Montreal, Quebec . . . A charming city on the St. Lawrence River, historic, sophisticated, but beneath it all lies an extensive underground where treacherous vampires are plotting to seize the country.

Lucifer Scuderi is a vampire—handsome and charismatic, a powerful hunter of unusual skill—who arrives in Montreal to take on the most important hunt of his life. Someone has kidnapped the mate of Canada’s ruling vampire lord, and it’s up to Lucifer to find him before his death sets off a crisis that could engulf the entire continent.

Eleanor Morel lost everything—including the love of her life—when she became a vampire. But now, twenty years later, she’s a trusted bodyguard to the Canadian lord, Sophia, and the only person Sophia can count on to lead the search for her endangered mate. But what Eleanor doesn’t know is that the special hunter she’ll be working with is none other than her long-lost love. And he’s demanding answers.

Lucifer’s love for Eleanor burns as hot as his anger towards her for leaving him. But they’ll have to find a way to set history aside and work together if they’re going to unravel the twisted betrayal that threatens not only Sophia and her mate, but the whole continent. Because the European vampires are on the move. And if Canada falls, the rest of North America could follow . . .

5 Lost love Stars

 photo 9260148_zpsxaja4qn3.gif

I love the Vampires in America Series. I fell in love with it when Cyn and Raphael stole my heart back in 2014 when I bought book 1, and the series just keeps getting better. Lucifer the 11th book was so good I power read through it. I love the building story line of the European vampires trying to take over America. It's got me on pins and needles wondering what will happen next. Plus it lets me keep in touch with past couples as they join together to help each other keep America theirs. This book had two love stories in it. The big second chance love story of Lucifer and the long lost love of his life Eleanor. It also has the on going love story of Sophia vampire Lord of Canada and her Mate Colin who was kidnapped and tortured.

 photo 11156818_zpsn9ubozaz.gif

I loved getting to see Sophia and Colin again, but my heart broke over all they went through. I loved Lucifer and Eleanor's love story. I really enjoy second chance loves and they had a sweet one filled with passion and plenty of I love yous. Lucifer was charming, sexy, and really badass. Eleanor was loyal, brave, and kicked ass in her own right. They made a very cute couple. Something I really love about this series is not only do I get an amazing love story I get tons of action. The end of this book gave a idea of what's coming in the next book and I can't wait! Another great book in an awesome series.

5 Vampire Loving Stars!!

D.B. Reynolds does it again!! She is truly a master storyteller; I wish I had even a quarter of her amazing storytelling talent! Once again she has given us an delicious vampire to fall in love with. In Lucifer we actually get two storylines interwoven, this is definitely Lucifer’s book however; we all know that something is going on with Lady Sophia and her mate Colin….we finally get answers.

Lucifer, like all DBR’s vampires is gorgeous, witty, charming and has an abundance of charisma, he's also very passionate and a bit vulnerable at times, but only when it comes to Eleanor. Lucifer is not a vampire lord nor is he a lieutenant, he is one of Aden’s vampires who's a hunter, who happens to be powerful enough to one day rule his own territory.

Lucifer 1 photo PicsArt_1478418825787_zpsdfzbxkeo.jpg

In Lucifer, another powerful European Lord is attempting to take control of one of the North American territories, in this case Lady Sophia’s Canadian territory. We are treated once again to an exciting tale of deception, brutality, betrayal, love, loyalty, and a fierce battle between a Lady and a Lord.

Lucifer, at the request of Lord Aden is tasked in finding Colin who has been taken by Lady Sophia’s enemy to weaken her. Having a strategic and analytical mind is one of Lucifer’s many talents, which makes him very good at his job. He soon finds out that he’ll be having a partner on his hunt…his long lost love Eleanor.

Lucifer 2 photo PicsArt_1478419694007_zpszao8oxjo.jpg

Eleanor is Lady Sophia’s most trusted personal bodyguard and friend. Sophia doesn’t know who to trust and doesn't want Aden working alone in her territory, so she sends Eleanor to watch over him, assist in the hunt, the investigation, and the eventual rescue of Colin. Eleanor, like all DBR’s heroines is no weeping willow, she is a strong young vampire who happens to be Lucifer’s ex-lover who disappeared several years earlier, he soon learns that Eleanor is no longer the shy and fragile human Lucifer once loved so fiercely and lost.

Lucifer and Eleanor make a great team and as they work together, they come to terms with their past, eventually they are able to put the past behind them, get reacquainted and…..WOW, the passion they have for each other is scorching hot!

All-in-all another fantastic addition to the ViA series and a MUST read for fans of the series. I absolutely love this series and can’t wait for more!! We once again get one of her signature endings, DBR dangles that carrot….and as always it promises to be very exciting!

A devilish game is afoot. A game set to destroy all Vampire Lord Sophia holds dear: her love, her mate, her Colin. What Sophia needs is a master at the art of the game. Someone who knows and understands strategies and puzzles. A thinking man with a head for details and a methodical intellect to match. Lucifer Scuderi is that man.

Lucifer is a powerful and loyal vamp and a good friend to his Lord Aden, doing just about anything asked of him – even helping recover a fellow lord’s mate. Having a strategic mind is one of Lucifer’s many talents. He finds himself saddled with a partner: one of Sophia’s best to aid him in his search and rescue mission. Upon seeing his new partner, his world tunnel visions into a heart stopping revelation, one that will fill and empty wound that left him an aching gaping wound where is heart once was.

Eleanor Morel, a tough and strong (albeit young) vampire has worked her way up to being a bodyguard. No longer a shy and fragile human, she has cemented over the loss of her physical humanity and carved out a new vampire life that still holds the sting of a lost love and all that can never be.

This is a tale of two couples.

One is set on a connection forged in battle and not allowing it to be torn apart by those evil enough to target a perceived weakness, and the other is a reconnection and a shared goal that will overpower both of them.

Vampires in America is a series that not only has cemented itself in the hallowed halls of the fantasy book realm, and it’s not losing its steam. It’s only getting hotter, more intuitive, and massively satisfying. Dare I say, next to Raphael, Lucifer has ensnared me with his devilish charms, becoming one of my top reads in the series.

D.B Reynolds has delivered a master class in what paranormal romance is meant to be.

I'll have to whisper this really sottovoce: but I didn't enjoy reading Lucifer. I know, I know, I risk my VIA card... and yet Lucifer wasn't for me.

Here are my nits:
-God, there is something called "too much sex"... I know, I know, don't shoot me. But there can't be a longish sex scene every few pages. It does get boring after a while, above all in this context. (UF themed plot). They had sex every time they woke up, every time they went to bed.... zzz.. But the real problem was that the focus on sex was along a plot that sees the kidnapping and torturing of one of the main characters in this series. Not everyone will agree, but it sounded absurd to me. And made me think negative thoughts on both leads (and the story).
-I felt like a ballon fizzled in my face. We are offered a lead up to an angst moment that never arrived.
- Their backstory was interesting, but at the same time wasn't strong enough to made me fully believe in their love story. Ergo the sex was even less acceptable...
-I never loved Sophia. But I think her portrait here was even less positive. She wavered from a "poor me" victim to a fake lord. I never felt her power. I don't see how she could be a Lord even when she addressed her faults/mistakes. (Except Cyn, I still think the author is missing a lot not giving real strength to her heroines.)
-And this brings me to the last nit: Ellie. She's not coherently characterized in my very stupid opinion. She's strong, but not really. She's never a peer to Lucifer. Pity. Yes, I understand she's younger, but her "power" was there and mostly underutilized.

This book end in my ok pile at the end, as I was never particularly thrilled to keep reading.

Arc courtesy of NetGalley

Re read on August 2017 and February 2019. I stand by every word. There's a very thin plot, drowned by sex. Not much romance, not even of the second chance variety. Sex isn't love and a 30 year gap doesn't make me believe you loved each other. Together with Cato it's her worst book for me.
A fuckfest that compelled me to skim read.

Not even decades, lies or vampire politics will keep true apart in this hot and sexy second chance paranormal romance enveloped in treachery and excitement.

Lucifer Scuderi lives for the hunt and after Lord Sophia of Canada requests the vampire Lords of America to help search for her kidnapped mate, Lucifer knows he’ll get him back otherwise the entire continent is at risk of invasion from the European vampires. What he didn’t count on was that the vampire who’s been partnered up to help him is none other than the love of his very long existence who left him without a word twenty years ago.
“If you’d wanted to leave, I’d have hated it, but I wouldn’t have stopped you. But didn’t I at least deserve to know you were alive?”
Oh the pain in his eyes when he said that. A hurt that found an echo in her own heart.
“A dingle line, a postcard letting me know you were safe and happy.”

Eleanor Morel met and fell in love with Lucas when she was human and thought she would spend eternity with him until the night she was transformed into a vampire because a vampire rarely mated with another vampire. Not being able to face his rejection she left everything, including him, behind. Now she’s the most trusted member of Sophia’s entourage assigned to bring back her Lady’s mate alongside the vampire who stole her heart and is now equal parts happy and angry at her and requiring an explanation. Can they find a way to work together and perhaps get a second chance at forever?
“She could never hide from him. His heart sang like a tuning fork whenever she was near.”

I’ve loved every book in the Vampires in America Series I’ve read. D.B. Reynolds keeps writing fascinating books with appealing characters, hooking plots and excellent world building. Lucifer is an excellent addition to the series making it hard to decide who my favorite vampire is.

This eleventh installment in the series continues with the threat regarding the European vampires taking over America which brings back all the vampire lords including brief appearances by Raphael himself, but mostly involving Sophia whose mate has been taken and served as a major subplot in the book, gave it added emotional boost and pushed the overall arc. But the main plot revolves around a second chance at love between Lucifer and Eleanor.
“Tell me what you want.”
“You’re such a Neanderthal.”
“I’m a powerful vampire, bella. It comes with the blood. Tell me what you want.”

Lucifer is an incredibly charismatic hero, smart, strong, charming, domineering and sexy. It was impossible for Eleanor to resist him with all his seductive looks and endearments. Elle/Eleanor was perfect for him, not just because he was her one and only love but because she’s come into her vampire skin becoming bold and b@d@ss all on her own.

Their chemistry was instant and scorching hot, especially considering they’d never stopped loving each other during the last two decades. They had some explaining to do, mostly on Eleanor’s part, as well as a ton of investigative work and action packed battles to contend with, but also found time to reconnect and rekindle their love.

Christian is book #11 in the Vampires in America series by D.B. Reynolds. This is a full length paranormal romance novel, told from several points of view. Even though it can be read as a standalone it is strongly advised that it be read in the series’ order or at least after reading book #4 and #10 in order to fully enjoy the subplot surrounding Lucifer and Eleanor’s love story.

Favorite quote:
“I’ll try.”
“There is no try, just do.”
He turned at the door, laughing. “You’re quoting f*cking Yoda at me?”
“Is that who said that? I figured it was someone old and wise.”
“Yoda is old and wise, you philistine. And you got the quote wrong anyway.”

With book eleven we get to meet Lucifer or as I like to think of him the luscious Luc! This powerful Vampire is so much more than he seems with his cocky attitude, devilish good looks and in many ways he is like the Jack Sparrow of the Vampire world except he's a lot more bloodthirsty and dangerous! Yet as a loyal subject of Aden he will serve his Lord to the best of his ability and if that means travelling to Canada to rescue a missing Mate then bring it on . First though he really needs to deal with a huge shock to his system as his dead past is about to come to life right in front of his eyes!
Ok we've known that European Vampires are sniffing around the Lords who control North America but it looks like all out war is imminent as Sophia desperately struggles to maintain calm whilst allowing outsiders into her territory. Vampires don't exactly play well together so you can imagine just how much conflict this causes . Lucifer isn't exactly about to roll over for Sophia but it's realising that he has to partner with Eleanor that really shakes him. The author offers flashbacks to open up their story and it's an emotional read at times. Eleanor is a fierce Vampire , protecting her Lord but she's actually someone who really struggles with certain aspects of her nature. This is my first male/female Vampire pairing from this author and it's one that sets the page on fire, perhaps have ice on standby ? If brutally honest I wanted a tad less sexy times but if you want a combustible relationship then this couple have chemistry that's off the charts!
The overall storyline is advancing with this book and it's setting up quite nicely for lots more bloodshed to come I fear. For now though it's a happy ending as romance and love triumphs and what more could I ask?
This is my voluntary opinion of an Advance Reader Arc

I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this series. This is book 11 and despite not reading previous books, I wasn't lost. You quickly learn the players involved and what the immediate concern is and it takes off from there. You can read this as a standalone but if they are all as good as this one, you will want to start at book 1.

This books main focus is on Lucifer and Eleanor with a minor focus on Sophia and Colin. Colin is Sophia's human mate who was kidnapped and is being tortured to try to distract Sophia so the enemy can bring her down and take over her territory. This is where Lucifer comes in. He is asked to conduct this search and Sophia has asked her bodyguard, Eleanor to help him.

Eleanor used to be Lucifer's human mate before another vampire changed her to take her away from him. Lucifer believed Eleanor was killed and they have not seen each other for 20 years. Lucifer has to search for Collin while dealing with the shock of learning Eleanor has been alive all these years.

There is a lot going on in this story but it never felt like it was too much. Great characters, great story line and I look forward to going back and reading the previous books! ARC provided by NetGalley.

Lucifer is a little bit of a different read in the VIA series. Lucifer is a powerful vampire, but not a Vampire Lord (yet); and both of the leads are vampires, so it’s not the usual vampire/human pairing. The kidnapping of Colin, Sophia’s mate, is also finally addressed here. Lucifer is brought up to Canada to take over the search for Colin. Lucifer has some mad powers that makes him ideal for the task. Sophia doesn’t know him, so she sends one of her own trusted security vampires, Eleanor, to assist him.

Elle and Lucifer, however, have a long-ago relationship from when she was still human, one that Lucifer is eager to revive. As for Elle, she has her own reasons for wanting to leave the past behind, and is not so eager to resurrect their love affair. Unfortunately for her, resisting Lucifer’s charms is not going to be an easy task.

Lucifer is another enjoyable read in the the VIA world. The books are getting better as the series progresses, imo, because Reynolds is writing the 'Vampire Wars' books more in the UF style of the early books. There are still the individual romances; but the stories themselves are meatier/grittier, and playing into the overall arc of the greater vampire power plays of this world. Really good read for fans of the VIA series.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance my-review-updated Summary
In the territory of Canada, Sophia is the ruler but the worst has happened, her human mate Colin has been kidnapped and tortured and kept alive through vampire blond. So she calls in some help, so she can focus on keeping order and find the traitors. Lucifer, may be younger than most vampires but under the aid of Aden and Bastien has been building on his power and strengths. He has come to help since his expertise is seeing those "clues" and his partner is Sophia's most trusted friend and bodyguard Eleanor. Lucifer and Eleanor are thrown a curveball, because they were once lovers but Eleanor and Lucifer were torn apart by an enemy and now they will have to work together to find Colin as fast as possible. Eleanor was forcefully turned into a vampire by Lucifer's enemy, and she was too confused and ashamed to go to him. She has spent the years since learning to fight and being capable and strong. They are on the clock to find Colin, and the traitors behind the kidnapping and betrayal of Sophia and Canada is no small territory to cover.  Being around each other, Lucifer and Eleanor will also have to face the past if they want to have a future together....
Plot and Story Line
Lucifer was another fantastic addition to this series and I LOVED it!! It definitely has some fun old characters we get to get back in touch with like Aden, Bastien, Sophia and Colin and even some snippets of Raphael and Cyn. Those who have fallen in love with this series will have a blast with these characters. Now it starts off with a not so happy start. One of my favorite couples....are in the fight of their lives. Colin and Sophia. Now Sophia is the vampire lord over Canada which she just recently took over and not everyone in her territory are happy about it. She is being sent tapes of Colin's torture and even though she knows he is alive she has no idea where he is being held and is forced to ask for help. Because she has no idea who she can trust. And there is quite a bit of tension between Lucifer and Eleanor. Now we do get a few flashbacks to see their relationship before and see what drove them apart. Now Lucifer is one solid hero....he was so understanding and patient. In fact, there was nothing wrong I could see with him at all. He was so steady and reliable but dangerous when there is an enemy and boy is he powerful. But what I really liked the best about him is he didn't use that power for power alone. He used it to help others or defeat a evil. All that mattered to him was Eleanor, and I loved seeing how devoted he was to her despite the past. Eleanor has learned some painful lessons, and even though she made some decisions that were the best....they were understandable. I felt compassion for both of these characters and the horrible circumstances that a enemy put them in. Which is why I loved seeing this love story get a second chance for a happy ending. And who doesn't love a good mystery? Because Reynolds really outdid herself in this one.
He cupped her face with his free hand, and kissed her. Soft and gentle, and full of love. A romantic kiss that spoke of devotion and promises that lasted forever. "I love you, Eleanor. Forever and ever, bella. Forever and Ever."

Quite a thrill to see the adventure, suspense and a good mystery in the midst of a paranormal romance you can cheer for!! Another Winning romance for D.B. Reynolds!!! And it looks like the series is just beginning for a war and some battles in Europe BRING IT ON!!!
The Cover
LOVE this cover so much!!! Love the feel of danger and power in this one. The male model fits just right for Lucifer as he is described in the book.
Overall View
Lucifer is a vampire romance that is packed with action, danger and a solid mystery that will keep the reader guessing!! SIMPLY EXHILARATING!

I received this book from Netgalley for my honest review.

VIA is a series that has maintained its quality in time and I'm habby about it - it's so rare!

While in the previous books the MCs were destined to fight to become Lords, here we have a less high in hierarchy ones: Lucifer and Eleanor. He's Aden's lieutenants while she's Sophia's head bodyguard.

Lucian, though a lieutenant, is a very powerful vampire: strong, obviously gorgeous, powerful, very alpha!

While a could totally see Lucifer as a strong lieutenant, I didn't have a feeling that Eleanor is strong enough to be an adequate head bodyguard, even if we see some of her strenght on display. She was too girly for that role, IMHO...

The background story is Colin's rescue and the threat of European Master Vampire threat to Sophia's rule of the Canadian Territory.

All this said, I loved the action (mostly I loved Lucifer's action), the sexy times, the easily (thank God there was no useless drama-lama!) solved conflict between Lucifer and Eleanor, Sohia's POV on Colin kidnapping, timely appearance of other Lords (I particularely enjoyed Raphael's!)!

As hinted in the epilogue, I'm so looking forward to what they'll all do to bring war on European Lords inthe next book!!!!

Charming and powerful hunter and vampire - Lucifer Scuderi arrives in Montreal to take on the task of finding the mate (Collin) of Canada’s ruling vampire lord (Sophia), and it’s up to Lucifer to find him before his death sets off a crisis that could engulf the entire continent.

Eleanor Morel lost everything—including the love of her life—when she became a vampire, twenty years later she's the trusted bodyguard of o the Canadian lord, Sophia, and the only person Sophia can count on to lead the search for her missing mate. What Eleanor doesn't expect is to come face to face with Lucifer, who is shocked to see the love of his life alive - he's spent the last 20 years aching for the woman he thought was dead.

Overall, an enjoyable read, although there were small moments when I wanted a but more from Eleanor and Lucifer.

It's been an age since i've read the books that came before this, and not remember anything I didn't feel lost with this - it can be comfortably read as a standalone.

D.B. Reynolds is truly a master of her craft and has once again delivered an amazing addition to her Vampires in America series!

These stories have always made their way to my favourites list, but Lucifer is destined to remain close to my heart for many years to come. For Lucifer is an enigma: gorgeous and witty with a charm that belies his inner strength, Lucifer also harbours a deeply passionate and emotional side that we don’t often encounter in Vamps with the power and ability to one day rule a territory of own.

In this latest tale of the forces vying for control of the North American territories, where deception, brutality and betrayal are front and centre, Ms Reynolds has penned what can most aptly be described as a profoundly moving and captivating romance.

While Lucifer delivers the same intensity and grit that we’ve come to expect from these fast-paced tales of war, danger and mayhem, in Lucifer we also see the human he once was, the values he holds dear and the depth of his love that will last through the ages.

I dare you not to fall in love with this charming rogue; with the heart of a warrior, but the soul of a true romantic

I bow at the greatness of D.B. Reynolds and her way of creating a world where vampires are fierce and deliciously seductive. Nobody can write a vampire world like her.

The words just flow and this vampire world unfolds, sucks you in and takes you on an intense ride that's full of intrigue, gritty moments and packed with passion.

Lucifer is yet another powerful vampire in the VIA series who completely steals your heart. He's got a swagger about him. He's very confident in who he is and masterful in his abilities to track. He's been tasked with finding Sophia's mate Colin. Imagine his surprise when he finds out who's going to be helping him.

Once again we have been given a strong heroine. Eleanor is awesome. She's a gutsy vampire who can hold her own against anyone, strong and full of confidence in her skills. She's also carrying a broken heart from losing the love of her life. She allows herself to be vulnerable without crumbling.

The chemistry between her and Lucifer is smoldering hot and full of passion. Their history is one of all consuming love and heartbreak. This book had a bigger romantic feel to it for me. It's a perfect balance to the intense mystery of who took Colin and finding him before it's too late.

Everything about this book kept me on the edge of my seat. It's fast moving, at times violent and a bit gruesome as is the world of vampires defending their territory. The politics of territories once again plays a big part of the story.

This book sets up for what is obviously going to be a war and I can't wait.

To say I skimmed this one is the understatement of the year, I wasn't a fan of Sophia originally though I liked Colin well enough so I already wasn't interested beginning this story but then to have the next half of the plot be a second chance romance between a former human and a vamp just wasn't my cuppa. The fact remains that a vampire/vamp relationship either means bagged blood or feeding from others. Just not my thing . I'm generally a fan of this series so I'm not going to rate this one.

4.5/5; 5 stars; A

I think I might have mentioned in past reviews that I have lost perspective on this series and pretty much love all the books in it so take my rating with a grain of salt.

This was a good addition to the series, introducing a new part of North America to be fought over, and a different angle on the European vampires.

Obligatory Disclaimers:
The eARC for Lucifer (Vampires in America, #11) by D.B. Reynolds was kindly provided to me by the publishing house in exchange for an honest review.

This is book 11 in the Vampires in America series. I suggest the series is read in order being the majority of the MCs characters inter-lap & the books share a strong overall arc.

In the case of Lucifer it picks up right where Christian (Vampires in America, #10) ended. If you've not read book 10 please be aware possible spoilers lay ahead.

Thoughts & Review:
11 books into this series & the story hasn't become stagnant or repetitive that in itself is impressive.

If you enjoyed Sophia (Vampires in America, #4) you'll be happy to hear this book has multiple POVs Sophia & Colin along with the newest couple Eleanor & Lucifer.

Lucifer is fixated on two things rescuing Colin & Eleanor. The first is the reason Lord Aden sent him into the Canadian territories to begin with. His determination & particular skill set is invaluable in retrieving Lady Sophia's mate Colin. The second well that is an interest of a more personal nature. You see Eleanor Sophia's personal guard & Lucifer have some unfinished business. Business Eleanor would like to avoid & Lucifer is determined to set to rights. As is the case with most things History repeats itself, In Eleanor & Lucifer's case that history leads to the unravelling of painful angry memories.

Lucifer is gorgeous, intelligent, powerful & Lord Aden's loyal subject making Lady Sophia incredibly nervous he's in her territory...even though she's the one who contact Lord Raphael with what amounts to an S.O.S. Lady Sophia's mate Colin has been kidnapped & her Canadian territory is being invaded. Needless to say treachery is afoot, making Sophia feel vulnerable & a might paranoid. Will Lucifer turn out to be an advantageous addition returning Colin to Sophia or a trojan horse in the war?

The editing was as usual stellar & D.B Reynolds did an excellent job moving the overall story arc forward. I look forward to the next installment in this series.

Paranormal Romance was my first love and while I don't necessarily read it as much as I did there are certain authors whose series I fell in love with and D.B. Reynolds is one of them. Although I haven't loved every book in this series, I loved the majority and Lucifer has just been added to that list. I loved this book. Lucifer was awesome, he was powerful, loyal and very loving. Elle was also wonderful, she is a total badass but has such a vulnerable heart for Lucifer. This story was a second chance romance since Elle was Lucifer's lover when she was human. My heart broke for her when she was changed against her will and I totally understood her fear of rejection because she knew if she went back to Lucifer certain things about their relationship would be different. I loved how Lucifer proved that he wanted her no matter what and although this was the first mating of two vampires I honestly thought the sharing of the human was super hot. I'm really loving the story line with the Europeans and of course my absolutely favorite vampire lord Raphael made an appearance.

This author knows how to write ADULT VAMPIRES!!! You forget that you’re reading and she takes you right there, smack in the middle, where everything else around you is invisible! Her vampires are Believable! Alpha! Sensitive! Mean (when they have to be)! And downright Sexy! No boys here, oh no, all male. The women are kick ass, no TSTL B*tches. This series will never end (not in my lifetime lol). The hero Lucifer is swoon worthy, loving and caring. Eleanor is smart; vulnerable and able to take care of herself. The secondary characters are always nice to see. I forgot how much I loved Sophia and Raphael, king of the universe, don’t give a f**k attitude. There’s plenty of action and steamy romance. Lucifer is the 11th addition to the Vampires in America series. I recommend that for full enjoyment to read the series in order.

I have always been a paranormal romance fan and D.B. Reynolds is among my top five PNR authors. The why of it is simple. She has a unique ability to weave together sexy but supremely intense and action-packed stories. And her characters? Simply outstanding.

At book eleven in the ViA, there is no sign of series fatigue, story duplication, or character boredom. Lucifer held me on a nail-biting precipise from beginning to the pulse pounding climax and ending. I won't tell you the intricacies of the story because, as I always say with well-told stories, I won't be doing it any justice. But I will make this confession, *deep breath*...Sophia was the one Lord in the series who I always felt was weaker than the others. I enjoyed her story reasonably well but didn't love it because I didn't love her for what I felt was a weakness. Anyone who else had those feelings about Sophia will definitely see her in much different and much more potent light in Lucifer. She went into beast mode and it was glorious!

The primary characters in this story, Lucifer and Eleanor, were exceptionally well crafted and unique for two reasons: neither of them was a territory Lord although Lucifer was definitely strong enough to be one; and both of them were vampires which has never happened in the series. There is always a lord and their human mate. Reynolds masterfully navigated the relationship and power dynamics between Lucifer and Eleanor as the story unfolded. Readers will utterly fall in love with the couple when discovering their connection to one another.

Lucifer will leave you with a case of book boyfriend hangover for certain!

This was another strong entry in the Vampires in America series.

Lucifer, a powerful vampire in Aden's service, is sent to Canada to find and retrieve Canada's vampire lord Sophia's human mate, Colin, who has been kidnapped by rival forces. Sophia sends Eleanor, her trusted bodyguard, to assist and to keep an eye on Lucifer in his hunt. But Eleanor once was Lucifer's human love, one he thought long dead, and their reunion sparks not so dormant feelings in each.

The story continues the plot line of the European vampires trying to take over North American territory, and the issue of two vampire mates and their need for human blood is new in this series and is handled well. There were a couple things, however, that I felt were not handled ideally. First, during the pair's hunt for Colin--who, incidentally, was being tortured nightly--they seemed to be able to manage only a couple hours of work each night before retreating to take care of personal "business." In some instances it seemed warranted, but in others, it came off as insensitive to Colin's plight and an awkward way to prolong the story. Second, while Lucifer seemed to acknowledge and like the fact that Eleanor as a vampire was quite competent as a fighter, he still treated her as his pampered "pink princess" and her supposed badass fighting skills rarely were in evidence. Even if she was weak compared with him, she shouldn't have come off as little more than fluff for most of the story.

Despite these, however, I really enjoyed the story and look forward to the next in the series.

Wow!
Loaded with action and suspense.
Constantly moving. Not only do you get Lucifer & Eleanor's story, but you get so much more with Sophia and Colin.
Fantastic suspense scenes.
Topped with just enough mystery of who all the traitors are.

Talk about surprising twist! This one has two big ones.
One has to do with the suspense & who one of the main traitors are. I thought I had it all figured out. Boy was I wrong! Yet the clues were there the whole time. I just went in the wrong direction, just like Sophia!
Bravo Ms. Reynolds! You got me.
👏🏆👍👍

Now the second twist has to do with the romance between Lucifer and Eleanor.
On that one, I just have to say......
It's about time roles reversed. Because no matter what Lucifer's other reasons for what he decided in the end, his main and reason was for Eleanor.

The adult romance scenes are superbly written and not overdone.
Lucifer sets this story on 🔥.

The world build and character build is spot on.

LOVED IT!

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!

The cover definitely fits with the rest of them like works of art that should be appreciated.

This is the 11th book in the series (not counting novellas). This series is for adults who are not of the faint of heart. There is violence and love in spades.

I really love D.B. Reynolds writing style. Her books are packed with action, intrigue, and baggage to go with the vampires’ long lives. I’m always intrigued and never want to put the book down whichever one it is. Her humor written through makes me laugh. She always takes you on an emotionally journey.

Lucifer and Eleanor’s story is just as fantastic as I find each story to be. This story mostly takes place in Canada in Sophia’s territory. I don’t want to give anything away, so read the blurb and if you are intrigued, you definitely want to read this book.

I highly recommend the entire series to vampire fanatics who understand the powerful relationships with vampires. In this series, there is NEVER a dull moment!

A great entry in this series. The vampires from Europe continue to come to North American to attempt a takeover of the continent. Raphael and the Council will not allow this. In this book, Colin Murphy, the human mate of Sophia, the Lord of Canada, is kidnapped and being tortured by a traitor. Aden, a vampire Lord, sends Lucifer, a hunter to help Sophia locate and rescue Colin. Attempting in the rescue is Eleanor, a trusted fighter for Sophia. Lucifer and Elle have a history together with misunderstandings involved but they remain very much in love with each other. They figure out how to work together for the goal of Colin's rescue and the culminating battle for control of Canada.

These characters are great. I loved Lucifer. You see the future Lord he will be yet we also see the humanity that remains in him. Eleanor took a little bit to warm up to, but in the end I did like her. Especially after she told Lucifer her back story and why she left and why she thought the way she did. In the end, she was a great fighter and help to Lucifer and Sophia. We also get a hint of Raphael's next move in the war with the Europeans. I love this series!

With such an exciting name as the title of the book, I sure as hell never expected such a boring couple. I read it all the way to the end just to see who took Murphy! 2.5 stars

This book is book 11 in this series. I do admit that I read the first two in the series years ago. I can't quite remember why I did not continue with the series, most likely I was tired of the vampire genre at that time. Nevertheless, I felt confident when reading this book that I would be able to follow along. It can be read as a standalone but I will admit that I didn't enjoy it as much because I didn't know the majority of the characters. I didn't have that investment in them that was suppose to hold my interest when the side stories were being told.

As for the main couple, Lucifer and Eleanor, I felt that their story was gypt a bit. We've been told that they knew each other 20 years ago. That's where their connection and true love begins. We have a few flash back scenes but the do not do justice to show the connection and relationship development that I thought was needed to care about these two characters. The whole thing is glazed over. We're just suppose to accept their past relationship and move on after some conflict. I felt the angst was built up and then deflated like a poorly inflated balloon. I would've been patient and listen to their very beginning but the author spent more time on secondary stories that had already had their own book (apparently) then give Lucifer and Eleanor a story of their own.

The book was just ok. As an outsider looking in it felt a little like a stepping stone. Which is fine if that was it's intention.

Lucifer is a cocky one, “Cara, there is nothing little about my p***k.” Lucifer waits for no one, "Lucifer slapped her *** smartly. “Time to shower, bella. The world awaits.” I loved when Lucifer was crass, "Lucifer thought about it, and said, “Sure. Go ahead. But make it late enough that we don’t have to rush. I want time to feed and eff.” She gasped in feigned shock at his crudeness, but there was nothing feigned about the blush that heated her face. He stroked a finger over her hot cheek, and grinned. “The two activities often go together, bella.” I loved this book, this is my new favorite out of the series.
