She was his and no other motherfucker would ever have her.
As the person in charge of the Cincinnati Chapter of Warriors and the eldest council leader, Sloan Murphy has his hands full. It also doesn’t help that rogue vampires and Crimson Rush is still a problem, which means the war they are fighting is not over. There is always someone wanting to take down the VC Warriors, his VC Warriors. What he doesn’t want is a new secretary, and he definitely doesn’t need the unwanted attraction he feels towards the human redhead. But letting her go seems impossible to do.
Becky Spenser is thrilled to have found the secretary position at the VC Warrior’s office. After finally divorcing her loser husband, she’s sworn off men and determined to be independent, to only answer for herself. The only good thing her ex ever gave her was her wonderful son, who is now an adult. And she is more than ready to start her new life. What she didn’t expect was her intense attraction to her cranky and growly boss. How can she ignore him if all she wants to do is jump him?
He had no room in his life for a mate, a human mate at that. He was not mate material. He knew that. Though deep down, he wanted it even knowing he couldn’t have it.
I have love the broody and bossy Sloan since the first book, and I was so excited to finally read his book. He is so damn sexy when he’s so growly and I loved seeing his possessive and protective side when it came to Becky!
Unfortunately it took quite a while before I liked Becky. The way she lost her head around Sloan was too OTT and annoyed the hell out of me, and she had a few TSTL moments in the beginning which was difficult to ignore. However, she did get better by the 60% mark, and I loved that she was there for Katrina when she needed help.
“Never doubt that I love you, Becky. I never thought it was possible and I denied it would ever happen, but it has and you are mine.”
As always the sexy times were very steamy, and I loved how dominant Sloan was in the bedroom, it was so damn hot! Because of Becky these two are definitely my least favorite couple in this series, which is sad because I adore Sloan, but it just took too long for me to start liking Becky. But I’m so happy that he finally got his own HEA, he’s been alone too long, and deserved someone who would love him, and who he could love.
There were many hilarious moments, especially because of Steve. I just love this goofball :-D And I’m so damn happy that he finally got his own cool power!
Two new characters that were recently introduced to this series had quite big roles in this book. Katrina, the young girl/woman who helped Jill at the former Halfway House in Slade, and Blaze an ex-Warrior who returned in A Warrior Wedding, are great characters. Both has such cool powers, and it seems tragic pasts. I love the chemistry between them, and I hope Blaze will stop denying his attraction to her. And after what happened to Katrina at the end, I can’t wait for the next book to find out whether she’s going to be okay.
As always another new threat has come forth, one that is determined to destroy the VC Warriors, and I can’t wait to see what will happen next.
This is one of my favorite PNR series’. I love these sexy warriors with their feisty mates. The romance is always so sexy and so romantic. And even though I was a disappointed with Becky and had a hard time liking her, I still loved everything else about this book. I can’t wait for the next one, which will be Blaze’s book.
