What happens when a superhero can beat the snot out of every villain with just one punch? Can he find an opponent to give his life meaning, or is he doomed to a life of superpowered boredom?
Nothing about Saitama passes the eyeball test when it comes to superheroes, from his lifeless expression to his bald head to his unimpressive physique. However, this average-looking guy has a not-so-average problem—he just can’t seem to find an opponent strong enough to take on!
The human monster and hero hunter Garo cranks up the intensity of his destruction. As the damage increases, throwing the hero world into turmoil, Saitama decides it’s the perfect time to develop an interest in martial arts and sneaks into a combat tournament. Meanwhile, the Class-S hero Metal Bat takes an assignment guarding a Hero Association executive and his son, and it isn’t long before trouble appears!
Manga creator ONE first created One-Punch Man as a web comic, where it quickly went viral, garnering over 10,000,000 hits! Along with One-Punch Man, ONE also writes and draws another series called Mob Psycho 100.
In which we get to really really see Metal Bat in action as he takes on a number of centipede(!) themed monsters! The heroes are being thinned out, monsters are increasing, Hero-Hunter stalking and Saitama, the One-Punch Man? Well... he's taking and sharing bananas with the fallen to get intel on the Hero-Hunter. More original and often delightfully dead-pan adolescent humour form this interesting series. Another 7 out of 12, Three Star jaunt. 2023 read
“I will NOT let you get away with wasting Master’s precious time he uses for doing nothing”. 👿 - Genos, best pupil in the history of both humankind and cyborgkind, being dead serious, 20XX.
This series is officially the most hilarious thing I’ve ever read. LOVE
While Metal Bat has tons of Spirit, the real joy in this volume is in the extras. Child Emperor's little number experiment was hilarious but so was the gaming tournament.
Seriously, I'm having a great time with this series. :) Always great for a smile. :)
I like that we’re getting a villain that spans multiple volumes and that he seems to be the biggest foe the heroes have faced so far, but I’m not the hugest fan of Saitama going on a silly side quest in the middle of this villain attacking heroes.
This volume had some pretty great humor, especially at the start. The lighthearted humor is a huge reason why I like this series.
I am a little annoyed that this volume has a lot of fan service. Tornado and Blizzard aren’t in the main storyline (only the bonus stories) yet they’re constantly used as filler art in between chapters and they’re extremely over-sexualized in those drawings. The main storyline in this volume doesn’t involve many women (if any), so randomly including sexualized versions of two female characters in between chapters for no reason was really gross.
Saitama is so sweet visiting the people whom Garo injured like Mumen Rider. Mumen is a good person, too!! He gave banana to him but he still eat them, LOL Saitama...
Saitama is just hilarious. He gave Tank Top a banana so he can ask more about Garo. Intelligent? LOLL!!
Also, that kid is so clueless that he is helping to get those hunters beaten down.
He also give Charanko a banana. HAHAHAH. He is just the most adorable character ever!!!!
LOL Saitama is soooo cute at the end of Chapter 49 holding that ticket for the Mixed Martial Arts Tournament. LOL SO CUTE!!!!!!!!
Garo has a loose screw for sure. Hate him, though he has soft spot for kids. He has a tiny bit of humanity, though.
LOLLL so cute Saitama is buying a wig. My gosh if he is a real person, I would really save money to meet him. LOL so adorable!!!
LOLL!! Genos really made an effort to call Dr. Kuseno to implant synthetic hair for Saitama because he thought he is having a crisi for buying a wig. Saitama's face though. LOL. So cute this two.
Yayyy Saitama is joining the tournament now with that cutie wig, lol.
This monster showing up the time of Saitama's fight is annoying, also. Genos must be busy fighting them and he can't cheer for his sensei.
Oh so Terrible Tornado Daze when she's bored. LOL. How useful! How exciting. LOLLL...
Awwww Saitama is so cuteeeee...!!!!!!!! He's so cute walking and bumping into monster and so cute also when he lay down on the sloping ground with grass to relax. LOL I love him!!!
Genos is just an amazing disciple. He thinks a lot for his sensei and help him with everything. I love his loyalty.
Saitama is so sweet to give his costume to the person who got his clothes stolen. Awwwww.. He is the sweetest of all.
That costume contest though.... LOL I laugh when Saitama showed his special move which he can move his ears. WTH! Hilarious!!!
OMG They fucking degrade Saitama! What an asshole they don't know his story!!
See you fucking bastards. He fucking defeated that turtle with One Fucking Punch!!!
Saitama really attracts people when they get to know him. He is the humblest man of all.
WORDS OF WISDOM: "Master's strength is not immediately apparent...but those who encounter it have no doubt. Master is trying to teach me to focus on skill rather than appearance. I must make note of that..." -Genos, One Punch Man
My least favorite One-Punch Man volumes are the ones with the least Saitama action. The tenth installment of the series is just like that. It treads on relatively quieter grounds which will definitely become full-blown action in the chapters to follow so you have to be a bit patient here.
The main villain Garo of this arc is interesting, and I could wait to get his ass whipped and blown by Saitama. This tells me that something satisfying is in store for us One-Punch Man readers in the upcoming chapters.
Oh yeah, that Armoured Assistant Manager is radical!
My goodness, I finished ten volumes in one night! That means 55 tankobons (i.e. books) in one sitting! And the manga series is still ongoing too. It's that addicting!
Cada vez vemos más cositas de Garou, e infunda más terror conforme pasan los tomos. También me gustó ver a bate metálico en acción, y los extras me mataron de risa 😂
What I loved about this book: Metal Bat's fighting arc. Metal Bat. Tornado's omake. Tornado. Saitama trying to enter a competition with a fake identity and wig. Saitama. How genos gets angry when somebody tries to waste Sensei's "precious" time. Genos. and King. He has grown on me.
What I didn't like: That its overrrr! I want more! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
I still feel there is a very suspicious lack of female characters, but oh, well. Nobody's perfect
Garo is still hunting heroes, but an attack on an exec makes the Hero Association assign hero bodyguards to its members.Meanwhile, Saitama joins a martial arts contest to learn martial arts. The usual type of story one expects from this series. However, the story only takes up half the book with assorted bonus mangas filling up the second half.
Saitama's strength is immeasurable, that's no surprise...
Strength and a good heart, our Saitama is a one-of-a-kind hero... and usually have been bored since the appearance of the "alien invasion"; eagerly waiting for a fight between Saitama and the "hero hunter", although it won't be much of a scenario...
But the "shopping for party" scene was really good, someone really can't remember who hit him...!
Tornado, as in the anime adaptation, is cute as a button, and she really tries to reach the roof as far as possible, literally speaking...
Definitely the weakest volume so far, but still a stellar run. This one sort of felt all over the place with almost half of the volume being bonus inconsequential chapters. Saitama does make an appearance (he should be in every volume after all, right?) but it is kept to a minimum and essentially teases us about his desire to fight Garou and to learn martial arts.
This doesn't mean that it didn't have any great moments though. I had fun with this, and I know that things are going to explode pretty soon.
While this issue wasn't as bloody as the previous one, the story continues to escalate as Garo continues his attacks on heroes, who are becoming scarce as monsters also continue to attack cities. Metal Bat's storyline was pretty damn awesome! I loved seeing him in action. The bonus mangas were also entertaining as always. The ridiculousness of the hero names and their special moves continues to make me laugh. I'm really looking forward to when Garo and Saitama REALLY face off.
Every time I look at the author page for this series, I lament that I didn't buy Eyeshield 21 years ago and its not on kindle. Random thought.
This felt less Saitama and story and more a collection of shorts for the other heroes. The wig makes me laugh because it looks awful compared to the wolf mask. King beating the Blizzard squad single handedly in gaming was entertaining. I had mixed feelings on the strength test mask. Still a fun beat 'em up. Garo getting knocked out cold was a highlight.

Aaah. kok bersambung sih? Lagi seru-serunya. Volume ini terlalu banyak cerita tambahannya. 3 chapter. Lucu sih, tapi cerita utamanya jadi lebih dikit 😭
Excellent story. The One Punch man has collected a number of friends despite his best attempts to not have friends. There was some good storytelling in this volume.
Haha, this manga gets better every time, though I have to say the Garo-less parts were the best. I am just getting annoyed with this guy.
Normally boss monsters get hit, killed, and their arc ends, pretty fast. However this time we are still with Garo and I think the next volume will also be about him. Meh. We do learn a bit more about him, but frankly I just couldn't care about him at all. I did have a laugh when he encountered Saitama, I do hope that means we will have a grand battle that, in Saitama One Punch fashion, will end quickly. Then again, I can see it happen that he again doesn't get the credit. Still I hope that this Garo arc stuff will be over soon, I can't wait.
There are also a couple of new monsters, we have a fun competition (and what Saitama did there was really kind and friendly of him), Saitama also tries to get into a martial arts competition (did he really think that wig was all he needed *snorts*), and I also had a laugh at that competition that Miss Blizzard set up. She didn't expect that one, but when I saw it, I just laughed so hard. Oh my. :P I also loved seeing the day in Miss Tornado's life. Sure, she is not entirely my favourite character (she is just so tsundere), but it was fun to see her being bored and just go around killing monsters, but finding none that were alive (good job a certain other character). I loved the ending to that story.
There was one part I found weird, when Child Emperor made that scanner and used it to scan heroes, eventually he came to Saitama and couldn't read him. He said Saitama was a weakling, however, a few seconds after that he tried to read King, and he couldn't read him, but he immediately thought that was because King was so awesome. What? Why would you dismiss one hero for another one? Then again, it is still a running gag that no one knows how much power Saitama has, and that he always gets dissed about it. I am just not sure how much I like it these days. We are now in volume 10, and the joke is definitely getting old for me. I do hope that sometime soon they will quit with that and just acknowledge Saitama for the awesomeness he is. And with that I mean everyone. The people Saitama saves, the heroes, the organisation. Everyone. He just does so much good in the world but never hears a peep from anyone but Genos. :|
The art, and the details, seem to get better and better with each passing volume.
I can't wait for the next volume to come out. Hopefully it concludes this Garo arc and we get a new fun arc to enjoy. Plus I hope we see Puri Puri Prisoner again. He is one of my favourites in the series.
I wanted to give this a three because of the ugly creatures (there’s always ugly creatures)and there wasn’t as much Saitama in this one . But I gave it a four because of Metal Bat and his awesome action scenes . I like, love him! lol He’s one of my faves now .
This manga gave more room for the side characters to show their stuff, and I loved it . Sometimes authors don’t really give their side characters as much attention, they actually fail at times, but ONE does a great job of introducing new heroes one by one or in groups and lets them show off their moves. This does well to expand the story, giving room for more plots as well as a little insight into the heroes of the Hero Association.
This was more of a transitioning manga, so it wasn’t as awesome and intense as the last one. Well, there was some intense parts and a good amount of action, it just didn’t have as much impact as the last manga did.
The ending extra mangas were a delight to read; they were so lighthearted and had just the right amount of seriousness and quips . ONE always seems to make me laugh with the jokes he throws in, but he always touches my heart with his lessons that he implements into his stories. So , I don’t know . Just writing this makes me want to give it a five . But the creatures/monsters are still gross. Haha As always , the artwork is just beautiful —really just some incredible artwork —some of the best I’ve seen.
And I can’t believe I wrote a review ! Whaaat?! Lol Guess I was in the mood ;)
I will not let you get away with wasting master's precious time which he uses for doing nothing. Nothing's made me laugh so much in a very long time, an extremely relatable quote, as spoken by Genos. Just when I thought there'd be some shred of continuity, the story presents its readers with even more heroes and villains, and for the first time, a hero hunter, who is a villain and a monster, I suppose, but not an actual monster. Saitama here decides to learn martial arts, or to compete in a tournament having to do with the technique. I don't see why he feels compelled to do this but it might be because he perhaps knows that he must make contact with his opponent in order to defeat him and Garo is apparently one quick and sleek dude.
I really enjoyed the second bonus manga in this volume where Saitama loses a fashion show and yet wins by showing everyone that what's on the outside does not really matter. Very cool way of showing how hard work and morals are more important than what you wear and that it is what's on the inside that makes you the person you turn out to be. The final bonus manga was all over the place and rather unenjoyable. Otherwise, there are some other familiar faces though their role isn't as large as I would have wished for it to be. Saitama himself doesn't make much of an appearance tbh and as I've mentioned in previous reviews, that is understandable as when a character is written to be physically impossible to take an L, there aren't many directions in which the story can go if it's just him. I really hate how the executives of the hero association are protected by heroes when they are practically useless.
