This book is about a woman named Clara Barton who devoted her time to helping soldiers during the Civil War. At first she was a teacher but when she built her school she wasn't allowed to be in charge so she quit teaching and moved to the city where she found a new job at the patent office. She was fired from that job because she wasn't allowed to vote. That lead to her fighting for her job back. Later on she goes to help soldiers in the Civil War. They called her the Angel of the battlefield.

I think this is a good book. To me it is interesting to read and learn about Clara Barton. I think that she was always a hardworking person who wasn't afraid to fight for what she believed in. I definitely recommend this book. Overall I think this is a really good non-fiction book.

I never heard of Clara Barton until reading this book, so I learned that she was a nurse and helped soldiers in the civil war in the 1960’s. She was a teacher and helped with women’s rights. Became friends with the president Lincoln and started the Red Cross, which is still around today.

This book is very interesting. The book talks about Clara Barton's life as a child and how she became interested in nursing. In also tells students what she did during the Civil War and how she started what is known as the Red Cross. This is a very inspiring story that students would appreciate.

A story about Clara Barton who was an angel who helped both Union, and Confederate. She helped as many wounded soldiers as possible and saved many lives. I thought this book was amazing and i thought it showed lots of detail about how she helped lots and lots of many injured soldiers in the Civil War.

I really enjoyed reading the biography of Clara Barton. Before reading this book I had no idea who she was or what her accomplishments were. The book is set up in an easy to read way and it also has a lot of information about the time period Clara Barton lived.

Read this as one of the possibilities for teaching my students how to read biography. Social studies texts require a different approach than literature or science texts. This is a skill they are going to need to have before going on to high school.
