The second final volume to this series is getting everything ready for its conclusion. A bittersweet volume indeed. As I've stated before, some of the most pleasant, insightful, and truly honest things in this series is the interactions between Nanami and her shinshi, Mizuki. This volume was superb in addressing how their relationship will end once Nanami and Tomoe return to the human world to live as humans. It was a heartbreaking chapter, and one can't help but feel completely awful for Mizuki, who prepares to have another beloved goddess leave him. It was beautifully written with just the right amount of emotion, sincerity and humour.

Other noteworthy moments in this volume include the final resolution with Akura-Oh, something I predicted, and was quite excited to see come to fruition; and Kurama making an appearance, because who doesn't love Kurama!? Of course, one also has to enjoy Nanami and Tomoe getting in some adorable relationship scenes and banter.

This series became a quick favourite for me, and I admit, I'm really not ready to have it end, but all good things do come to an end.

Okay, so the next volume is the last volume and I'm heartbroken.
I think I do like the anime on this one better. The voices really capture the tone of the series and make it really funny. I'm glad that Akura-oh's arc is over because that was dragging on for eons.
I still am not able to predict how this series will end. Will Tomoe become human or will Nanami became immortal? I'm hoping for the second one because all of her friends are immortal but I have a bad feeling tears will be involved.

This manga series was like the waves: up then down, up then down. Arcs were not equally good. Some were really amazing, some were boring and just seemed out of place.
But I don't care. It made me angry and annoyed at points but I don't care.
My couple got happy ending. And because of it I love it.

Everyone: “Stay here, Nanami. Stay where it’s safe.”
Nanami: 😶 *charges through into danger anyway*

I think this is exactly why I love Nanami with all my heart ❤️ I mostly hate it when characters do reckless impulsive actions but Nanami following her heart and charging through any kind of dangers to save those she cares about is so darn amazing ✨💖 It’s all thanks to her that so many lives turn out for the better.

Here are some other moments I truly enjoy from this volume (beware spoilers!):
- of course, Nanami jumping into danger anyway to find Tomoe, and Tomoe being so proud of her
- Yatori finally burning YASSSS THIS IS SO GOOD
- Ookuninushi being Ookuninushi 😂 his character really reminds me of Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club! His relationship with Kuromaro is also something I wish the author would have covered more
- Nanami comforting Kuromaro
- Ako telling everyone she’s still willing to be Kirihito/Akura-Oh’s mother, if he’s allowed to be alive again
- Mizuki confronting Nanami and finally crying his heart out in Nanami’s arms regarding his feelings about Nanami leaving Mikage shrine
- Tomoe learning about how it feels to work as a human
- Tomoe tricking Mikage into paying him a fortune for working as his shinshi for 500 years (this one was hilarious, I love how cute he acts in front of Mikage 😂)

Honestly though, as much as I want Nanami and Tomoe to settle down in the human world happily, I’m not ready to let these characters go 🥺💗 I’ll miss them so much!

Behold! The SPOILERS!

This isn’t as good as the previous volume but it’s still okay. The Kuromaro plotline is still confusing as heck and I have no idea what the point of it was and why certain things happened but I like the stuff going on with Tomoe, Nanami and Mizuki.

I actually really liked Tomoe coming back to his senses because he thought of Nanami and how he refused to give in to Yatori’s temptation. Oh and also him acknowledging that Nanami is more mature than him is great and a compliment he needed to give after everything that happened. I also love the idea of resurrecting Akura because I do believe that he would be a much better person after everything that happened and could hang out with Tomoe as his “brother”.

The Kuromaro stuff is confusing as I don’t understand why she was with Okuninushi in the first place. Also Yatori just died when she became free which was really weird.

And then there’s the plotline of Nanami and Tomoe trying to adapt to the human life and it’s fine. I liked Tomoe working hard to please Nanami but other than that it was nothing special. Oh and I liked Kurama’s advice to Mizuki… that was quite wholesome as well. Oh and I’m pissed that Tomoe has short hair again. He should have his long beautiful hair forever cause it’s hot.

Anyway, this is a little worse than the previous volume but it’s still better than what came before so I’m giving it 4 stars. I hope the last volume is the wholesome conclusion that we deserve.

This volume picks up where we left off last time, with Yatori clambering to make Akura-oh’s body his own. Except when he tries to do that, he finds that his body can’t withstand it. And for a split second I was really worried that Tomoe was going to give in and join with them. But he doesn’t, and Yatori disintegrates, and Nanami shows up, and that arc is finally over. And then we circle back to the fact that Tomoe is going to become a human. But they’re nervous, so they decide to wait one more year before doing that. In the meantime, Nanami runs herself basically into the ground trying to work and go to school to raise money for their life together, and Tomoe tries to get her to stop. I’m really not sure whether or not this whole plan of theirs to start a life in the human world is really going to happen. Onto the last (!) volume to find out.

To be honest, I'm not completely sure how I feel about this one. I have mixed feelings about the resolution of the Akura-Oh story arc. The rest of the volume I think was supposed to be about developing Nanami and Tomoe's relationship and Nanami and Mizuki dealing with the implications of the future, but it seemed not to get very far. I'm hoping it will all make sense in volume 25. Overall, though, this volume did leave me feeling happy.

Nanami finally gets a chance to thank Kuromaro personally. Yatori gets burned up and ceases to exist. Okuninushi's grandmother Izanami scolds him for not disposing of Akura-Oh's body sooner. Ako wants to be Akura-Oh's mother and everyone even Izanami agrees. Nanami wants to pick up a part-time job while attending school. She ends up picking up quite a few jobs and even Tomoe asks Mikage for a job.

I'm going to leave the same review for all the volumes. I LOVED this manga so much and am trying to collect all the physical copies. I was originally reading it online when it was still coming out

There are a lot of characters. Only some are the main characters, but we see and get to know the side characters also. World building was nicely done in typical youkai fashion, and the romance was very cute

I don’t want them to both become human and live in the human world and leave everything and everyone they knew behind 😭😭😭 I know it’s supposed to be a happy ending but it makes me so sad... and frankly, I don’t believe that Tomoe would be happy as a human... I think he’d come to really regret it even if he’s happy with Nanami.

I came back to finish this series after 7 years because I had just re-watched the anime and I was pretty sure the manga was completed by now. And I'm writing this review about half a year after I actually read the volumes so this is kind of a vague group review for 22 and on.

I love these. They're so dramatic yet sweet and cute.

Even though there’s one more, I felt like this was the tie-up book for the series. A lot of the main plot stuff was officially resolved in this one. We get relationship stuff between Tomoe and Nanami, which let’s be honest, is basically the only reason I’m reading this series. Overall, good read though and I look forward to the final installment.

The story seems to be wrapping up, but it's interesting to see the way Tomoe & Nanami have changed. While it's somewhat sweet that Tomoe wants to be human to live life with Namami, it also seems a little sad...

i am really into the feelings and melancholy you get out of youkai having relationships with humans knowing that there's an end date to it they can't do anything about and kamisama kiss and natsume's book of friends are very good to me in that respect
