I LOVE this time-travel historical romance series! The new book MUST LOVE MORE KILTS (Must Love Series, #4) by Angela Quarles did not disappoint. This book focuses on the sister of the heroine from book three and the Highland warrior that she hand-fasts with the first night the sisters appear in the past. Their adventure can be read as a standalone, but there is overlap and I would recommend you at least read book three in the series first.

Fiona Campbell has always loved her family’s Scottish history, myths and legends. She believes her own self-worth is in keeping her ancestors extraordinary deeds and history alive. When Fiona and her sister end up back in 1689 Scotland it is a dream come true. She can become the Fiona of family legend and save their ancestor’s life and finally prove her own worth to her family.

Duncan MacCowan is a strong Highland warrior and faithful friend to the new laird, even though the laird’s sister broke his heart and proved deceitful in his past. When Fiona drops into his life, he opens his heart once again, but she disappears on the night of their hand-fasting. He cannot believe he has opened up to two unfaithful women and will never believe his heart over his head again. Now as this story begins, recovering from a serious battlefield wound, Duncan is surprised to find Fiona returned and caring for him.

Fiona is focused only on the past and believes she has one only one purpose in her life which is to fulfill the legend which say she will save her ancestor from a MacCowan warrior with a specific scar, but the warrior she loves has that scar. She must remain at Duncan’s side wherever he goes. Duncan believes he will never love again, but the attraction between these two just keeps building. Fiona and Duncan both must overcome their personal fears and work together to discover where their destinies lead them in their present versus family legend from the future and if they can tempt Fate for love.

This series just keeps giving me everything I want. The description of the Highlands and its people in 1689 and how two modern women deal with their time-travel. The author’s explanation of the time-travel and parallel histories is interesting and lets me suspend my belief for the story. Fiona and Duncan are wounded and slow to communicate their feelings and yet extremely strong and fearless in other ways and fast to defend their family and friends. The sexual tension builds and there are a few steamy sex scenes that add to the romance perfectly.

I highly recommend this new book and the entire series! I hope there are many more to come.

'MUST LOVE MORE KILTS' by Angela Quarles is Book Four in the "Must Love" Series. This is the story of Fiona Campbell and Duncan MacCowan. I have read the other books in this series (and loved them) and you can make this a standalone book..but know this book does have reference to the other story line in the previous book.
Fiona loves history and specially her families history. Fiona and her sister time traveled back in time to Scotland, 1689 where she met Duncan and handfasts with him. But on their wedding night she sees a tattoo/scar that she knows from learning her family history is that the person that hurts her family bares such a symbol. Duncan doesn't understand why Fiona left him on their wedding night, he thinks she is disgusted by his scar. Which just enforces that he should trust women and he made another mistake.
But these two have feelings for each other that they can't turn their backs on. Can they get past their issue and find their happy ending?
Another great story by Ms. Quarles!

Three hundred years back in time during days of turbulent war in Scotland, two sisters from modern times attempt to navigate their way through history and through love. I had fun with Traci's story and now, Must Love Kilts tells Fiona's in a follow-up. More good times, right? Aye, lasses and ladies!

Must Love More Kilts is the fourth book in the Must Love Series of time travel romances. While it doesn't need to be read in order behind the first two, I would definitely getting it after Must Love Kilts since the events follow right on its heels.

So, we get Fiona and Duncan's story. This is good because the pair of them hit it off as well as Traci and Iain, but then Fiona started acting all mysterious and secretive even with her sister. Fiona's mysterious behavior is explained near the beginning and is at the heart of the conflict between Duncan and herself. Trouble is, Fi's the only one of the two who knows what has her undies in a knot and Duncan has his own hurtful past that has Fiona's behavior sending up warning signals that she's going to stomp on his heart and use him just like the last one did.

It was an interesting situation and I went back and forth on wanting to biff Fiona in the head to get a clue and holding my breath for when the inevitable shoe to drop. See, Fiona thinks Duncan is going to kill her ancestor due to a family legend and it is her destiny to save the family's future and be looked on as her ancestor's heroine, Fiona the brave. Which would have been alright, I suppose, but the reason she's locked onto this need is because she has the idea that she's subpar and she's got serious insecurities so must prove herself.

I enjoyed watching the pair grow and grow together, tentatively building trust and going deeper than attraction to have something more between them. Duncan is on a journey to let go of his past, but Fiona is also on a personal journey that involves literally letting the past go and really seeing what she has and who she is in the present.

As with the others in this series, this is something more than the usual light and fluffy time travel romances. The author did her homework and gave the reader glimpses into the past and the setting, gave characters who were real and struggling, but also a sizzling hot couple a romance lover can fall for.

So, another fabulous entry in the series and I wholeheartedly push this series towards fans of Time-Travel Romance who love their historical backdrops and a sizzling hot couple.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Any time I can go to Scotland, I'm going even if it's through a book. Add a Highland warrior to make it even better. Must Love More Kilts whisked me back in time to a Scotland of intrigue, passion, clans, political upheaval, and the unlikeliness of true love. Fiona was relatable with a desire to prove herself, and Duncan was a man worth striving for. With beautiful touches of the Highlands and well researched history, I was happy to lose myself in this magical story.

So, full disclosure: I received the ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. And, even fuller (more full?) disclosure: I also purchased it on Amazon because I had preordered it and forgotten (oops, my bad!) about it because I flippin LOVE this series and was totally going to read it the day it went on sale anyway and give it the 5 star review I just knew it was going to earn, so yays all around! YAY! That being said, I would STRONGLY advise anyone that wants to read this book to read the entire Must Love series. The first two books kinda work as standalone novels, but this one really does follow the same timeline and characters that are in Must Love Kilts. You’ll be missing some inside jokes, character nuance, and major plot details if you haven’t read Must Love Kilts. So, do yourself a favor and at least read that one first. Seriously.

But, as you can see from my reviews for Angela Quarles’ other works, I’ve read them all, and can honestly say that I love her voice. Her characters are warm and funny, but also flawed and entirely relatable. In this book, Fiona and Duncan both go through tremendous growth and it was flirty, sassy, and fun to watch. They both learn to trust, to step out on a ledge, and to be comfortable with who they are individually and as a couple. Who among us hasn’t questioned their place in their family, in their work, or in the world? It can be overwhelming and make you feel insignificant, right? For Fiona and Duncan, too! And, all of this was even better since we had gotten a few glimpses of them and how….hawt? no. Electric? Maybe. Combustible. Yeah, Combustible.….it would be between them when we saw them in Must Love Kilts. This book really explores the way their instant lust was more instant love and how you can just instantly settle into a relationship and be all in from the beginning. With a few minor (ok, some not so minor) detours or delays along the way. And the scene in the earth bowl? Trust me, you’ll remember it for a while.

Another thing I love about these books is the sense of setting and atmosphere. This really is where Angela Quarles shines as a writer. The descriptions of the valleys, the rivers, the craggy mountains – Oy. It is enough to make you hear bagpipes in your sleep. They are very well written and you can easily visualize the settings of each location and follow along on a map with the character’s journey in the book. You’ll picture the birds swooping and fishing out of the lochs and hear the splash of the water on the rocks. And, while you don’t quite know what everyone had for breakfast that morning, you certainly get a lot of historical details about the Scottish/English conflicts of the period, Clan politics, and what the clothes looked and felt like. You also get moments with real Clan history dotted throughout the story – Red books and the Fairy Flag are real, people! Google them!

So, overall, yes, I loved this book. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves time travel, romances, time travel romances (obvz), Scotland, or hawt guys in kilts. It is a fun romp, an easy way to spend a few hours, and a great addition to this series. Go read it. Right. Now.

There is no doubt that Ms. Quarles has a vivid imagination. Her true talent however, is taking readers along for the ride on her adventurous tales. This time around the journey begins in Scotland, 1689. Fiona, gets up close and personal with her past, when she's thrust back in time. She meets her legendary ancestor, but loses her heart along the way. This is Angela Quarles, so there's always a thought provoking twist that throws readers for a loop. Will she listen to her head or follow her heart? A complex romance that stirs the brain as it lays claim to the heart. Magically thrilling.

Do you enjoy adventure and romance? I sure do. I love this series. It is one of the better time-travel romances out there. This is just one more installment in a line of strong women men who want to right wrongs in the best way possible. Worth a read, worth your time.

Must Love More Kilts is fun, well written, and filled with highland romance. It is the 4th book in the “Must Love” series by Angela Quarels and the second book in the series involving the Campbell sisters (Traci and Fiona) who are transported back in time to 1680's Scotland to prove whether hot guys in kilts are a myth or legend. Must Love More Kilts begins immediately after the conclusion of Must Love Kilts, with Traci married to Clan Chief Iain MacCowan, the conflict between William of Orange and King James II still warring, and when tensions are high and trust is a scarce commodity.

At the beginning of Must Love More Kilts, we learn that Fiona handfasted with Duncan MacCowan and fled the marriage bed before consummating their marriage. She did so because of a Campbell family legend where a brave lass named Fiona saves her ancestor's life from an attack by a MacCowan warrior before he sets sail to Virginia. Basically Fiona realized that she must be the Fiona of family legend because she observed a scar and tattoo on Duncan's torso (as she was exploring his very fine physique immediately after their handfasting) that matched the description exactly as in the legend. The rest of the story is about Fiona resisting and then succumbing to her undeniable attraction to Duncan (he will try to assassinate her ancestor after all), and Duncan learning to trust Fiona after being scorched by past love.

Thankfully, Mary Jane Wells narrated this audiobook, as she did the prior books in the series. She is simply fantastic. She narrates as if there are several different actors being used, and has a spunk and lightheartedness that many narrators lack. I can easily imagine the setting, characters, and urgency in all the right place, and I feel like I'm watching a movie while listening to her narration. In summary, I highly recommend this audio and entire series - you won't be disappointed!

The disclaimer at the beginning of the book was complete crap. It does not “borrow heavily” from Must Love Kilts, there are complete situations that you have no clue what happened unless you read the first one which I did not.
In fact from page one I was lost because it starts with Duncan in bed, shot and out of his mind with a fever. This book glosses over what happened to him among many other things like their hand-fasting that clearly also happened in the first book. 😡

It was extremely frustrating to say the least. The disclaimer should have very solidly stated that there will be many areas of this book that wouldn’t make sense without having read the first one. I do not believe it makes sense as a stand-alone. At. All.

The disclaimer:
“Three items to be aware of before you delve into this Highland adventure: 1) The events in this story follow immediately after Must Love Kilts, and while this story can be read as a standalone, it does borrow heavily from the events of that book, including the fact that the heroine and her sister traveled back in time.”

Duncan MacGowan is the third in command of the clan He has fallen in love with Fiona. Fiona Campbell and her sister are from the future, about three hundred years, more or less.
I loved this story. The three islets that make up the castle, the lush green countryside, the different kinds of trees, all bring you into the tale. The people are realistic and the dialogue is believable. It is exciting and the interaction between the main characters is not only gentle and full of insecurities, but also very lusty. The author has out done herself with this wonderful book of the conflicts, loves and danger of 1689 Scotland. Fiona has come back to fulfill her destiny as she sees it and her sister has married Iain the clan chief. There is a lot going on, it keeps your interest and you really don't want to put the book down.

Can I start off with O.M.Goodness. What a fantastical ending to a great adventure. If you didn't happen to read Must Love Kilts, you might miss a few details which makes this story just awesome. Adventure, a screaming banshee covered in seaweed, danger and finding your true self through love and trust. Angela takes you on a grand adventure through dark seas and lush scenery. The details make you wish you were there, the men in kilts make you want to storm Scotland to find out if the tales are true about what might or might not wear under their kilts. What an amazing writer with the depth of characters and emotion that you crave for more. I very willingly volunteered to read an ARC copy and would highly recommend as a one to read. Angela your the bomb.

Time travel + bodyguard + all the pining? Oh yes.

I loved this couple’s compatibility. Our historic Highlander was giving Ned Stark: honourable, starchy, and secretly feeling all the feelings. And our secretly modern gal was his perfect match: adventurous, intelligent, and horny af.

I love love love how this author writes the the past. Our heroine was obsessed with historical Scotland (she even spoke Gaelic) but she still struggled to fit in. The modern-historical culture clash in these books is just so well done that I’m giddy the whole time I read them.

And then the plot was so romantic 🥰 There were some Highland adventures where our hero was her bodyguard and he was pining for her so hard. But she was betrothed to someone else (and trying to get out of it). And she was pining for our hero so hard. But then she also knew from a family legend from the future that she would have to fight the hero in order to save someone else… it was a whole thing. Lots of physical touch love language and all the emotions.

So fun! I didn’t want it to end.

I fell in love with Angela Quarles book Must Love Britches, the first in her Must Love series.

Must Love More Kilts is a fast paced action novel that kept me interested in the story from the beginning.
It can be read as a standalone book but if you have read Must Love Kilts, you will have the background on how Fiona and Traci come to be in 17th century Scotland.
Duncan and Fiona are a combo that is exciting, sensual, and sometime tense. To see Fiona come into her own as a person is wonderful. I love stories of strong heroines and the Hunky Highlanders that love them.

I completely recommend this book.

I absolutely love this series!
Swept back in time to historical Scotland during a time of unrest, stunningly manly Kilted Scotsmen with swoon worthy accents and gloriously huge hearts. I could not put this wonderfully woven tale down.
The smattering of Scots language brought the book to life, mixed with the push and pull of emotions (which the Scottish folk are renown for, aye 'tis true).
I need me a Scotsman just like Duncan - passionate, exceptionally handsome and loyal.

I love the Must Love Series by Angela Quarles and Must Love More Kilts did not disappoint!! This was a great way to tell Duncan’s and Fiona’s story. If you love Time Travel, Scotland, Men in Kilts and just the hilarious situations that ensue when you are a woman from the future, then this book is for you! If you have not read the series I suggest you start at the beginning with Must Love Breeches. Without reading Must Love Kilts, you may feel a little out of sorts since Must Love More Kilts starts where book #3 ends.

Interesting twist in time

Duncan and Fiona's story had an interesting twist. She has to save her ancestor from Duncan and may have to kill him. That is a heavy burden to carry but she loved the idea that she was "The Fiona" of legend. I liked that there was growth in their relationship and their individual characters. I wish I could have seen their parents go back in time because it probably would have been very funny..

Angela Quarles takes us back, once again, to 17th century Scotland in this time travel romance, with hunky Highlanders, parallel timelines and fierce, independent women. It would take a bit of adjustment to suddenly be thrust back into 1689 and the wild surrounds of Loch Garry. The lack of modern amenities, the language, the layers of bulky clothes to ward off the cold of the Scottish highlands, not to mention adapting to the customs of that era while trying to go unnoticed as a time traveller from the 21st century. Yeah, a challenge. Adaptability is one trait that comes to mind as well as tenacity and some very inventive thinking to keep your true origins secret, and Fiona had all of this in spades.

I enjoyed this because I love time travel romance. I like Duncan because he tries so hard to put his foot down when dealing with Fiona, but he's not mean or hateful just a little bullheaded at times. I like Fiona because she is independent, determined and she has just enough history knowledge to be a little dangerous. Duncan is really a gentle bear of a man and tries to fight the feeling he has for her. The have 300 years of knowledge, normalcy to tackle and it was interesting how they bridge that gap as the build a new love. Great historical romance with a mystery twist, secrets and sexiness!

You can read this as a stand alone book but I recommend you read book 3, “Must Love Kilts” first. This entire series is absolutely a masterpiece!-Barb Massabrook of Tartan Book Reviews Https://m.facebook.com/groups/8225001...

This is the story of time traveler Fiona Campbell and Duncan MacCowan. Fiona and Duncan have handfasted but on their wedding night she see’s his scar and tattoo and runs away. She now knows who Duncan is and the role he is to play in her families ancestry history. As he is meant to murder her ancestor William Campbell. The very one she is to save and make her name a legend. As Fiona felt she was pretty worthless in her own time until she hears the legend of Fiona told by her Granpappy. The one thing she has in common with her parents was her love of their families ancestry, legends, myths and lore. She fully believes if she's the Fiona of the Campbell Legend, it will make her a heroine and give her life a purpose.

Poor Duncan believes she was so repulsed by his scar she abandoned him and their marriage. Plus they had no witnesses so it was like it never happened. Duncan’s history with women has not been great. His heart has been broken too many times which caused has self worth and trust issues. He feels unwanted and never good enough for any woman starting with his mother. This makes him want to protect his heart and swearing never to fall in love again.

Now another wants to make Fiona his wife will Duncan allow this to happen. Plus he knows this marriage would be good for the clan. Yet the jealousy in his heart cannot be denied yet if he he tries to claim Fiona it could put possibly start a clan war! Plus he has yet to face Fiona’s ancestor which will make her a legend. What will Duncan do fight for the woman he loves or step aside for the good of his clan? Plus will Fiona accept Duncan and put her fantasies and legends aside? If he does kills her ancestor will she ever be able to forgive Duncan?

Another spellbinding breathtaking exhilarating read that will leave you wanting more. Filled with non-stop-actions, history, magic, adventure, suspense, betrayal, steamy passion, love and so much more.

I have read this entire series which is absolutely incredible. I have loved each and every book, I love the mix of paranormal, history and romance. Any historical romance reader won't want to miss this phenomenal read!

A really good Scottish time travel romance

This is the 4th in this fantastic and fun time travel romance series. The author mentioned that this book can be read as a stand-alone, but I disagree. Prospective readers should at least read "Must Love Kilts" (Book 3) before they read this one. I had read only Books 1 and 2 before I attempted to read this one, and I got bored. Then I went back to read the fantastic "Must Love Kilts", which tells how the modern American sisters Traci and Fiona Campbell traveled back in time to 1689 Scotland, got separated, and how Traci fell in love with Ian as he helped her find Fiona. In that book, I grew to love Traci and Ian. I also wanted to know more about quiet, brave Duncan and about bold, smart Fiona. Then, I was ready to read "Must Love More Kilts".

I think that this new book is almost as good as Book 3. Unfortunately, the first 25% has some slow, boring parts when not much was happening, and the couple's budding romance was nearly non-existent. However, once Fiona, Duncan, and their group started traveling, plot developments and romantic developments kept coming! I was glued to the book from then on.

I love the complicated predicament in which Fiona finds herself. On her first night in 1689, she had eagerly handfasted herself to the wonderful highland warrior, Duncan. He turned out to be, according to her family's legend, the man sent to assassinate her Scottish ancestor! In addition, she herself must be the Fiona in the legend who stopped Duncan from killing her ancestor. Fiona and Duncan are somewhat insecure, each in their own way. It was heartwarming how they both slowly came out of their shells and started to trust each other and share deeply personal things.

There were a few fantastic, steamy love scenes. I absolutely adore their first love scene, which took place outdoors. Duncan was so sweet and respectful how he wanted to make sure that Fiona wanted to make love to him. That scene was so well written that I fell for Duncan like Fiona was falling for him.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes time travel romance that has a bit of humor, but you must read "Must Love Kilts" before you read this "Must Love More Kilts". In fact, I recommend the entire series, and they are all fantastic in audiobook format as well.

Genre: Romance - Time Travel, Historical, Scottish, Suspense
Stand-Alone: Yes (ish) Features the same characters from Must Love Kilts but is about Fiona and Duncan rather that Traci and Iain
Part of a Series: Yes - Book 4 of the Must Love Series
POV: Fiona and Duncan
Steam-Level: A Slow build to some steamy times
5/5

Having not read Must Love Kilts I was a hesitant to start Must Love More Kilts after reading that this book starts after that one ends and features some of the same characters. However after only a few pages I was hooked and had no problem keeping up/figuring out the important stuff and focusing on the relevent for details for this story, which I enjoyed quite a bit.

Duncan is the strong, silent type - only speaking when necessary and to the point. He's been hurt in the past and has a hard time opening up to others. Fiona is tiny but mighty with one goal - fulfilling her role in her family's history - namely stopping Duncan from killing her ancestor (and also her). Together they learn to love and trust each other.

I liked how the author address the timeline issues faced. The explanation sounded both smart and plausible but wasn't too scientific. Tension is created and further mounts since we know that Fiona succeeds (she is alive) but we don't know what happens with Duncan. We don't know how Fiona stops him. We don't know if their marriage can survive Heck, we didn't even know they were married. (The legend missed that tiny detail.)

Must Love More Kilts was a great mix of suspense, historical, fantasy (time travel), adventure and sexy Scottish highlanders. It was funny, sweet and sexy and transported me to another time and place. I definitely want to read the rest of this series.

I received an advanced copy of this book for free from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Fiona and Duncan are so meant to be together maybe not in the love department but have a history that needs to happen together !! He has such a low self worth in the love department! Fiona needed to prove to herself she was somebody! Fiona kept pushing him aside and not wanting to love him!!! Duncan just thought she loathed him but he loved her (maybe it was just lusted at first , you know men) . They had a connection that neither could deny has hard as they tried! She needed him though to to fulfill the legend.
This story takes your through the ups and downs of love. Could she give up love to do what she thought she must for the legend! Duncan did not understand nor believe her and leaves her . He never had real love ever and did not trust it.
This book finding self worth and love.
There are small battle but the love is so good!!! Angela puts you right in the love scenes where you feel, taste , and hear everything like you were really a part of it!! Her descriptions of the places they visited were amazing!! I felt like I was right there and experiencing it all in person.
I think my very favorite part though as crazy as it might sound is the description on the morning they woke up with his face crease from the sheets!!! So real!!!
Thank you, Angela for giving me the pleasure of the sneak peak of this book and I am giving a honest review!

I am voluntarily submitting my honest review after the author so generously provided me with an ARC copy of the ebook via Book Funnel. Thank you!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Must Love More Kilts. The plot is lively and interesting, and the characters are multi-faceted and engaging. The novel is full of the magic and romance of the Scottish Highlands, with lots of steamy sex scenes between a strong, alpha male warrior and a strong, independent, modern American woman tossed back in time. The sweetness of the romance, however, is tempered with just the right amount of Quarles' signature brand of wit and humor.

Must Love More Kilts is the fourth book in a series, but because all except the last two are primarily set in different locations and time periods, they can be read as stand alone novels. Reading at least the third book (Must Love Kilts), before reading this one, however, would provide the backdrop that would make this novel more enjoyable. While not a prerequisite to comprehending the plot to Must Love More Kilts, I do recommend all of the books in the series just because they are enjoyable, good reads.
