We’ve been successful with books on gluten-free cooking, vegetarian and vegan cooking, paleo, raw foods, and more. Our list includes French cooking, Swedish cooking, Austrian and German cooking, Cajun cooking, as well as books on jerky, canning and preserving, peanut butter, meatballs, oil and vinegar, bone broth, and more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.
I have the newer version that is bound like a traditional book.
I find the recipes overall pretty good and most are things that my family will eat. Some are a bit involved, and as I am a "dump it and leave it" type of slow cooker user, many are a bit to fussy for me.
I am impressed with the desserts, the mixes and the dips. Love those.
I gave it three stars due to two things-
-Many of the recipes are just versions of the same thing. It would have been better to simply list the ways to change the basic recipe instead of filling out extra pages to make it look as if one is getting more than one is.
-I am VERY upset that one of the items shown on the cover is NOT in the book. I was particularly interested in the chocolate whipped dessert (with a strawberry on top). It looked like just what my family would love to eat for a dessert on a hot evening. I couldn't wait to make it first; but, alas, no recipe to be found. Shame on the publisher for putting a photo of a recipe that isn't in the book. Shame!
Make your favorite meals or appetizers in a slow cooker, with time to get ready for your guests. Or put your ingredients in and sit down and chill before your crowd arrives. This is a great book, and as usual Phyllis Good had not the mark!
Love the three-ring binder physical format of the book! Just take out the page you need instead of having to deal with an unwieldy bound book on the counter when you're cooking. While not every recipe has a photo, most do, and each includes helpful tips such as what sides to serve with it or another meal you can make with the leftovers.
