Kara flees a rogue pack to save her own life, but knows she has to go back to save her brother, Nick. Leaving him behind forever, in the evil alpha's clutches, isn't an option. When the rogue wolves chase her, though, Kara faces a lonely death in the woods -- until an enormous bear shifter races in to save her. Owen fights his ghosts every night in his dreams, but he's ready to fight the evil alpha and his pack every day if it means protecting Kara. When Kara's brother needs rescuing, Owen would go against the bears and the rest of the city to give Kara some peace of mind. But when the rogue pack demands a trade that endangers Kara, Nick, and most of the bears, how far will Kara go to save her brother? And how much will Owen sacrifice to protect her?
There is something about the overall story arch that is enjoyable, but I am afraid it is overshadowed by poor writing. Whether it is the fault of the author, or her editor(s), there are way too many missed words (He was in hurry), incorrect plot details (characters were on the bed, and then on the next page they sat down on the bed), poorly thought out timelines (five lines of conversation took two hours), and extremely predictable plot points (no spoilers here).
At this point I am finishing the series, because of my OCD, and not because I actually want to subject myself to anymore of this.
I am so happy for Owen. He was there for all the bears and I'm excited that he got to find his mate. His protectiveness of her was so beautiful and I hope they end up with little cubs before the series ends just to let something great happen in the midst of all the BadCreek mess. I continue to be amazed at all the stuff I am learning from the City Shifter series.
Really emotional book. Kara and Owen’s story has so much happiness, tragedy, and hope. It really will draw you in and take you on a roller coaster of emotion.
As an author as well as a reader, I recognized how much research went into this book and I appreciate the intensity of that work and how it formed this book.
I gave it 4 instead of the usual 5 fort his author because some times I felt like I didn't get to know the characters as much as I would have liked. There were some unresolved secrets between the mates that I would have liked to see come into the open. Otherwise, great book. Great story. Great continuation of the series plot.
This series and the connected City Shifters:the Pride Series are awesome. I cannot express enough how much I enjoy these books. The depth and emotion that the author can create in an insta-love scenario is amazing to me. I highly recommend this series and the connected Pride Series to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance books with a ton of heat and danger and emotion. However, for the best experience possible, I recommend that these books be read in order of publication so the series of events flow the way they are supposed to.
Remember Nick? The good guy in the Bad Creek pack? This beta has managed to help the mates of the Lions and the Bears, so it's natural that when his sister needs help the City Shifters rally around her. Kara only wants to free Nick. She is human and has no idea that Owen is her mate and will literally die to give her her heart's desire. Only trouble is Kaiser is not about to let Owen die quite that easily.
This was a rough one. I am sick of the rogue alpha and it's time for him to go. He has a genie working for him, oh boy this was crazy good. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I thought about Nick being a mate for Lacey, I don't know why but it crossed my mind a couple of times reading this book. Loved them all.
A exciting series to please the shifter romance fan . There's a lot of action, drama, an hot shifter romance to keep you entertained until the last page an you wish their was more . 18+
