So, I'm going to start of by saying that I didn't love this book the same as I did the first of the series. That said, there were moments of fun foreshadowing that I picked up on that held glimmers of the first book's charm. I just think it wrapped up too quickly for me. Also, while I think Cedric and Felix are nice enough I wanted Jane to spend more time with Bridget, Bibi, or even Mimi.

Gave up on this one, made it to page 18. Perhaps I just don't care for the James Bond theme? The writing was tiring and uninteresting, and life is too damn short.

I love Mabel Maney! She takes my childhood and puts a lesbian spin on it (not that it didn't already)! I prefer the Nancy Clue books but the Jane Bond books are entertaining and hilarious...
that said...
this book was a little long winded and it kinda got off track a little and delved too much into the areas that were not the main part of the plot. The cooking convention took center stage more than the story of Agent 007 and 1/2 and the "spy" convention... very interesting but it got kinda bogged down about half way through and I kept getting confused on who was who and what was where, etc...

I think this book would make a great movie and it would probably translate better if you could visualize the story unfolding in all its parts...

Not a must read but it is funny and who doesn't like to make fun of James Bond!

i realized i can't read book without an immediate hook. like a good song, i want to like it within the first few notes. i wanted to like this lesbian spoof on james bond so much that i even suffered many chapters more into it than i wanted to, just hoping it would get interesting.... or at least sexy. isn't that why i'm reading a lesbian spoof on james bond?!?! but after pages and pages of boring description and no action i had to give up. so who knows, maybe this book got really good right after i stopped reading, but i couldn't waste anymore time on it. yeah, i tried reading on vacation even.

oh well, classic literature is is not.
