*My Thoughts*

Fall of Heroes is the final installment in the Galilee Falls Trilogy. Harlow's Galilee Falls has the most superheroes and supervillains of any place on the planet. Protagonist Joanna Fallon is a former Detective who has seen the best and worst of what her city has to offer. When she was a young girl she lost her father to a violent crime and this drove her to depression and a suicide attempt. That suicide attempt lead to meeting her best friend, and supposed soul mate, Justin Pendergast (aka the Superhero known as Justice).
The ending to Justice broke my heart into tiny pieces as well as Joanna's and I was eager to find out how Harlow would resolve THAT issue.

Fall of Heroes was a spectacular ending to the Galilee Falls Trilogy! I really think Jennifer Harlow is the queen of plot twists. She really is. The suspense, the action, the romance it all had me on the edge of my seat!

I absolutely adored the prologue of the book. I don't wanna give too much away but I remember shouting, I KNEW IT I KNEW IT! With a few f-bombs thrown in there as well. So let's say yes, it was a fantastic start. The story just got better and better.

I must admit that I didn't always liked Joanna in the book. I do admire how tough she is but still sometimes I wanted to shake her and ask what heck she is thinking. Still, she's a great character to read about. And I absolutely love her with Jem. I think from all the guys in the book, he is her perfect fit.

The action started when a bunch of supervillains are taken from the prison they're in. Alkaline being one of them. Nobody has an idea who took them, only that it can't be good news. I had a suspicion who it was and I really went back on forth on who this person could be. In the end I was right so it was yet another I KNEW IT moment but still fun to read about.

There were a lot of moments where I thought it wouldn't end well for Joanna and Jem. I had expected a kind of bittersweet ending with the way it was going towards the end of the book.

The writing, as always, was so great. The author never disappoints me with it. And yeah, quite a few plot twists never made the story boring. I loved it!

Jennifer Harlow sure knows how to bring out the emotion. Make sure to have a box of tissues on hand because your heart will break multiple times in FALL OF HEROES.

Joanna has a really tough time in FALL OF HEROES. She has her heartbroken by lies, pretty much falls apart, builds herself back together only to be betrayed by another and then saves the day (and lots of lives) with her allies. I am not sure I could have pulled myself out of the tailspin that Joanna was in, but she did it and came out stronger and determined.

The romance is a bit crazy in FALL OF HEROES. Everyone involved makes a lot of mistakes that blows their lives out of the water, but I think in the end Joanna is with who she is supposed to be with. Joanna grew up loving Justin and they will always be soulmates, but Jem and her really compliment and complete each other. It was difficult watching Joanna go through what these two put her through and I am glad in the end that they were all able to be there for each other.

This series has been jam-packed with action, danger and interesting circumstances. The characters were a huge part of what made this series a hit and I thought FALL OF HEROES was the perfect ending to the Galilee Falls series. I am sad to see it go, but so happy with the way things were wrapped up.

This is the last novel (at least I think so) in the Galilee Falls Trilogy and what a ride! I did not expect such a story. Was the villain easy to deduce? Sure but it does not mean the plot suffered from it.

I like the fact that the villain, in this case, is so... "human". He does rationalise his actions and, at first glance one is almost tempted to believe in his cause but, like Joanna says "Where would it end?" She's right. Take away the rights to one part of society and it won't stop there. The next time, it would be just as rational and so on.

In the case of Jo... I'm not sure I would have actually forgiven. Jem, assuredly. The other one? I'm not sure. But that's me.

One thing about the novel that did bug me was the numerous mistakes. Now, a few here and there, a syntax or grammar error can happen. We're human, after all, and not machines. That said, some of them were misspelled words that were obvious. I think the novel could have done with a bit more editing, honestly.

I really love this series, but I almost didn't finish this book. During the first half of the book, I felt that the main character acted way, way out of character. I felt she became too vindictive and narcisstic, and although she had every right to be upset and angry, I didn't feel her character would be so cruel. For me it didn't fit and it got in the way of enjoying the story. I didn't feel for her. I had to force myself to keep reading, I was disappointed. I would rate the first half of the book 1/2 a star and the second half 5 stars. I felt that the author could have gone about the chartacter's attitude in a different way and still get the character's point across.

Holy crumb. This is one of those books I had to quietly put aside a time or two to give myself a few moments to catch my breath. SO MUCH HAPPENS. Heartache and betrayal and OHMYGOD JOANNA IS ALL KINDS OF MESSED UP. I just... whoa. *reminds self to breathe*

Joanna, of course, stumbles more than once with the crazy thrown at her. She makes some bad choices and she lashes out at those who hurt her. Man, she's brutal at times. And I get why. Totally. She had something fundamental ripped from her and it wasn't pretty. Finding her balance again took time. Coming to terms with the reasoning behind why that something was done took even longer.

But as explosive and hardheaded as Joanna can be, she also can't walk away when people need her.

So she ends up in the middle of the crazy without really trying. And it is glorious.

These books are heart wrenching and painful at times, but they are SO FUN. The heroes may be good guys, but they don't always make the best choices. People get hurt in their battles against the villains. Cities fall. The citizens bleed. And yet, they still keep fighting, because the alternative is to do nothing.

And, like Joanna, they can't walk away when there are people in need. *slow thumbs up*

Such a satisfying conclusion to this trilogy. I have not been this satisfied with how perfectly an author has planned out a series and brought it to an satisfactory conclusion in quite a while. Really love this series. It is absolutely one of my favorite urban fantasy series.

This last book in the trilogy continues a focus of the first two books - the affect of superheroes not only on the people close to them but the people in their cities and the infrastructure of those cities. How many times have you watched a Batman or Avengers movie and seen those big fight scenes where buildings, bridges, and roads are utterly destroyed? But in the movies, it hardly ever matters as its all in the name of the superhero victory. But in this series and especially this book, there are consequences to those actions. Buildings, such as City Hall, are completely destroyed. Due to vast destruction and the constant need for rebuilding, property taxes increase as a result and become the highest in the nation. Children get caught in the line of fire as the "good" superhero battles the bad one and die as a result. There is a lot of suffering in the name of a superhero victory and this book deals with the bitter consequences of this.

I want to say more about this book and add more to this review but I want to reread the whole series again from the start before I finish this.

I give this book 4 fangs

I came into this book new to the series so I was slightly confused and it took a little while to get the hang of what was happening and who everyone was to each other.
That said I loved the book great concept, the super heroes and super villains was a lot of fun to read about. The twists and turns were unexpected and I really felt for Jo she has been through so much but she stays strong even if she wavers every now and then she stands up swinging.
The romance aspect was interesting I didn't have the same history with her past loves as those that have read the whole series but I could tell that it was a complicated bit with Justin and Jem then throw in Bennet. I'm just happy she ended up with who she did.
Action packed, fast paced, romance, mystery murder it's all here. Enjoy.

***I received a ARC for this book in exchange for a honest review***

This book had me on the edge of my seat, literally. As the romance built up and the tension of what will happen, I couldn't wait. The characters developed along the way at a steady pace, along with some twists and turns. I give this book five stars.

If not for the obvious identity of the "mystery" villain, I would've given this 5 stars. This installment is super emotional, very angsty (maybe another reason why I withheld another star because I deplore angsty reads), yet totally touching. Reminded me of that Spider-Man movie with James Franco and Toby Maguire.
