My 12-year-old son read through this book in a day! I write for preteens and teens, so I had to check this one out! This is a great Christian mystery/adventure with lots of action, making it particularly suited for boys. Set in Hawaii, the book has an exotic charm. It's sure to interest those who want to visit the Pacific Isles and those who already have.
In the book, the Christian faith is treated as an everyday part of their lives. The characters pray for help, seek counsel from their pastor and act on their knowledge that there are no ghosts.
Read aloud to my 10 year old. I liked secret of the shark pit better but this was ok. Nothing in this series could be called high quality literature but it's a fun, Christian mystery for kids.
Good little adventure story. Three friends go exploring in the tropical forests of Kauwi where they discover a WWII Japanese fighter and encounter an aging Japanese man who appears dressed as a Japanese warrior of the war. He leaps from the forest brandishing a sword and yelling "Banzai." which terrorizes the boys who run for their lives. Is he real? Is he real? Is he dangerous? Or, is he just a phantom and a figment of their imaginations? Read this little book to discover for yourself.
