Adams was an early pioneer of the post-holocaust novel. His Horseclans novels are precursors to many of today's attempts at this type of story, many of which do not exhibit his painstakingly detailed world view or extraordinary plot follow-through (many of his Horseclans books are so interlinked that they make sense only when read in order; he did not create many "stand alone" books in the series).
Hallmarks of Adams' style include a focus on violent, non-stop action, meticulous detail in matters historical and military, strong description, and digressions expounding on various subjects from a conservative and libertarian viewpoint.

Bettylou Hanson has been habitually raped by Elder Claxton and when falling pregnant is considered a shameless whore.
Taken captive by the Horseclans she finds solace and a husband amongst them, this is HER tale of her life with the clans and how just a "woman of the Horselcans" passes into legend.
A new twist on the Clans tales with a brand new feisty, brave female character and a refreshing change alongside the old crew of the stories.

This book tells the story of the life of a particular woman adopted into the Horseclans, and also the story of how the Prairiecats became partners with the Horseclansmen. Very entertaining, quite rivetting and highly enjoyable.

The Horseclans series is probably the best blend of fantasy and SiFi I have ever read. Pretty much something for everyone in these books. Great characters, epic storyline, fantastic writings. My highest recommendation

Hot on the heals of a Bili the Axe run, we meet Bettylou Hanson. I have always felt that she was a model for future sword-wielding women in literature.

This is on of my favorite series of all time. Reading these books make me wish I were their Kindred.
