Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
Bridget Merrow has almost everything a werewolf could wish for. And it’s not that her awesome family and popular business aren’t enough – she just wants someone to share it all with this Christmas. Too bad the someone she wants doesn’t want her. Or does he?

This was a cute Christmas novella set in the Nocturne Falls series. ❄🎄❄🎄
I always love Kristen Painter books and it was so great to see a future glimpse with more Bridget and Sam. Loved Bridget since the first time Ivy walked into her bar in her and Hank's book. She and Sam have been a little back and forth and have some things to work out in this one, as well as Sam having some thinking to do about where he stands with the fallout from what happened to his father's pack. I really liked that we got more resolution on the Kincaid pack as well, and how things turned out with them.
Enh. This one was just OK. It introduced the stories of characters we've heard about in other books in the series. So, yeah. Not sure if it was because it was a short, or that much of the action was limited to just those two characters interacting with each other alone, in one room that made it a little dull for me. Still, it wasn't bad, so I didn't hate it.
Yes, it’s a cheesy got-my-man-for-Christmas story but I still liked it because it was also a beautiful woman telling a man she didn’t care that he was broke and picking himself back up, she wanted the whole package. The whole hot-as-hell werewolf fireman package, lol.
CHRISTMAS in February - cuz why not (again)? LOL. ------------ Cuuuute. I’ve been waiting for this story since Hank&Ivy’s book. This one seems to have a bit more of a serious vibe than the other books. We get some family background on a few of the characters that we already know. I like that it addresses socioeconomic status differences, and it feels more relatable, despite this being a paranormal book. Anyway, it’s a cute, Christmas short story, and I love Bridget, the protagonist. She’s not afraid to take charge and she’s a no-nonsense kind of girl when faced with an obstacle.
Things that you might want to know (WARNING: Spoilers below) Is there a happy/satisfying ending? Love triangle? Cheating? Angst level? Tears-worthy? What age level would be appropriate?
My biggest issue with this? It too short! I wanted MORE of Sam. And more of Bridget and .... Well just more of all the goodness that is Nocturne Falls.
Painter is a brilliant at her craft and this cute little story is just more proof of it. It's short and quick but one feels instantly connected to the two characters. I fell in love with Sam when he made his first appearance in the series in The Werewolf Meets His Match. And this didn't change one thing, in fact.. I adore him even more. In a few pages we see where the two MCs stand in their lives and we get to witness how they overcome their fears and insecurities. And their chemistry is off the charts- again. In The Werewolfs Christmas Wish we get the happy ending we were all hoping for Sam in book 2 of the series. I also got another glimpse of the Ellingdales- And can I just say: PLEASE for the sake of love let there be books for the two other brothers as well!!
fast & cute read - a good oldie story line, with it's own little twists. Very entertaining and enjoyable. If you haven't read the series, no worries, this does work as standalone as well. Soooo, If you are looking for cute, lighthearted PNR, that is well written and has fab world building- Look no longer.
This was a great little Nocturne Falls story but it left me wanting more. Since the first book in the series, I wanted to get to know more about Bridget and was so hoping she would get a whole book. Bridget and Sam’s story here is quick and light but still Kristen Painter manages to fit in plenty of romance. Also for such a short story there is no denying the chemistry between these two. Bless B.J. Harrison for the ever great consistent voice of the series.
The Werewolf's Christmas Wish is book 4.6 and a short story in between novella. This is the second short story between books 4 and 5.
In this short story, we see how Bridget and Sam get together. Bridget is the owner of Howler's bar and the sister of Nocturne Falls Sheriff, Hank Merrow. Sam is Hank's wife Ivy's younger brother.
I really like both of these characters and really like reading about them. My only complaint is that I really wish we would have had more time with both of them, especially Bridget. Thankfully, I think we will probably see her at times throughout the rest of the series.
Bridget owns the neighborhood bar and that's her life. It's Christmas eve and one of her employee's flaked on her leaving her to deliver some alcohol to a N.F. resident. (As Bridget says, he's so fired!). It's snowing and she needs a truck. Enter Sam. There has been attraction between them, Sam believes he isn't good enough for her. I didn't like Sam making choices for Bridget, but Bridget puts a stop to that. I liked her, she doesn't put up with bullshit. I have the feeling that this couple was featured in an earlier book that I haven't read, but I didn't feel like I was missing out. This is a series I mean to pick up (I liked the first book; it was free at one point in time), but haven't gotten around to it yet.
This was an absolutely charming and cute read! Bridget and Sam had a few issues to iron out and courtesy of a walk-in fridge but I think the end results were worth the freezing temps!
The Nocturne Falls series is quickly become a favorite series with the quirky characters, witty conversations, and charming atmosphere-definitely recommend them!
Awww. This was a cute little holiday novella starring the werewolf who owns and runs one of the most popular bars in town. Bridget has a great family and her business is booming, but the one man she has her eye on is keeping his distance.
As you can imagine, that puts a crimp in her social life. Because when a werewolf finds the man she wants, no one else will do.
Good thing her meddling brother sets things in motion that put Bridget and Sam in each others' orbit. Double good thing that Bridget is relentless when it comes to finding out answers. And also that the silly door got stuck and they were forced to spend time together to get things hashed out.
Bridget & Sam started flirting with each other when he first came to town after his sister moved to Nocturne Falls. Then all of a sudden Sam just backed off. Bridget finally decided she wasn't taking no for an answer. I am so excited that Bridget & Sam finally worked everything out and are together now. Getting stuck in the walk in refrigerator was well worth it.
I finally read a Christmas themed story during the Christmas season! It’s rare that I can find a holiday themed read of interest during said holiday, but I quickly learned that I needed to pick up Kristen Painter’s Nocturne Falls novellas and what better one to start with then The Werewolf’s Christmas Wish.
It’s been too long since I last visited Nocturne Falls, but this little Christmas trip was absolutely perfect! Though not much in the way of action, this story definitely develops yet another couple in a possible happy place. It’s hard to label it HEA when they are only just finding their relationship.
Bridget has been crushing on Sam for a good while now, and she thought that he liked her too. Until he came back from the fire academy and would barely look at her. Then on Christmas Eve she gets a phone call saying that the richest vampire in town, Elenora is without her champagne order. Ready to strangle her new help, Bridget promises to get it delivered up asap, but in order to do that she needs to borrow a firetruck from her brother and the only firefighter left at the station is none other than Sam.
What quickly follows is a mishap that leave these two werewolves locked in a freezer with no possible way out until someone discovers that they are missing. And what better use of time then to work out the issues that linger between them?
This little novella was a nice quick read, but sadly it kind of lacked any plot or action. It was in some ways, a simple love story. Which was nice and all, but I wouldn’t have minded a little more conflict. I still plan to check the rest of the novellas out and hopefully get caught up with the series at large soon!
Bridget Merrow has but one Christmas wish, but this was not exactly what she had envisioned. Sam Kincade only had one girl on his mind, but circumsstances and alpha pride makes saying or doing anything about it impossible in his mind. Helping make a missed delivery of champagne to the Ellingham Estate provides the proper setting from facing some cold hard facts that could clear things pub provided they can make it till morning. - Coolly romantic in an ironicly chilling setting. -
Cute, no drama extra short story about Ivy's brother Sam and Hank's sister Bridget from the second book getting together on Christmas due to some forces proximity allowing for a long overdue conversation
Listened to this through Audible Escape. I'll give this 2.5 stars, I couldn't really get into it. It was so short, so there wasn't that much of a plot.
Bridget Merrow has a Christmas wish and that's to spend a little time with Sam Kincaid. Maybe get a little frisky. They are werewolves after all. But Sam doesn't think he's good enough for Bridget. Guess it's up to her to convince him!
A light, cute short novella where Bridget decides to talk things out wth Sam. I really like a woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. Yeah, team.
Excerpt: "I mean we should be friends. We're basically family because your sister is married to your brother. We should at least be able to be civil to each other." Since they weren't going to be making out anytime soon. Regrettably." Excerpt from The Werewolf's Christmas Wish by Kristen Painter
What a fantastic christmas short! This book is perfect for a little afternoon reading while your family is off playing with christmas gifts, or sleeping off the thanksgiving turkey! :) I really love Bridget, she's cute, funny, and a hard worker. She doesn't take shit, and she's the daughter of a alpha! What more do you need in a woman? She sets her sights on Sam, and nothing is going to get in her way. This little christmas short was funny, touching, and full of chirstmas cheer. It's too perfect for words, and I loved it! It's available in the Hex the Halls anthology and you need to pick it up! :)
I received a digital copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
When Bridget and Sam first meet, it's instant chemistry. But Sam believes he is not good enough for the Alpha's only daughter, so he tries to keep his distance.
And then in The Werewolf’s Christmas Wish, a series of coincidences (or are they?) throws them together on Christmas Eve, and Bridget has Sam right where she wants him.
No matter the time of year, Kristen Painters’ Nocturne Falls is fun, funny, and beautiful. Once you visit, you'll want to move in.
These are the side stories that are happening in Nocturnal Falls. Bridget has liked Sam, Nocturne Falls newest firefighter. But his emotions are running hot and cold and it's driving her crazy. What she doesn't know is that Sam likes her, but he doesn't think he's good enough for her. She has to show this wolf (and maybe knock some sense into him) that she wants him and only him. The story's short, wish it was a little bit longer. I would like to see the next stories that come out of Nocturne Falls be about Pandoras' sisters.
**I received an ARC from author/publisher in exchange for an honest review**
Well this awesome author has done it again! What a great story. Bridget has always been one of my favorites in Nocturne Falls. She doesn't back down from anyone or anything. My favorite part was when she called Sam so pretty and so dumb. Here he's a big ole alpha man wolf. Lol. This was a really fun read. I want more! Can't wait until next one.
The second Nocturne Falls short story is Christmas-themed, featuring Bridget Merrow and Sam Kincaid, whose initial attraction to each other we got to see in The Werewolf Meets His Match. Sam's a bit of an idiot, but Bridget knows exactly how to push his buttons and get him where she wants him. Glad to see her find love!
2019 bk. 335. Short Story. Bridget is a successful business woman and werewolf, and she is lonely. Sam Kincaid is working to rebuild his life and improve the reputation of his family name. It takes an evening locked away from family and friends for the pair to realize that they can help each other.
Originally published in the Hex The Halls anthology this is a great little Christmas story perfect for fans of the Nocturne Falls series or as an introduction to some amazing characters. Warning - Once you start this series you'll be hooked!! V""V
A short story, 4.6 in the Nocturne Falls magical realism series and revolving around a haven for supernaturals in a small town in Nocturne Falls, Georgia. The couple focus is on Bridget Merrow and Sam Kincaid.
My Take We get a back history on how Bridget came to own a bar. Fascinating. Painter also gives us some background on what Hank and Titus chose to do after high school. Okay, there's some more back history on the Kincaids, and it fulfills everything I hoped for from the end of The Werewolf Meets His Match, 2!
I am enjoying the openness of those Ellinghams. They're not prejudiced against any supe. They welcome the diversity. And it gets paid forward by the characters in Nocturne Falls.
It's a third person dual protagonist point-of-view from Bridget's and Sam's perspectives. Normally, I'd be annoyed by the thoughts they each have about the other, but in this case, it was funny. I suspect that's due to the shortness of the story . . . I didn't have to endure it for a long time *grin*.
It is cute how Bridget takes the insecure Sam on. It's sweet how Sam suffers from his male pride. I understand it, but it's also admirable that he's working this through.
Hmmm, that dust-up with the kitchen helper. I sure hope someone apologizes!
The Story It's a rescue, of sorts. That Dom Pérignon that never got delivered. That set-up by Titus . . . cheeky boy. Then yet another rescue by Julian from that vicious kitchen appliance.
It's, um, fraught with emotions and aggression, lol.
The Characters Bridget Merrow, a werewolf, runs the popular Howler's, a bar and grill. Her brothers include Sheriff Hank Merrow who's married to Ivy (The Werewolf Meets His Match, 2), and they have a son, Charlie. The second brother, Titus, is the fire chief with a fiancée, Zoe, another werewolf and schoolteacher. Their father is the Alpha of the Georgia Pack. Sam Kincaid, Ivy's brother, is a fireman, who's been in Nocturne Falls for a year. The Kincaid's mother has stayed behind in Tennessee.
Juan Carlos is the reliable chef, who's married to Marita. Lenny is a not too reliable new hire.
Nocturne Falls, Georgia, is . . . . . . a haven where supernaturals can be themselves 24/7/365 and is mostly owned by a vampire family, the Ellinghams. Elenora is the matriarch with three grandsons: Sebastian, Hugh, and Julian . . . with the voice! Alice Bishop, a powerful witch, is Elenora's secretary and companion. Frauke is Elenora's chef.
Mummy's Diner is a twenty-four/seven place for great food. The Trevors ate at Howler's.
The Cover and Title The cover is cheery in a mix of holidays with the red-haired Bridget in a short-sleeved gray T-shirt with white trim on the sleeves, neckline, and hem and jeans, her hands in her pockets, standing next to the brown-haired Sam in jeans, a navy overcoat, and a button-down shirt open at the neck. They're both in front of the dark brown bar and the barstools with their red seats and chrome legs and the dark wood floor at Howler's, shelves of liquor on the left against a bright blue walls, a wide dark wood frame for the picture window that takes up two-thirds of the back. A cheery Christmas garland is strung along the top. The bottle of Dom Pérignon on top of the bar is the conflict. The lit-up jack-o-lantern on its black iron stand leans to the right next to the brown wooden sign with the series information. The title is at the top in white with a thick black shadow. The author's name is at the bottom in white with a smokier black shadow. At the very bottom is an info blurb in white.
The title is "The Werewolf's Christmas Wish" by two, hmmm, maybe more, werwolves.
Bridget and Sam the werewolves. This was cute but just not what I look for in a romance story. I prefer the MCs at least both make an effort. Sam was just so... disappointing. He's a nice guy but he didn't make any effort to get the girl. Bridget had to practically wrestle him down to get him to open up. After Sam returns from his home town to move to Nocturne Falls and start his life anew, he is not the same wolf that Bridget remembered. He used to flirt with her and they had serious chemistry, but now he is impersonal towards her and even avoids her... So if you don't mind the woman doing all the work, they are a cute couple and it's a short sweet read.
I listened to the audio which is just over an hour long and the reader, BJ Henderson, was pretty good. Yet, I still don't like the way he makes innocuous comments sound like innuendo all the time. It comes across as vaguely sleazy.
Another short story featuring Bridget, sister to sheriff werewolf Hank from The Werewolf Meets His Match and the owner of the Pub "Howlers".
It's Christmas Eve and Bridget was told that a box of champagne for the local grand-dame wasn't delivered. So she ask her brother, the fire station boss, for a truck to deliver the champagne.
Unfortunately, the truck came with Sam, the brother of Bridget's sister-in-law and now a trained firefighter... who before he went for his training, had been flirting quite serious with her but been quite standoffish since coming back......... that is, until they got stuck together inside a walk-in fridge...
5 STARS for this beautiful sentimental Short that is in conjecture with a supernatural series involving the same wonderful characters & place, Nocturne Falls, GA. That exciting tourist town that celebrates Halloween all year long. It's different and entertaining & the wonderful sexy she wolf runs one of the best restaurant bars there & deserves finally to have some romance with her older brother's in law & new hire of her other brother, at the Firestation.
So definitely RECOMMEND fast read & no explicit sexual acts.
