The Devil's Castle (Maou's tiny apartment) has a new resident, and she's still in diapers! With the appearance of the mysterious child Alas Ramus, Maou's household is plunged into chaos. With the Devil as the daddy, and the Hero mommy, playing house just got serious!
At long last, I understand where that baby comes from. Well, sort of. I at least know how she fits in to the story, whereas I was super confused in the The Devil Is a Part-Timer! High School! spin off since I hadn't seen her before.
So this volume pretty much the usual everyday Devil is a Part-Timer... with a baby thrown in. Hilarity ensues. Maou actually makes a pretty good dad. Things have calmed down, so really the drive for the plot is for now just trying to figure out where this baby came from and why. So, cute baby and laughs this time around, not much in the way of battles.
4.5 stars. This book was really funny and cute. It was nice to see new content, as the anime covered volumes 1-5. I really liked seeing Emi and Maou as pseudo-parents here. It was cute. I ship them. It was interesting to see that Suzuno/Bell seems to be developing some romantic feelings for Maou. Anyway, onto volume 7!
Okay yes, the baby is cute but still, I'm just done with this series. I think I'm going to read this only when I want to pass my time in between other manga series or novels.. Cz it is getting pretty repetitive for me.
Re-read: May 2018 This series is so funny! I rarely laugh out loud when I'm reading, but I'm constantly giggling while reading this. I just love this series so much. It's so enjoyable, the art is beautiful, and the characters are so much fun!
I love Alas Ramus, the new character that was introduced in this volume. Because this is a re-read, I already know who she is, but that didn't make reading this volume any less enjoyable. She's so sweet, and she was a perfect catalyst of Emi and Maou's relationship. I don't ship them together, but I really enjoy their interactions.
I really like the supporting characters in this series. Suzuno and Kisaki continue to be personal favorites, but even Sariel is hilarious. He's very, very creepy, and obviously what he's doing wouldn't be okay irl, but as this is a manga, and everything is very over-the-top, I find it very funny. And I'm starting to LOVE Suzuki-san. She's so cool, and I love her crush on Alciel. (Also, I really liked the short, one page stories at the end of this volume!)
I love how intelligent Maou is. He always seems to know more than he lets on, and he's so much smarter than he appears. I feel like he always kind of knew who Alas Ramus was, and that's why he insisted on taking care of her.
I appreciate that the author acknowledged how weird it is for a high-schooler to hang out with a bunch of adult-males all the time. It's good that Chiho's parents approve of Maou and all, but in general it's a bit odd for a 16-year old girl to hang out with a 20 year old guy, cook for him, and take care of his kid. But it works for them I guess. The scene with Chiho, Maou, Kisaki, and Alas Ramus is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. It's part serious and part funny, and it develops all of their characters so well! I also really liked the part when Chi first walked it with Alas Ramus. It was really funny to see what the co-workers said!
I can't wait to read the next volume! I love this series so much!
Original Review This series has been getting better of late. I really like the new characters, and the plot is beginning to move quicker. The romance is still too convoluted for my tastes though. I don't understand who I'm supposed to ship with who. I'm glad that Lucifer and Kisaki are getting more screen time because they're some of my favorite characters.
Another hilarious entry that finds Maou and Yusa in the care of a mysterious baby that for some reason calls them 'Daddy' and 'Momma'. Satoshi Wagahara keeps the laughs going as Maou & Yusa must adjust to parenthood, along with adding an intriguing new mystery in where exactly the baby, Alas Ramus, actually came from (her birth alone fits into the weirdness of the overall story). It's matched wonderfully by Akio Hiiragi's cartoony art, catching all the crazy fun. Great read, especially for fans of the anime, as this is where the manga overtakes the show.
Loved the comics after reading the novel. It was really nice to see pictures of the events and helps connect to the anime which is what turned me on to the amazing literature!
I might be in the minority but I do not like Alas Rasmus at all. This is just a very weird arc for me. There's also the Emi x Maou moments that I just cannot stand. Eh, I really hope Alas Rasmus goes away soon.(Sorry peeps!)
This new volume was so kawaii. The new addition to Devil's Castle makes the series even more fun to read. The new character's name is Alas Ramus and she . Now, the Devil has to figure out what to do with her.
Oh, man, I thought for sure the series had jumped the shark with the introduction of a cute kid. Good lord, I don't need any of that in this series. I honestly thought that I was going to have to drop the series at this point, but fortunately I kept reading
