I have always loved Sarah Britton, and Naturally Nourished was no exception. This is a beautiful cookbook, with matte pages, gorgeous photography, and clearly elucidated recipes that are simple to follow but pack big flavor and results. I'm always astonished at Britton's capacity to create complex dishes with simple elements, and reading her work always, always inspires me to clean up my habits and be a healthier person. Her greatest triumph is making such choices accessible, and I'd encourage anyone who feels overwhelmed at the thought of cooking for themselves or especially cooking healthy or with unfamiliar ingredients to crack this open and take a stab. I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised at how simple it is to concoct items you've always thought of as complicated and unworthy of the time spent to create them. I loved that Britton also includes tips to help streamline cooking. Every recipe features an element called a Rollover that you can make extra of in order to help lessen meal prep for the following night, and each is cross referenced to other recipes throughout the book. Naturally Nourished was a wonderful spring read, and has inspired me to make a bunch of things (such as carrot oat crackers, unbaked brownie bites and sunflower seed risotto). I definitely encourage you to try this cookbook or Britton's blog (My New Roots) for some culinary inspiration. I guarantee you'll find something you've never tried before! So worth it.

Something I love about cookbooks is how art is created in the photography of the food and the food itself. However, when I make Britton’s Golden Curry Coconut Dal, I prefer the sight of thick bubbling and the rich aroma that fills my kitchen to its picture found on page 46. It feels like giving away a secret, but it is not my secret to keep so I must recommend this recipe instead of claiming it as my own. I often find a new recipe and love it to death; I suspect this one will be my next victim. -Abbigail

I liked this book a lot more than I anticipated. I didn't know anything about it going into it, but was pleased to see it was mostly vegan and gluten-free and very vegetable forward which is more aligned with my own approach to cooking at home. Lots of ideas in here I'd like to explore!

This is a good book. Lots of great tips for cooking with vegetables and creating balanced healthy meals.

I removed a star (I was tempted to remove two!) for the author’s misleading statement that “Burned and oxidized fats cause free-radical damage in the body (that means no more cooking with olive oil!)”.

Although the beginning of that statement is technically true, the conclusion that we should not be cooking with olive oil is extremely presumptuous.

Please, reader, do some research from credible sources and look at the scientific evidence before you stop cooking with olive oil. Don’t take the author’s statement at face value here, it is misleading and unnecessarily inflammatory.

This is the modern plant-based cookbook that I'm after. Lovely and simple recipes (I'll forgive that she uses the vile ingredient that is coconut oil in most of her recipes).

I never write reviews for cookbooks, but this is the cookbook with the best recipes I have ever tried, surpassing even Ottolenghi's Jerusalem which was my holy grail of cookbooks.
The recipes are straightforward, simple and use easy to come by ingredients, but the combos are original and they work (spinach and coriander in soup - yes!). I especially like the soups.
The photography and writing are also really good.

So, so many tasty dishes in this one. There are a couple of recipes with cheese included but for the most part, it's full of vegan choices. Normally, that would be intimidating for me, but somehow her friendly approach and enthusiasm made it accessible for me. I've looked at one of her previous cookbooks and it was less than stellar. But this one has one fabulous recipe after another. Uncomplicated recipes with lists of ingredients that do not overwhelm. (I'm talkin' about you Ottolenghi.) Sarah Britton is a fine photographer and a good writer so I recommend you check out her blog too.

I follow Sarah Britton's blog and have now read both of her cookbooks. This one I decided to purchase because (especially compared to her first book) the ingredients are SO accessible / affordable -- so I find myself trying recipes from this book frequently! So far my favorite has been the blended brocolli basil soup, which also freezes well! :)

This gorgeous cookbook containing stunning photography, with a picture for each recipe, contains Gluten Free, Vegan and Vegetarian recipes. There are many great unique ideas that will leave your mouth watering and you will be dying to get into your kitchen to prepare these. The recipes are easy to follow with common ingredients. I am so glad that I now have my own copy of this lovely cookbook!

Beautifully illustrated plant based cookbook. Recipes aren't too complex and every one I've tried so far has been so delicious. My family demands the sweet potato date muffins every week!

I will be the first to admit that I may have a cookbook "problem," but Britton's Naturally Nourished makes a welcome addition to the hoard. There are a ton of great sounding items in this cookbook, but what most inspires me are the new riffs on old favorites, such as Ginger-Lemon Split Pea Soup, a grilled Caesar salad with chickpea croutons, Smoky Roasted Carrot Hummus, and the Tomatoes with Basil and Sunflower Meta Feta, as just a few examples. As cookbooks go, this one is lavishly illustrated and does a nice job of distinguishing between how many a given dish will serve as a main dish vs. as a side, or hors d'oeuvres. And at $29.99 for this high-quality hardback, it would make a lovely gift, too.

I recently received this book through PBS, and couldn't be enjoying it more. All of the recipes have beautiful photos which is always nice. The majority of the recipes are vegan. I would enjoy cooking through this one and trying all the recipes. Nothing is fancy, ingredients are mostly fresh vegetables, but the combinations are unique and interesting. Chapters have recipes included by course with a list of each recipe in the chapter at the beginning along with its page number: a favorite feature of mine in cookbooks.

This is a nice cookbook, I can recognize that--decent photographs, decent recipes, etc. But very little really appealed to me personally, and there are a number of ingredients that seem like they'd be difficult to find (lentil sprouts? I've never seen these in my supermarket) and a number of recipes that seem a bit too involved for my lifestyle. There are a few things that I'm interested in trying, only similar recipes exist in other cookbooks that excite me far more. This one is just not quite a good fit for me, though with all the 5-star reviews, it very well may be for you!

I've been a fan of Britton's blog for ages, admiring the deep dive into the nutrition of her ingredients beyond the overly simplistic fat, carbs, and calories. Her recipes are also GOOD. Like delicious and could convince people to eat more nutritious food kind of good. They're plant-based and focus on using whole foods ingredients, so there's little by way of animal by products here other than the occasional egg or bit of butter. But nothing feels dogmatic or preachy. Instead, Britton offers recipes with lots of fruit, veggies, legumes, and whole grains that are pleasurable to eat.

Great book — from the woman who does the New Roots blog. 100% vegetarian. She is mainly cooking with whole foods (spices, produce, grains). In a couple of places, I didn’t think the preparation instructions were quite specific enough. But lots of great recipes in here which I sure haven’t seen elsewhere.

Some of the recipes in here are interesting, and I've made a couple so far--I loved the roasted radishes and avocado! However, much of them aren't really to my taste. I'll also need to make substitutions for nearly everything, as I am not going to use coconut oil. I'll use avocado oil instead.

I just went ahead and added this to my amazon cart as well. I can't wait to make everything in here. I'm pretty excited that there's so many vegan options in here as well because many of my friends are vegan or vegetarian.

I quite enjoyed this book. The recipes are quick, and fit into weekly planning well, with her “rollover” tips. I borrowed this from the library, but there’s enough there to earn a spot on my bookshelf.

This is the second Sarah Britton book I've picked up really cheap in charity. I can't resist a plant based book that's healthy and fresh . This is lovely to browse through , soups, salads, spring time meals. It's got a more america clean feel than danish vibe of her first book.

some great ideas that I will need to try for sure. Some are a repeat of what I have seen in other books with only a small modification of using a different green.

Tried and copied many recipes from this book; healthy; many vegetarian/vegan options; everyday ingredients. Actually checked out the book-book, not the ebook.
