mystery and, at the same time, make sure that the reader also feels invested in the romance between the main characters. I am very happy to say that this book must be one of the best I have ever read in this genre.

Meet Jada McLean: a smart businesswoman, resilient, strong, yet with plenty of soft spots as well. After walking in on the worst situation imaginable - catching her fiancée, Richard, having sex with her best friend, Koto - she deals with her grief the only way she knows how, which is by leaving her business in very capable hands and licking her wounds at a beautiful location - Lake Tahoe - and doing this alone. She runs into Jonathan Kole one of her first days there, and let me just say that their encounter is less than friendly - but it still made me smile a bit.

Soon after, Jada learns about the fact that her very ex-fiancée is very much dead, and, naturally, it comes as a big shock: who would kill Richard? And to make matters worse, she then becomes the prime murder subject!

Thus follows a story ripe with suspicions, harassment, violence, and kidnapping. But let me not forget to add romance as well...

I am being very vague about the storyline here, I know, and it is quite on purpose. You cannot really expect me to give away too much, because 1) it defies the purpose of a review, and 2) I would hate to accidentally give you any clues about the plot, hence ruining it for you.

One of the things I love about this story is the fact that it is set over a rather long timespan, and Miss Rohman really makes you get to know both Jada and Jonathan. I enjoyed how the story was told from both of their point of views, and what I particularly love is that we are shown the different range of emotions that Jada goes through: grief, anger, betrayal, vulnerability, depression, insecurity - both in terms of her being a murder suspect, of course, but also when dealing with her feelings towards Jonathan. I found her to be a most appealing and believable character - especially when I learned about her photography: she is not a complete workaholic - and it was easy to connect with her. I would also like to stress that the fact that Jada holds herself back from exploring her feelings towards Jonathan is more than acceptable: remember, she has just suffered from experiencing the worst possible betrayal, only to find herself being framed for murder, so it is only natural that she does not believe in her instincts anymore.

And Jonathan? From the very beginning, he sees something in Jada that he wants to explore further and he is rather protective of her early on. He can have quite a volatile temper - believe me, I wanted to throttle him more than once - but at the same time he is caring, sweet and, in many aspects, just as vulnerable as Jada. He falls hard for Jada, but her being unsure about herself in turn makes him feel insecure.

Being the D. A. does present a whole set of problems for Jonathan and Jada ever becoming a couple, and I must say that I found their situation to be very realistic - and yes, even Jada's mistrust in Jonathan in the beginning is more than founded. Had these characters simply thrown caution to the wind immediately upon meeting, I would not have believed in them, and I would not rate the book as high as I have.

At no point in time did I have the faintest idea about who the murderer was, or even why Richard was killed, and I must say that I applaud the author for having thought of every single detail, however small it may seem, and keeping me invested in the story from beginning to end. Miss Rohman gives the reader one small tidbit of information at a time, but the story never seems unnecessarily drawn out - every detail counts in order to make the pieces fit into the puzzle. At least that is how I feel.

I want to conclude my review by saying, again, that this really is one of the best books I have ever read. Both Jada and Jonathan are likeable, honest, real people, and I love the fact that we get to experience the sweet, loving moments between them despite the severity of Jada's situation; the pacing of the story is perfect to me, and I love this author’s writing style. There is also a whole set of secondary characters which all play a part in the story without switching the focus away from Jada and what she is facing. And yes, to the readers who want to know: the sex scenes are very steamy and they will make you tingle in all the right places *wink*. I was feeling all kinds of emotions while reading this book, and my adrenaline really picked up quite a bit in the last 25-30% or so – Miss Rohmann had me extremely worried once or twice, which I liked, and I will most definitely be reading more of her work now.

Love, Lies and the D.A. by Rebecca Rohman is a February 2014 publication. I recieved a copy of this book by author in exchange for an honest review.
Jada experiences one of the worst things you can imagine. Her life has been clicking along at a perfect pace. She is sucessful in her business, she is very self confident and is in love, and just days away from getting married. Then she walks in on her fiance having sex with her best friend. Dang! How does someone go forward after that without some serious issues? Well, Jada decides to take a vacation, but that doesn't last for long. She is informed that her rat of a fiance has been murdered. Naturally, Jada is the number one suspect.
Jonathan Cole meets Jada in an unusal way. As it turns out Jonathan the new D.A. in San Francisco , is put in a rather delicate situation when it looks like Jada could be charged with murder. Jonothan's father is set to defend Jada, and Jonothan would have to procecute. Yikes!
To make matters worse, Jada and Jonathan find themselves having to spend a little time together, which gets Jonathan in even deeper trouble because he finds himself very attracted to Jada.
From that point on their lives become a tangled web of tragedies, lies, manipuations, criminals and cat and mouse danger.
This book reminds me of romantic suspense back in the good old days. This story is very contemporary, but the style reminds me of the classics I just don't find out there anymore. This book is rather lengthy in comparison to most novels these days. It covers a lot of ground and once again this was a hallmark of novels say back in the 1990's. Really meaty plot and sub-plots that keep you wondering who is trying to frame Jada and why. The relationship with Jonathon is so complicated. The poor guy just got elected and his entire world starts falling apart. As Jada copes with all the garbage in her life, Jonathan is an Oak. But, Jada has a lot of pain to deal with before she can trust and so she and Jonathan have troubles working through those issues.
Jada does have a support system. She is very close with her brother, also an attorney. They stay in touch very often, which is a good thing because Jada will need all the help she can get.
Twist and turns and red herrings abound. Questions about life after the monumental shocks Jada and Jonathan endure leads to a much more fullfilled and productive life in the long run. But, until then Jonathan must deal with the ethical problems in his career, his family problems that involve his parents health, the girl he is falling in love with is about to stand trial for a murder she didn't commit, and is also in grave danger. Due to the circumstances, Jada will not confide in him and he also pulls a few stunts with her by keeping things to himself. Just when one thing gets cleared up , another bombshell drops, keeping Jonathan and Jada on an emotional roller coaster all the way up to the end when you get kicked in the stomach by an incredible event that will leave you in shock.
I loved this homage to the traditional romanatic suspense novel. The only flaw in the novel, for me, was too many side incidents happening all at once. I can't go into too many details without revealing something I shouldn't. But, these events were personal tragedies. One or two of these types of things was probable, but there were too many for one book. After awhile the emotional punches lost steam because by that time I was sort of numb. I didn't expect the twist at end it hit me hard. This is a testament to the writer's skill because it's important to have the reader engaged and hopefully invested in the book's characters. I think also, a bit of editing was in order to keep out repeat conversations and to keep the pace or momentum on even ground. Perhaps a little trimming would speed thing alot just a little and keep the story from becoming too "busy". Other than that I enjoyed the book and would like to see more of these kinds of romantic suspense novels in the future. Overall this one is a B.

***I received an ARC via Fiona's Book Reviews in return for my honest opionion***

Well, this was unexpected. I was expecting a love story with a side of drama but actually this was full of drama and suspense; The body count in this was higher than your average episode of Midsomer Murders. There was a love story going on too between our feisty, mega successful businesswoman Jada (who, happily for her, is quite untroubled by the need to spend much time running her businesses during her personal crises, yet still effortlessly rakes in the millions. I really want her job) and arrogant, handsome hottie DA, Jonathan Kole, but the love story was secondary to the drama. If drama's your thing then you will probably lap this up.

Hours before her wedding, Jada finds out that her fiance and her best friend are cheats and liars, so she promptly cuts them both out of her life and takes off to a dream location a few hours drive away. It's hardly surprising then that when she meets Jonathan for the first time, she's not feeling too amenable. She is plain speaking and doesn't hold back, telling him exactly what she thinks of him. For a man used to being surrounded by fawning yes-men, Jada is a delight. The fact that she's a gorgeous gal doesn't hurt either of course.

As the story unravels, Jada finds herself under suspicion for a serious crime (or ten) and everything she thought she knew about her cheating ex and best friend is called into question. Meanwhile the body count keeps on rising and Jada is reluctant to confide in or trust anyone, let alone the sex on legs who is also her likely prosecutor.

This is told from alternating points of view, both Jada and Jonathan which usually offers a great insight into what the characters are actually thinking, but unusually in this, the characters don't seem to do that much thinking...I learned more about their thoughts from what they just come out and say. There was masses of dialogue and that took some getting used to. There was precious little direction with the dialogue too - only rarely would you get a clue as to how a character was saying something. It's only when that's missing that you can appreciate how such small details can direct the tone of a scene. Is the character being sarcastic?, Is he angry?, Is she full of regret?...a little direction might have improved the chemistry between the characters and really brought scenes to life. Also, I would have really appreciated a sub heading with the character's name every time the pov changed. I lost track of who was narrating a few times and that began to bug me very quickly.

I simply have to mention the sex scenes. Anyone with a nervous disposition is advised to look away now. I read lots of 'mommy porn' books and I thought - thought - I'd reached the point where I'd read every possible euphemism for a lady bottom. Then I read this: "Engorged ruffles" No? Then how about: "Rubbing her pleats" And lets not forget: "Saturated ruffles" I'm ashamed to admit I spat my tea at that point. I don't know what else to say, other than I hope this is not the start of a new lady bottom language craze because, frankly, my tattered nerves will not stand it.

If you like lots going on and a story full of suspense then you will probably enjoy this more than I did, but I crave a touch less Midsomer Murders and a little more romance in my literature I'm afraid.

Love, Lies and the D.A. is the latest release from author Rebecca Rohman and the first of her work I have read. Well, Rebecca has a new fan in this blogger. This book was wonderful.
Young, beautiful, smart, savvy and über successful businesswoman Jada McLean has worked hard at building her popular up-and-coming hotel chain and is now just a week away from the next meaningful chapter in her life….her wedding. It’s in preparation for that day that she heads home early one afternoon and finds her fiancée and her best friend in a very compromising position. A very naked, bent over her desk, hot and sweaty compromising position. Immediately Jada calls off the wedding and cuts her now EX-fiancée and EX-best friend out of her life. Trying to seek some solace and time alone, Jada heads to Lake Tahoe and almost immediately upon arriving meets an arrogant man who irritates her every time they run into one another. Unfortunately that seems to be an awful lot. Just when she can’t imagine things getting much worse, she gets the horrible news that her ex-fiancée has been murdered. Now, instead of mending a broken heart, Jada finds herself a suspect in his murder investigation. Jada also finds herself getting closer and feeling a bit warmer to the irritating man, who just happens to be the D.A.
Jonathan Kole has just been appointed to the position of D.A. and he couldn’t be happier. He’s smart, handsome and things seem to be going well…unless you count how many times he’s put his foot in his mouth with the beautiful new face around town in Lake Tahoe. It seems he can’t manage to stop being a jerk around him and he needs to change that. He gets his chance when she becomes his father’s law firm’s client and he starts seeing more and more of her. Jonathan also realizes that she is completely off-limits and could be career suicide considering her suspected role in a murder but he can’t help it. She needs a shoulder to lean on and dammit; he wants to be the one. Is she worth risking it all?
What starts out as a relationship of annoyance between them slowly builds into more when Jada and Jonathan find themselves in the middle of some intense situations. Murder, kidnapping, theft, and deceit, just to name a few. But can something good and true come from such an impure origin? Only time will tell.
This story started out with a one-two punch in chapter one and just got better from that point on. Jada has ben dealt quite a crappy hand and needs to pick up the pieces. That proves to be easier said than done and the hits just keep coming for her. Luckily, even though Jada and Jonathan’s relationship started out a bit strained, they find out pretty quickly that the attraction they feel is something that shouldn’t be pushed aside. In the meantime, the investigation into Jada’s ex-fiancée’s murder leads to some incredible findings that involve many more players in a plot that I never expected. I can’t give anything away but I will tell you this: You will be on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Oh, and the epilogue? Simply perfect. I had a big grin when I read it and let out a happy sigh.
If you enjoy romantic suspense with every emotion packed into the pages, this is definitely a book for you! Thank you, Rebecca, for an amazing story!

Actual: 4.5

This was one of those books that I went in based from the synopsis only. It sounded like an enjoyable contemporary that I would enjoy. But little did I know it was going to be one of those books that I LOVED and stayed up late 3 nights in a row finishing it.

This is one of those books that grasps your attention from the very first pages and keeps you hooked until you reach the end. The story starts off with every girls worst nightmare. Jada had been planning and waiting for her waiting day. She's about a week away, counting down every last moment and checking off the last few items on her to-do list. When she gets back to her condo she walks in something no woman should, her fiance having sex with her best friend and maid of honor. Unfortunately for Jada this just get worse from her.

She rents a house down in Lake Tahoe to get away from things. She decides to head out to brunch at a beautiful resort, and this is where she comes into contact with Johnathon ( READ BELOW FOR THE FIRST MEETING). He is pretentious, rude and full of himself. And also happens to San Francisco's newly appointed District Attorney. As the days go on, they get thrown in each others paths on several occasions, and even though she can't stand his audacity she can't help but realize how attractive he is.

As Jada is attempting to come to terms with her now called off wedding, she receives even worse news. Her ex-fiance Richard has been murdered and Jada herself, is the prime suspect. Her amazingly awesome and lawyer brother Bobby swoops in and gets her the best attorney around; Charles Kole. Who just happens to be Johnathon's father. But the kicker is as she starts allowing herself to fall for Johnathon, she realizes that if in fact the case goes to trial, Johnathon may be the one who can put her in jail.

Honestly, this short synopsis that I just summarized, is just the tip of the ice berg in the action of this story. So much happens, that even if I tried to create an itemized list, I would not be able to. But the true aspects of this story that grabs your attention and does not let go is the characters and boy there is a huge group of them and they are just so enjoyable to read and get to know.

Jada herself is just a marvel. She is thrown one bad thing after the other and she somehow she survives each and every thing with class and dignity. She is a successful business owner, but is also caring and compassionate and strong. But she also has her very vulnerable moments that are sweet and touching.
Johnathon's character is one that grows the most. He is pretentious ass at first, but the sacrifices he makes to protect his family and then eventually protect Jada is just plain hot and swoon worthy!)

The action in this book is what keeps you reading. Yes this book is on the longer side, but honestly, each page is refreshing and fun and keeps you reading. There was never one point where I was like, okay I hope this books wraps up. My own real flaw with this book, was that I felt too much happened. I just wanted Jada to catch one break. No one should have to endure everything that she did.

I caution you the ending takes a turn that I did not see coming, one which made me shed several tears, but all in all it added to this amazing, action-packed story.

My Review:
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is a book that I would never forget. It simply left me without words. I’ve never seen such story.
In the beginning I said…wow, over 500 pages; this must be a big thing. I like big books full of events, turns of situation, change of characters. This book has all you want. I love the writing style, it’s easy to read and it’s catching. It has everything: action, suspense, humor, danger and love.
I read and read and when I thought a problem was solved, another was coming. So, you can’t put the book down, you can’t stop reading and with every chapter you learn something new and unexpected.
I love Jada . She is strong, smart, responsible and beautiful. When she has problems she can deal with them and she become stronger. From the beginning your attention is caught by her story. She is very happy because in one week she will marry the man of her dreams. She had it all: the dress, the ring and the perfect man…Richard Preston. That was until she caught him having sex with her best friend.
When her dream man becomes her nightmare her attitude is perfect. Jada is an organized woman and I like that a lot. I like a woman who has the courage to leave a man who has hurt her. You have to be a powerful person to do that and you don’t let a man to put you dawn. I admire her for this. From that moment I knew this is a very good book.
On the other hand, we have Jonathan Kole the District Attorney from San Francisco. He is sexy, rich, smart and very rude. He thinks he deserve all, he didn’t know a woman who can face him and put him in his place. Until he meets Jada. The moment when they met is memorable. I liked it so much, it’s hilarious. These two can’t stand each other, he’s an asshole and she is a frustrated bitch. It’s just perfect.
The book is full of events that never stop coming; you can’t even breathe from anticipation. Another thing I like is that the author is unpredictable. I was shocked. After her break up with her fiancé , Jada decides she need some time for her alone. I thought that she will cry her lost, that she will be broken. But then, something terrible happens and I was like…What? How is this possible?? So my attention was never distracted. I was there with her, I felt what she felt, I cried with her, I had emotions when she and Jonathan were together. I’ve felt it all.
From my view, if a story makes me feel this way means that I have witnessed something huge, remarkable and I love Rebecca for that.
This book is one of those that consume you; the things you feel are so strong. At the end of the story I cried so hard, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Just amazing!
There are no words to describe what I felt when the book was over! Loved it! So, big respect for Rebecca! Incredible author, awesome story! Thank you so much for this book! It was on honor to read your work!

Free book for free review

Jada McLean is about to get married in nine days, when she walks in on her fiancé in a little more than a compromising position. Days later, she’s on a trip that she intends to be relaxing and a prelude to her fresh start, when she runs into the rude, obnoxious, but gorgeous Jonathan Kole.
Jonathan Kole is San Francisco’s newest District Attorney. When he finds himself deeply attracted to a stunning beauty, he has no idea that she’s about to get into BIG trouble with the law—and he’ll be the one presiding over her trial. To make matters worse, his father is the lawyer representing her in the high-profile case.
When a series of events force them together over New Year’s weekend, Jonathan’s feelings and ethics will come into question, while Jada comes to terms with the fact that she is falling for the man that will be responsible for attempting to put her behind bars… Little do they know, they're both about to fall into a whirlwind so deep, it will send both their lives spiraling out of control. This is the first novel I’ve read by this author, do I want to read more of her work. This is definitely a romance, but it is also a mystery. This novel has everything from desires, dreams, hopes, concerns, and what they need from each other and how they can help as well and tons of action .. it pulled me right in after first couple of pages.. It keeps you guessing until the end.. awesome book rebecca!! can't wait to read more of your work

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review:

When this book came across for me to read I was not sure what to expect and let me tell you It was FANTASTIC! I read this book in 24 hours!

Let’s start from the beginning.. The way the book starts will have your mouth drop immediately, I certainly did not expect to get so wrapped into a book so fast!

Let’s meet our head lady Jada McLean, she is an AWESOME STRONG leading lady which I love, she will NOT be the one to have the man smack her across the face and strangled with no fight, no no she will fight until the end!

She is getting ready to marry her love Richard until one day she comes home early.. and oh BOY do you see how strong Jada can be..
Fast Forward her getting the hell out of San Fran and going to Lake Tahoe and running into the “don’t you know who I am” arrogant DA Johnathan Kole.. Really, really an arrogant man, but BOY does she have something he wants to know more about and that arrogance turns into passion.

This book has more twist and turns then you can count! You have adultery, murder, car chases and so much more.. This book will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end and wanting more even when it’s over (even though really its over)

I am having a hard time writing this review without spoilers because well there is sooo much to say.. So once this book is out I will re-write this and let’s just say I will have sooo much to say!

Oh I do have one thing to add, the sex in the book is just hot enough.. I want, no I need Jonathan, and all women should be Jada.. I LOVE a strong women lead.. one that will give a man back as good as he gets!!
This book is 5 SOLID GOLD STARS for me!

Wow! I just put this book down and I think I might need some time to recover! Love, Lies & the D.A. is an extremely fast passed story that had me hooked from the very first page! Sorry for all the exclamation points but it’s just necessary! We’re first introduced to Jada; she is a super savvy business woman with confidence to spare. This is no damsel in distress! From the first chapter on Jada is dealt some pretty crappy hands and despite it all she holds her head high and is prepared to fight.

When we are first introduced to Jonathan he comes off as an entitled, rich asshole! Even so there is a definite spark between these two and fight as they may it is not going away! Jonathan is the newly appointed San Francisco D.A. and very career focused, but once he meets Jada that focus drifts a bit ;)

There is a nice slow build up with this relationship, no instalove and no jumping into bed the first time they meet but oh boy is it worth the wait! Rebecca Rohman can write a very beautiful and erotic sex scene! These two characters were great together and I loved the fact that there wasn’t much in the way of unnecessary relationship angst. The mystery in the story kept me guessing the whole way through and some parts were extremely raw and emotional. There were many scenes in this book that had me literally in tears and at one point I was sick to my stomach it was so gut wrenching.
Overall this was an awesome(and long) book that kept my attention the entire way through. Definitely one to pick up!

I was given this book as an ARC . Thank you Rebecca for sharing your wonderful gift of writing with me. This is an amazing book.

Jada McLean is a strong, beautiful, successful business woman. She just happens to walk in on her fiancé and her best friend in a very compromising position. She puts a halt to the wedding nine days before it scheduled to take place. She quickly emails all the important information to her assist and decides to getaway. She sets out on her own to relax and regroup. This is when she runs into "him" Mr. Jonathan Kole he is San Francisco's hottest newest district attorney. He is rude, hot, obnoxious, sexy, bossy, and handsome. Jada is so angry with herself because she feels her body is betraying her. She finds him irresistible and it infuriates her. Jonathan cannot get this smart, sassy beauty out of his head. He can't believe the way she speaks to him and that she has no idea who he is!
In a strange turn of events Jada finds herself right in the middle of I high profile murder case. Jonathan is presiding over the trial and his own father is representing Jada.
Their lives become intertwined and the lines begin to become blurred. This is a crazy wild ride full of mystery, romance, off the charts sexual tension, action and betrayal. Rebecca's writing draws you in immediately and you become emotionally vested to the characters. I was unable to put this book down. I suggest that you find yourself a comfy chair and get ready for a fantastic journey!

I really don't want to give too much away because there is just SO MUCH. And in a good way. I never felt like the story was dragged on, the main female, Jada, didn't get on my nerves, and to add to it, it was all about solving a crime. ( ;

I totally Love Rebecca Rohman's writing style. She is a very articulate writer...but at the same time is not overly verbose and more often than not her paragraphs are succinct and to the point.

Love, Lies and the D.A is a full length story with so many twists and turns, as a reader there is no way you cannot read to the very end. Ms Rohman keeps her readers on the edge of their seats slowly teasing with each chapter giving you a slight hint about what is to come...but not enough to give it all away.

Jada McLean is having a bad day,No a bad year...what more could go wrong? ...Everything!

Jada is about to lose total control of her life - to the point that she is constantly having to look over her shoulder...and at the same time protect all those she cares about.

Jonathan Kole could be her knight in shining armour or just a huge pain in her backside.

This story is a combination of mystery, thriller, action, romance, and a little erotica as the cherry on top. You will be chewing your nails wondering what's going to happen next...and believe me even if you take a guess at what is going to come next...you will be surprised by where Ms Rohman takes you...this story is an unexpected adventure that I could read over and over!

Recieved for an honest review:

The title to this book totally fits the story. This book is fill with love, drama, murder, sex, family, and a hot guy. Jade is about to get married when she comes home early from work one day and of course catches her husband doing the deed. After kicking him out and leaving to get away from it all she has some unfortunately incidents happen to her. When she has a run in with Hot D.A. Johnathan Kole her life seems to keep taking those turns. Because of her hurt she's not sure if she can trust him. However fate has a way of pushing and shoving. Just when you think their lives are going to come together BAMMMM another tragedy strikes. When reading this I wondered the story pulls you in. When there is heartache I cried, when there was something funny I laughed, and when crap just didn't go poor Jades way my heart felt hers. This is truly going to be a number 1 seller and you will love every minute of it. The book seems long but it pulls you in and you don't want to stop reading because you have keep finding out what happens next.

This book has so much that it draws you in right from the start. Romantic suspense with an incredible cast of characters. You start the book with an amazing lead character Jada who is smart and sassy, and takes no crap. After finding her Fiance and best friend having an affair she is rather jaded, and in no mood to deal with the arrogant Johnathan Kole that imposes himself on her breakfast. The book takes you on a fast and bumpy ride from there intertwining love and suspense masterfully.
I was extremely Impressed with Rebecca’s writing – she managed to write with amazing detail, and had a knack for capturing her characters multilayered emotions. I found myself wrapped up in the novel, getting mad, laughing out loud, and jumping up and down and at one point on the verge of writing to Rebecca to ask her why in gods green earth she would do that to me.
I loved the twists and turns that this book took, it was far from the standard who done it. If you are looking for a page turner that will keep you sucked in until the last page this is the book for you.

I thought I knew what was happening and what was going to happen, but I was wrong.

In the beginning, it was hard to read because it felt like I was reading a timeline, it seem a little cold but I couldn't put it down.

This book was filled with so much... cheating, betrayal, lies, corruption, murder, finding trust and love.
