THE CLIFFHANGER!! OMG!

I don't know why it took me so long to get to the last 3 chapters in this volume, probably because I don't wanna read it all too fast so I have to wait...that's probably it.

I really loved the ending of this volume and I really wanna jump into volume 8 straight away tbh!

On her 16th birthday, orphan Himari Momochi inherits the ancestral estate she’s never seen. Momochi House exists on the barrier between the human and spiritual realms, and Himari is meant to act as guardian between the two worlds. But on the day she moves in, she finds three handsome squatters already living in the house, and one seems to have already taken over her role!

Oh the art, the art! The battle pages are too gorgeous... but there are many frames that make this art dynamic! I really love that the mangaka puts so much effort in each and every frame... to showcase emotion, establish circumstances and understand relationships. And she puts just as much effort in crafting a lush and rich story too! This is also one of my favorite covers so far, gorgeous!!

The plot finally goes there... and the wait has NOT been disappointing... And our mangaka doesn't devote half efforts to revealing... how Aoi became trapped in Momochi House!! I know this is one aspect of the main story arc that every reader has been waiting for and we get an unexpected mirror to Aoi. We get a betrayal and Aoi seems to finally reach a conclusion about Himari. All because of this major event!!

I'm always fascinated by the Nue, especially when we get glimpses of what he feels and thinks... We tend to think of Aoi as being the same as the Nue but Himari is always reminding us they started as separate beings... And this idea and Aoi's worries finally come to a head due to this villain and how personal Aoi's story is with him. This authenticity is so powerful!! You can see why the previous volume was so important!

I am always startled when a story success for Himari and Aoi actually ratchets up the tension in the story instead of settling it!! I'm SOOOOO glad I had the next volume and could simply jump into it! The cliffhanger ending is quite a doozy but you won't regret getting to this point... we knew this was coming and now the time is here.

Thankfully for me, we continue to get more depth within the story in this volume. I am actually getting invested in the story and caring about the characters now. This volume focused a lot on Aoi, and it helped me like him a little better. I'm interested to see how the next volume plays out.

The art is absolutely beautiful. The story, at this time, I can't see how there are 16 volumes. It seems to be a little siloed at this point. The different events are building on top of each other as much as I would have thought. I think that the cliff hanger was very interesting.

With the legend of the ghost of Kagome Park, this book opens the door (ha!) into the story of Aoi's past, and how he came to be in the Momochi House. Himari's classmates want to go check out Kagome Park and see if they find the ghost there, and they get a scare but not exactly proof for the legend. However, Himari is then followed by the ghost as a means to get into the house, and Aoi's past comes rushing back to him. The story opens up the world of the series a bit more, as now we also get to see the human side of the supernatural world, and another threat that arises from it. Aoi himself has been questioning the divide between himself and the Nue, and in the light of Yukari's backstory about transformation from human to ayakashi, he wonders what he himself is. He gets his answer in this book, but it comes at the price of a choice. There is an absolute OMG of a cliffhanger, so I am quite excited to find out what this means for the main storyline going forward.

I wasn’t expecting for this story to have so much depth, we are following a love story while getting revelations of Aoi’s past and following Himari’s search to find a way to free Aoi from the Momochi curse.

I love the gloomy mysterious vibe the story has and while showing the amazing fantasy inspired in Japanese folklore!

The way this volume left off I can wait for the next one.

I loved that Aoi's backstory was revealed. I thought this book was much more emotional and impactful than the other books in this series. It was also much darker and I can finally understand what all the other books have been leading up to. Overall, an entertaining and interesting book that I would recommend.

I’m finally back to reading!

This volume was a little lack luster for me, I feel like it just was a meh explanation to some plot holes and such. I’m glad the characters got some more depth but the progression of this arc is just a bit odd to me.

Re-Read Review (February 19th, 2023):

It came to my attention this time around how strong Aoi and Nanamori are as foils. Shouoto is able to bring their storyline to a head after building it up perfectly in this voulme (not to mention the teases in the past couple). Younger me may have thought the villain defeat was too quick, but with its ending, I thought it was just right this time around. Aoi was able to prove he won't bow to anyone's control. With the current storyline, though, will it come as a cost?

Original Rating: Four Stars

Again, the stakes for our heroes are raised as the Kagome Park Ghost mentioned in the last volume comes back in full force, being the main focus of The Demon Prince of Momochi House's 7th offering. We learn more secrets about Aoi's past, which were fairly interesting, with an added villain that got defeated too easily in my eyes.

Despite that (along with the volume still not giving me as much excitement compared to some of the earlier ones), I still enjoy this series quite a lot (the art will forever be gorgeous), and the cliffhanger ending makes me more curious once again to continue on. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to go through a longer wait than I have in the past with this series, considering I'm all caught up now.

This volume was hugely interesting, what with the mystery of the Kagome Park Ghost explained, and a very intense battle began and concluded. Honestly, this series keeps getting better and better. I feel like it's gradually getting creepier, too, which was something I was hoping for when I first picked up the series. And as always, I can't stop raving about the art! Shouoto is so damn skillful with the textures she uses, and her action panels are getting more and more interesting. I'm hooked on "The Demon Prince of Momochi House", and can't wait for the next volume!

P.S. I really, really hope Shouoto and her publishing team release an art book of all her covers and splash pages- I'd kill to see them enlarged, and in full colour!

I was able to check out volumes 6-10 from my local Joint-Use library before the new Year of 2019. I was looking forward to continuing with this series. The cover of volume 7 was elegant, beautiful, and captivating to look at; especially since it was Aoi in his Nue form. I was excited to read this volume to continue on reading. As always, I love the couple pages of full color at the beginning. It was very climatic and I was finally able to learn why Aoi ended up at the Momochi House alone and his sad past. I was confused and kind of still am of what Aoi thought that he had lost, which is why he was in that state since volume 6 (I thinking he was stuck in a slump or something). Takamura Nachi instantly came and went within like two volumes, a speedy character introduction and then reveals all the answers of the past. I felt bad about Nachi's past, but he's going to have to go through punishment for doing wrong and his abuse of power. I didn't expect these last two volumes to progress this quickly, but I am nearing the end of this series though. I was happy that Aoi and Himari were able to finally kiss, although their emotions are all over the place right now. Also, I don't have a clue on how Aoi truly feels as I did think how I thought he felt the previous volumes before. When the end of the book approached, I expected a love confession from Aoi. But, I end up sad and shocked that it has reached the point that Aoi in Nue form is no longer able to transform back to his old self (him being just Aoi form). I am officially excited to move on and read the next volume of this series. Things are starting to get even more interesting and complicated. I'm just hoping that Aoi soon gets to be able to freely be happy himself and everyone else happy as well. I am still wondering about what actually happened to his family and the other parts of his past. I love that some of the pages in the back of the book had a Momochi House Illustration Gallery, all the illustrations were beautiful that I'd want them in poster form.

In Volume 7 of The Demon Prince of Momochi House, Himari and her school friends investigate a mysterious park ghost that is said to kidnap children. Also, Himari and the other residents of Momochi House learn more about Himari's teacher Mr. Nachi and why he knows about Aoi.

I enjoyed learning more about Mr. Nachi and Aoi in this volume, though I was disappointed with the conclusion. I also feel a little more time could have been spent giving more details behind Mr. Nachi's mysterious past. But overall, I enjoyed this volume.

Well this volume definitely had the most action for sure I really enjoyed the art that was used for that action. There are some triggering items such as children being taken by adults etc. But overall still an amazing series however the ending of this volume really finished strangely but enough intrigued me to continue on. Also the romance between the leading characters is cute and adorable though at times can be a tad annoying to an adult reader such as myself but perfect for middle grade. Because of these points I have to give this volume a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Mr. Nashi is a human who is disguised as a teacher, but it turns out he is a human known as an oger. Mr. Nashi was the human that basically forced Aoi Nanamori into Momochi House and he wanted his power of the Nue after Aoi grew up and got stronger. He wants him as his Shikigami...

Himari is now under a current spell that Aoi actually really quickly broke with a simple kiss. Himari was in a trance like state and she almost completely handed over Aoi to Mr. Nashi, but thanks to Aoi's kiss he saved her.

Aoi is now stuck in the form of the Nue... What will happen now..?

Another volume, another person trying to break into the Momochi House. But this time for some pretty interesting reasons. I'm glad we are finally getting a bit of Aoi's backstory and I need MORE. Even while we tackle sporadic dark themes, this series stays cute, adorable, and continues to produce the warm and fuzzies. I love seeing Himari and Aoi's interactions. Especially now given the shift in their relationship. Here's to finding out more about Aoi's past and if he can ever break free of Momochi House.

เนื้อเรื่องเริ่มเข้มข้นขึ้นแล้ว มีเฉลยชีวิตในอดีตของทั้งอาโออิและฮิมาริ ทั้งคู่มีความเชื่อมโยงกันแบบงงๆ เป็นเหมือนโชคชะตาที่ถูกจัดฉากขึ้น เนื้อเรื่องถูกชี้นำไปทางอาโออิเป็นหลักเลย นางเอกเหมือนเป็นตัวประกอบและความรักระหว่างทั้งสองก็งอกงามขึ้นในเล่ม 9 -10 นี้ แต่ก็ไม่ได้ทำให้อินขึ้นเลย อาจารย์โชโอะโตะเหมือนถนัดวาดผู้ชายมากกว่าและยังชูความงดงามของตัวละครชายได้ดีกว่าแบบจงใจ เราเองก็ไม่อาจหลุดโฟกัสจากหนุ่มๆ บ้านโมโมจิได้เลย ขนาดปีศาจจิ้งจอกเด็กยังน่ารักกว่านางเอก 😓

I'm enjoying this series. We finally get some answers on how Aoi ended up at the Momochi house when he was a child. I also really enjoy the romance between Aoi and Himari. It's cute.

But at the same time, THAT ENDING?!?! How can you end it at.Noooooo, I like Aoi. The fact that he can't transform back to Aoi from Nue, his Ayakashi form, scares me. This better not be permanent. Anyways, next volume here I come.

I cannot get enough of the chapter title art in this series. This is an intense volume. The relationship between a common ghost story and Aoi’s ascension to Omamori is a surprise. It seems like every new volume is my favorite of the series. I still find the art uneven. There is a pivotal battle towards the end and the limitations of the art are apparent. It looks like a voguing battle (strike a pose). But boy, is that a way to break a spell!

4.5 stars. Wow, this series keeps getting better and better! We learn Aoi's story about his past and how he ended up as the Nue in Momochi House. I'm loving the forbidden romance between Aoi/Nue and Himori, and I'm so curious to see how it turns out!! This series is fascinating because it has a lot of Japanese mythology and information about common beliefs, nursery rhymes, and legends.
