Love on the rocks. Family life not quite stable. Needed spice at your feet. Smart advise to utilize every tool to make the most of what life throws at you. This dystonian world has action, drama, romance, mm, mf, mmf, sci-fi and more. Rich read with depth and thought put forth.
There was a deep background between Jace and Roan. Their worlds come crashing down as life moves forward. But no fretting they meet again and not under the best of circumstances. Now, years later, Jace has a wife and a clan that he has responsibility for. Things did not go quite as expected. Jace loves his wife and the clan. He also still loves Roan.
Watching how thing unfold proves to more than a sad porn ménage that lacks substance. There was plenty of plot, emotions, and spice. I am working hard her not give away but to entice you. The read was more than I was expecting and kept me turning pages/tapping my screen. There was a second chance romance intertwined with a new romance. Things were not easy but the three of them put in the work to make things work.
I recommend this read for anyone looking for bit of a change up in their everyday sci-fi, romance, action filled, drama intense reading usual.

This book was an unexpected pleasure to read. I knew nothing about it and went into it blindly, thinking it would be more sci-fi than I would like, and that it wasn't in the romance genre. Boy was I wrong! I have to admit, I'm such a cover whore that I didn't even consider it, and judged the cover and title as a more military/sci-fi book.
There is a fantastic love triangle that was refreshing, open-minded and exciting. This complicated second-chance romance delivered all the feels you would want, as well as the more serious issues outside of the relationships ... the governtary (the melded group of government and military) that wanted to take control the rogue clans that wanted to live in freedom, rather than under the governtary's control. This was my first MM and for me and it was hot, emotional, and I couldn't put it down! I would recommend this read to my blog readers!

For the Clan was a bit of an experiment for me. I had yet to make it through an M/M romance novel, though that was because the few I've tried had been poorly written, not because of the orientation. But I finished this one! I will admit to being a little nervous, but I actually enjoyed it!
I think readers should go in knowing that, while the book is set in a dystopian world with magic (!!!), that was all secondary. Above all, this was a romance novel. Luckily, I like romances, and I liked reading an unusual one where the one character, Jace, is in love with his wife and a guy from his past. I also liked how it wasn't all jealousy and paranoia. The three main characters genuinely wanted to find a way to make things work.
This was definitely a book for adults. There were a number of sex scenes, and they were pretty graphic. They did fall prey to the Perfect Sex trope, where everyone is happy and gets off at the same time. Some of the word choice also made me giggle-cringe a bit!
I do feel like the book could have been improved in a few ways. For a start, I didn't really understand what was going on outside of the romance. The world was confusing, and I couldn't help getting hung up on missing details. Was the water contaminated? How did they get clean water for drinking? Those kinds of things. There was so much potential for a really cool storyline involving strategy, survival and evolved humans with magic. (GUYS. Superpowers thanks to a chemical spill. HOW COOL IS THAT?) It did eventually kick in towards the end, but about half of the book was just this fantasy relationship.
Overall, this was an interesting book to read and encouraged me to reconsider my own opinions of different issues, as well as introducing me to a few new ideas in romance literature. If you're looking for a quick M/M romance, give this one a try!

It's live! 5/25/2016
This book is so good!
It is sci-fi paranormal dystopian mmf romance. It may sound complicated but it's not. The writing is skillful and professional - flawless.
If I remember correctly, I've only read one other mmf romance. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this one. However, since I am a big fan of both dystopian plots and mm romance plots, I thought I'd give it a go.
I am so glad I read this! I can't stress enough how well this story is written.
The story takes place in a dystopian world where wars over water rights have devastated civilization. A heavily regimented metropolis arose from the devastation. Ruled by the "governtary", a militaristic governing body, the metropolis is not the ideal place for everyone. There are rogue factions who oppose it. There are also small, disparate clans who choose to do without the luxuries of modern convenience and live on what the land can provide.
It is in one of these clans where we meet our MCs. At first, two boys, in love. Then viciously torn apart because of their differences.
During the devastating wars, chemicals and bio-weapons were dropped on the defenseless population. This resulted in future generations born with DNA modifications. The "Vens", as they are called, are humans who posses magical powers.
Because Roan is a little more than human, he has magical powers that the governtary covets. They round up any Vens they can find and use them as military weapons. Roan is captured and slipped into their program.
Heartbroken and powerless to stop the capture of his best friend and love, Jace has no choice but to live the next 15 years without him.
Roan has no choice but to endure the torture and humiliation of becoming both a lab rat and a weapon.
I don't want to give anything away in my review. But I think I can safely say that they meet up again many years later. We wouldn't have much of a story otherwise right? Skipping details so you can enjoy them when you read this incredible book, I am just going to say that they have obviously both changed since the last time they were together. Except for one important thing that stayed the same.
Oh, if it were only that easy. But it can't be. Jace has assumed responsibilities as head of his clan. He has also assumed responsibility and fallen in love with...his wife.
His beautiful, wonderful, incredible, understanding wife.
Jace and Roan are both torn, fighting the thoughts of what could have been.
I want to tell you so much more about this story. But, at this point, I really am worried about spoiling it for you. I want every one to read this one. It's simply beautiful. It has everything. Everything put together expertly. Don't worry about this being a cheap erotica mmf. (although, those have their place) This one couldn't be further from that. We certainly have a few hot as hell sex scenes, but they are precisely there to enhance and advance the plot.
If you like dystopians, if you like action plots, if you like romance, if you like paranormal, read it, read it, read it. It's great!

Except for one important thing that stayed the same.
I don't want to lose this chance. Fifteen years. Fifteen long years of if-onlys, what-ifs, and why-couldn'ts.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review
“For the Clan” wasn’t my first book by this author, but it was the first MMF book I’ve ever consciously picked up. Not so long ago, I wouldn’t have given it a second glance, simply because of the relationship dynamic. But then I decided to give every book with an interesting blurb a try, no matter the pairing. And I’m so glad I did, because I absolutely loved this book.
Strangely enough, the first word that comes to my mind when I think about this story is “beautiful”. Something about it just made me feel really happy, even though a lot of horrible things happen and life definitely isn’t easy for our protagonists. I think it might be because of the wonderful love story we get to witness. Roan’s situation seems so bleak and utterly hopeless and it was so amazing to watch how love gave him hope again. I loved all three MCs and their dynamic. There was no bitterness or jealousy, even if it wasn’t always easy. They’re strong with and for each other, but they can also be weak and know that the other one will catch them.
The book is incredibly well written. This is actually my fourth book by Archer Kay Leah, but while the three other books I read were something between “okay” and “good, but not great”, this was a masterpiece. It was easy to fall into the world the author created and get lost in it and in the feelings of the MCs. The descriptions are all so vivid and the landscape felt very alive.
But there’s more to this book than just a wonderful love story and some pretty hot sex scenes. The world building was really well done too. There’s an explanation for everything, without ever giving an “info dump” feel. It was woven perfectly into the plot, just like how great world building is done.
There’s a lot of action and fighting going on. I was breathlessly anticipating what would happen next. The plot was very well thought out and had real depth.
If you like dystopian futures with brave heroes in a wonderful relationship and aren’t easily triggered by violence and horrible background stories, then you should read this book. You won’t regret it.
The cover by Natasha Snow is perfect for the story. It’s dark and violent, but also hauntingly beautiful.

I have to admit this isn't my usual sort of read but I picked it for the cover...yeah sorry...Im that person! Im really glad I gave in to my love for the cover though, because the story was fantastic. As I say it really isn't my usual read, but there was just something about it that kept me interested. It was well written, well thought out and I loved the relationships between the characters. My only slight niggle was everything seemed....to easy between the couples. But that did't take away from my enjoyment. I think any one would love this book :)

This is my first read from Archer Kay Leah so i had no expectations going in. I enjoy a wide range of reads and sometimes its great to step away and try something different and i'm glad i took a chance on this book.
For The Clan is a sci-fi paranormal dystopia mmf romance. But please don't just focus on the mmf romance part as this read is much more. The book does focus a lot on the sci-fi and paranormal side and the love story is just an added bonus. We start the book with Jace and Roan as 16 year old boys civilization has been left devastated by wars over water rights the "Governtary" are a military governing power but aside from them we get factions and clans trying to live and survive off the land and keep themselves out of the grasps of the Governtary. During these wars chemicals were fired upon populations resulting in some humans being born different in that they have magical powers these people are known as "Vens" even though the only difference is there powers but this leads to them becoming targets, the goventary decide they can be used as powerful weapons to control the clans and fractions and set out to collect, imprison and control as many Vens as they can.
Jace and Roan are living in one of these clans with there relationship blossoming into more than just friendship with stolen moments together falling in love, but Roan is a Ven and its on one of these days when there together alone that the Goventary come and rips their world apart taking Roan and placing him in their program.
Jace is just a kid and is powerless to stop this happening loosing his best friend and love he thinks Roan is lost or dead to the Goventary and has to live his life with a piece of his heart missing.
Roan life is taken from him in that he becomes a lab rat with the Goventary experimenting and torturing him and using his powers to destroy want they want over the next 15 years. That is until the day Roan escape's and finds himself captured again but his world is thrown on its axis when he is brought before the Clan leader... Jace!!
Now i really don't want to give much more away and believe me there is more that happens. I will say this as its in the blurb Jace is now married and his wife is a beautiful, wonderful understanding wife and this leads to a beautiful story of the three of them coming together with love and understanding, but the threat is always there with the Goventary and they are not just going to leave there prized possession in Roan.
The writing in this book flowed it isn't just some erotic mmf read even though it works where placed within the story and gives us more. If you enjoy Dystopia/paranormal and don't mind the added bonus of a romance then i would recommend this read.

REVIEW: For The Clan is the first book I read by Archer Kay Leah and it certainly will not be the last. This is a Dystopia Sci Fi with a hint of Fantasy in the mix. The story starts by introducing us to Roan and Jace while traveling through the backdrop of Old London, Canada. A place that has been devastated by the war between the governtary and rogue soldiers.
For The Clan follows the plot of a devastated Canada – devastated by an economical apocalypse that it has made it impossible to survive as an Desenfranchised. A place where the government has divided society, in different ways, not only by taking away things such as water, but also by forcing them to form alliances and clans that without each other’s help would otherwise come to a demise.
This story explores the disadvantages of a great minority, the Ven, a new type of human with great ability and magic that can destroy life in a blink of an eye, and one that the governtary wants to have full control of.
The story is told from different point of view, making it very easily to get the different perspective and glimpses into each of these characters emotions and feelings. Each sees and experiences life differently but while they may all feel and love different the one thing that brings them all together is the intensity in which they love each other.
For The Clan is a great story that explores humanity need for survival, humanity needs for belonging and our desire to love one another. The author did a good job creating a setting that not only take these characters to their limit but it is done with caution so that the essence of their nature isn’t overshadow by their quality of life. The disadvantages that exist in that new world only brings them together and create stronger relationships. I really enjoyed the relationship between Jace & Roan – the simplicity yet complications of it made it that much real. Cayra was also another character that gave the story such a sensuality while also grounded and sealed Roan & Jace’s fate. I really enjoyed this nicely crafted love story.
Overall For The Clan has a lot going for it, from the war between the Ven, rogue soldiers and governtary, to the romance between Jace & Roan and Cayra, to the magic that at the end saves the clans this story has a bit of everything. At times the transition from one character’s POV to another is a bit undefined but that doesn’t take away the originality and nice world created by the author.

A place where the government has divided society, in different ways, not only by taking away things such as water, but also by forcing them to form alliances and clans that without each other’s help would otherwise come to a demise.
This story explores the disadvantages of a great minority, the Ven, a new type of human with great ability and magic that can destroy life in a blink of an eye, and one that the governtary wants to have full control of.
The story is told from different point of view, making it very easily to get the different perspective and glimpses into each of these characters emotions and feelings. Each sees and experiences life differently but while they may all feel and love different the one thing that brings them all together is the intensity in which they love each other.
For The Clan is a great story that explores humanity need for survival, humanity needs for belonging and our desire to love one another. The author did a good job creating a setting that not only take these characters to their limit but it is done with caution so that the essence of their nature isn’t overshadow by their quality of life. The disadvantages that exist in that new world only brings them together and create stronger relationships. I really enjoyed the relationship between Jace & Roan – the simplicity yet complications of it made it that much real. Cayra was also another character that gave the story such a sensuality while also grounded and sealed Roan & Jace’s fate. I really enjoyed this nicely crafted love story.
Overall For The Clan has a lot going for it, from the war between the Ven, rogue soldiers and governtary, to the romance between Jace & Roan and Cayra, to the magic that at the end saves the clans this story has a bit of everything. At times the transition from one character’s POV to another is a bit undefined but that doesn’t take away the originality and nice world created by the author.

I ADORE a really hot mmf. So while it’s dystopian sci-fi, which is definitely out of my wheelhouse, it’s also paranormal, steamy, and the dystopia part is actually explained in a way that doesn’t make me roll my eyes and think “is it only the YA crowd who gets into this, because it’s the same plot all over again, only marketed for adults.” FOR THE CLAN definitely doesn’t suffer from that same-old, same-old flavor.
While I love mmf, it’s also a delicate balance to write. You have to decide what kind of mmf it is. Is it mm + f? Is it mf + m? What are the dynamics between the three members of the trio? Are we talking about three different relationships? Two? A single unit (rare–polyamoury is rarely done well in romance) I’m not going to say that this book achieves a perfect balance — I won’t give it away, but there is a couple who is separated, then one member returns years later to find another established couple. Luckily, it makes from some delicious, conflicted relationships, and those are always yummy, especially if they are done well as they are here.
I adore the paranormal element in this series. It really softened the edges of the sci-fi dystopian feel, which might have turned me off a bit otherwise. Shove some paranormal elements in there, and I’m good to go. Not that they’re shoved here! The elements I loved so much were very organic and felt like they should be exactly the way they are in FOR THE CLAN.
The plot here is extremely compelling and interesting — it will carry you through the book all on its own. But the best part, for me, were the rich, highly-developed characters, and the WOW complicated relationship(s) between the leads.
My only complaint, and it is SO TINY AND PERSONAL IT’S NOT EVEN A COMPLAINT is that one of the leads is named Jace. It’s not that only the character in Shadowhunters (and the book series that shall not be named) carries that name and I’m some mad fangirl. It’s just that it’s so distinctive (for me), that once you’ve heard it in regard to one particular thing, it’s a little jarring to see it somewhere else. I find Jax (ala Sons of Anarchy) to be another example. Of course, people who love those WANT to honor the characters by using their name in their own… but it tends to stand out. I can’t tell you how many times I had to tie my hands together so I wouldn’t name a character Angelus. No, seriously. Other names that can never really be used tend to be very distinctive, like Buffy, Katniss, etc. So every time I saw “Jace,” it kind of threw me out a little bit.
Up until about halfway through, anyway. Once I knew the character better, I stopped seeing the letters of his name, and started seeing him.

As a teenager Roan was ripped from the arms of his lover and taken by the governtary as a slave. They turned Roan into a mean green fighting machine and with his powers it made Roan that much stronger and a better fighter. The governtary thought they had control over him but after fifteen years Roan has had enough of being their slave. So while out on a mission one Roan decides to take his chance at escaping. He doesn’t think he has a chance of escaping but I guess it was his lucky day.
Luckily for Roan his memory is not too bad after all these years after heading in the direction he thinks was the location of his clan he finally makes it back to his clan. To his surprise he runs into his lover from long ago but unfortunately Jace has moved on in his own way and now has a wife; the beautiful Cayra. Roan and Jace still care for each other just as much today as they did years ago but neither one of them is up for hurting Cayra especially since Jace also loves her very much.
Cayra is a very strong and caring person as she sees and knows how much they care for each other and tells them. She wants Jace to be happy and she will not be the one to stand in the way of him being happy. So in other words she gives them her consent for them to be together. Cayra has one gigantic heart. I mean how many other women would do what she has done for her mate? She is a very loving and caring person with a whole lot of love to give.
Some of the clan members are kind of skeptical of Roan with him being a Ven and also coming from the governtary they think he is a spy come to trap them. And after the governtary pays them a visit they don’t know which way to turn or who to trust. Who is Roan? Is he the same person that was taken by the governtary all those years ago? Or is he a spy for the governtary? Who side is Roan really on?
To find the answers pick up your copy today and find out. I recommend that you do. I think you will enjoy reading Roan and Jace’s story as much as I did. Although I will have to admit I was so sure when I first started reading For the Clan. It was kind of slow but it didn’t take it long to pick up pace and move right along quickly. Archer Kay Leah's For the Clan was a pretty good sic-fi, romantic novel. It takes place in the 22nd Century in Canada. The economy has collapsed, and the military has taken over the towns, though some people live in the woods. These people live in clans, and try to have as much freedom as they can away from the government. Roan Lee is a Ven, a new race of human whose DNA was altered during the Water Wars, raised by the Clans and now finds himself an instrument of the government. When he manages to escape their clutches, he reunites with his childhood love, and finds an opportunity for a second chance at love.
I really loved how the relationship between Roan and Jace Ama was very well-developed. As was the relationship between Jace and his wife Cayra. Leah did a great job making it difficult for the reader to decide which couple they'd want to end up together. Both pairs of relationships were very strong, and caring. I also thought the characters were complex and well-developed, and were interesting on their own. This was great as they each had their own POVs in the novel.
If there was one thing I didn't care for it was the two main storylines, romantic story and dystopian storyline, being told in the same book. Not to say I didn't enjoy both stories, but they each seemed too complex to get throughly told in just one book. If I had my way, the story would extend into another novel. However, I will say there's something great about an author telling a story in just one novel, and not dragging it out for the sake of making a series. Maybe I just really enjoyed these characters, but I would've liked to see this develop over a longer period of time (or pages). It's not a big thing, bust a want.
I recommend this novel to fans of paranormal, dystopian romances. This is a M/M romance, as well as a ménage, so if that's not your thing, then this book is probably not for you. However, I really enjoyed For the Clan, and found it hard to put down. As I said above, the characters were well-developed, the story was really well told, and the romance was believable. Wow- this book was absolutely epic! The worldbuilding was just amazing as we're taken to a dystopian society with 5 vastly different societies of people. There's the Governtary, Metropolis, Clans, Rogues and Vens. As a war over the water supply caused all water to become contaminated, the world broke up into different societies with different standards. The clans try to scrape by a living on the land and have to keep moving to evade the opressive Governtary and their war with the Rogues. The Vens are a mutated species, considered a genetic mishap with magical powers and are tortured into submission for the crooked Governtary. The way that the author was able to tie all these different societies together was just amazing and breathtaking to keep up with. In the mix is Roan, who was abducted from his clan 15 years ago and unwillingly used by the Governtary. He escapes only to be captured again and taken to the Leader who also happens to be his childhood love. However, he's married to Cayra and deeply in love with her. They learn to develop their feeling for each other and what follows is an actually quite touching love triangle story that really plucked at my heartstrings and was beautiful to be a part of. I was completely gripped by this action packed adventure and found myself quite unable to put the book down for the life of me! With incredibly complex characters, palpable emotions and tons of intrigue, danger, love and excitement, this book had a little bit of everything and was a true pleasure to read! If you like dystopian fiction or action packed love stories, this is a must read for you!

Cayra realises her husband is in love Roan, she encourages him to explore a relationship with Roan.
Jace had missed Roan, and had felt something missing from life.
They explore their feelings, and there feelings begin include Cayra.
It was wonderful to watch the working of their unit, and how strong that unit became.
Jace decides to be a different kind of leader than his father, and begins to feel more comfortable in his own skin
There is everything in this book fighting, love and the strength of the human spirit to survive and flourish.
I loved it.

Roan and Jace are only 16-years-old when For the Clan begins, and are already in as much of a relationship as they can have. That is caught short though when the government turns up, and captures Roan. What happens in the interim is given in some detail, but also left to the imagination. Roan has an opportunity to escape, and takes it. He goes as far as he can, but is found by some sentries of one of the Clans. He is taken into custody, where he finds out that it is Clan Teach and Jace is now Clan Leader. Oh, and he's also married!
This is a Dystopian M/M M/F/M Ménage Science Fiction book. In other words, this is a story that almost defies being put into specific genres. It is very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. There is action, suspense, betrayal and hope, as well as the relationship issues which actually don't take over. Everyone gets a say and things turn out a bit unexpectedly.
If you are looking for a read that is different from the rest, then I can definitely recommend this, and I hope to see more in this series.

If you are looking for a read that is different from the rest, then I can definitely recommend this, and I hope to see more in this series.

This is not your typical romance, but I think that's why I liked it so much. If you like Dystopian or SciFi, then this is a book you need to check out. From the very beginning it is non-stop and doesn't stop until the end. I do have to warn you that this is bisexual and M/M.
Roan was ripped away from Jace, the man he loved when they were only teenagers. From there, he became the property of the government, who used his magic/powers for their purposes. Desperate to escape their torture, he finally finds his opening and makes a run for it. And who does he find? Jace, his long lost love, who is now married.
Jace was surprised to see Roan again, someone he never stopped loving, but things have changed. He's married and is the clan leader now. Will he lose Roan a second time? Or is there a way to make it work?
I'm not going to sit here and tell you that this book is sweet and the HEA comes without a cost. This isn't that kind of story. They have to fight not only for their love, but for their very lives and the lives around them. The book is well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There were also a few times my gut twisted in anticipation, but it is a great read and I highly recommend you one click today! 4.5 stars.

This was an interesting paranormal dystopian menage story. I really liked all three characters because they were all so different from each other and thought about and approached each situation in a bit of a different way.
While I would call this a menage story, it sort of wasn't at the same time. We get to see the rekindling of the two men's relationship while one is married and we get to see little bits and pieces of the blossom of a new female/male relationship. However, I felt like we didn't really get to see that relationship grow the way I thought it should have for the way everyone came together so easily.
So while I thought the writing was quite good and the story was excellent, I really felt like the relationships, both new and old, were just too easy to come together in the end.
However, that being said, I do like drama and angst in my stories so this could totally be a personal thing.

This book is crazy from the start of it.
We are in the future where nothing is as it was. We learn Ven's are an accident which came from a toxic spill. So some humans have special abilities from no fault of their own. And the military trains them to be super soldiers to take out their own and rebels.
Roan who is a ven was taken from his clan at 16, he never got over his first love.
As years past Roan got tired of being military property. Roan escapes, only to run into his past again his first love Jace.
Jace who never quite got over Roan doesn't know what to think when he see's him.
Jace being a leader of his own clan now decides to take Roan in, the rest of the clan has doubts. However Cayra, Jace's wife is okay with it.
As time goes on Roan starts to feel for Jace again as if he's never stopped.
Can Roan and Jace figure things out with Cayra as well? Will they stop the military from destroying clans and taking Roan back with them?
I'm waiting for book # 2. I want to read more about these characters.

This is a great find, and a very interesting story, with fascinating characters. I found this book had many interesting surprises with military-action, sci-fi, roman.
These relationships showed caring and strong, love for each other. It’s explained how each was missing something in their lives and together made each other whole. Plus the reader gets to understand the characters POVs.

Honestly didn't really like this book. Thought the characters were flat, writing cliche, and that the divide between erotic romance and military sci fi wasn't straddled well. For more thoughts, check out my blog review here.

Ça y est, on remonte un peu la pente niveau lecture. Ce n’est pas encore THE coup de cœur, mais il en n’est pas loin.
Dans cette histoire, nous suivons deux hommes : Roan et Jace. Deux hommes qui furent séparé par le governtary. Et chacun d’eux ont fait leur vie de leur côté jusqu’à ce qu’ils se rencontrent de nouveau.
Ok, dit comme ça, on pourrait croire que c’est mignon tout plein et tout, ben non ça ne l’est pas.
Je n’ai pas passé un moment désagréable, non, non, loin de là, juste que j’ai été surprise par l’avancée de l’histoire.
Si on prend l’ensemble du texte, ben… on se retrouve plus avec une romance qu’avec une histoire remplie de péripéties (non, une histoire d’amour n’a pas de péripéties). Il y a certes de l’action, mais pas suffisamment pour « étouffer » la romance qui apparait entre les protagonistes.
D’ailleurs, parlons d’eux. Roan est un Ven. Qu’est-ce que c’est me dit-on à l’oreillette ? Ben… je ne sais pas trop… je ne suis pas sûre… mais je pense qu’il s’agit d’une personne qui a des facultés magiques dues à une modification génétique. Des parias. Ils sont rares, mais bien là. On ne parle pas vraiment d’eux et c’est un peut embêtant… Pour en revenir à Roan, ce mec est juste « faible ». Il a certes une volonté de vivre louable mais on voit bien que c’est le uke (le soumis) de l’histoire. Il lui manque ce petit quelque chose qui pourrait changer la donne.
Jace est le dominant. On le retrouve quelques années plus tard après leur séparation avec… une femme. Ouais, monsieur se la coule douce, tranquille le chat avec une nénette (bonus : pas d’enfant). Mais lorsque Roan, son ancien amant, refait surface… là ça devient du grand n’importe quoi. Bon, sa façon de penser est légitime mais bon quand même… il faut dire aussi qu’il a été aidé dans sa réflexion par quelqu’un que je trouve trop chelou : Cayra.
Alors elle… limite je me demande si ce n’est pas elle « l’homme », le vrai, dans l’histoire. Fort caractère, elle domine certaines situations la plupart du temps, MAIS quand elle reprend son statut de femme alors là… c’est un peu… niais. Ce qui m’a réellement dérangé avec elle, c’est qu’elle ne s’est pas battue assez longtemps pour son mari. Elle a cédé sa place dès le 3ème chapitre. Attend, ton mec réagi bizarrement et toi ton réflexe est de le céder à son ex ? WOW AU SECOURS ! Non, je refuse qu’on cède aussi rapidement.
Dans l’ensemble, ce trio – parce que oui c’est bien un M/F/M – est pas si mal en fait. J’ai bien aimé la façon dont chacun se voit et tente tant bien que mal de se protéger mutuellement. Leurs inquiétudes face à Cayra ou face à Jace. Au final, on ne peut pas trop leur en vouloir.
Sinon, vous vous demandez s’il y a des méchants et comment il se sont séparés ? Hum… Il y en a, mais bon, ça été sous exploité…
Pour faire simple, le Governtary est un « gouvernement » qui fait une chasse aux sorcières et qui fait des manipulations génétiques. C’est tout.
Une chose est sûre, Archer a un style qui me plait. J’aimerais lire un autre livre de sa plume. Ça me donnera surement une autre idée de ses capacités.
Dans cette histoire, nous suivons deux hommes : Roan et Jace. Deux hommes qui furent séparé par le governtary. Et chacun d’eux ont fait leur vie de leur côté jusqu’à ce qu’ils se rencontrent de nouveau.
Ok, dit comme ça, on pourrait croire que c’est mignon tout plein et tout, ben non ça ne l’est pas.
Je n’ai pas passé un moment désagréable, non, non, loin de là, juste que j’ai été surprise par l’avancée de l’histoire.
Si on prend l’ensemble du texte, ben… on se retrouve plus avec une romance qu’avec une histoire remplie de péripéties (non, une histoire d’amour n’a pas de péripéties). Il y a certes de l’action, mais pas suffisamment pour « étouffer » la romance qui apparait entre les protagonistes.
D’ailleurs, parlons d’eux. Roan est un Ven. Qu’est-ce que c’est me dit-on à l’oreillette ? Ben… je ne sais pas trop… je ne suis pas sûre… mais je pense qu’il s’agit d’une personne qui a des facultés magiques dues à une modification génétique. Des parias. Ils sont rares, mais bien là. On ne parle pas vraiment d’eux et c’est un peut embêtant… Pour en revenir à Roan, ce mec est juste « faible ». Il a certes une volonté de vivre louable mais on voit bien que c’est le uke (le soumis) de l’histoire. Il lui manque ce petit quelque chose qui pourrait changer la donne.
Jace est le dominant. On le retrouve quelques années plus tard après leur séparation avec… une femme. Ouais, monsieur se la coule douce, tranquille le chat avec une nénette (bonus : pas d’enfant). Mais lorsque Roan, son ancien amant, refait surface… là ça devient du grand n’importe quoi. Bon, sa façon de penser est légitime mais bon quand même… il faut dire aussi qu’il a été aidé dans sa réflexion par quelqu’un que je trouve trop chelou : Cayra.
Alors elle… limite je me demande si ce n’est pas elle « l’homme », le vrai, dans l’histoire. Fort caractère, elle domine certaines situations la plupart du temps, MAIS quand elle reprend son statut de femme alors là… c’est un peu… niais. Ce qui m’a réellement dérangé avec elle, c’est qu’elle ne s’est pas battue assez longtemps pour son mari. Elle a cédé sa place dès le 3ème chapitre. Attend, ton mec réagi bizarrement et toi ton réflexe est de le céder à son ex ? WOW AU SECOURS ! Non, je refuse qu’on cède aussi rapidement.
Dans l’ensemble, ce trio – parce que oui c’est bien un M/F/M – est pas si mal en fait. J’ai bien aimé la façon dont chacun se voit et tente tant bien que mal de se protéger mutuellement. Leurs inquiétudes face à Cayra ou face à Jace. Au final, on ne peut pas trop leur en vouloir.
Sinon, vous vous demandez s’il y a des méchants et comment il se sont séparés ? Hum… Il y en a, mais bon, ça été sous exploité…
Pour faire simple, le Governtary est un « gouvernement » qui fait une chasse aux sorcières et qui fait des manipulations génétiques. C’est tout.

I really enjoyed this book. For the Clan had so many different surprises that I consider this to be one of the most memorable books I have read so far this year! I am so thankful to Xpresso Book Tours for the chance to review this novel by Archer Kay Leah.
When I requested to review For the Clan, I wanted to read it because it was a dystopian novel that was set in Canada. (Yay, Canadian here!) And what's more awesome is that my home down of Windsor got a shout out! :D
I loved the dystopian world that Archer Kay Leah created. It has been written in such a way that it could actually seem plausible for it to happen in the near future, except for the magic using Ven people. I don't want to leave any spoilers, but the action was AWESOME!
The bulk of this story focuses on a polyamorous romance between Jace, Roan and Cayra. (MMF) I wasn't expecting this to happen, because the blurb does not really hint to it, but I was pleasantly surprised. The romance felt natural (maybe a little too fast, but still good) and the sex was pretty darn hot. I was a little worried for the author, considering that the romance was only briefly mentioned in the blurb, but it was categorized properly in Amazon, so I guess we're all good.
The two aspects of the book that I feel needed work were the lack of back story and the "easiness" of it all. I feel like this novel could have easily filled 300+ pages instead of less than 200, and I would have been happy to read every single word. Though the Water Wars were mentioned, I would have appreciated a bit more back story. The rest of the plot moves quick, and their obstacles seem to be over come with little effort (relatively speaking of course).
I love, love, loved the cover. The feel of it is so dystopian, military-action, video-gamy goodness. (I really can't think of any other way to explain it.)
In closing, I found For the Clan to be a quick, fun read. I hope that the author continues to use their skills and write more dystopian stories in the future.

This is a book that I would be scribe to be about lost love, second chances, new beginnings, and new perspective.
Roan has a major chip on his shoulder about being Ven and the fact that he hates his magic does not help either. I think that if he and Jace would not have been split up at an early age when Roan was kidnapped by the government and made into a weapon then he would have embraced who was sooner and accepted that yes he may be somewhat different but it did not make him a monster not did it hinder him as a person.
Once he was reconnected with Jace the old Roan started to slowly come back but with reconnecting with Jace after his escape from the military both Jace and Roan was given a new beginning along with the very much added love of Cayra.
I believe that all three of these people was missing something in their lives and even if just two of them was together it was not complete. The three of them together made each other whole. They completed what holes was left in their relationship by coming together and loving each one equally.
But the three do not get their happily ever after without fighting for it. Even still they may lose one or all for standing up for their clan but if they do not stand and fight, they will never have their freedom and they will not all be together since the government is willing to do whatever it takes to get their machine (Roan) back. So it is a fight to live, to love, and have freedom.
This book was so much more interesting the. I thought it would be from the description and I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope many more will also.

For the Clan is an adult science fiction novel filled with a hot and sizzling romance.
When I first saw this book in Xpresso Book Tours, I already like to read it because the cover attracted me and I feel like this book will be good. I also didn’t pay attention to the synopsis because I want to be surprised by what the story will be, and I was shocked when I’d found that this is an MM romance. This book is the first romance book that I’d read, and the lovers are both guys.
This is a story of a boy taken from his home when he was made as a weapon by the government and when he felt tired of what they are doing to him and can’t take it anymore, he finds a way to escape them. After he gets away, he finds himself back home again. The problem that he will encounter aside from the government is seeing his past lover, which is the leader of the clan he is currently residing and that person is already married.
I liked the concept used in this story, but I can’t fully enjoy it because it lacks a back story to tell me what happened before and how the world turned like that. The actions are also good, but it is not that awesome because the characters solved it effortlessly and I didn’t even feel that they struggled on resolving it.
The world-building is okay, but a lot of loopholes was also found here, but because of the characters, that really justified their role in this book, I gave this book a chance.
Overall, this is a good book, but the only thing I dislike is the lack of supporting stories on how the world changed.

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. Its only, and I do mean ONLY saving grace was the fact that all three main characters have a say. We hear from Roan and Jace, but also from Jace's wife, Cayra. It is the only thing that kept me going, the only thing that saved this book from a lower rating, or even a DNF.
I just felt totally disconnected from everything and everyone. From the world, the history. It was never fully explained what happened to the world. What Roan was or if it did, I totally missed it. How the Clan got from Canada to London. Some things didn't make sense, to me, anyway! The Clan has trucks, but it doesn't say how they are powered. The Clan lives off the land, but they have grenade launchers and guns, from where??
I did love the scenes between Roan and Jace upon their reunion; between Jace and Cayra, and between them all three. I loved that Jace and Roan didn't push Cayra out, that she wanted to be let in.
*insert heavy sigh* It was OKAY, I guess!

I was surprised when I read this. This is an MMF story. Roan and Jace in the beginning are young lovers. While their relationship isn't totally approved, it isn't necessarily frowned upon either. One day when they are seeking time alone, Roan, a magical being called a Ven, is captured by the government to be turned into a weapon. They don't see each other for 15 years. When Roan shows up, Jace is married and leader of their clan. Cayra, is the "other woman" in the story, so to speak. 15 years isn't enough to quell Jace and Roan's affections, but they aren't the same kids they were long ago.
As I mentioned I was surprised at how much I liked this book because I don't really like MMF/MFM/FMM/FFM/MFF/FMF of any sort. Cayra is very accepting of Jace and Roan's relationship even though it doesn't seem like it. What I didn't like was the plot. It was very anticlimactic and there were a lot of areas where the author could have embellished a little bit more. There's little explanation to the history of Vens, Cayra and Jace's relationship after Roan was taken. Things just fell into place too neatly for me. There was no real character tension as there should have been or overall real drama 3.5 stars

I enjoyed this a lot, but I think it took the easy path at almost every turn. I liked the dystopian future that is believably and recognizably the result of current world politics. But we learn very little about it. The metropolises and goventary remain faceless throughout the book. I liked the ven's magical abilities, but we're just basically told they exist and little more. I have no understanding of limitations or how any of it works. I liked the triad that formed between the main characters, but it was established far too easily. There was no palpable angst, nervousness, or jealousy at any point from anyone and everyone else just accepted it. I like the final stand the characters made, but it was resolved by a convenient and unexpected interloper. I liked the HEA, but it's hard to believe that one little fight (and it was small by goventary standards) would really make anyone safe in the long run. (In fact, I'd suspect the opposite.) None the less, it was presented as having won the war, not just the battle.
All in all, it was an interesting story, with interesting characters and it flowed well. It just didn't flow very deeply.

2016 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: For the Clan by Archer Kay Leah
1) Loved this dystopian MMF novel! I loved the characters, the plot, and the way the author skillfully pulled me into a fully realized world.
2) For the Clan gripped me from beginning to end. Each of the three main characters were fully developed with compelling back stories. The relationships that predated the story, between the two men and between one of the men and the woman, were very real and believable. The evolution of the relationship between them was natural and hot. Their polyamory made sense for who they were, and was completely wholesome, if that's the right word. The storyline was equally riveting. I didn't see how it was going to work out, until it did. Excellent! And I'll be re-reading their first three-way more than once!

I wanted so much more military strategies and stuff out of this one but instead there was a lot of awkwardly written sex and a threesome that wasn't really needed except to create ~drama~. It felt over the top angsty and dramatic and if I didn't know they were in their 30s through math, I would have thought they were 16 at most. It just was not the book for me.

While I loved the characters here and thought the romance was very well done, I struggled with the world-building and the overall background of the story. Maybe I expected too much from a romance, but it seems like there was so much potential introduced but never explored/answered. As much as I do not normally like love triangles, it was well done here, especially in the way Jace's wife was treated.
