Yuri-baiting Reiri and Riza is going to make me upset if they don't actually get together at some point. Other than that Reiri chapter I was pretty disappointed by this volume- I thought we'd start going with the plot but it's back to monster-of-the-week format, and with less interesting monsters this time.

The art is so good...

...And the story is no slouch either. Funny and occasionally grim, in an Addams family manner, Mitsunaga seems to absorbed the dreamworld of horror movies, adding a touch that is charming and sweet. Oversized hardbacks would be lovely.

This volume goes deeper into the battle against other royal family members and an interesting story where things are not as they seem...

For the last three volumes I have consistently found this story dull. I’ve not shied away from stating how unoriginal and plain I found everything from the art to the characters. But now, four volumes in, I’m actually finding myself enjoying Princess Resurrection for the first time. I stand by the fact that the characters are very generic and that the fight end far too abruptly but this volume was actual fun. The monsters were more creative, there is actually some suspense (unlike in the previous volumes), and overall this one actually feels more like a horror. There is still barely a plot but the first chapter of volume four actually intrigued me. I hope this is a sign that the series will get better from here!

After three volumes that were mostly monster-of-the-week stories, this one is a bit more focused and spends some time advancing the plot, which I was happy to see. Still, this series is really nothing but mindless escapist entertainment, and volume 4 delivers on that count too, with plenty of thrills and chills, and some laugh-out-loud funny scenes.

Bit weird, bit gory, bit scary (I read this at night and think I had a weird dream as a result...) but I enjoy it. It's exciting and I like the characters and the adventures and battles that they have. :) It's a manga series that I enjoy but one that I'm rather slow reading because I don't LOVE it. It's good and I like it, but it's not a huge favorite.
