Now this is everything I like in a book. A good guy who gets betrayed but manages to come back to everything he's worth. This was a really good story and I really enjoyed it.

I don't think there are any faults with this story other than I wish that it had been longer. Still you can't really fault a faerie tale for that. Longer than most, enjoyable, and I had a smile on my face the whole story. Really well done, and I recommend this one.

Heinel really had one hell of an adventure. His father unwittingly sold him to a dwarf for gold, he outwitted the dwarf by faking his death, he was abused by people and then rescued a princess, married her and became king, did not listen to his queen, got betrayed by her, outwitted giants, got revenge on his wife, killed the royal guests who mocked him. That was a lot for one story and one lifetime, well, in a fairy tale.

I liked this story well enough but I thought it was not as good as some of the other fairy tales. I almost gave it 4 stars but I think it would barely make a 4 so I will settle on 3.

The original tale is much better but also darker then the version kids see.

It is different but not that different from what you might remember from first hearing this tale as a kid.

The plot here are very good but also dark which is the mix which I personally like a lot.

The writing style here was very old and you could feel the vibe of old the Europe which was amazing for me.

his is one of the longer and more complex Grimm Brothers tales. The reader meets the protagonist as a younger child after his father makes a promise to an evil imp. The father manages to thwart the imp, but the boy sets off on a series of adventures, which includes rescuing an enchanted princess and besting a group of giants. This does have some passages that could be seen as racist.

The way there was no happy ending. I kept reading it and it didn't get better. He murdered his whole kingdom becuase he messed up...okay. Now I must go find a meaning to answer this discussion post. LMAO

I had to keep restarting this one because it's a bit convoluted.

A very hard-to-follow story with so many untied loose ends.

A note: this story mentions "an ugly black dwarf" and "12 sailors with black-faces", rare for a Grimm tale. I seriously doubt this refers to a person of African descent; since most of Grimm's tales are from medieval Europe - a feudal society devoid of slaves. Instead this might mean olive skin, akin to what Ireland today calls "the black Irish."

Still, a badly written story.
