A wonderful collection of fascinating stories. Danger-Human was particularly delightful.

A solid collection of Dickson short stories involving...well...a man from earth in a variety of situations around the galaxy. Its a little hard to parse, as I think a surface read probably communicates a lot resilience on the part of these various men from earth, even an ability to overcome nearly any challenge (with maybe one exception). But I think the point is more that maybe we *shouldn't* overcome these challenges, that the things that made these men so resilient were ultimately negative characteristics. That perhaps the man from earth is a thing to be feared.

I really enjoy Dickson's books, so it was fun to read a collection of his short stories. I loved some of them and even the ones I didn't enjoy as much weren't bad. I would describe his sci-fi as adventure sci-fi without the dense scientific theories. For someone who doesn't read a lot of sci-fi but who loves adventure stories, this is perfect for me.

I think read a lot of Dickson when I was younger. I've been looking for the stories that I enjoyed back then. These weren't any of them.

Great variety and the acknowledgement that the universe owes you nothing, and you have to fight and claw to carve out your place

A nice collection of short stories, I really enjoyed this collection and found myself wishing a few of them were longer as they really pulled me in.

This is a very readable collection of short stories by Dickson . I am not a fan of short stories but most of these were at least , unlike some of his other collections, upbeat, even whimsical. I much prefer that to the ones that, even though they are short, leave me depressed for days. I would give this a 3.5 if I could.

A well-written collection of science fiction short stories, most of them about the condition of man.
