Rate this book
On the eve of her wedding, Sky Elizabeth, the earl of Fife’s eldest daughter, learns of her betrothed’s murderous plot against her. As she flees, Sky falls through a mysterious portal in time, landing at the feet of a twenty-first-century American knight.

Struan, the bastard son of the earl of Sutherland, escaped death through time’s portal once. Recognizing what has befallen the frightened woman, he vows to protect her even while Sky, with a trace of fae blood in her veins, senses his resentment.

Despite their growing attraction, she’s determined to find a way home to avert a clan war. Though he cannot deny his desire, he fears that helping her return to the past will surely lead to his demise. Oh I don't want it to be over!

I want more! I have loved this series!

I think was the best read out of them all.

I loved Struan. He was just the right mix of all the best parts about a man. Kind, caring, sexy, alpha, strong....oh I could gush for hours! He was such a great character!

Sky was wonderful too. So steadfast almost to a fault. I am glad she found her footing and blossomed to a strong woman.

All the other characters from the series got their face time too. I just want to know more about what happens to them all. I know it might be cheesy to some, but it just was sweet time travel cheesy goodness!

Sad to see it end.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
This is book four in the "Loch Moigh" series by Barbara Longley.
I have not read the other books yet and was able to make it through as a standalone book but I did feel it would have be nice if I had started at the beginning. To help with some of the story/character build up. This was a really sweet, easy and fast read.
Sky Elizabeth we find is trying to escape her betrothed who is out to murder her. Sky while on the run finds herself in a mysterious portal in time. Which takes her to the twenty-first-century where she meets Struan, the bastard son of the earl of Sutherland. Struan too it seems has also came through a time portal. Struan was to help but he thinks this could lead to trouble for him. They both find they are having to fight their feelings and growing attraction. Now we see where their story goes and where they end up.

This book was a fun, quick read. I didn't realize it was the fourth in the series when I picked it up. I think it is pretty close to a stand alone novel, but it would probably explain some of the other characters if you read them in order.

Sky was a fun character, but a little progressive in thinking especially considering what time era she came from. She is very family oriented and has a strong will to do what is best for her family no matter what is best for her. Struan is a stand up guy, but has a lot of inter turmoil. He sends a lot of mixed messages, that is a little annoying, but when the chips fall, he steps in and does what he needs to do.

All in all good story. Some explicit parts… Fast pacing and a some twists and turns. Very good HEA.

I reiceved a free copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

SENSUALITY RATING: Yes PROFANITY; Yes SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS; No Euphemistic "CODE WORDS

GENRE: Historical Romance/Contemporary Romance; Time Travel; Scottish Romance

SETTING: 21st century Virginia; 15th century Scotland

CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: SKY ELIZABETH MacKINTOSH – gift of sensing feelings in other; dedicated to family; nearing the age of 21;

CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: STRUAN SUTHERLAND – committed to being a modern day man; drop dead gorgeous; a blacksmith; has a secret he does not want to share.

SYNOPSIS: Over hearing about death after a wedding, Sky races to inform her father. Instead, she lands in a pile of horse poop in the middle of a jousting tournament. Her rescuer? Struan, a man that recognizes the shimmering of colors that she just fell through.

WHAT I LIKED: A person that likes to stay where he is and the why of his choice.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Katherine was not mentioned very much in 15th century (disappointing); Inappropriate language not necessary in an already great plot.

OVERALL RATING: (5) stars because unlike with book 1,2,3 this book involves the conflict of traveling in time as the plot slowly thickens. Would she; would he; would they?

I loved the Loch Moigh series because of the aspects of time travel, medieval settings, and fey elements of the Sky deserved better than Straun who only cared about what he wanted and gave little consideration to Sky’s justifiable worry about her family left behind in the 15h century. Straun had no future in his former timeline, being a bastard with no prospect, and he had become wholly acclimated to the 21st century. But Sky hailed from a loving family, prosperous family and the vile fiancé’s plot to murder her felt contrived to throw her in the future and separate her from her family forever.

I prefer medieval time travel plots that are focused in medieval settings. There are scored of stories set in the contemporary world, therefore, there’s nothing really new to discover. Also, I find it sad that two families, though long dead, lost two children to the future, never to know why Sky and Straun just disappeared from their relative timelines. I’m disappointed because this is not how I expected this wonderful series to end.

So this is the last book of the series. I didn't know till some days earlier that the trilogy i have read several years ago, had a 4th book. It was a bit weird to read True's and Malcolm grown up daughter's book when she was just a child at the last book!
The book is a quick easy read with beautiful characters. You love the chemistry between Sky and Struan!

I love the Loch Moigh Time Travel series by Barbara Longley. Book 4 is the story of Sky Elizabeth Mackintosh eldest daughter of the Earl of Fife, which we meet in bk 1. After over hearing a plot to murder her by her betroth Sir Oliver of Clan Erskine and his lover Lady Alice Lunsden. Sky flees from castle Kildrummy to find her father and brother to them that she won't marry Sir Oliver and about the plot to marry her just for her handsome diary. Then murder her. Sky flees right into the time travel portal and finds herself in 2014 at the New York Renaissance Fair's jousting field. She is laying at the feet of a Straun the illegitimate son of the 4th Earl of Sutherland. At the age of 14 Straun had been catapulted into the future from the year 1333. So he knows immediately what Skys sudden appearance means. Straun has been raised by the Gordon family and looks on them as his parents and there children as his brothers and sisters. They make excellent secondary characters to this fast moving emotional story. The question is how does Sky get back to her time in order to stop a war? Her disappearance will be considered as a broken betrothal causing a clan war between the Mackintosh's and the Erskines.

Ms. Longley doesn't mince words by adding fillers to her story. She writes well thought out fast paced funny and romantic time travel stories. The Highlander Vow's is a great addition to this series. I fell in love with al the characters. Very good lighthearted romance between Straun and Sky!!

I was grateful to receive a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It took a long time to get into the story and characters, and the medevial dialect. It was worth the wait. Once the characters met in the 21st century I couldn't put the book down. The story was unpredictable, and I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out which century Sky and Struan decided to stay in. I would have easily given this book 5 stars if the first part of the story and been easier to read.

Scotland, 1443, 15th century
America, 2014, 21st century

Sky Elizabeth Mackintosh, the eldest daughter of the Laird of Clan MacKintosh and Earl of Fife of Loch Moigh. She has traces of fae blood and fae powers where she can feel what other people are feeling can tell a lie to the truth As all he women in her family and line have these fae power though in different strains of it as all their powers differ. Sky Elizabeth, has arrived at the man she has been betrothed to since birth, feels nothing for it's an arranged marriage not unusual for this time period especially for the nobility. The marriage is for financial gain and lands which will become her husband's once they are wed, Sky would rather stay at Loch Moigh on her families lands forever to become a healer or a weaver and remain unwed as she wants no bairns ever! She feels her gifts are both a blessing and a curse as they have to keep their powers secret and hidden in these difficult times. For women have little choices as men make all the decisions and could be burned for witchery or sorcery if the fae powers in The Macintosh women were ever found out! This is the main reason she has no desire to deliver children into this world with such a heavy burden to be dealt with.

Still feeling unsettled as she arrived at her betrothed home, Sir Oliver of clan Erskine at Kildummy Castle, and then is horrified to learn on a conversation she eavesdrops on between her betrothed, Oliver and his lover his future plans to murder her after they have been married for a year! His evil plan to murder and manipulate Sky just for her wealth and land has her so terrorized by what she heard Sky sneaks to find her father and brother on horseback! Riding for her life on her horse at breakneck speed, fearing they know she was listening to Oliver's evil plan, Sky is thrown from her horse and is thrown right into a time portal, which lands her in the lap of a gorgeous blonde Knight, in the middle of a jousting tournament! Except one thing - Sky is now in 21st century! New York, in the year 2014 and the middle of a medieval festival!

Struan Sutherland, her Knight knows exactly what Sky Elizabeth just experienced and why she is so frightened! This so called Knight, Struan, ironically is also a time traveler, he too came to the future ten years prior at the young age of fourteen. Struan was in the middle of a battle that killed his sire, would of killed him too if he hadn't jumped in the portal! This scares him to death as he feels this is some type of omen telling him he's been living on borrowed time?

Staring at this beautiful armful stirs all kinds of emotions and memories , so he brings her to his foster family, who adopted him all those years ago. Braun is attracted to her instantly, took Sky in though what he feels for her is anything but sisterly! Yet when he finds out she is an Earls daughter all those old feelings of bitterness, pique, animosity and envy cone flying back. All due to being born in the wrong side of the blanket the bastard son of the Earl of Sutherland! The brings back his tortured childhood memories in full force and how half brothers and sires wife had bullied him and treated him like scum!

He knows in this time it's the perfect life for him as he has a fine black smith business owns land and has a decent bank account. Nobility doesn't even exist in America plus in this time no one cares if you are legitimate or not, as no one labels you by your birth. He knows in the past he will only be seen as the bastard son of an Earl? He will never be good enough to touch Sky, a legitimate Earl's daughter! Struan won't be permitted anywhere near her, definitely will never be allowed to court his precious princess as he affectionally call's Sky!

Sky knows if she does not return home it will cause bloodshed and a clan war and besides missing her kin. She also does not want to leave Struan since opening her heart to him. Yet she does not want him to leave his wonderful life in the 21st century, knowing how dangerous the past can be. Plus the fact Struan is keeping a secret from Sky she is not aware of and either way someone is going to end with a broken heart!

Can Sky's chivalrous blond knight turn his back on his Princess? Can Struan leave his loving 21st century foster family, the family he had always wished and dreamed about in the 14th century but never had? Plus he promised The Gordon's his foster family who took him and have loved treated him like a blood son for the past decade that he would never leave! Talk about being between a rock and a hard place, what will Struan choose? Could it be possible that both Sky and Struan will end up with their young tender hearts destroyed broken to pieces? What truly devastating and difficult decisions Sky and Struan need to make! To find the answers and more I recommend you read this magnificent and astounding read.

Wow! Wow Wow! Feuding Clans, missing Laird's daughter and heiress, time portals, landing in gorgeous Scots lap, racing against time to prevent bloodshed! Star crossed lovers that readers will root and cheer they accomplish a happily-ever-after!

As Barbara Longley does it again in her fourth novel of her wonderful best selling Loch Moigh series! It is another exhilarating, fast paced, page turning, riveting, time-travel adventure, with characters that glide off the pages and right into your heart! Fans of the Loch Moigh series, do not want miss it, if you are new to the series - not to worry as you can easily read "The Highlander's Vow" as a stand alone book as well. Another unforgettable shelf keeper that had me glued to my seat, I read in a day as I simply could not put this book down!

Highly recommend "The Highlander's Vow"by Barbara Longley and hope she continues to write more novels for the magnificent "Loch Moigh" series as I absolutely love them all!

A good read.
I confess, I skipped a few chapters because in my heart of hearts I wanted them to have a different place ending than the one I actually read.
Don't shoot!

Of course Barbara Longley did not disappoint. Her writing is as riveting as all the other books of her's I have read. I will miss the Loch Moigh bunch. Here's to hoping they'll pop up again. Or their descendants & the fae at least. Better yet! Their forebears & Hunter's Clan! 😍

But I digress, 'The Highlander's Vow' pulled me in and took my poor heart on a rollercoaster ride. I would totally recommend this book to any & everyone of you Romance Addicts like yours truly. This book is not a 4 star for me just because of...feelings. I've become attached to the 15th century bunch! And because of that (feelings) I also didn't want it on my 4 star book list. But from a non-biased eye? Yep, it's a 4 star book. Give it a read. You'll not be disappointed.

Adios & Happy Reading, folks! xx

(I think I'll up my rating to a 4 later. I'm still a bit...feelings.)

The mechanics of time travel take a dramatic turn in this one, and honestly, I'm torn. Admittedly, I go cross-eyed with longing at the thought of at-will time travel. Nonetheless, I'm not sure how well it works to rewrite the engine driving the series in the fourth and final book.

Time travel mechanics aside, I do applaud the author for recognizing the wisdom of ending a series before it becomes repetitive. As a reader, I felt comfortable weaving a fourth member of clan MacKintosh into the narrative. There were some themes that were familiar from previous arcs, but the circumstances were sufficiently different to feel fresh. I'll be interested to see what the author's other books are like.

Sky's the Limit

This final book in the Loch Moigh series is exciting, moving and a great ending to a highly entertaining series. Lady Sky is about to be wed to a rival clan's heir when she is transported through time to the twenty first century. She literally lands on Struan, a medieval blacksmith and swordsman. Their coming together is hampered by several issues that haunt them both, even as they slowly fall in love. Will they remain in the twenty first century, return to Sky's time, or part forever? Or course, everything is ultimately resolved, but in an unexpected and innovative way. A great ending to a great series!

A Great Kindle Unlimited Series

I enjoyed reading the Highlander series so much, I binge read them with Kindle Unlimited. These stories allowed me to escape this depressing pandemic by living vicariously through the fascinating lives of of these families and individuals who lived in the dangerous era of 15th century Scotland. Well written and so sad there isn’t another book, I hope more are coming.

Ini adalah buku terakhir dari seri The Novels of Loch Moigh, pastinya banyak para pembacanya yang berharap banyak dengan kualitas buku ini, begitupun dengan harapan saya dan ternyata kisahnya sangat menakjubkan meskipun mungkin terkesan good old fashioned love story for some reader.
But for me it's an enchanted read!

I just finished book 4 of this series. Wonderfully written. Drama, comedy and adventure. These books catch your attention and hold it. Finish one book and you won't want to wait to read the next. Barbara Longley is now in my list of favorite authors like Johanna Lyndsey, Nora Roberts, Fern Michael's and a few others.

Totally Loved It 5+*

Well this book four was by far the best story. Although I truly loved all the previous storylines, the creative time travel the author allowed us to feel as though it would be possible for anyone to have the experience. I sure hope we can read more in the future. I could actually see a modern chef stirring up things in the past 😇. Definitely recommend.

Happy ending to saga

This 4th book of the Loch Moigh series continues the stories of the 15th century MacKintosh clan. The time travel of Sky Elizabeth MacKintosh takes her to 21st century America where she meets 14th century Scottish warrior Struan. While their story is completely predictable, it is still entertaining. Enjoy!!

Another great read. Loved this novel.

chose this novel based on the previous ones in the series and I wasn't disappointed. The characters were believable. It was nice to read about old characters and then meet new. Being about Sky was very different as she was only a minor character in the last novel, but one of the main ones now. Would highly recommend this book

Magical read.

Such a good Read. I think this is the fourth time in several years that I have read this series. The touch of Magic in each book adds another dimension to the characters and the story. Well done, Barbara Longley! I have often thought this would be a wonderful series to continue with other characters you have introduced. I would definitely read them.

I had a hard time finishing this book. The other men in this series were acceptable love interests. I didn't love them but they were fine, so with Struan, I was thinking he has lived in the 21st century most of his life he must be more with the times... tell me how he managed to be so freaking annoying.
While Sky was worried that her family might be dead or soon be killed in the 15th century and trying to get back and save them, Struan was only thinking about bringing Sky back home with him, absolutely no compassion for Sky or her family. I hate how he was so reluctant to help Sky and only thought about his own feelings. The man was unbearable, loved Sky she deserved a better love interest.
