Si-renity: How I Stay Calm and Keep the Faith

Rate this book
America’s favorite uncle and bestselling author of Si-cology 1 , Duck Dynasty ’s Si Robertson, opens up about how his faith has brought him peace and serenity throughout his many not-so-peaceful adventures.

Si Robertson has gone from chief duck call maker to beloved star of A&E’s Duck Dynasty . Through his transition, he has remained untainted by the popularity and money, and is the same man he was before stardom—generous, kind, compassionate, and a little bit crazy. Beginning where Si-cology 1 ended, Uncle Si gets much more personal as he talks about his life on the road as one of the show’s favorites, and how he feels about life after the show. Si-renity will be full of Si-style, hilarious stories, as well as an up-close look inside the heart and faith of this loveable fan favorite.

This new book shines a light on the kindness and compassion Si has for children, the military, and the less fortunate. Full of zany, yet honest stories about his day-to-day life on the road, Si narrates the lessons he’s learned about living life courageously and joyfully, and shares his personal source of peace and love for others—both originating directly from his faith in God.

Fans of Duck Dynasty will love this new memoir by Uncle Si, which chronicles his life as a reality television star.

The book has definite religious themes and contains Bible passages, etc. but even nonreligious fans of the show can find something they like. For example, I'm not a Christian and managed to enjoy this book for the fun anecdotes and insider perspective on this unique family.

Si does share many things about his life after becoming famous and how a man who grew up in a backwoods town is handling the national spotlight. (His first book deals more with his personal story, though he does share some family history and stories here) He talks fans, friends, and how he tries to get back at every opportunity.

Some anecdotes are serious, like when he discusses PTSD and veterans, while others are humorous, like when he talks about people not being sure if he is really the "Uncle Si." He also discusses his wife, who rarely appears on the show and many fans don't realize is a big part of his life.

As I said earlier much of it is couched in religious terms, so people fervently anti-religion will not enjoy this book and vice versa - Christians will really enjoy his perspective on faith and the blessings he's been able to receive.

But don't skip this book if you're a fan, but not particularly religious. It's a good look at post-fame Si, and how an ordinary guy is living an extraordinary life.

Uncle Si, of duck Dynasty fame, shares a bunch of stories, some amusing, some inspiring. He talks about duck hunting (of course), fishing, traveling, interacting with fans, poker, and his favorite charities (for kids and veterans). Lots of his trademark (lame) jokes and lots of advice for trusting God. A quick, fun read.

Si Robertson of the Duck Dynasty television series writes of his experiences both before and after the the start of the show. He discusses his and the whole Robertson clan's belief in God. This is a good down to earth read.

Si-renity is a good spirited and quirky book. Uncle Si, popular from the TV show Duck Dynasty, gives us a glimpse into some of his life events all while humbly telling readers that he is a man of faith and how faith has been practiced throughout his life. Although I have only seen snippets of the show, his quirky personality shines through as it reiterates his catchphrases, gives us hilarious hallu-Si-nations and includes a few personal photographs. The book dabbles in topics such as his early military life, his early family struggles, family accomplishments, marriage, fans, best friends, charity work fishing, poker, hunting, bucket lists and many more topics. Si is a wonderful man, the tone is set in an uplifting manner as he works to spread the Good News in his own way. Readers will surely enjoy this wonderful mix of faith, comedy and genuineness.

"Si-renity, How I Stay Calm and Keep The Faith" by Si Robertson is more stories from Si and on his faith in Jesus Christ. I will admit I haven't watched Duck Dynasty in a couple years but I am a Si fan as I really enjoy how honest he is no matter what. That honesty is why I was more and happy than happy to read this book before it was released to review it. Si does not hold back and tells us the truth about his life even pointing out that some things in the show are scripted. He talks about how his faith has brought him to different places and how he shares it. Also he talks about his relationship with his family and even the time of his heart issues. His book is a refreshing and interesting book to read on a simple living man who keeps his feet cemented in Christ no matter how famous he gets. I highly recommend this book as it is funny, interesting and encouraging.

I was given this book from NetGalley for my honest review and was not required to give a positive review.

This is a humorous, encouraging, and enlightening book. Si is one man that you say is truly genuine. You cannot find one fake bone in his body - except when the show gets scripted - other than that - he is true to himself and his family and most of all to JESUS CHRIST. He is not ashamed of the gospel and he is not ashamed of telling everyone about it. He advocates for the telling of the LORD whenever and wherever, but the whole thing is about how he finds his serenity in the LORD, and that is where you can find it too, and believe you me that is where I find it too and so can you. He talks about his relationship with his family and his heart attack. He wants you to join him in true serenity - JESUS - so do I. I received this book to give an honest review.

I would never say anything negative about beloved Si, but this book is mostly current stories of his life and faith since Duck Dynasty made him America's favorite uncle. His first book was a detailed account of his very full life, which I greatly enjoyed. This book has some very good points, and is told with his love and humor. It was a nice quick read, and God easily and clearly speaks through Si in this book.

First, Si Robertson is married and loves his wife. Second, he believes in giving back to his family, friends, children, veterans, and those in need. Foremost, he has turned his life over to God and prayer. It is a choice he made and is ingrained into very breathe he takes. The references to God and quotes from the bible might be considered excessive until they are taken understand the context they say plays in the decision or activity under discussion. Overall, this book is a collection of humorous self-revealing fables meant to encourage a generosity of spirit, giving, purpose, and redemption no matter where one’s life leads. A gentle read from a gentleman.

A wonderful look inside the life of a man who has served God, his Family and his Country. Laugh aloud funny and yet serious at the same time. Offerings of scripture come naturally in the book. Gently urging you to join in Si's walk of faith. Absolutely fantastic! A wonderful gift for the Duck Dynasty fans in your life or those wanting to read a book of faith that is not "preachy." Enjoy! I thought this book was a pretty good book! I don't read very often and very rarely like to read but I didn't want to stop reading this book because it talked so much about how he grew up and went from nothing to something. It was almost kinda inspirational in a way. Especially when it talked about them not giving up and never leaving a family member behind. I watch the show all the time but the book was so much more detailed and it actually told how he went through the war and when his family was having issues. This book was better than any book I've ever read.

Thank you to Net Galley and Howard Books in exchange for an honest review of this book. I was a fan of Duck Dynasty and, in particular Uncle Si. I am not hyper religious, and there is a religious theme throughout, but it's not something that would be off putting. I enjoyed it. He talks in this book about reality TV, fans, and how it's been navigating this success.

Uncle Si has to be America"s favorite uncle. I read his other book and loved it, but this one goes into the heart of Uncle Si. I had no idea how much time he spends giving of his own time to others. Truly remark and of course all his funny adventures just made it all that more enjoyable. Loves it. Highly recommend this book.

This is my first "Si" book I read and I really enjoyed it. He talks about parts of his life that were good, challenging, fun, and hoe he incorporated his faith during those times. It's not a long book, and obviously moves pretty quick, but it's very much encouraging to read about how he lives and loves the Lord.

Sweet easy to read book full of Uncle Si's crazy philosophy. What I learned about him is what a giving and loving person he is whether he is a celebrity or not. Best advice from Uncle Si is to help those who who need help even if you don't have money give of your time. Make your slice of the world better.

I didn't really like this book. I think it talks too much about god. Don't get me wrong I believe in god I just think it talked more about God than why his faith is so strong. If he would have told more stories on how his faith is so strong then I would have liked it way more. He told a lot of stories but most of the time he quoted the bible.

I love Uncle Si, and this book did not disappoint. It was full of his crazy stunts and funny sayings, but it also had some serious stories about his faith and the things he has done for charity. And that's a fact, Jack!

While, I may not be the worlds greatest Christian, ie) I’d rather be at work earning a wage on a Sun rather then being at church, then you should still be able to enjoy this book. Uncle Si reflects on a few things that he has gotten to experience in his life, like sing at the Grand Ole Opry, Drive a Monster Truck & various other things, he still as a good man of faith is able to include his faith & strength in his Christianity when it applies to certain situations like with his friend Phillip McMillan or meeting a fan somewhere. Unfortunately, when it came to that particular part of the book, that’s where it loses me. I am in full support of people & their choices of faith and how much you choose to practice it, talk about it, etc but please don’t think that I want to hear about it a lot. Other than that, I enjoyed the stories about life behind & beyond Duck Commander/Duck Dynasty.

I just simply adore Uncle Si. When we faithfully watched Duck Dynasty, Si was always my favorite. His stories, mannerisms, etc., just made him so loveable, and this book just brings everything to print. Si opens up about his wife, the charities he is involved with, and all of his other crazy exploits. Si is definitely a no-nonsense type of guy who just knows how to tell a great story (whether they be true or not). Sprinkled throughout with bible verses and his true love for God, this is just a good read for anyone who needs a little more light in their lives.

This is the second book that I read by Si. I really enjoyed it. There were parts that really had me laughing out loud. There is some overlap from his other book. This can be helpful if it's been awhile since you read his first book. In this book, Si talks about his faith and charities that he supports. It's worth a read.

Who doesn't love Uncle Si?! He's certainly my favorite Roberston. I did enjoy this book learning about his life and faith. This was different than Si-cology 101, but there were places that were repetitive but not as descriptive as his other book. A short listen and great narration.
