I'm going to keep this brief, as there are only three things that I have to say about this volume:

1. The expressions are still as dull/weak as they were in the first volume. I understand that every mangaka has their own artstyle, but it is very distracting when a situation's supposed to be dire and the characters involved only look mildly concerned. Also the villains do not look nearly as intimidating as they could due to a lack of expression. I will say though, the artwork is pretty good and the witches look cool.

2. The pacing is way too fast. In the span of one volume readers started with him becoming Kagari's apprentice to him getting attacked by one of the big baddies, to him now living with Kagari, to him fighting against ANOTHER big baddie. I'm not sure how long the series is projected to be, but even by most manga standards this is way too fast. I can't appreciate any growth/depth the because the story is so focused on finishing as soon as possible.

3. This is super personal, but I don't feel any attachment to the characters or feel anything that is going on. I know there are some emotional moments that I'm supposed to care for, but I plain and simple don't.

Sorry that this is so negative. This is a pretty good series, but it's not doing anything for me. I have up until volume 5 so I'll probably continue to that point but I doubt I'm going to finish this series.

Finally getting back to this series after a few years, and I don't know if it's because I read the first volume awhile ago or what, but something just feels off. The story is either told through the broadest strokes possible (medusa is a thing, Takamiya's sister is also a witch), or else it's perfunctory fluff that almost feels like it belongs in a gag manga (here come those zany Tower Witches again, wonder what mischief they're up to this time). Meanwhile, any meaningful details that would flesh things out are missing. The end result had me feeling like I was just sort of along for the ride, without any real connection to anyone or anything going on during it. It feels like anything can happen, but not in a fun, unexpected way; more in a "no rules have been established, so anything goes" way. And that's just not doing it for me.

The second volume turned this story from an interesting take to an engaging read, all while continuing the beautiful art style. Honoka is pushing forward into developing himself to meet challenges that face him, while still being protected by Kagari full time. This bit of small but important character development is quickly pushing Honoka out of tropey "clueless average high school guy" territory and into an interesting character himself. It was both amazing and refreshing how quickly this series grew on me.

Jilid kedua mengubah cerita ini menjadi bacaan yang lumayan menarik hhe. Karakter Honoka mengembangkan dirinya untuk menghadapi tantangan yang dihadapinya, yang (tentu sja) masih dilindungi oleh Kagari. Kagari yg minim ekspresi, menurut sy penggambaran Mizunagi sensei kurang greget dalam visualisasinya.

Great manga but for one issue

Great manga but for one issue. On page178 where Honoka's mother tells them that Karage is Honoka's fiance . her name is not Honoka. It's Ayaka in the paperback. Still a great book for Kindle.

This volume got off to a slow start but it picked up towards the end. It also has some humor, which I appreciate. There are notes at the end of the volumes; I suggest reading them because they help. An observation: Ayaka looks older than Honoka's mother.

I cannot get into this series. I feel like the characters are far too similar to each other visually. Her breasts also bother me. Not because they are so huge but because there is no definition of the two. It's like one giant boob. It's like such a silly thing to be bothered about but there we go.
