The third and final book in the critically acclaimed Secret Box trilogy, a series pitch-perfect for fans of humorous mystery capers like Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library and the Mysterious Benedict Society.
Who knew that insisting on opening a strange birthday present would lead to being kidnapped by an evil Greek god determined to conquer the world? Jax Malone certainly didn’t. But now she’s trapped in the back of a limo bound for Epimetheus’s secret lair. He wants to control the three ancient urns that used to belong to Pandora’s daughter. Magical urns that can suck hope, faith, and love out of the world.
Now Jax, Ethan, and Tyler’s only chance to fight Epimetheus’s formidable power might be to find a secret weapon—and to realize that their family ties are stronger than any magic.
Great ending to a really fun series, and I got to learn a whole lot more about Greek mythology too. Lots to love here-mystery, adventure, archeology, family bonding, road trips, and some awesome kids stepping up and being heroes when it counted.
This series is great-I love all 3 books. This last one ties the story up nicely, and although I wish it doesn't have to end, the author ended it well. Even as an adult I learned a lot about Greek Mythology and archeology combined with mystery, adventure, museums, road trips, family dynamics, and some very resourceful kids. I love how the older brother, Tyler, Jax and Ethan's chauffeur through book #2 and #3 (since he's the only one old enough to drive) invented a game involving Greek mythology and the real adventure fits right in with his game.
In this book the evil Ricardo, who has escaped the gods' world of immortality and is planning on the takeover of the mortal's earth, kidnaps Jax to use as a hostage so that Tyler and Ethan bring him Pyrrha's 3 vials of hope, love, and faith. With them he has a weapon powerful enough to take over the world- and he has already begun. A scary visit to the realm of the gods was interesting. Of course all ends well but it is an exciting read to get there.
This third book is both poignant and thought-provoking. The book follows the previous books' formats, having the story narrated in the first person by Jax and Ethan in alternating chapters. While Ethan's shy, insecure, but loyal character comes through strongly, Jax's irreverent voice is sometimes watered down by too much information delivery. Rich in adventure and Greek mythology, and with an ending that is a satisfying conclusion to the series.
This book was better than the last and I definitely lobe where the story headed in this series. I just found this series on a shelf by the Percy Jackson books (U was getting titan's curse) and I immediately loved these they aren't the best series I've read but not the worst they're just there. I also love the characters and the family bond (or not bond)
Great ending. It wrapped up the action in a neat and tidy package, which was what I was expecting, but it was an intriguing ride to go on up until that point. I'll be reading these books soon to my 7 year old as they were genuinely interesting and well written.
Satisfying ending to a fun series. Highly recommend for mystery lovers and mythology buffs. Fun blend of humor, friendship, family bonding, and suspense.
The Secret Box trilogy concludes with this exciting adventure. Jax, Ethan, and Tyler are cousins who all have very different personalities and strengths. Jax loves reading travel guides and tends to act before thinking. Ethan is the one who assesses every risk and can give you endless facts to prove his opinion. Tyler is the oldest who is drafted to go along on this adventure because he can drive and has a car. He is also very into video games and is designing one with some friends.
In this episode, they are trying to defeat Ricardo - also known and Epimetheus - who wants to gather the urns of Faith, Hope, and Love to use them to control all of mankind. He has the urn of faith which he is using to create minions and disciples. When he kidnaps Jax to force Ethan and Tyler to bring him the other urns, the two boys have to go to Olympus to get them. Tyler is thrilled to be able to get first hand information about cyclops because his game is based on them; Ethan is more worried about having his allergies act up.
I really think that Ethan was my favorite character from the whole series. He was such a worrywart and so risk-averse. He was the voice of reason who was often drowned out by the more boisterous personalities of his cousin and his brother. But when push came to shove Ethan was very heroic.
Fans of fantasy the include Greek gods will enjoy this entertaining series. This is also a great adventure story with a great variety of personalities in the main characters.
Jax and her cousins Ethan and Tyler are back for the final adventure in the Secret Box series. In this fast moving third book, they must retrieve the last urn, the Urn of Faith, in order to destroy all three urns so they cannot be used against humanity to take away love, hope and faith. This may prove problematic as it is being held by the evil Epimetheus aka Ricardo and his human protectors which he has used the urn on causing them to lose faith in everything. Can the three adventurers and their new immortal friend Pyrrha survive the forces working against them?
Middle grade readers will enjoy this mythological adventure series making it a good choice for readers who like books packed with edge of your seat action. While this third book does recount some of the most important information from the first two books, new readers to the series will not want to miss the action that came before and definitely would want to start with the first book, The Secret Box.
I would recommend this book for purchase to any school or public library. This book was provided by the publisher for professional review by SWON Libraries.

This is the conclusion to the Secret Box trilogy. Where ancient Greek Mythology meets modern day middle grade fantasy. Based on the myths of Pandora's Box. This is Jax, Ethan and Tyler's final tug-of-war against Epimetheus or Ricardo as they try to keep all the urns of faith, hope & love away from his nefarious purposes.
Good fun entertainment this book is. Targeted towards the middle grade demographic, the language was also very easy to understand. And while the series may not be for me but I enjoyed every little bit of it. With Ethan's nervous habits and fact filled brain to Jax's sass and Tyler's mathematical brain and their journey of a life time to save humanity. Very well done.
"Fans of good clean action and Greek Mythology will enjoy this series"
Jax, Ethan and Tyler find themselves in a few pickles during this last part of their adventure to locate and destroy the 3 objects of their quest that began in book one of this series. A trip to the Museum and a wild limousine ride finds Jax in the big mix of things! The kids meet Pandora of mythology fame, spend time with her daughter Pyrrha, and run from Epimetheus (aka Ricardo), Pyrrah's father.
After lots of mishaps and time travel, the adventure ends well with most questions answered and all three kids returning home safe and sound.
A nice ending to this three-part series that i great for readers young and old.
