OKKK THIS WAS IT! Just like I thought, this volume really picked up the story! I think this has more of a recurring plot throughout compared to the first four volumes. A lot of it revolved around the president and Vice President from miyabigaoka wanting to buy the maid cafe and there was a whole competition reflecting around that. You can tell there’s def going to be more drama w/ them later on and I can’t wait! We also see more of misaki and usui’s relationship bloom and omg I love them so much. You can see they just REALLLLLY care for one another but won’t admit it and it makes my heart go crazy! Not only did this volume continue to have great build up for their relationship, BUT SOME OF MY ALL TIME FAV SCENES FROM THE ANIME WERE HERE & EXTENDED IN THE MANGA!! I love love love the scene where misaki can’t cook TO SAVE HER LIFE but usui is hurt and sick and she takes care of him and cooks him a meal! He makes fun of her cooking but says “this was the first meal you made for me so I had to eat it” yeah I love him! My other fav scenes: when she’s sad bc she thinks he won’t eat her rice balls and he secretly eats them while she’s asleep and laughs and tells her she did great, when he FALLS FOR HER AT THE BUTLER CONTEST!!, and just other jealousy moments. We also get introduced to a new character who is also interested in misaki & that causes Usui to become territorial and get jealous. We love to see it! Overall I enjoyed a lot of the chapters here bc they were so fun and had me kicking and screaming! I cant wait to continue!!

Обожавам тази поредица! Мисаки и Усуи намират все по-интересни и заплетени ситуации, в които да изпадат и с които да забавляват читателя. А ревността определено подхожда на Усуи 👀

Alright, so my main complaint regarding the previous volumes was the about the lack of a storyline. I feel like now there's one that is starting, with the whole "selling the cafe" plot. Which is good.

The whole thing is still a bit all over the place and does not make much sense, though it is still very fun to read. I am just a bit confused as to why EVERY SINGLE MALE in this series seems to fall head over heels for Misaki (most of them in a very creepy fashion).

Still a fun read, but clearly it lacks a definite plot and more character development.

I feel like sometimes this is difficult to read cause sometimes there's just too much going on and everyone is overreacting, but I like it overall and it's hilarious. But it's been a while since I read the earlier volumes and I'm starting to forget things...

Volume 5

3.5⭐️

I'm starting to like Misaki and Usui's relationship more. The characters become more nuanced in these volumes as well, as we learn of the existence of their struggles and such. I'm looking forward to see them get expanded and elaborated on. There was also some exploration of gender and masculinity & femininity. I was surprised by this at first but thinking about it now and it makes total sense given that the premise of the series is about the main character being a maid, a stereotypically feminine role. So I appreciated that.

The comedic relief was amusing for the most part. But there was an instance where I had an issue with it, and a big one at that. It's when One star is off purely for that. Plus I'm still not totally invested with the story and characters in general, but I can see that changing as I read on.

I found that I enjoyed volumes 5 & 6 overall more than the preceding ones and there is definitely potential, so I'll make sure to get onto the next volumes quicker than I got on these ones (I read volumes 3 & 4 three years ago...)

This volume might be my favorite so far. I feel like the conflicts (especially in Vol. 5) were laid out pretty clearly and the story centered around that. I also like that we’re learning more about Usui as we go on and I can’t wait for us to get into the details. I didn’t like the cabin trip and how the boys being predators were played off as them ‘not being themselves’. They try to attack the girls every year and the school still allows the trip? If it’s such a risk just make it a requirement for the boys alone to go, especially since they do more rigorous activities. That was just really weird to read. But other than that, I feel like I’m finally getting into the groove of things and feeling a deeper connection to the characters.

After reading Vol. 3 (2-in-1 Omnibus), I feel this is the starting point where the illustrations have become better and the story starts to flesh out more.
There's still plenty of silly shenanigans to go around for Misaki and Usui, and I caught myself laughing so many times at their crazy relationship.
This volume also introduces the love rival, Hinata Shintani, and things only get more hilariously chaotic after his arrival. Also, my favorite episode from the anime makes its debut in this novel. The high school class's camping trip is one of the funniest things I've ever read/watched! I loved every minute of it!
I simply can't get enough of Usui and Misaki, and I would rate this ship one of the highest on my list!

I love our heroine. She’s such a great character. The plot is funny and I’m still enjoying it. However, I didn’t find the almost full on group sexual assault situation at the class trip funny. That wasn’t a laughing matter. Additionally, the whole purchasing the maid cafe building storyline seemed dumb to me. If the owner of the building doesn’t want to sell or even does, the tenants or renters don’t have much say in the matter especially if their contract is up. It was too stupid of an obstacle for me to believe. Nonetheless, I appreciate the theme of being yourself especially during the interactions between Aoi and Misaki. I definitely will be continuing.

So far, this was the weakest book of the six volumes I have read so far. The story continues on at Seika High School and focuses on the two main characters, Misaki and Usui. At the end of the second book, the Maid Café was under attack by another local business, a Butler Café. In the end, the Maid Café won out and continued to stay in busy; however, Misaki continues to keep her message but continues to live in fear. By the end of the book, the class goes to a local temple for a "special fieldtrip" (and the lie detector determined that was a lie). Misaki continues to stand as a leader and to save her class from possible disaster.

This series rates high for me just on nostalgia alone, but these two volumes are where the overarching plot line really starts to take shape. Misaki is slowly becoming more aware of Usui, and more curious about his past. We, as the reader, are also intrigued by his lack of family. Shintani, Usui’s rival for Misaki’s affections, is also introduced at this point in the story, and while it has always been clear he never stood a chance, it’s nice to see Usui get jealous. All in all, the plot is thickening and I am loving it just as much as when I was 10 years younger than I am now.

This is a cute enough series, and this particular volume has a fun cooking scene. Usui is a tad intense, and acts very possessive and stalkerish, which detracts from a lot of the charm this could otherwise have. We get a childhood friend, and that usually marks a turning point in a series...
This would be a good introduction to shojo manga maybe, as it has a lot of the tropes.

This series continues to be fun. Things are going in a slightly different order than what I remember from the anime, but not enough to really impact the plot at this point. I think that the manga is just as enjoyable as the anime, if not more so.
I don't think I will ever get enough of revisiting this series. This is again, a slow collect for me, but I look forward to what is to come after the content of the anime.

This one was quirky.

It’s funny but something is off with the series and I don’t know what. It might be Usui’s super mysterious background and behavior.

When Usui said, “I’m nothing but a stalker” in a semi-dramatic pose, I realized who he reminds me of - Sebastian from Black Butler. Some of the panels he’s in really reminds me of Sebastian.

Anyways, I found this went in a new direction than the last. It was well done.

Interesting volume which contained some of my favorite moments from the anime adaptation. Overall a quick and easy read which fits well into the larger series. I think the Bonus episodes in this volume were my favorite aspect.

Misaki is still very yelly. I also cant decide if I think the MMC is really into her or just likes playing games sometimes. When people ask if he wants to be with her he gives different answers. I like the new odd kid who loves to eat.

Although I'm not always comfortable with how Usui acts around Misaki (physically I find he crosses lines a few times), this is still a shoujo delight of a series.

The story goes on. This volume finds Misa and Usui competing in a butler audition and a visit from someone from Misa's childhood as well as other adventures. I am loving reading about them and seeing things from the anime, which I watched first.
