The first three Grizzly Cove books – All About the Bear, Mating Dance, and Night Shift – were all books with potential, but they failed to deliver.

Each book is a quick read, ensuring the story can be completed in no time at all. In addition to all being quick reads, they all share the same downside – they do not have the depth and tension they could. There’s a lot of information dumping and a lack of tension, which meant I never fell for the story.

All in all, Grizzly Cove did not work for me.

I'm Moving to Grizzly Cove!

Grizzly shifter John Marshall known as "Big John" has had big plans in the works for years and now they are coming to fruition, he managed to convince his old unit of former Special Ops team to join him in building an Arts Community and called the small town of bear shifter Grizzly Cove.

After allowing 3 human sisters Nell, Ashley and Tina Baker to open a bakery in their small town, things start to take shape in the form of all 3 of them finding the love of their lives in Sheriff Brody Chambers, Attorney Tom Masdan, and Deputy Zak Flambeau...

It all started with a drunk Aussie koala bear shifting in the girls bakery, but it couldn't have been a better opportunity for Brody to finally ask Nell out...Tom had never been to the bakery shop in the months it had opened, but he had done a background check on the girls and approved them. Now that it was out that they were shifters, it was up to him to make sure the other 2 girls weren't going to blab to the world about shifters, but once his bear got a look at Ashley, he knew they had nothing to fear, she was his mate. Besides the 2 girls already knew since they had been ogling the hotness in secret from their roof when some of them shifted. But the best stakeout was the one Deputy Zak had of Tina because his bear really liked the honey buns they made at the bakery, not to mention Tina too.

More supernatural and not so supernatural will come together with the residents of Grizzly Cove to solve the big mystery, what dark creature is living in the waters of the Cove?

I only made it through the first book (volume?). It was only 10 chapters. Enough said.

There was no real intro to the story, a simple premise in the prologue introducing the town -not characters - then we jump right in. This seemed like an outline, and the author needs to go back and expand and fill in all the detail.

The relationship literaly went from shop owner and patron, to I've always wanted you but wouldn't allow myself, in 0 to 60.
I need a hint about how you feel before you're in a lip lock.

At the end one of the characters gets shot, but it literally puts it just like that - he was shot in trying to stop a drunk koala.
Tell that like it's actually part of the story, give this a scene AT LEAST, in the book.

Oh, and engaged on the first date. Again, enough said.

**update**

Read volume 2... It was a better effort but still needs work. We got a couple of dates and some minor drama before the forever happened this time. The bit about the bears chasing the guy off was funny - again we should have has so much more detail on this, it could have been that much better.
The part where book#1 dude gives advice about "taking things slow"... was a joke, at least it should have been. He gave it a whole 12 more hours...

Declarations of love:

"I love you, Tom. You're a heck of a great guy."

Really?! Oi. 😒😑

Yet I keep reading...

2.333

I rated the first three books in this series 2.5, 2, 2.5. So, it's an average of 2.33 for the compilation. I also had essentially the same review for eah of them--> Short, shallow, repetitive, and hokey. But cotton candy sweet if you're into that sort of thing. Mechanical wring and editing seems fine.

While not poorly written, these stories are just not my cup of tea. When I pick up a paranormal romance novel I want my socks to be blown off by the sex scenes... The sex scenes in these books were mildly lukewarm at best. Like I already stated, it wasn't badly written, it just had no passion.

I absolutely loved this boxed set! This author has piqued my interest, and this is almost a tease, giving me a thirst for more of Grizzly Cove and its wonderful inhabitants. I am looking forward to reading more of this series from this very talented author.
All About the Bear
I am excited to have had the pleasure of reading this book, written by a new author to me. Bianca D'Arc has gifted us with what I believe is the beginning of a wonderful series, Grizzly Cove.
Nell is relatively new to town, having fought for the right to set up a bakery with her two younger sisters, in the town of Grizzly Cove. Needing a fresh start after the deaths of her parents, then her grandparents, she moves her sisters across country to settle down in the quiet cove. Blissfully unaware of the many secrets the town holds, she not only settles in, but can't stop eyeballing the hunky sheriff, Brody. From the first time he laid eyes on the new baker in town, Brody has found every excuse possible to go by her shop, or drop in for lunch. He wants to get closer to Nell, but with his secret well hidden, he's afraid to start something he won't be able to continue.
This is a cute and funny tale, full of hot bears and beautiful humans, and neither species can fight the hands of fate, as we follow the story of these two. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Mating Dance
Ashley is on the run from a devastating event in her past, desperate to hide out where nobody can find her. After given an opportunity to open up a bakery in the town of Grizzly Cove with her sisters, they not only set up shop, but quickly discover that all is not as it seems. And, sometimes, secrets catch up to you. When Tom, the town’s only lawyer comes to her rescue, it would appear that sometimes, all it takes is for a special someone to believe in you, to make all the pain disappear. After having stayed clear of the three human women since they arrived in town, Tom is beginning to wonder why it took him so long to check them out in person, especially when his bear stands up and takes notice of one in particular. Now all he has to do is convince her she’s all his. Will her secrets keep them apart? Or will it be the catalyst that brings them together?
Night Shift
The youngest of the three sisters, Tina, suddenly finds herself a “babysitter” of such, after a harrowing experience in the bakery late one evening. Since both of her older sisters have been swept away by their mates, Brody, her new brother in law, and the town’s sheriff, has tasked his deputy Zak with making sure that Tina is kept out of harms way. But when trouble suddenly shows up at her doorstep, Zak is more than happy to step in and be the hero. Anything for his mate, even if she doesn’t know it yet. Tina has had the hots for the young deputy since the first time she laid eyes upon him, but wonders if he feels the same or not. If he doesn’t show interest soon, she just might have to take matters into her own hands, and just maybe, jump his bones! Will trouble keep this pair on their toes and running, or will it bring them together, the way Fate seems to have arranged?

Nice, but not great

My Rating System
5 stars--WOW
4 stars--would read again
3 stars--was good, won't read again
2 stars--read it, but didn't enjoy it
1 star--didn't finish, it was so awful

These were novellas, each a little longer than the one before; that means we miss most of Nell's and Brody's courtship. The stories were nice. In this magical world, fated mates aren't known right away, which means their Goddess gives them some choice. The plots get better with each book. The personalities are almost interchangeable. I would've loved more scenery; not many of us get coastal small town experiences.

The reason I won't read them again is because I don't like being told how to feel. I put myself in the girl's position and my husband in the boy's. This author tells us how the characters feel, rather than showing us, which means I have to feel what they feel. Here's an example: “'I’ll be okay, baby. Trust me.' The silence dragged while their gazes stayed locked, unspoken words of concern and reassurance passing between them.” Compare that with this: “'I’ll be okay, baby. Trust me.' Keeping her eyes on him, she reached out to stroke his face. He grabbed her hand and held it there, then pressed a quick kiss into her palm.” The same feelings are conveyed, but I get to choose.

Do I need to read books before this one: no
Would I read more of the series: no, though Hiram intrigues me
Cliffhanger: no, though the sea monster mystery isn't resolved

POSSIBLE TRIGGERS
Sex: multiple scenes, nudity from shifting
Language: 16 F words, 22 Lord's name in vain, 8 S words
Violence: drunken fight with gunshot wound, reported theft by intimidation, sea monster attacks, blood, vampire drinking

FAVORITE QUOTE(S)
The conflict of the adversarial process annoyed his inner bear and made him want to scratch, claw and just beat his opponent into submission rather than wait to hear what some old guy wearing a dress and sitting on a podium had to say.

Ashley was about to scream in frustration. If Tom didn’t make a move in the next five seconds, she was going to jump him. Oh, to hell with five seconds!

CRITIQUE (spoilers)
Whatever happened to Seamus?

Why haven't any of the raptor shifters come to visit the sisters after what they've seen?

I don't understand why reporters would still be interested in Ashley. It's old news.

A new lawyer wouldn't be handed a billionaire's case unless the billionaire specifically requested it; even then, all the newbie's work would be reviewed by a senior lawyer. Also, who wants to be promoted to the bottom rung of the ladder?

Ashley says law was work, baking was fun. Then she lets Tom talk her into considering going back into law.

Wouldn't it be safer for the 3 women to shelter in Brody's home than in Tom's? Brody's is farther away from the water and it has an escape tunnel. Why put that into the book if not to use it?

*Insert heavy sigh here*
I don't like reading bundles from one author... Just for this reason alone- the books in them - they are all the same. The structure is just the same - some ooops happens, girl meets a guy, the guy goes all "Could she be my mate?", then he takes her to dinner/lunch, then they have sex (because the guy need to have sex with her to know if she is his mate), guy has "huh, she really is my mate" moment, then some more ooops happens, then ILYs & HEA. Booooooring.
Sure the "oops"are changing, kinda. But it is still feels the same. If you change the packaging, the gift is still the same, regardless of what color the wrapping paper is.

And the things I hated most about this?
* Repetitive descriptions ("Oh, I bought this land for my house/land to create family, it is so pretty, cove this and cove that, garden that, garden this, the roof garden that, the roof garden this"), repetitive scenes, especially date scenes with the whole meal then sex thing, and HEA scenes with all the teary eyed ILYs etc.
* I love the idea of "One True mate". I just love it. That is the main reason I read paranormal. But the whole "I have to have sex with her to know for sure if she is my mate"? Repulsive. It is a lame hook up line if I have ever heard one. Makes the whole "one true mate" thing unbelievable. It sounds like promoting sex on first date, because if you don't know for sure if she is your mate (by trying her skills in bed on first date), then why bother with having more dates, right? "Hey, I just met you, but do you wanna have sex? If all goes well, you can be my mate. If not, then sorry, but you are not and we should not continue this." The lamest pick up line ever. Totally disgusting and repulsive.
* And the fact that girls are all okay with that attitude? Also repulsive. Not mention how these strong females turn into crybabies at the first sign of trouble, although they were supposedly these strong heroines who packed up their life and moved across the country to start fresh just to protect a sister. But of course, a big strong man comes along and they all turn into a blushing, tittering, crying mess with "no one has ever made me feels like this" and "first time in my life I feel this safe". Gag, gag, gag.

These stories were short (as to be expected), but didn't have a lot in them. They were good, but forgettable. Nice for a quick short read. I liked them overall, but nothing really stands out to me. I will continue reading them.

The first three books of the Grizzly Cove series in one set promised hours of entertaining reading about sexy shifters, steamy scenes and possibly some nice plot to go with it.
I was a bit disappointed, I must admit. The protagonists were nice and likeable (and hot) enough, but the storytelling as such left a lot to be desired.
The author lost herself frequently in descriptions of items or situations which were completely superfluous and unnecessary to the story (do we really need to know tissues were actually napkins from some restaurant the male protagonist visited if he is about to console his crying damsel in distress?); in my opinion, they interrupted the flow at times and were more annoying than helping. Then there were not enough dialogues, especially in the first book, to sort of "liven up" the stories, most was narration of what was going on and how the protagonists felt, or what they thought - that makes for a story bordering on boring.
Plot - I am sure there were plots, such as "oh let's have sex with the nice lady and see if my bear thinks she's my mate". Really? Side plots seem to have been hints at the bear shifters' past in a military environment, and them fighting against evil magic - I understood at first they served in the U.S. Army? The connection was not made clear enough. The introduction of a vampire and an evil creature in the last book did not help to make the story more interesting.
So - all in all, a bit disappointing, regarding plot, characters and narration style.

So I read these a while back, then Amazon let me know they were available for Audible upgrade. I hadn't even remembered the stories, or reading them, so I was happy to reacquaint myself with Grizzly Cove.

These are sweet. Like, give you a toothache sweet. For me, they were TOO sweet.

When it comes to shifters, I prefer instantaneous "mate" recognition. The bear/werewolf/whatever see's her and BAM. He's found her. She's the mate he's been searching for!
These guys have been around these girls for a while. There's an attraction, but they're not quite sure if she's "the one." In one of the books, the guy thinks he won't know until he sleeps with her.
Meh.
Whatever.
To me, one of the magical moments in the paranormal romance stories, are when that instant "need" explodes from just that one look.
Not at all here.
I also prefer my shifter to be a bit more... Alpha. These guys are basically big, soft teddy bears. (pun intended)

So if you like your heroes: Sugary sweet, laid back, thoughtful, cautious, and non-pushy, then this is definitely for you.

These stories weren't bad at all, they were just OK. They just didn't wow me.

4/5 for narration.

Tale's of the Were, New String.

It's been a while since I've read a Bianca D'Arc book & this Anthology of the bear's of "Grizzly Cove" has just made me want to start right at the beginning again with the "Brotherhood of Blood" series,, which thankfully I have in my paperback library, along with her "Lord's of the Were" & "Redstone Clan" series.
It seems to me that this is another string that connect's each series together , building up to a major confrontation between Good Vs Evil.
This anthology started out slow, a newly built town, run by Bear's, 3 Baker sister's (human) pun intended, & their introduction to the world of shifters & their mate's.
It wasn't until half way through the 3rd story that things really started to ...... while now, you'll have to get the book & read or judge for yourself, let's just say a Master Vampire swam to town.
I did enjoy reading the start of, to me a new series from the "Tale's of the Were" & will definitely be following through with "Alpha Bear" John's story, as well as catching up on all that I have missed.
Way to go Ms D'Arc, sorry it's been a while, but you've re-caught my attention.

Excellent Start!

Each book in this set was very good but, I think as a series with an on-going good vs bad theme that it's excellent.

The 1st book has the older of 3 sisters being the mate of the Sheriff. Nell & Brody's story was very good & also had some good sex scenes.

The 2nd book has is about the middle sister, Ashley & the town's lawyer, Tom. Ashley's bad guy was a reporter who wanted to drag out her past mistake as a newbie lawyer that accidentally got someone killed. But, of course you're going to have to read the book to find out what happens in this book.

The 3rd book is about Tina, the youngest sister & the Deputy, Zak. In their story & at the beginning of it too you get to meet the local vampire master after he was seriously injured by the bad thing in the ocean part of the cove.

Again, overall this series is excellent.

3 Enjoyable reads

I enjoyed each one of these books, but I think I enjoyed the first one the most. Each book was entertaining and I personally love reading anything that deals with the paranormal, especially vampires and shifters of any kind. The only thing I will say is that I would have enjoyed these books even more than I did, if there had been more action and excitement that involved the bear shifters of Grizzly Cove, as well as the other different shifters that live there. I certainly love reading about romance and when shifters finally find their mate(s) and/or true love. I just would have liked to have read more about the shifters, problems or issues they would have been involved in with other shifters or even vampires than the very little that there was in all 3 books. Overall, I would still recommend this Series to my friends that read Paranormal Romance.

Short, Sweet, and Smutty

This trilogy was an excellent read. It could have been improved by each story being longer in the HEA of each tale, and a bit more detail in the lovemaking: more on what the girls look like, are their pussys clean-shaven, or a dusting of soft, damp curls? What are their breasts like - perky, heavy, are their nipples perched on lovely raised aureolas?

The books are unusual in that (delightfully) condoms are not used, so a bit more on the lovely messy results of that. Tender clean up of her by him, semen trickling down thighs when she stands up to go for a pee...all that sort of thing would endear the guys and girls even more to the reader.
Bianca D'Arc is a master story-teller, and I look forward to reading more from this author.

What a great anthology!! These three books were good on their own but read back to back it really made you feel like you got to know this little town. I liked how protective and nurturing the males were with the sisters.

I really liked the concept of the town and how protective they are of there little sanctuary. I guess the part of the book I was a little disappointed was that they were all so short so the love story moved so fast. If this had been a traditional book, I wouldn't have minded a bit but the fact that they had the added element of being shifters you would have thought at least one of the girls would have had some issues or been a little more afraid.

Loved it

This is a series where you will fall in love with the bear shifters and their mates on Bear Cove. The author has hinted at So many great avenues to continue the series. Three separate stand alone books in this series about three sister finding mates but read in succession it is perfect. This is one that you will fall in love with and be looking for the next book. A bit of romance, and a bit of loving all shaped around a great storyline that is Bear cove. Great stories with fun HEA’s. Happy reading.

Terrific stories about ex-military bear shifters

A group of ex-military bear shifters got together to form the town of Grizzly Cove which became an artist colony. They're Alpha invited bear shifters to come to their town. It until the thtee human Baker Girls open a bakery that fate took a hand.

The characters are unique, sometimes hilarious, but always interesting within their story's plots. The plot has some twists and turns which makes for enjoyable reading.

Highly recommended for paranormal readers. I know I will be buying more books from this author.

Good

I liked the stories. Each Baker sister falls in love with a resident of Grizzly Cove. The shifters are trying to live a secret from the three humans that just moved to town, but that falls apart when a new shifter comes to town.

Three are sweet stories and while we don't get to see a much after the couple's admit to being mates, we get a good idea while they go on a few, fast, dates.

Simple, happy books

The characters were described well so you could almost picture them and you definitely want things to go well for them. It's obvious that this is the start of the Grizzly Cove tale. The books were short and you could see there was more to be told. Each book had a satisfying HEA for now but left room for the rest of the story. Recommend and if you like shifter stories you will likely enjoy.

Very good

I enjoyed this story very much. It's about a town made up of people who shift into bears, grizzly bears, black bears, polar bears, etc. They are good people living and making a life for themselves in a beautiful place. They allow three sisters (human) to open a bakery in the town. Men bears and ladies meet and things happen naturally. I hope you'll read this book and like it. Happy Reading.

Unfortunately all 3 stories were just about the same except the last one Now we have a destructive creature in the cove. Which leads to the next book. This was a great twist. I don’t want spoil any thing but it took down a yacht & attacked our last female at the waters edge WTH her bear having to chew it off before it dragged her out to the cove. Now I need to find out what the heck it was

These are three short stories about the grizzly bears in Grizzly Cove. In this volume, three human bakers are allowed to move to Grizzly Cove and open their bakery. Bears love honey and these three women make lots of treats for the bears. Two of the sisters catch on pretty quick that Grizzly Cove is full of bear shifters. All three sisters find their bear mates. These stories all include steamy romance and very easy to read with wonderful characters. I will definitely read more of this series!

This was a 2.5. The stories were good with characters that I liked and a good development of the world of Grizzly Cove. The problem is the writer is way too verbose. What could be said in one paragraph took 3 pages. By the time the rambling inner monologue was over, I’d forget what was going on in the dialogue. A good editor could really help because the stories were good.

Great Storyline

Loved the stories that just keep building on each other as they go. The Baker sisters are humans who are finding their hunky bear mates. Not only is there romance in the air, there is a menacing evil lurking in the background that the couples mist deal with. Grizzly Cove is a growing settlement with all kinds of topsy turvy happenings.
