Forget fad diet and make peace with your plate. Eat With Intention is your guide to losing weight and living better, simply by properly listening to your body.
This is not your traditional cookbook. You will not have to do a cleanse, eat kale every day, or eliminate an entire food group. Instead, you will learn the step-by-step process for eating with intention and put a stop to the never ending cycle of fad diets, constant exhaustion, and general unhappiness with your body and yourself.
Meditation and wellness teacher Cassandra Bodzak struggled for years with unhealthy dieting, stomach pains, and food allergies. It was only when she began to listen to her body and eat with intention that she transformed her life. In this book, she shares her wisdom to help you discover:
How to uncover the foods that are hurting you How to nourish your body from a place of self-love How to incorporate a daily gratitude or meditation practice into your life How to prepare nearly 75 plant-based recipes, each accompanied by a mantra and meditation for eating with purpose and fueling your body
So if you want to learn how to quiet your mind, start listening to your body, and love your whole self, then you are ready for this blueprint to a life that lights you up from the inside out. You are ready to live your best life with a clear head, open heart, and endless energy.
Love this: "According to the food trends for 2017, it’s bang on trend. Food forecasters say that in 2017 we will focus on lighter eating, dairy-free and a rise in veganism. There’s also a move towards connecting mindfulness with food, as research is now showing that how we eat is as important as what we eat. The emphasis is on eating slower, shutting off distractions like TV and social media and paying full attention to every mouthful that you eat so you really enjoy and appreciate your food every day." -Farmergirl Kitchen
Loved this author. I like her authentic, original style of writing and of presenting her material. I liked the narrative, but the recipes were long and detailed and didn't encourage me to try them out. The photos are gorgeous, but I wish each recipe had a photo to drool over. The recipes I tried did not come out well, and this was frustrating as I tried to be mindful when cooking as the author suggests. Her intent is good, and resonates with me. But the actual recipes did not.
I thought that this sounded good. I did not realize that this was going to be a "diet" book. I enjoyed the recipes, but much of this I would not make but I would be interested in eating.
When I picked up this book, I thought it would be a little more recipe-heavy. The first section that focused mainly on smoothies was pretty much useless to me (I hate smoothies, I'm not a fan of drinking my foods), but the others had some good ideas. I had to change the recipes I made to include meat (for my husband) but the flavors were well-balanced. I think my favorite was the root vegetable salad; my girls liked the tacos (naturally). As far as the 'intention' part of this book, they were nice additions, but they haven't stuck with me.
I feel this book found me because I had been thinking about incorporating meditations into my life. It is a unique angle combining the meditations along with the recipes (or at least for me unique since this is the first of it's type that I have read). Cassandra is very thoughtful in this book. Enjoyed the lovely photos of food.
Ms. Bodzak tells her story of health and food and what it means to "experience the joy of nourishing yourself". She talks about her own personal health issues and gives creative suggestions for learning to have a loving, open relationship with your own body. I tried over half of the recipes in this book and tried all of the meditation ideas (liking 75%).
